1เอลีฮูพูดต่อไปว่า
1Moreover Elihu answered,
2"โอ ท่านผู้มีปัญญา ขอฟังถ้อยคำของข้าพเจ้า ท่านผู้มีความรู้ ขอเงี่ยหูฟังข้าพเจ้า
2“Hear my words, you wise men. Give ear to me, you who have knowledge.
3เพราะหูก็ลองชิมถ้อยคำอย่างกับเพดานปากชิมอาหาร
3For the ear tries words, as the palate tastes food.
4ขอให้เราเลือกสิ่งที่ถูก ขอให้เราเรียนรู้ในพวกเราเองว่าอะไรดี
4Let us choose for us that which is right. Let us know among ourselves what is good.
5เพราะโยบกล่าวว่า `ข้าพเจ้าเป็นคนชอบธรรม และพระเจ้าทรงเอาความยุติธรรมที่ควรตกแก่ข้าพเจ้าไปเสีย'
5For Job has said, ‘I am righteous, God has taken away my right:
6ข้าพเจ้าถูกนับเป็นคนมุสา ถึงแม้ข้าพเจ้าชอบธรรม แผลของข้าพเจ้ารักษาไม่หายแม้ว่าข้าพเจ้าไม่มีการละเมิดเลย
6Notwithstanding my right I am considered a liar. My wound is incurable, though I am without disobedience.’
7ใครหนอที่จะเหมือนโยบ ผู้ดื่มความเหยียดหยามเหมือนดื่มน้ำ
7What man is like Job, who drinks scorn like water,
8ผู้เข้าสังคมกับคนกระทำความชั่วช้า และเดินไปกับคนชั่ว
8Who goes in company with the workers of iniquity, and walks with wicked men?
9เพราะท่านได้กล่าวว่า `ไม่เป็นประโยชน์อะไรแก่มนุษย์เราที่เขาจะปีติยินดีในพระเจ้า'
9For he has said, ‘It profits a man nothing that he should delight himself with God.’
10เพราะฉะนั้น ท่านผู้มีความเข้าใจ ขอฟังข้าพเจ้า เมินเสียเถิดที่พระเจ้าจะทรงกระทำความชั่ว และที่องค์ผู้ทรงมหิทธิฤทธิ์จะทรงกระทำความชั่วช้า
10“Therefore listen to me, you men of understanding: far be it from God, that he should do wickedness, from the Almighty, that he should commit iniquity.
11เพราะพระเจ้าทรงสนองตามการกระทำของมนุษย์ และพระองค์ทรงให้เกิดแก่เขาตามการกระทำของเขา
11For the work of a man he will render to him, and cause every man to find according to his ways.
12แน่นอนทีเดียว พระเจ้าจะไม่ทรงกระทำชั่ว และองค์ผู้ทรงมหิทธิฤทธิ์จะไม่ทรงผันแปรความยุติธรรม
12Yes surely, God will not do wickedly, neither will the Almighty pervert justice.
13ใครแต่งตั้งให้พระองค์ปกครองโลก หรือใครเล่ามอบหมายทั้งโลกไว้กับพระองค์
13Who put him in charge of the earth? or who has appointed him over the whole world?
14ถ้าพระองค์ทรงเอาพระทัยใส่กับมนุษย์ และทรงรวบรวมวิญญาณและลมปราณของเขากลับมาสู่พระองค์
14If he set his heart on himself, If he gathered to himself his spirit and his breath,
15เนื้อหนังทั้งสิ้นก็จะพินาศไปด้วยกัน และมนุษย์ก็จะกลับไปเป็นผงคลีดิน
15all flesh would perish together, and man would turn again to dust.
16ถ้าท่านมีความเข้าใจ ขอฟังข้อนี้ ขอฟังเสียงถ้อยคำของข้าพเจ้า
16“If now you have understanding, hear this. Listen to the voice of my words.
17ผู้ที่เกลียดชังความยุติธรรมควรจะปกครองหรือ ท่านจะประณามผู้ที่ชอบธรรมที่สุดหรือ
17Shall even one who hates justice govern? Will you condemn him who is righteous and mighty?—
18เหมาะสมหรือไม่ที่จะพูดแก่กษัตริย์ว่า `ท่านผู้ชั่วร้าย' และแก่เจ้านายว่า `ท่านทั้งหลายผู้อธรรม'
18Who says to a king, ‘Vile!’ or to nobles, ‘Wicked!’?
19ยิ่งไม่เหมาะสมที่จะแสดงอคติแก่เจ้านาย หรือไม่ทรงเห็นแก่คนมั่งคั่งมากกว่าคนยากจน เพราะคนทั้งหมดนี้เป็นพระหัตถกิจของพระองค์
19Who doesn’t respect the persons of princes, nor respects the rich more than the poor; for they all are the work of his hands.
