¹ต่อมาเมื่อพระเยซูตรัสถ้อยคำเหล่านี้เสร็จแล้ว พระองค์ได้เสด็จจากแคว้นกาลิลี เข้าไปในเขตแดนแคว้นยูเดียฟากแม่น้ำจอร์แดนข้างโน้น

¹It happened when Jesus had finished these words, he departed from Galilee, and came into the borders of Judea beyond the Jordan.

²ฝูงชนเป็นอันมากได้ตามพระองค์ไป แล้วพระองค์ทรงรักษาโรคของเขาให้หายที่นั่น

²Great multitudes followed him, and he healed them there.

³พวกฟาริสีมาทดลองพระองค์ทูลถามว่า "ผู้ชายจะหย่าภรรยาของตนเพราะเหตุใดๆก็ตาม เป็นการถูกต้องตามพระราชบัญญัติหรือไม่"

³Pharisees came to him, testing him, and saying, “Is it lawful for a man to divorce his wife for any reason?”

⁴พระองค์ตรัสตอบเขาว่า "พวกท่านไม่ได้อ่านหรือว่า พระผู้ทรงสร้างมนุษย์แต่เดิม `ได้ทรงสร้างพวกเขาให้เป็นชายและหญิง'

⁴He answered, “Haven’t you read that he who made them from the beginning made them male and female, Genesis 1:27

⁵และตรัสว่า `เพราะเหตุนี้ผู้ชายจะจากบิดามารดาของเขา จะไปผูกพันอยู่กับภรรยา และเขาทั้งสองจะเป็นเนื้ออันเดียวกัน'

⁵ and said, ‘For this cause a man shall leave his father and mother, and shall join to his wife; and the two shall become one flesh?’ Genesis 2:24

⁶เขาจึงไม่เป็นสองต่อไป แต่เป็นเนื้ออันเดียวกัน เหตุฉะนั้นซึ่งพระเจ้าได้ทรงผูกพันกันแล้ว อย่าให้มนุษย์ทำให้พรากจากกันเลย"

⁶ So that they are no more two, but one flesh. What therefore God has joined together, don’t let man tear apart.”

⁷เขาจึงทูลถามพระองค์ว่า "ถ้าอย่างนั้นทำไมโมเสสได้สั่งให้ทำหนังสือหย่าให้ภรรยา แล้วก็หย่าได้"

⁷They asked him, “Why then did Moses command us to give her a bill of divorce, and divorce her?”

⁸พระองค์ตรัสแก่เขาว่า "โมเสสได้ยอมให้ท่านทั้งหลายหย่าภรรยาของตน เพราะใจท่านทั้งหลายแข็งกระด้าง แต่เมื่อเดิมมิได้เป็นอย่างนั้น

⁸He said to them, “Moses, because of the hardness of your hearts, allowed you to divorce your wives, but from the beginning it has not been so.

⁹ฝ่ายเราบอกท่านทั้งหลายว่า ผู้ใดหย่าภรรยาของตนเพราะเหตุต่างๆ เว้นแต่เป็นชู้กับชายอื่นแล้วไปมีภรรยาใหม่ก็ผิดประเวณี และผู้ใดรับหญิงที่หย่าแล้วนั้นมาเป็นภรรยาก็ผิดประเวณีด้วย"

⁹ I tell you that whoever divorces his wife, except for sexual immorality, and marries another, commits adultery; and he who marries her when she is divorced commits adultery.”

¹⁰พวกสาวกของพระองค์ทูลพระองค์ว่า "ถ้าลักษณะของสามีภรรยาเป็นอย่างนั้น ไม่เป็นสามีภรรยากันเลยก็ดีกว่า"

¹⁰His disciples said to him, “If this is the case of the man with his wife, it is not expedient to marry.”

¹¹พระองค์ทรงตอบเขาว่า "มิใช่ทุกคนจะรับประพฤติตามข้อนี้ได้ เว้นแต่ผู้ที่ทรงให้ประพฤติได้

¹¹But he said to them, “Not all men can receive this saying, but those to whom it is given.

