1คนอิสราเอลก็กระทำชั่วในสายพระเนตรของพระเยโฮวาห์อีก พระเยโฮวาห์จึงทรงมอบเขาไว้ในมือของคนฟีลิสเตียสี่สิบปี
1The children of Israel again did that which was evil in the sight of Yahweh; and Yahweh delivered them into the hand of the Philistines forty years.
2มีชายคนหนึ่งเป็นชาวโศราห์คนครอบครัวดาน ชื่อมาโนอาห์ ภรรยาของท่านเป็นหมันไม่มีบุตรเลย
2There was a certain man of Zorah, of the family of the Danites, whose name was Manoah; and his wife was barren, and didn’t bear.
3ทูตสวรรค์ของพระเยโฮวาห์มาปรากฏแก่นางนั้น กล่าวแก่นางว่า "ดูเถิด บัดนี้เจ้าเป็นหมันไม่มีบุตร แต่เจ้าจะตั้งครรภ์คลอดบุตรเป็นชาย
3The angel of Yahweh appeared to the woman, and said to her, “See now, you are barren, and don’t bear; but you shall conceive, and bear a son.
4เพราะฉะนั้นจงระวัง อย่าดื่มเหล้าองุ่น หรือเมรัย และอย่ารับประทานของมลทิน
4Now therefore please beware and drink no wine nor strong drink, and don’t eat any unclean thing:
5เพราะดูเถิด เจ้าจะตั้งครรภ์และคลอดบุตรเป็นชาย อย่าให้มีดโกนถูกศีรษะของเขา เพราะเด็กคนนี้จะเป็นพวกนาศีร์แด่พระเจ้าตั้งแต่อยู่ในครรภ์ เขาจะเป็นคนเริ่มช่วยคนอิสราเอลให้พ้นจากเงื้อมมือของคนฟีลิสเตีย"
5for, behold, you shall conceive, and bear a son; and no razor shall come on his head; for the child shall be a Nazirite to God from the womb: and he shall begin to save Israel out of the hand of the Philistines.”
6ฝ่ายหญิงนั้นจึงไปบอกสามีว่า "มีบุรุษผู้หนึ่งของพระเจ้ามาหาดิฉัน ใบหน้าของท่านเหมือนใบหน้าทูตสวรรค์ของพระเจ้า น่ากลัวนัก ดิฉันไม่ได้ถามท่านว่าท่านมาจากไหน และท่านก็ไม่บอกชื่อของท่านแก่ดิฉัน
6Then the woman came and told her husband, saying, “A man of God came to me, and his face was like the face of the angel of God, very awesome; and I didn’t ask him where he was from, neither did he tell me his name:
7แต่ท่านบอกดิฉันว่า `ดูเถิด เจ้าจะตั้งครรภ์และคลอดบุตรชาย ฉะนั้นอย่าดื่มเหล้าองุ่นหรือเมรัย อย่ารับประทานของมลทิน เพราะเด็กนั้นจะเป็นพวกนาศีร์แด่พระเจ้าตั้งแต่อยู่ในครรภ์จนวันตาย'"
7but he said to me, ‘Behold, you shall conceive, and bear a son; and now drink no wine nor strong drink, and eat not any unclean thing; for the child shall be a Nazirite to God from the womb to the day of his death.’”
8แล้วมาโนอาห์ก็วิงวอนพระเยโฮวาห์ทูลว่า "ข้าแต่พระเยโฮวาห์ ขอบุรุษของพระเจ้าผู้ซึ่งพระองค์ทรงใช้มานั้นปรากฏแก่ข้าพระองค์ทั้งสองอีกครั้งหนึ่ง สั่งสอนข้าพระองค์ว่า ข้าพระองค์ควรกระทำอย่างไรแก่เด็กที่จะเกิดมานั้น"
8Then Manoah entreated Yahweh, and said, “Oh, Lord, please let the man of God whom you did send come again to us, and teach us what we shall do to the child who shall be born.”
9และพระเจ้าทรงฟังเสียงของมาโนอาห์ และทูตสวรรค์ของพระเจ้ามาหาหญิงนั้นอีกเมื่อนางนั่งอยู่ในทุ่งนา แต่มาโนอาห์สามีของนางไม่ได้อยู่ด้วย
9God listened to the voice of Manoah; and the angel of God came again to the woman as she sat in the field: but Manoah, her husband, wasn’t with her.
10นางก็รีบวิ่งไปบอกสามีว่า "ดูเถิด บุรุษผู้ที่ปรากฏแก่ดิฉันวันนั้นได้มาปรากฏแก่ดิฉันอีก"
10The woman made haste, and ran, and told her husband, and said to him, “Behold, the man has appeared to me, who came to me that day.”
11มาโนอาห์ก็ลุกขึ้นตามภรรยาไป เมื่อมาถึงบุรุษผู้นั้นเขาจึงว่า "ท่านเป็นบุรุษผู้ที่พูดกับผู้หญิงคนนี้หรือ" ผู้นั้นตอบว่า "เราเป็นผู้นั้นแหละ"
11Manoah arose, and went after his wife, and came to the man, and said to him, “Are you the man who spoke to the woman?” He said, “I am.”
12มาโนอาห์จึงกล่าวว่า "บัดนี้ขอให้ถ้อยคำของท่านเป็นความจริง ข้าพเจ้าทั้งสองควรสั่งสอนเด็กคนนั้นอย่างไร และข้าพเจ้าทั้งสองควรกระทำต่อเขาอย่างไร"
12Manoah said, “Now let your words happen. What shall the child’s way of life and mission be?”