20สักครู่เดียวเขาทั้งหลายก็ตาย เวลาเที่ยงคืนประชาชนตัวสั่นและตายไป และผู้มีอานุภาพก็ถูกเอาไปเสียมิใช่ด้วยมือมนุษย์
20In a moment they die, even at midnight. The people are shaken and pass away. The mighty are taken away without a hand.
21เพราะพระเนตรของพระองค์มองดูทางทั้งหลายของมนุษย์ พระองค์ทรงเห็นย่างเท้าของเขาหมด
21“For his eyes are on the ways of a man. He sees all his goings.
22ไม่มีที่มืดครึ้มหรือเงามัจจุราชซึ่งคนกระทำความชั่วช้าจะซ่อนตัวได้
22There is no darkness, nor thick gloom, where the workers of iniquity may hide themselves.
23เพราะพระองค์จะไม่ทรงกำหนดให้มนุษย์ทำเกินสิ่งที่สมควร ให้เข้าเฝ้าพระเจ้ารับการพิพากษา
23For he doesn’t need to consider a man further, that he should go before God in judgment.
24พระองค์ทรงทุบผู้มีอานุภาพเป็นชิ้นๆโดยไม่ต้องนับและทรงตั้งคนอื่นไว้แทน
24He breaks in pieces mighty men in ways past finding out, and sets others in their place.
25เพราะฉะนั้นพระองค์ทรงทราบกิจการของเขา และทรงคว่ำเขาเสียในกลางคืน เขาก็แหลกไป
25Therefore he takes knowledge of their works. He overturns them in the night, so that they are destroyed.
26พระองค์ทรงตีเขาเหมือนอย่างคนชั่วต่อหน้าต่อตาคนอื่น
26He strikes them as wicked men in the open sight of others;
27เพราะว่าเขาทั้งหลายหันกลับเสียจากการติดตามพระองค์ และไม่นับถือมรรคาของพระองค์แต่อย่างใดเลย
27because they turned aside from following him, and wouldn’t pay attention to any of his ways,
28เหตุนี้เขาจึงกระทำให้เสียงร้องของคนยากจนมาถึงพระองค์ และพระองค์ทรงฟังเสียงร้องของผู้รับความทุกข์ใจ
28so that they caused the cry of the poor to come to him. He heard the cry of the afflicted.
29เมื่อพระองค์ทรงประทานความสงบให้ ใครจะสร้างความยุ่งยากได้ เมื่อพระองค์ทรงซ่อนพระพักตร์ของพระองค์ ใครจะเห็นพระองค์ได้ ไม่ว่าจะทำแก่ประชาชาติหรือแก่บุคคลก็เหมือนกัน
29When he gives quietness, who then can condemn? When he hides his face, who then can see him? Alike whether to a nation, or to a man,
30เพื่อว่าคนหน้าซื่อใจคดจะไม่ได้ครอบครอง และเขาจะไม่วางกับดักประชาชน
30that the godless man may not reign, that there be no one to ensnare the people.
31เพราะเป็นสิ่งเหมาะสมที่จะร้องทูลพระเจ้าว่า `ข้าพระองค์ได้รับการตีสอนแล้ว ข้าพระองค์จะไม่ทำผิดต่อไปอีก
31“For has any said to God, ‘I am guilty, but I will not offend any more.
32ขอทรงโปรดสอนข้าพระองค์ถึงสิ่งที่ข้าพระองค์มองไม่เห็น ถ้าข้าพระองค์กระทำความชั่วช้า ข้าพระองค์จะไม่กระทำอีก'
32Teach me that which I don’t see. If I have done iniquity, I will do it no more’?
33การตอบสนองของพระองค์จะต้องเป็นอย่างที่ท่านต้องการหรือ ท่านจึงไม่รับ ท่านเองต้องเลือก และไม่ใช่ข้าพเจ้า เหตุฉะนั้นท่านมีความคิดเห็นอย่างไร ก็พูดไปเถิด
33Shall his recompense be as you desire, that you refuse it? For you must choose, and not I. Therefore speak what you know.
34จงให้คนที่เข้าใจพูดกับข้าพเจ้า และให้คนฉลาดฟังข้าพเจ้า
34Men of understanding will tell me, yes, every wise man who hears me:
35โยบพูดอย่างไม่มีความรู้ ถ้อยคำของเขาปราศจากสติปัญญา
35‘Job speaks without knowledge. His words are without wisdom.’
36ข้าพเจ้าปรารถนาให้โยบถูกทดลองต่อไปถึงที่สุด เพราะว่าเขาตอบเหมือนอย่างคนชั่ว
36I wish that Job were tried to the end, because of his answering like wicked men.
37เพราะเขาเพิ่มการกบฏเข้ากับบาปของเขา เขาตบมือเย้ยอยู่ท่ามกลางเรา และทวีถ้อยคำของเขากล่าวร้ายพระเจ้า"
37For he adds rebellion to his sin. He claps his hands among us, and multiplies his words against God.”
