¹ก่อนถึงเทศกาลเลี้ยงปัสกา เมื่อพระเยซูทรงทราบว่า ถึงเวลาแล้วที่พระองค์จะทรงจากโลกนี้ไปหาพระบิดา พระองค์ทรงรักพวกของพระองค์ซึ่งอยู่ในโลกนี้ พระองค์ทรงรักเขาจนถึงที่สุด

¹Now before the feast of the Passover, Jesus, knowing that his time had come that he would depart from this world to the Father, having loved his own who were in the world, he loved them to the end.

²ขณะเมื่อรับประทานอาหารเย็นเสร็จแล้ว พญามารได้ดลใจยูดาสอิสคาริโอท บุตรชายของซีโมน ให้ทรยศพระองค์ไว้

²During supper, the devil having already put into the heart of Judas Iscariot, Simon’s son, to betray him,

³พระเยซูทรงทราบว่าพระบิดาได้ประทานสิ่งทั้งปวงให้อยู่ในพระหัตถ์ของพระองค์ และทรงทราบว่าพระองค์มาจากพระเจ้า และจะไปหาพระเจ้า

³Jesus, knowing that the Father had given all things into his hands, and that he came forth from God, and was going to God,

⁴พระองค์ทรงลุกขึ้นจากการรับประทานอาหารเย็น ทรงถอดฉลองพระองค์ออกวางไว้ และทรงเอาผ้าเช็ดตัวคาดเอวพระองค์ไว้

⁴arose from supper, and laid aside his outer garments. He took a towel, and wrapped a towel around his waist.

⁵แล้วก็ทรงเทน้ำลงในอ่าง และทรงตั้งต้นเอาน้ำล้างเท้าของพวกสาวก และเช็ดด้วยผ้าที่ทรงคาดเอวไว้นั้น

⁵Then he poured water into the basin, and began to wash the disciples’ feet, and to wipe them with the towel that was wrapped around him.

⁶แล้วพระองค์ทรงมาถึงซีโมนเปโตร และเปโตรทูลพระองค์ว่า "พระองค์เจ้าข้า พระองค์จะทรงล้างเท้าของข้าพระองค์หรือ"

⁶Then he came to Simon Peter. He said to him, “Lord, do you wash my feet?”

⁷พระเยซูตรัสตอบเขาว่า "สิ่งที่เรากระทำในขณะนี้ท่านยังไม่เข้าใจ แต่ภายหลังท่านจะเข้าใจ"

⁷Jesus answered him, “You don’t know what I am doing now, but you will understand later.”

⁸เปโตรทูลพระองค์ว่า "พระองค์จะทรงล้างเท้าของข้าพระองค์ไม่ได้" พระเยซูตรัสตอบเขาว่า "ถ้าเราไม่ล้างท่านแล้ว ท่านจะมีส่วนในเราไม่ได้"

⁸Peter said to him, “You will never wash my feet!” Jesus answered him, “If I don’t wash you, you have no part with me.”

⁹ซีโมนเปโตรทูลพระองค์ว่า "พระองค์เจ้าข้า มิใช่แต่เท้าของข้าพระองค์เท่านั้น แต่ขอทรงโปรดล้างทั้งมือและศีรษะด้วย"

⁹Simon Peter said to him, “Lord, not my feet only, but also my hands and my head!”

¹⁰พระเยซูตรัสกับเขาว่า "ผู้ที่อาบน้ำแล้วไม่จำเป็นต้องชำระกายอีก ล้างแต่เท้าเท่านั้น เพราะสะอาดหมดทั้งตัวแล้ว พวกท่านก็สะอาดแล้ว แต่ไม่ใช่ทุกคน"

¹⁰Jesus said to him, “Someone who has bathed only needs to have his feet washed, but is completely clean. You are clean, but not all of you.”

¹¹เพราะพระองค์ทรงทราบว่า ใครจะเป็นผู้ทรยศพระองค์ไว้ เหตุฉะนั้นพระองค์จึงตรัสว่า "ท่านทั้งหลายไม่สะอาดทุกคน"

¹¹For he knew him who would betray him, therefore he said, “You are not all clean.”

¹²เมื่อพระองค์ทรงล้างเท้าเขาทั้งหลายแล้ว พระองค์ก็ทรงฉลองพระองค์ และเอนพระกายลงอีกตรัสกับเขาว่า "ท่านทั้งหลายเข้าใจในสิ่งที่เราได้กระทำแก่ท่านหรือ

¹²So when he had washed their feet, put his outer garment back on, and sat down again, he said to them, “Do you know what I have done to you?

