¹ภายหลังเหตุการณ์เหล่านี้ องค์พระผู้เป็นเจ้าทรงตั้งสาวกอื่นอีกเจ็ดสิบคนไว้และใช้เขาออกไปทีละสองคนๆ ให้ล่วงหน้าพระองค์ไปก่อน ให้เข้าไปทุกเมืองและทุกตำบลที่พระองค์จะเสด็จไปนั้น

¹Now after these things, the Lord also appointed seventy others, and sent them two by two ahead of him literally, “before his face” into every city and place, where he was about to come.

²พระองค์ตรัสกับเขาว่า "การเก็บเกี่ยวนั้นเป็นการใหญ่นักหนา แต่คนงานยังน้อยอยู่ เหตุฉะนั้นพวกท่านจงอ้อนวอนพระองค์ผู้ทรงเป็นเจ้าของการเก็บเกี่ยวนั้น ให้ส่งคนงานมาในการเก็บเกี่ยวของพระองค์

²Then he said to them, “The harvest is indeed plentiful, but the laborers are few. Pray therefore to the Lord of the harvest, that he may send out laborers into his harvest.

³ไปเถอะ ดูเถิด เราใช้ท่านทั้งหลายไปดุจลูกแกะอยู่ท่ามกลางฝูงสุนัขป่า

³ Go your ways. Behold, I send you out as lambs among wolves.

⁴อย่าเอาไถ้เงิน หรือย่าม หรือรองเท้าไป และอย่าคำนับผู้ใดตามทาง

⁴ Carry no purse, nor wallet, nor sandals. Greet no one on the way.

⁵ถ้าท่านจะเข้าไปในเรือนใดๆจงพูดก่อนว่า `ให้ความสุขมีแก่เรือนนี้เถิด'

⁵ Into whatever house you enter, first say, ‘Peace be to this house.’

⁶ถ้าลูกแห่งสันติสุขอยู่ที่นั่น สันติสุขของท่านจะอยู่กับเขา ถ้าหาไม่ สันติสุขของท่านจะกลับอยู่กับท่านอีก

⁶ If a son of peace is there, your peace will rest on him; but if not, it will return to you.

⁷จงอาศัยอยู่ในเรือนนั้น กินและดื่มของซึ่งเขาจะให้นั้นด้วยว่าผู้ทำงานสมควรจะได้รับค่าจ้างของตน อย่าเที่ยวจากเรือนนี้ไปเรือนโน้น

⁷ Remain in that same house, eating and drinking the things they give, for the laborer is worthy of his wages. Don’t go from house to house.

⁸ถ้าท่านจะเข้าไปในเมืองใดๆและเขารับรองท่านไว้ จงกินของที่เขาตั้งให้

⁸ Into whatever city you enter, and they receive you, eat the things that are set before you.

⁹และจงรักษาคนป่วยในเมืองนั้นให้หาย และแจ้งแก่เขาว่า `อาณาจักรของพระเจ้ามาใกล้ท่านทั้งหลายแล้ว'

⁹ Heal the sick who are therein, and tell them, ‘The Kingdom of God has come near to you.’

¹⁰ถ้าท่านจะเข้าไปในเมืองใดๆและเขาไม่รับรองท่านไว้ จงออกไปที่กลางถนนของเมืองนั้นกล่าวว่า

¹⁰ But into whatever city you enter, and they don’t receive you, go out into its streets and say,

¹¹`ถึงแม้ผงคลีดินแห่งเมืองของเจ้าทั้งหลายที่ติดอยู่กับเรา เราก็จะสะบัดออกเป็นที่แสดงว่า เราไม่เห็นพ้องกับเจ้า แต่เจ้าทั้งหลายจงเข้าใจความนี้เถิด คืออาณาจักรของพระเจ้ามาใกล้เจ้าทั้งหลายแล้ว'

¹¹ ‘Even the dust from your city that clings to us, we wipe off against you. Nevertheless know this, that the Kingdom of God has come near to you.’

¹²เราบอกท่านทั้งหลายว่า โทษของเมืองโสโดมในวันนั้นจะเบากว่าโทษของเมืองนั้น

¹² I tell you, it will be more tolerable in that day for Sodom than for that city.

