¹แล้วก่อนปัสกาหกวันพระเยซูเสด็จมาถึงหมู่บ้านเบธานี ซึ่งเป็นที่อยู่ของลาซารัสผู้ซึ่งพระองค์ได้ทรงให้ฟื้นขึ้นจากตาย

¹Then six days before the Passover, Jesus came to Bethany, where Lazarus was, who had been dead, whom he raised from the dead.

²ที่นั่นเขาจัดงานเลี้ยงอาหารเย็นแก่พระองค์ มารธาก็ปรนนิบัติอยู่ และลาซารัสก็เป็นคนหนึ่งในพวกเขาที่เอนกายลงรับประทานกับพระองค์

²So they made him a supper there. Martha served, but Lazarus was one of those who sat at the table with him.

³Mary, therefore, took a pound a Roman pound of 12 ounces, or about 340 grams of ointment of pure nard, very precious, and anointed the feet of Jesus, and wiped his feet with her hair. The house was filled with the fragrance of the ointment.

⁴แต่สาวกคนหนึ่งของพระองค์ ชื่อยูดาสอิสคาริโอท บุตรชายของซีโมน คือคนที่จะทรยศพระองค์ไว้ พูดว่า

⁴Then Judas Iscariot, Simon’s son, one of his disciples, who would betray him, said,

⁵"เหตุไฉนจึงไม่ขายน้ำมันนั้นเป็นเงินสักสามร้อยเดนาริอัน แล้วแจกให้แก่คนจน"

⁵“Why wasn’t this ointment sold for three hundred denarii, 300 denarii was about a year’s wages for an agricultural laborer. and given to the poor?”

⁶เขาพูดอย่างนั้นมิใช่เพราะเขาเอาใจใส่คนจน แต่เพราะเขาเป็นขโมย และได้ถือย่าม และได้ยักยอกเงินที่ใส่ไว้ในย่ามนั้น

⁶Now he said this, not because he cared for the poor, but because he was a thief, and having the money box, used to steal what was put into it.

⁷พระเยซูจึงตรัสว่า "ช่างเขาเถิด เขาทำอย่างนี้เพื่อแสดงถึงวันฝังศพของเรา

⁷But Jesus said, “Leave her alone. She has kept this for the day of my burial.

⁸เพราะว่ามีคนจนอยู่กับท่านเสมอ แต่เราจะไม่อยู่กับท่านเสมอไป"

⁸ For you always have the poor with you, but you don’t always have me.”

⁹ฝ่ายพวกยิวเป็นอันมากรู้ว่าพระองค์ประทับอยู่ที่นั่นจึงมาเฝ้าพระองค์ ไม่ใช่เพราะเห็นแก่พระเยซูเท่านั้น แต่อยากเห็นลาซารัสผู้ซึ่งพระองค์ได้ทรงให้ฟื้นขึ้นมาจากตายด้วย

⁹A large crowd therefore of the Jews learned that he was there, and they came, not for Jesus’ sake only, but that they might see Lazarus also, whom he had raised from the dead.

¹⁰แต่พวกปุโรหิตใหญ่จึงปรึกษากันจะฆ่าลาซารัสเสียด้วย

¹⁰But the chief priests conspired to put Lazarus to death also,

¹¹เพราะลาซารัสเป็นต้นเหตุที่ทำให้พวกยิวหลายคนออกจากพวกเขา และไปเชื่อพระเยซู

¹¹because on account of him many of the Jews went away and believed in Jesus.

¹²วันรุ่งขึ้นเมื่อคนเป็นอันมากที่มาในเทศกาลเลี้ยงนั้นได้ยินว่า พระเยซูเสด็จมาถึงกรุงเยรูซาเล็ม

¹²On the next day a great multitude had come to the feast. When they heard that Jesus was coming to Jerusalem,

¹³เขาก็พากันถือใบของต้นอินทผลัมออกไปต้อนรับพระองค์ร้องว่า "โฮซันนา ขอให้พระองค์ผู้เสด็จมาในพระนามขององค์พระผู้เป็นเจ้า คือพระมหากษัตริย์แห่งอิสราเอลทรงพระเจริญ"

¹³they took the branches of the palm trees, and went out to meet him, and cried out, “Hosanna “Hosanna” means “save us” or “help us, we pray.” ! Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord, Psalm 118:25-26 the King of Israel!”