¹³ท่านทั้งหลายเรียกเราว่า พระอาจารย์และองค์พระผู้เป็นเจ้า ท่านเรียกถูกแล้ว เพราะเราเป็นเช่นนั้น

¹³ You call me, ‘Teacher’ and ‘Lord.’ You say so correctly, for so I am.

¹⁴ฉะนั้นถ้าเราผู้เป็นองค์พระผู้เป็นเจ้าและพระอาจารย์ของท่าน ได้ล้างเท้าของพวกท่าน พวกท่านก็ควรจะล้างเท้าของกันและกันด้วย

¹⁴ If I then, the Lord and the Teacher, have washed your feet, you also ought to wash one another’s feet.

¹⁵เพราะว่าเราได้วางแบบแก่ท่านแล้ว เพื่อให้ท่านทำเหมือนดังที่เราได้กระทำแก่ท่าน

¹⁵ For I have given you an example, that you also should do as I have done to you.

¹⁶เราบอกความจริงแก่ท่านว่า ทาสจะเป็นใหญ่กว่านายก็ไม่ได้ และทูตจะเป็นใหญ่กว่าผู้ที่ใช้เขาไปก็หามิได้

¹⁶ Most certainly I tell you, a servant is not greater than his lord, neither one who is sent greater than he who sent him.

¹⁷ถ้าท่านรู้ดังนี้แล้ว และท่านประพฤติตาม ท่านก็เป็นสุข

¹⁷ If you know these things, blessed are you if you do them.

¹⁸เรามิได้พูดถึงพวกท่านสิ้นทุกคน เรารู้จักผู้ที่เราได้เลือกไว้แล้ว แต่เพื่อพระคัมภีร์จะสำเร็จที่ว่า `ผู้ที่รับประทานอาหารกับเราได้ยกส้นเท้าต่อเรา'

¹⁸ I don’t speak concerning all of you. I know whom I have chosen. But that the Scripture may be fulfilled, ‘He who eats bread with me has lifted up his heel against me.’ Psalm 41:9

¹⁹เราบอกท่านทั้งหลายเดี๋ยวนี้ก่อนที่เรื่องนี้จะเกิดขึ้น เพื่อว่าเมื่อเรื่องนี้เกิดขึ้นแล้วท่านจะได้เชื่อว่าเราคือผู้นั้น

¹⁹ From now on, I tell you before it happens, that when it happens, you may believe that I am he.

²⁰เราบอกความจริงแก่ท่านว่า ผู้ใดได้รับผู้ที่เราใช้ไป ผู้นั้นก็รับเราด้วย และผู้ใดได้รับเรา ผู้นั้นได้รับพระองค์ผู้ทรงใช้เรามา"

²⁰ Most certainly I tell you, he who receives whomever I send, receives me; and he who receives me, receives him who sent me.”

²¹เมื่อพระเยซูตรัสดังนั้นแล้ว พระองค์ก็ทรงเป็นทุกข์ในพระทัย และตรัสเป็นพยานว่า "เราบอกความจริงแก่ท่านว่า คนหนึ่งในพวกท่านจะทรยศเราไว้"

²¹When Jesus had said this, he was troubled in spirit, and testified, “Most certainly I tell you that one of you will betray me.”

²²เหล่าสาวกจึงมองหน้ากันและสงสัยว่าคนที่พระองค์ตรัสถึงนั้นคือผู้ใด

²²The disciples looked at one another, perplexed about whom he spoke.

²³มีสาวกคนหนึ่งที่พระเยซูทรงรักได้เอนกายอยู่ที่พระทรวงของพระเยซู

²³One of his disciples, whom Jesus loved, was at the table, leaning against Jesus’ breast.

²⁴ซีโมนเปโตรจึงทำไม้ทำมือให้เขาทูลถามพระองค์ว่าคนที่พระองค์ตรัสถึงนั้นคือผู้ใด

²⁴Simon Peter therefore beckoned to him, and said to him, “Tell us who it is of whom he speaks.”

²⁵ขณะที่ยังเอนกายอยู่ที่พระทรวงของพระเยซู สาวกคนนั้นก็ทูลถามพระองค์ว่า "พระองค์เจ้าข้า คนนั้นคือใคร"

²⁵He, leaning back, as he was, on Jesus’ breast, asked him, “Lord, who is it?”

²⁶พระเยซูตรัสตอบว่า "คนนั้นคือผู้ที่เราจะเอาอาหารนี้จิ้มแล้วยื่นให้" และเมื่อพระองค์ทรงเอาอาหารนั้นจิ้มแล้ว ก็ทรงยื่นให้แก่ยูดาสอิสคาริโอทบุตรชายซีโมน

²⁶Jesus therefore answered, “It is he to whom I will give this piece of bread when I have dipped it.” So when he had dipped the piece of bread, he gave it to Judas, the son of Simon Iscariot.