¹³วิบัติแก่เจ้า เมืองโคราซิน วิบัติแก่เจ้า เมืองเบธไซดา ถ้าการมหัศจรรย์ซึ่งได้กระทำท่ามกลางเจ้าได้กระทำในเมืองไทระและเมืองไซดอน คนในเมืองทั้งสองจะได้นุ่งห่มผ้ากระสอบ นั่งบนขี้เถ้า กลับใจเสียใหม่นานมาแล้ว

¹³ “Woe to you, Chorazin! Woe to you, Bethsaida! For if the mighty works had been done in Tyre and Sidon which were done in you, they would have repented long ago, sitting in sackcloth and ashes.

¹⁴แต่ในการพิพากษานั้น โทษของเมืองไทระและเมืองไซดอนจะเบากว่าโทษของเจ้า

¹⁴ But it will be more tolerable for Tyre and Sidon in the judgment than for you.

¹⁵ฝ่ายเจ้าเมืองคาเปอรนาอุม ซึ่งได้ถูกยกขึ้นเทียมฟ้า เจ้าจะต้องลงไปถึงนรกต่างหาก

¹⁵ You, Capernaum, who are exalted to heaven, will be brought down to Hades. Hades is the lower realm of the dead, or Hell.

¹⁶ผู้ที่ฟังท่านทั้งหลายก็ได้ฟังเรา ผู้ที่เกลียดชังท่านทั้งหลายก็เกลียดชังเรา ผู้ที่เกลียดชังเราก็เกลียดชังผู้ที่ทรงใช้เรามา"

¹⁶ Whoever listens to you listens to me, and whoever rejects you rejects me. Whoever rejects me rejects him who sent me.”

¹⁷ฝ่ายสาวกเจ็ดสิบคนนั้นกลับมาด้วยความปรีดีทูลว่า "พระองค์เจ้าข้า ถึงผีทั้งหลายก็ได้อยู่ใต้บังคับของพวกข้าพระองค์โดยพระนามของพระองค์"

¹⁷The seventy returned with joy, saying, “Lord, even the demons are subject to us in your name!”

¹⁸พระองค์ตรัสกับเขาทั้งหลายว่า "เราได้เห็นซาตานตกจากสวรรค์เหมือนฟ้าแลบ

¹⁸He said to them, “I saw Satan having fallen like lightning from heaven.

¹⁹ดูเถิด เราได้ให้พวกท่านมีอำนาจเหยียบงูร้ายและแมลงป่อง และมีอำนาจใหญ่ยิ่งกว่ากำลังศัตรู ไม่มีสิ่งหนึ่งสิ่งใดจะทำอันตรายแก่ท่านได้เลย

¹⁹ Behold, I give you authority to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy. Nothing will in any way hurt you.

²⁰แต่ว่าอย่าเปรมปรีดิ์ในสิ่งนี้ คือที่พวกผีอยู่ใต้บังคับของท่าน แต่จงเปรมปรีดิ์เพราะชื่อของท่านจดไว้ในสวรรค์"

²⁰ Nevertheless, don’t rejoice in this, that the spirits are subject to you, but rejoice that your names are written in heaven.”

²¹ในโมงนั้นเอง พระเยซูทรงมีความเปรมปรีดิ์ในพระวิญญาณ จึงตรัสว่า "ข้าแต่พระบิดา ผู้เป็นเจ้าแห่งฟ้าสวรรค์และแผ่นดินโลก ข้าพระองค์ขอบพระคุณพระองค์ที่พระองค์ไ ด้ทรงปิดบังสิ่งเหล่านี้ไว้จากคนมีปัญญาและคนสุขุมรอบคอบ และได้ทรงเปิดเผยสิ่งเหล่านี้แก่ทารกน้อย ข้าแต่พระบิดา ที่เป็นอย่างนั้นก็เพราะเป็นที่ชอบพระทัยในสายพระเนตรของพระองค์

²¹In that same hour Jesus rejoiced in the Holy Spirit, and said, “I thank you, O Father, Lord of heaven and earth, that you have hidden these things from the wise and understanding, and revealed them to little children. Yes, Father, for so it was well-pleasing in your sight.”