¹⁴และเมื่อพระเยซูทรงพบลูกลาตัวหนึ่งจึงทรงลานั้นเหมือนดังที่มีคำเขียนไว้ว่า

¹⁴Jesus, having found a young donkey, sat on it. As it is written,

¹⁵`ธิดาแห่งศิโยนเอ๋ย อย่ากลัวเลย ดูเถิด กษัตริย์ของเธอทรงลูกลาเสด็จมา'

¹⁵“Don’t be afraid, daughter of Zion. Behold, your King comes, sitting on a donkey’s colt.” Zechariah 9:9

¹⁶ทีแรกพวกสาวกของพระองค์ไม่เข้าใจในเหตุการณ์เหล่านั้น แต่เมื่อพระเยซูทรงรับสง่าราศีแล้ว เขาจึงระลึกได้ว่า มีคำเช่นนั้นเขียนไว้กล่าวถึงพระองค์ และคนทั้งหลายได้กระทำอย่างนั้นถวายพระองค์

¹⁶His disciples didn’t understand these things at first, but when Jesus was glorified, then they remembered that these things were written about him, and that they had done these things to him.

¹⁷เหตุฉะนั้นคนทั้งปวงซึ่งได้อยู่กับพระองค์ เมื่อพระองค์ได้ทรงเรียกลาซารัสให้ออกมาจากอุโมงค์ฝังศพ และทรงให้เขาฟื้นขึ้นมาจากความตาย ก็เป็นพยานในสิ่งเหล่านี้

¹⁷The multitude therefore that was with him when he called Lazarus out of the tomb, and raised him from the dead, was testifying about it.

¹⁸เหตุที่ประชาชนพากันไปหาพระองค์ ก็เพราะเขาได้ยินว่าพระองค์ทรงกระทำการอัศจรรย์นั้น

¹⁸For this cause also the multitude went and met him, because they heard that he had done this sign.

¹⁹พวกฟาริสีจึงพูดกันว่า "ท่านเห็นไหมว่า ท่านทำอะไรไม่ได้เลย ดูเถิด โลกตามเขาไปหมดแล้ว"

¹⁹The Pharisees therefore said among themselves, “See how you accomplish nothing. Behold, the world has gone after him.”

²⁰ในหมู่คนทั้งหลายที่ขึ้นไปนมัสการในเทศกาลเลี้ยงนั้นมีพวกกรีกบ้าง

²⁰Now there were certain Greeks among those that went up to worship at the feast.

²¹พวกกรีกนั้นจึงไปหาฟีลิปซึ่งมาจากหมู่บ้านเบธไซดาในแคว้นกาลิลี และพูดกับท่านว่า "ท่านเจ้าข้า พวกข้าพเจ้าจะใคร่เห็นพระเยซู"

²¹These, therefore, came to Philip, who was from Bethsaida of Galilee, and asked him, saying, “Sir, we want to see Jesus.”

²²ฟีลิปจึงไปบอกอันดรูว์ และอันดรูว์กับฟีลิปจึงไปทูลพระเยซู

²²Philip came and told Andrew, and in turn, Andrew came with Philip, and they told Jesus.

²³และพระเยซูตรัสตอบเขาว่า "ถึงเวลาแล้วที่บุตรมนุษย์จะได้รับสง่าราศี

²³Jesus answered them, “The time has come for the Son of Man to be glorified.

²⁴เราบอกความจริงแก่ท่านว่า ถ้าเมล็ดข้าวไม่ได้ตกลงไปในดินและเปื่อยเน่าไป ก็จะอยู่เป็นเมล็ดเดียว แต่ถ้าเปื่อยเน่าไปแล้ว ก็จะงอกขึ้นเกิดผลมาก

²⁴ Most certainly I tell you, unless a grain of wheat falls into the earth and dies, it remains by itself alone. But if it dies, it bears much fruit.

²⁵ผู้ใดที่รักชีวิตของตนก็ต้องเสียชีวิต และผู้ที่ชังชีวิตของตนในโลกนี้ ก็จะรักษาชีวิตนั้นไว้นิรันดร์

²⁵ He who loves his life will lose it. He who hates his life in this world will keep it to eternal life.

²⁶ถ้าผู้ใดจะปรนนิบัติเรา ให้ผู้นั้นตามเรามา และเราอยู่ที่ไหน ผู้ปรนนิบัติเราจะอยู่ที่นั่นด้วย ถ้าผู้ใดปรนนิบัติเรา พระบิดาก็จะทรงประทานเกียรติแก่ผู้นั้น

²⁶ If anyone serves me, let him follow me. Where I am, there will my servant also be. If anyone serves me, the Father will honor him.