²⁷เมื่อยูดาสรับประทานอาหารนั้นแล้ว ซาตานก็เข้าสิงในใจเขา พระเยซูจึงตรัสกับเขาว่า "ท่านจะทำอะไรก็จงทำเร็วๆเถิด"

²⁷After the piece of bread, then Satan entered into him. Then Jesus said to him, “What you do, do quickly.”

²⁸ไม่มีผู้ใดในพวกนั้นที่เอนกายลงรับประทานเข้าใจว่า เหตุใดพระองค์จึงตรัสกับเขาเช่นนั้น

²⁸Now no man at the table knew why he said this to him.

²⁹บางคนคิดว่าเพราะยูดาสถือถุงเงิน พระเยซูจึงตรัสบอกเขาว่า "จงไปซื้อสิ่งที่เราต้องการสำหรับเทศกาลเลี้ยงนั้น" หรือตรัสบอกเขาว่า เขาควรจะให้ทานแก่คนจนบ้าง

²⁹For some thought, because Judas had the money box, that Jesus said to him, “Buy what things we need for the feast,” or that he should give something to the poor.

³⁰ดังนั้นเมื่อยูดาสรับประทานอาหารชิ้นนั้นแล้วเขาก็ออกไปทันที ขณะนั้นเป็นเวลากลางคืน

³⁰Therefore having received that morsel, he went out immediately. It was night.

³¹เมื่อเขาออกไปแล้ว พระเยซูจึงตรัสว่า "บัดนี้บุตรมนุษย์ก็ได้รับเกียรติแล้ว และพระเจ้าทรงได้รับเกียรติเพราะบุตรมนุษย์

³¹When he had gone out, Jesus said, “Now the Son of Man has been glorified, and God has been glorified in him.

³²ถ้าพระเจ้าได้รับเกียรติเพราะพระบุตร พระเจ้าก็จะทรงประทานให้พระบุตรมีเกียรติในพระองค์เอง และพระเจ้าจะทรงให้มีเกียรติเดี๋ยวนี้

³² If God has been glorified in him, God will also glorify him in himself, and he will glorify him immediately.

³³ลูกเล็กๆเอ๋ย เรายังจะอยู่กับเจ้าทั้งหลายอีกขณะหนึ่ง เจ้าจะเสาะหาเรา และดังที่เราได้พูดกับพวกยิวแล้ว บัดนี้เราจะพูดกับเจ้าคือ `ที่เราไปนั้นเจ้าทั้งหลายไปไม่ได้'

³³ Little children, I will be with you a little while longer. You will seek me, and as I said to the Jews, ‘Where I am going, you can’t come,’ so now I tell you.

³⁴เราให้บัญญัติใหม่ไว้แก่เจ้าทั้งหลายคือให้เจ้ารักซึ่งกันและกัน เรารักเจ้าทั้งหลายมาแล้วอย่างไร เจ้าจงรักกันและกันด้วยอย่างนั้น

³⁴ A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another, just like I have loved you; that you also love one another.

³⁵ถ้าเจ้าทั้งหลายรักกันและกัน ดังนี้แหละคนทั้งปวงก็จะรู้ได้ว่าเจ้าทั้งหลายเป็นสาวกของเรา"

³⁵ By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another.”

³⁶ซีโมนเปโตรทูลพระองค์ว่า "พระองค์เจ้าข้า พระองค์จะเสด็จไปที่ไหน" พระเยซูตรัสตอบเขาว่า "ที่ซึ่งเราจะไปนั้นท่านจะตามเราไปเดี๋ยวนี้ไม่ได้ แต่ภายหลังท่านจะตามเราไป"

³⁶Simon Peter said to him, “Lord, where are you going?” Jesus answered, “Where I am going, you can’t follow now, but you will follow afterwards.”

³⁷เปโตรทูลพระองค์ว่า "พระองค์เจ้าข้า เหตุใดข้าพระองค์จึงตามพระองค์ไปเดี๋ยวนี้ไม่ได้ ข้าพระองค์จะสละชีวิตเพื่อพระองค์"

³⁷Peter said to him, “Lord, why can’t I follow you now? I will lay down my life for you.”

³⁸พระเยซูตรัสตอบเขาว่า "ท่านจะสละชีวิตของท่านเพื่อเราหรือ เราบอกความจริงแก่ท่านว่า ก่อนไก่ขัน ท่านจะปฏิเสธเราสามครั้ง"

³⁸Jesus answered him, “Will you lay down your life for me? Most certainly I tell you, the rooster won’t crow until you have denied me three times.