²²พระบิดาของเราได้ทรงมอบสิ่งสารพัดให้แก่เรา และไม่มีใครรู้ว่าพระบุตรเป็นผู้ใดนอกจากพระบิดา และไม่มีใครรู้ว่าพระบิดาเป็นผู้ใดนอกจากพระบุตร และผู้ที่พระบุตรประสงค์จะสำแดงให้รู้"

²²Turning to the disciples, he said, “All things have been delivered to me by my Father. No one knows who the Son is, except the Father, and who the Father is, except the Son, and he to whomever the Son desires to reveal him.”

²³พระองค์ทรงเหลียวหลังไปทางเหล่าสาวกตรัสเฉพาะแก่พวกเขาว่า "นัยน์ตาทั้งหลายที่ได้เห็นการณ์ซึ่งพวกท่านได้เห็นก็เป็นสุข

²³Turning to the disciples, he said privately, “Blessed are the eyes which see the things that you see,

²⁴เพราะเราบอกท่านทั้งหลายว่า ศาสดาพยากรณ์หลายคน และกษัตริย์หลายองค์ ปรารถนาจะเห็นซึ่งท่านทั้งหลายเห็นอยู่นี้ แต่เขามิได้เคยเห็น และอยากจะได้ยินซึ่งท่านทั้งหลายได้ยิน แต่เขามิเคยได้ยิน"

²⁴ for I tell you that many prophets and kings desired to see the things which you see, and didn’t see them, and to hear the things which you hear, and didn’t hear them.”

²⁵ดูเถิด มีบาเรียนคนหนึ่งยืนขึ้นทดลองพระองค์ทูลถามว่า "อาจารย์เจ้าข้า ข้าพเจ้าจะต้องทำประการใดเพื่อจะได้ชีวิตนิรันดร์เป็นมรดก"

²⁵Behold, a certain lawyer stood up and tested him, saying, “Teacher, what shall I do to inherit eternal life?”

²⁶พระองค์ตรัสตอบเขาว่า "ในพระราชบัญญัติมีคำเขียนว่าอย่างไร ท่านได้อ่านเข้าใจอย่างไร"

²⁶He said to him, “What is written in the law? How do you read it?”

²⁷เขาทูลตอบว่า "จงรักองค์พระผู้เป็นเจ้าผู้เป็นพระเจ้าของเจ้าด้วยสุดจิตสุดใจของเจ้า ด้วยสุดกำลังและสิ้นสุดความคิดของเจ้า และจงรักเพื่อนบ้านเหมือนรักตนเอง"

²⁷He answered, “You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your strength, and with all your mind; Deuteronomy 6:5 and your neighbor as yourself.” Leviticus 19:18

²⁸พระองค์จึงตรัสแก่เขาว่า "ท่านตอบถูกแล้ว จงกระทำอย่างนั้นแล้วท่านจะได้ชีวิต"

²⁸He said to him, “You have answered correctly. Do this, and you will live.”

²⁹แต่คนนั้นปรารถนาจะแก้ตัวจึงทูลพระเยซูว่า "แล้วใครเป็นเพื่อนบ้านของข้าพเจ้า"

²⁹But he, desiring to justify himself, asked Jesus, “Who is my neighbor?”

³⁰พระเยซูตรัสตอบว่า "มีชายคนหนึ่งลงไปจากกรุงเยรูซาเล็มจะไปยังเมืองเยรีโค และเขาถูกพวกโจรปล้น โจรนั้นได้แย่งชิงเสื้อผ้าของเขาและทุบตี แล้วก็ละทิ้งเขาไว้เกือบจะตายแล้ว

³⁰Jesus answered, “A certain man was going down from Jerusalem to Jericho, and he fell among robbers, who both stripped him and beat him, and departed, leaving him half dead.

³¹เผอิญปุโรหิตคนหนึ่งเดินลงไปทางนั้น เมื่อเห็นคนนั้นก็เดินเลยไปเสียอีกฟากหนึ่ง

³¹ By chance a certain priest was going down that way. When he saw him, he passed by on the other side.