²⁷บัดนี้จิตใจของเราเป็นทุกข์และเราจะพูดว่าอะไร จะว่า `ข้าแต่พระบิดา ขอทรงโปรดช่วยข้าพระองค์ให้พ้นเวลานี้' อย่างนั้นหรือ หามิได้ เพราะด้วยความประสงค์นี้เองเราจึงมาถึงเวลานี้

²⁷ “Now my soul is troubled. What shall I say? ‘Father, save me from this time?’ But for this cause I came to this time.

²⁸ข้าแต่พระบิดา ขอให้พระนามของพระองค์ได้รับเกียรติ" แล้วก็มีพระสุรเสียงมาจากฟ้าว่า "เราได้ให้รับเกียรติแล้ว และจะให้รับเกียรติอีก"

²⁸ Father, glorify your name!” Then there came a voice out of the sky, saying, “I have both glorified it, and will glorify it again.”

²⁹ฉะนั้นคนทั้งหลายที่ยืนอยู่ที่นั่นเมื่อได้ยินเสียงนั้นก็พูดว่าฟ้าร้อง คนอื่นๆก็พูดว่า "ทูตสวรรค์องค์หนึ่งได้กล่าวกับพระองค์"

²⁹The multitude therefore, who stood by and heard it, said that it had thundered. Others said, “An angel has spoken to him.”

³⁰พระเยซูตรัสตอบว่า "เสียงนั้นเกิดขึ้นเพื่อท่านทั้งหลาย ไม่ใช่เพื่อเรา

³⁰Jesus answered, “This voice hasn’t come for my sake, but for your sakes.

³¹บัดนี้ถึงเวลาที่จะพิพากษาโลกนี้แล้ว เดี๋ยวนี้ผู้ครองโลกนี้จะถูกโยนทิ้งออกไปเสีย

³¹ Now is the judgment of this world. Now the prince of this world will be cast out.

³²เมื่อเราถูกยกขึ้นจากแผ่นดินโลกแล้ว เราก็จะชักชวนคนทั้งปวงให้มาหาเรา"

³² And I, if I am lifted up from the earth, will draw all people to myself.”

³³พระองค์ตรัสเช่นนั้นเพื่อสำแดงว่าพระองค์จะสิ้นพระชนม์อย่างไร

³³But he said this, signifying by what kind of death he should die.

³⁴คนทั้งหลายจึงทูลพระองค์ว่า "พวกเราได้ยินจากพระราชบัญญัติว่า พระคริสต์จะอยู่เป็นนิตย์ เหตุไฉนท่านจึงว่า `บุตรมนุษย์จะต้องถูกยกขึ้น' บุตรมนุษย์นั้นคือผู้ใดเล่า"

³⁴The multitude answered him, “We have heard out of the law that the Christ remains forever. Isaiah 9:7; Daniel 2:44 (but see also Isaiah 53:8) How do you say, ‘The Son of Man must be lifted up?’ Who is this Son of Man?”

³⁵พระเยซูจึงตรัสกับเขาว่า "ความสว่างจะอยู่กับท่านทั้งหลายอีกหน่อยหนึ่ง เมื่อยังมีความสว่างอยู่ก็จงเดินไปเถิด เกรงว่าความมืดจะตามมาทันท่าน ผู้ที่เดินอยู่ในความมืด ย่อมไม่รู้ว่าตนไปทางไหน

³⁵Jesus therefore said to them, “Yet a little while the light is with you. Walk while you have the light, that darkness doesn’t overtake you. He who walks in the darkness doesn’t know where he is going.

³⁶เมื่อท่านทั้งหลายมีความสว่าง ก็จงเชื่อในความสว่างนั้น เพื่อจะได้เป็นลูกแห่งความสว่าง" เมื่อพระเยซูตรัสดังนั้นแล้วก็เสด็จจากไป และซ่อนพระองค์ให้พ้นจากพวกเขา

³⁶ While you have the light, believe in the light, that you may become children of light.” Jesus said these things, and he departed and hid himself from them.