¹²ด้วยว่าผู้ที่เป็นขันทีตั้งแต่กำเนิดจากครรภ์มารดาก็มี ผู้ที่มนุษย์กระทำให้เป็นขันทีก็มี ผู้ที่กระทำตัวเองให้เป็นขันทีเพราะเห็นแก่อาณาจักรแห่งสวรรค์ก็มี ใครถือได้ก็ให้ถือเอาเถิด"

¹² For there are eunuchs who were born that way from their mother’s womb, and there are eunuchs who were made eunuchs by men; and there are eunuchs who made themselves eunuchs for the Kingdom of Heaven’s sake. He who is able to receive it, let him receive it.”

¹³ขณะนั้นเขาพาเด็กเล็กๆมาหาพระองค์ เพื่อจะให้พระองค์ทรงวางพระหัตถ์และอธิษฐาน แต่เหล่าสาวกก็ห้ามปรามไว้

¹³Then little children were brought to him, that he should lay his hands on them and pray; and the disciples rebuked them.

¹⁴ฝ่ายพระเยซูตรัสว่า "จงยอมให้เด็กเล็กๆเข้ามาหาเรา อย่าห้ามเขาเลย เพราะว่าชาวอาณาจักรแห่งสวรรค์เป็นของคนเช่นเด็กเหล่านั้น"

¹⁴But Jesus said, “Allow the little children, and don’t forbid them to come to me; for the Kingdom of Heaven belongs to ones like these.”

¹⁵เมื่อพระองค์ทรงวางพระหัตถ์บนเด็กเหล่านั้นแล้ว ก็เสด็จไปจากที่นั่น

¹⁵He laid his hands on them, and departed from there.

¹⁶ดูเถิด มีคนหนึ่งมาทูลพระองค์ว่า "ท่านอาจารย์ผู้ประเสริฐ ข้าพเจ้าจะต้องทำดีประการใดจึงจะได้ชีวิตนิรันดร์"

¹⁶Behold, one came to him and said, “Good teacher, what good thing shall I do, that I may have eternal life?”

¹⁷พระองค์ตรัสตอบเขาว่า "ท่านเรียกเราว่าประเสริฐทำไมเล่า ไม่มีผู้ใดประเสริฐนอกจากพระองค์เดียวคือพระเจ้า แต่ถ้าท่านปรารถนาจะเข้าในชีวิต ก็ให้ถือรักษาพระบัญญัติไว้"

¹⁷He said to him, “Why do you call me good? So MT and TR. NU reads “Why do you ask me about what is good?” No one is good but one, that is, God. But if you want to enter into life, keep the commandments.”

¹⁸คนนั้นทูลถามพระองค์ว่า "คือพระบัญญัติข้อใดบ้าง" พระเยซูตรัสว่า "อย่ากระทำการฆาตกรรม อย่าล่วงประเวณีผัวเมียเขา อย่าลักทรัพย์ อย่าเป็นพยานเท็จ

¹⁸He said to him, “Which ones?” Jesus said, “‘You shall not murder.’ ‘You shall not commit adultery.’ ‘You shall not steal.’ ‘You shall not offer false testimony.’

¹⁹จงให้เกียรติแก่บิดามารดาของตน และจงรักเพื่อนบ้านเหมือนรักตนเอง"

¹⁹ ‘Honor your father and mother.’ Exodus 20:12-16; Deuteronomy 5:16-20 And, ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself.’” Leviticus 19:18

²⁰คนหนุ่มนั้นทูลพระองค์ว่า "ข้อเหล่านั้นข้าพเจ้าได้ถือรักษาไว้ทุกประการตั้งแต่เป็นเด็กหนุ่มมา ข้าพเจ้ายังขาดอะไรอีกบ้าง"

²⁰The young man said to him, “All these things I have observed from my youth. What do I still lack?”