13และทูตสวรรค์ของพระเยโฮวาห์บอกแก่มาโนอาห์ว่า "บรรดาสิ่งที่เราได้บอกแก่หญิงแล้วนั้นให้นางระวังให้ดี
13The angel of Yahweh said to Manoah, “Of all that I said to the woman let her beware.
14อย่าให้รับประทานสิ่งใดที่ได้มาจากเถาองุ่น อย่าให้นางดื่มเหล้าองุ่นหรือเมรัย อย่ารับประทานของมลทิน สิ่งใดที่เราบัญชานางไว้ให้นางปฏิบัติตามทุกประการ"
14She may not eat of anything that comes of the vine, neither let her drink wine or strong drink, nor eat any unclean thing; all that I commanded her let her observe.”
15มาโนอาห์กล่าวแก่ทูตสวรรค์ของพระเยโฮวาห์ว่า "ขอท่านรออยู่ก่อน ข้าพเจ้าทั้งสองจะไปเตรียมลูกแพะตัวหนึ่งให้ท่าน"
15Manoah said to the angel of Yahweh, “Please, let us detain you, that we may make a young goat ready for you.”
16ทูตสวรรค์ของพระเยโฮวาห์บอกมาโนอาห์ว่า "ถึงเจ้าจะให้เรารอ เราจะไม่รับประทานอาหารของเจ้า แต่ถ้าเจ้าจะจัดเครื่องเผาบูชา เจ้าจงถวายแด่พระเยโฮวาห์" เพราะว่ามาโนอาห์ไม่ทราบว่าท่านผู้นั้นเป็นทูตสวรรค์องค์หนึ่งของพระเยโฮวาห์
16The angel of Yahweh said to Manoah, “Though you detain me, I won’t eat of your bread; and if you will prepare a burnt offering, you must offer it to Yahweh.” For Manoah didn’t know that he was the angel of Yahweh.
17มาโนอาห์ถามทูตสวรรค์ของพระเยโฮวาห์ว่า "ท่านชื่ออะไร เพื่อเมื่อเป็นจริงตามถ้อยคำของท่าน เราจะได้ให้เกียรติแก่ท่าน"
17Manoah said to the angel of Yahweh, “What is your name, that when your words happen, we may honor you?”
18ทูตสวรรค์ของพระเยโฮวาห์บอกมาโนอาห์ว่า "ถามชื่อเราทำไม ชื่อของเราเป็นที่ซ่อนเร้นอยู่"
18The angel of Yahweh said to him, “Why do you ask about my name, since it is wonderful?”
19มาโนอาห์ก็เอาลูกแพะกับธัญญบูชามาถวายบูชาบนศิลาแด่พระเยโฮวาห์ และทูตสวรรค์นั้นกระทำการมหัศจรรย์ มาโนอาห์และภรรยาก็มองดู
19So Manoah took the young goat with the meal offering, and offered it on the rock to Yahweh. Then the angel did a wonderful thing as Manoah and his wife looked on.
20และอยู่มาเมื่อเปลวไฟจากแท่นบูชาพลุ่งขึ้นไปสวรรค์ ทูตสวรรค์ของพระเยโฮวาห์ก็ขึ้นไปตามเปลวไฟแห่งแท่นบูชา ขณะเมื่อมาโนอาห์และภรรยาคอยดูอยู่ และเขาทั้งสองก็ซบหน้าลงถึงดิน
20For it happened, when the flame went up toward the sky from off the altar, that the angel of Yahweh ascended in the flame of the altar: and Manoah and his wife looked on; and they fell on their faces to the ground.
21ทูตสวรรค์ของพระเยโฮวาห์ไม่ปรากฏแก่มาโนอาห์หรือแก่ภรรยาของเขาอีกเลย แล้วมาโนอาห์จึงทราบว่าผู้นั้นเป็นทูตสวรรค์องค์หนึ่งของพระเยโฮวาห์
21But the angel of Yahweh didn’t appear to Manoah or to his wife any more. Then Manoah knew that he was the angel of Yahweh.
22และมาโนอาห์พูดกับภรรยาของตนว่า "เราจะตายเป็นแน่ เพราะเราได้เห็นพระเจ้า"
22Manoah said to his wife, “We shall surely die, because we have seen God.”
23แต่ภรรยาบอกเขาว่า "ถ้าพระเยโฮวาห์ทรงหมายจะฆ่าเราเสีย พระองค์คงจะไม่รับเครื่องเผาบูชาและธัญญบูชาจากมือของเรา หรือทรงสำแดงสิ่งทั้งปวงเหล่านี้แก่เรา หรือประกาศเรื่องเช่นนี้แก่เรา"
23But his wife said to him, “If Yahweh were pleased to kill us, he wouldn’t have received a burnt offering and a meal offering at our hand, neither would he have shown us all these things, nor would at this time have told such things as these.”
24ผู้หญิงนั้นก็คลอดบุตรชายคนหนึ่งเรียกชื่อว่าแซมสัน เด็กนั้นก็เติบโตขึ้น และพระเยโฮวาห์ทรงอำนวยพระพรแก่เขา
24The woman bore a son, and named him Samson: and the child grew, and Yahweh blessed him.
25และพระวิญญาณของพระเยโฮวาห์ก็ทรงเริ่มเร้าใจเขาที่ค่ายดานระหว่างโศราห์กับเอชทาโอล
25The Spirit of Yahweh began to move him in Mahaneh Dan, between Zorah and Eshtaol.