³²คนหนึ่งในพวกเลวีก็ทำเหมือนกัน เมื่อมาถึงที่นั่นและเห็นแล้วก็เลยไปเสียอีกฟากหนึ่ง

³² In the same way a Levite also, when he came to the place, and saw him, passed by on the other side.

³³แต่ชาวสะมาเรียคนหนึ่งเมื่อเดินมาถึงคนนั้น ครั้นเห็นแล้วก็มีใจเมตตา

³³ But a certain Samaritan, as he traveled, came where he was. When he saw him, he was moved with compassion,

³⁴เข้าไปหาเขาเอาผ้าพันบาดแผลให้ พลางเอาน้ำมันกับน้ำองุ่นเทใส่บาดแผลนั้น แล้วให้เขาขึ้นขี่สัตว์ของตนเองพามาถึงโรงแรมแห่งหนึ่ง และรักษาพยาบาลเขาไว้

³⁴ came to him, and bound up his wounds, pouring on oil and wine. He set him on his own animal, and brought him to an inn, and took care of him.

³⁵วันรุ่งขึ้นเมื่อจะไป เขาก็เอาเงินสองเดนาริอันมอบให้เจ้าของโรงแรม บอกเขาว่า `จงรักษาเขาไว้เถิด และเงินที่จะเสียเกินนี้ เมื่อกลับมาฉันจะใช้ให้'

³⁵ On the next day, when he departed, he took out two denarii, and gave them to the host, and said to him, ‘Take care of him. Whatever you spend beyond that, I will repay you when I return.’

³⁶ในสามคนนั้น ท่านคิดเห็นว่า คนไหนปรากฏว่าเป็นเพื่อนบ้านของคนที่ถูกพวกโจรปล้น"

³⁶ Now which of these three do you think seemed to be a neighbor to him who fell among the robbers?”

³⁷เขาทูลตอบว่า "คือคนนั้นแหละที่ได้แสดงความเมตตาแก่เขา" พระเยซูจึงตรัสกับเขาว่า "ท่านจงไปทำเหมือนอย่างนั้นเถิด"

³⁷He said, “He who showed mercy on him.” Then Jesus said to him, “Go and do likewise.”

³⁸และต่อมาเมื่อพระองค์กับเหล่าสาวกกำลังเดินทางไป พระองค์จึงทรงเข้าไปในหมู่บ้านแห่งหนึ่ง มีผู้หญิงคนหนึ่งชื่อมารธาต้อนรับพระองค์ไว้ในเรือนของเธอ

³⁸It happened as they went on their way, he entered into a certain village, and a certain woman named Martha received him into her house.

³⁹มารธามีน้องสาวชื่อมารีย์ มารีย์ก็นั่งใกล้พระบาทพระเยซูฟังถ้อยคำของพระองค์ด้วย

³⁹She had a sister called Mary, who also sat at Jesus’ feet, and heard his word.

⁴⁰แต่มารธายุ่งในการปรนนิบัติมากจึงมาทูลพระองค์ว่า "พระองค์เจ้าข้า พระองค์ไม่สนพระทัยหรือ ซึ่งน้องสาวของข้าพระองค์ปล่อยให้ข้าพระองค์ทำการปรนนิบัติแต่คนเดียว ขอพระองค์สั่งเขาให้มาช่วยข้าพระองค์เถิด"

⁴⁰But Martha was distracted with much serving, and she came up to him, and said, “Lord, don’t you care that my sister left me to serve alone? Ask her therefore to help me.”

⁴¹แต่พระเยซูตรัสตอบเธอว่า "มารธา มารธา เอ๋ย เธอกระวนกระวายและร้อนใจด้วยหลายสิ่งนัก

⁴¹Jesus answered her, “Martha, Martha, you are anxious and troubled about many things,

⁴²สิ่งซึ่งต้องการนั้นมีแต่สิ่งเดียว มารีย์ได้เลือกเอาส่วนดีนั้น ใครจะชิงเอาไปจากเธอไม่ได้"

⁴² but one thing is needed. Mary has chosen the good part, which will not be taken away from her.”