³⁷ถึงแม้ว่าพระองค์ได้ทรงกระทำการอัศจรรย์หลายประการทีเดียวต่อหน้าเขา เขาทั้งหลายก็ยังไม่เชื่อในพระองค์

³⁷But though he had done so many signs before them, yet they didn’t believe in him,

³⁸เพื่อคำของอิสยาห์ศาสดาพยากรณ์จะสำเร็จซึ่งว่า `พระองค์เจ้าข้า ใครเล่าได้เชื่อสิ่งที่เขาได้ยินจากเราทั้งหลาย และพระกรขององค์พระผู้เป็นเจ้าได้ทรงสำแดงแก่ผู้ใด'

³⁸that the word of Isaiah the prophet might be fulfilled, which he spoke, “Lord, who has believed our report? To whom has the arm of the Lord been revealed?” Isaiah 53:1

³⁹ฉะนั้นพวกเขาจึงเชื่อไม่ได้ เพราะอิสยาห์ได้กล่าวอีกว่า

³⁹For this cause they couldn’t believe, for Isaiah said again,

⁴⁰`พระองค์ได้ทรงปิดตาของเขาทั้งหลาย และทำใจของเขาให้แข็งกระด้างไป เกรงว่าเขาจะเห็นด้วยตาของเขา และเข้าใจด้วยจิตใจของเขา และหันกลับมาและเราจะรักษาเขาให้หาย'

⁴⁰“He has blinded their eyes and he hardened their heart, lest they should see with their eyes, and perceive with their heart, and would turn, and I would heal them.” Isaiah 6:10

⁴¹อิสยาห์กล่าวดังนี้เมื่อท่านได้เห็นสง่าราศีของพระองค์ และได้กล่าวถึงพระองค์

⁴¹Isaiah said these things when he saw his glory, and spoke of him. Isaiah 6:1

⁴²อย่างไรก็ดีแม้ในพวกขุนนางก็มีหลายคนเชื่อในพระองค์ด้วย แต่เขาไม่ยอมรับพระองค์อย่างเปิดเผยเพราะกลัวพวกฟาริสี เกรงว่าเขาจะถูกไล่ออกจากธรรมศาลา

⁴²Nevertheless even of the rulers many believed in him, but because of the Pharisees they didn’t confess it, so that they wouldn’t be put out of the synagogue,

⁴³เพราะว่าเขารักการสรรเสริญของมนุษย์มากกว่าการสรรเสริญของพระเจ้า

⁴³for they loved men’s praise more than God’s praise.

⁴⁴พระเยซูทรงประกาศว่า "ผู้ที่เชื่อในเรานั้น หาได้เชื่อในเราไม่ แต่เชื่อในพระองค์ผู้ทรงใช้เรามา

⁴⁴Jesus cried out and said, “Whoever believes in me, believes not in me, but in him who sent me.

⁴⁵และผู้ที่เห็นเราก็เห็นพระองค์ผู้ทรงใช้เรามา

⁴⁵ He who sees me sees him who sent me.

⁴⁶เราเข้ามาในโลกเป็นความสว่าง เพื่อทุกคนที่เชื่อในเราจะมิได้อยู่ในความมืด

⁴⁶ I have come as a light into the world, that whoever believes in me may not remain in the darkness.

⁴⁷ถ้าผู้ใดได้ยินถ้อยคำของเราและไม่เชื่อ เราก็ไม่พิพากษาผู้นั้น เพราะว่าเรามิได้มาเพื่อจะพิพากษาโลก แต่มาเพื่อจะช่วยโลกให้รอด

⁴⁷ If anyone listens to my sayings, and doesn’t believe, I don’t judge him. For I came not to judge the world, but to save the world.

⁴⁸ผู้ใดที่ปฏิเสธเราและไม่รับคำของเรา ผู้นั้นจะมีสิ่งหนึ่งพิพากษาเขา คือคำที่เราได้กล่าวแล้ว นั้นแหละจะพิพากษาเขาในวันสุดท้าย

⁴⁸ He who rejects me, and doesn’t receive my sayings, has one who judges him. The word that I spoke, the same will judge him in the last day.

⁴⁹เพราะเรามิได้กล่าวตามใจเราเอง แต่ซึ่งเรากล่าวและพูดนั้น พระบิดาผู้ทรงใช้เรามา พระองค์นั้นได้ทรงบัญชาให้แก่เรา

⁴⁹ For I spoke not from myself, but the Father who sent me, he gave me a commandment, what I should say, and what I should speak.

⁵⁰เรารู้ว่าพระบัญชาของพระองค์นั้นเป็นชีวิตนิรันดร์ เหตุฉะนั้นสิ่งที่เราพูดนั้น เราก็พูดตามที่พระบิดาทรงบัญชาเรา"

⁵⁰ I know that his commandment is eternal life. The things therefore which I speak, even as the Father has said to me, so I speak.”