²¹พระเยซูตรัสแก่เขาว่า "ถ้าท่านปรารถนาเป็นผู้ที่ทำจนครบถ้วน จงไปขายบรรดาสิ่งของซึ่งท่านมีอยู่แจกจ่ายให้คนอนาถา แล้วท่านจะมีทรัพย์สมบัติในสวรรค์ แล้วจงตามเรามา"

²¹Jesus said to him, “If you want to be perfect, go, sell what you have, and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven; and come, follow me.”

²²เมื่อคนหนุ่มได้ยินถ้อยคำนั้นเขาก็ออกไปเป็นทุกข์ เพราะเขามีทรัพย์สิ่งของเป็นอันมาก

²²But when the young man heard the saying, he went away sad, for he was one who had great possessions.

²³พระเยซูตรัสกับเหล่าสาวกของพระองค์ว่า "เราบอกความจริงแก่ท่านทั้งหลายว่า คนมั่งมีจะเข้าในอาณาจักรแห่งสวรรค์ก็ยาก

²³Jesus said to his disciples, “Most certainly I say to you, a rich man will enter into the Kingdom of Heaven with difficulty.

²⁴เราบอกท่านทั้งหลายอีกว่า ตัวอูฐจะลอดรูเข็มก็ง่ายกว่าคนมั่งมีจะเข้าในอาณาจักรของพระเจ้า"

²⁴ Again I tell you, it is easier for a camel to go through a needle’s eye, than for a rich man to enter into the Kingdom of God.”

²⁵เมื่อพวกสาวกของพระองค์ได้ยินก็ประหลาดใจมาก จึงทูลว่า "ถ้าอย่างนั้นใครจะรอดได้"

²⁵When the disciples heard it, they were exceedingly astonished, saying, “Who then can be saved?”

²⁶พระเยซูทอดพระเนตรดูพวกสาวกและตรัสกับเขาว่า "ฝ่ายมนุษย์ก็เหลือกำลังที่จะทำได้ แต่พระเจ้าทรงกระทำให้สำเร็จได้ทุกสิ่ง"

²⁶Looking at them, Jesus said, “With men this is impossible, but with God all things are possible.”

²⁷แล้วเปโตรทูลพระองค์ว่า "ดูเถิด ข้าพระองค์ทั้งหลายได้สละสิ่งสารพัด และได้ติดตามพระองค์มา พวกข้าพระองค์จึงจะได้อะไรบ้าง"

²⁷Then Peter answered, “Behold, we have left everything, and followed you. What then will we have?”

²⁸พระเยซูตรัสกับเขาว่า "เราบอกความจริงแก่ท่านทั้งหลายว่า ในโลกใหม่คราวเมื่อบุตรมนุษย์จะนั่งบนพระที่นั่งแห่งสง่าราศีของพระองค์นั้น พวกท่านที่ได้ติดตามเรามาจะได้นั่งบนบัลลังก์สิบสองที่ พิพากษาชนอิสราเอลสิบสองตระกูล

²⁸Jesus said to them, “Most certainly I tell you that you who have followed me, in the regeneration when the Son of Man will sit on the throne of his glory, you also will sit on twelve thrones, judging the twelve tribes of Israel.

²⁹ผู้ใดได้สละบ้านหรือพี่น้องชายหญิงหรือบิดามารดาหรือภรรยาหรือลูกหรือไร่นา เพราะเห็นแก่นามของเรา ผู้นั้นจะได้ผลร้อยเท่า และจะได้ชีวิตนิรันดร์เป็นมรดก

²⁹ Everyone who has left houses, or brothers, or sisters, or father, or mother, or wife, or children, or lands, for my name’s sake, will receive one hundred times, and will inherit eternal life.

³⁰แต่มีหลายคนที่เป็นคนต้นจะต้องกลับไปเป็นคนสุดท้าย และที่เป็นคนสุดท้ายจะกลับเป็นคนต้น"

³⁰ But many will be last who are first; and first who are last.
