¹เมื่อประชาชนบ่น พระเยโฮวาห์ทรงไม่พอพระทัย พระเยโฮวาห์ทรงสดับแล้วทรงพระพิโรธ มีไฟของพระเยโฮวาห์มาไหม้อยู่ท่ามกลางเขา เผาค่ายรอบนอกเสียบ้าง

¹The people were complaining in the ears of Yahweh. When Yahweh heard it, his anger was kindled; and Yahweh’s fire burnt among them, and consumed some of the outskirts of the camp.

²แล้วคนทั้งหลายจึงร้องต่อโมเสส และเมื่อโมเสสได้อธิษฐานต่อพระเยโฮวาห์ ไฟก็ดับ

²The people cried to Moses; and Moses prayed to Yahweh, and the fire abated.

³เขาจึงเรียกชื่อตำบลนั้นว่าทาเบราห์ เพราะไฟของพระเยโฮวาห์มาไหม้อยู่ท่ามกลางเขาทั้งหลาย

³The name of that place was called Taberah Taberah means “burning” , because Yahweh’s fire burnt among them.

⁴คนที่ปะปนมากับเขาทั้งหลายเป็นคนโลภมาก ทั้งคนอิสราเอลก็ร้องไห้คร่ำครวญอีกว่า "ผู้ใดจะให้เนื้อเรากิน

⁴The mixed multitude that was among them lusted exceedingly: and the children of Israel also wept again, and said, “Who will give us flesh to eat?

⁵เราระลึกถึงปลาที่เราเคยกินในอียิปต์โดยไม่ต้องซื้อ ทั้งแตงกวา แตงโม กระเทียมจีน หอมใหญ่ หัวกระเทียม

⁵We remember the fish, which we ate in Egypt for nothing; the cucumbers, and the melons, and the leeks, and the onions, and the garlic;

⁶บัดนี้จิตใจของเราก็เหี่ยวแห้งลง ไม่มีอะไรให้เราดูเลยนอกจากมานานี้"

⁶but now we have lost our appetite. There is nothing at all except this manna to look at.”

⁷มานานั้นเหมือนเมล็ดผักชี สีเหมือนยางไม้หอม

⁷The manna was like coriander seed, and its appearance like the appearance of bdellium.

⁸ประชาชนก็เที่ยวออกไปเก็บมาโม่หรือตำในครกและใส่หม้อต้มทำขนม รสของมานาเหมือนรสน้ำมันสด

⁸The people went around, gathered it, and ground it in mills, or beat it in mortars, and boiled it in pots, and made cakes of it. Its taste was like the taste of fresh oil.

⁹กลางคืนเมื่อน้ำค้างตกมาเหนือค่าย มานาก็ตกมาด้วย

⁹When the dew fell on the camp in the night, the manna fell on it.

¹⁰โมเสสได้ยินประชาชนร้องไห้ไปทั่วครอบครัวทั้งหลาย ต่างคนต่างอยู่ที่ประตูเต็นท์ของตน พระเยโฮวาห์ทรงกริ้วยิ่งนัก โมเสสก็ไม่พอใจด้วย

¹⁰Moses heard the people weeping throughout their families, every man at the door of his tent; and the anger of Yahweh was kindled greatly; and Moses was displeased.

¹¹โมเสสจึงกราบทูลพระเยโฮวาห์ว่า "ไฉนพระองค์จึงให้ผู้รับใช้ของพระองค์ลำบากลำบนเช่นนี้ เหตุใดข้าพระองค์ไม่เป็นที่โปรดปรานในสายพระเนตรของพระองค์ พระองค์จึงทรงวางภาระของชนชาติทั้งหมดนี้ลงบนข้าพระองค์

¹¹Moses said to Yahweh, “Why have you treated with your servant so badly? Why haven’t I found favor in your sight, that you lay the burden of all this people on me?

¹²ข้าพระองค์ตั้งครรภ์คนเหล่านี้มาหรือ ข้าพระองค์ยังคนเหล่านี้ให้เกิดมาหรือ พระองค์จึงตรัสแก่ข้าพระองค์ว่า `จงอุ้มเขาไว้ในอกของเจ้าอย่างพ่อบุญธรรมอุ้มลูกแดงนำมาสู่แผ่นดินที่พระองค์ปฏิญาณจะให้แก่บรรพบุรุษของเขา'

¹²Have I conceived all this people? Have I brought them forth, that you should tell me, ‘Carry them in your bosom, as a nurse carries a nursing infant, to the land which you swore to their fathers?’

¹³ข้าพระองค์จะได้เนื้อมาจากไหนให้คนทั้งหมดนี้ เพราะเขาร้องไห้ต่อข้าพระองค์ว่า `ขอเนื้อให้เรากิน'

¹³Where could I get meat to give to all this people? For they weep to me, saying, ‘Give us meat, that we may eat.’

¹⁴ข้าพระองค์ไม่สามารถหอบอุ้มคนเหล่านี้แต่ลำพังได้ เป็นภาระหนักเกินแก่ข้าพระองค์

¹⁴I am not able to bear all this people alone, because it is too heavy for me.

¹⁵ถ้าพระองค์จะทรงปฏิบัติแก่ข้าพระองค์อย่างนี้แล้ว ข้าพระองค์ทูลวิงวอนต่อพระองค์ ถ้าข้าพระองค์เป็นที่โปรดปรานในสายพระเนตรของพระองค์ ขอทรงประหารข้าพระองค์เสียทันทีเถิด อย่าให้ข้าพระองค์แลเห็นความทุเรศของข้าพระองค์เลย"

¹⁵If you treat me this way, please kill me right now, if I have found favor in your sight; and don’t let me see my wretchedness.”

¹⁶พระเยโฮวาห์ตรัสกับโมเสสว่า "จงรวบรวมพวกผู้ใหญ่ในอิสราเอลให้เราเจ็ดสิบคน เป็นคนที่เจ้าทราบว่าเป็นคนผู้ใหญ่ในประชาชนและเป็นเจ้าหน้าที่เหนือเขาทั้งหลาย จงพาเขามาที่พลับพลาแห่งชุมนุมให้เขายืนอยู่พร้อมกับเจ้าที่นั่น

¹⁶Yahweh said to Moses, “Gather to me seventy men of the elders of Israel, whom you know to be the elders of the people, and officers over them; and bring them to the Tent of Meeting, that they may stand there with you.

¹⁷เราจะลงมาสนทนากับเจ้าที่นั่น และเราจะเอาวิญญาณที่มีอยู่บนเจ้ามาใส่บนคนเหล่านั้นเสียบ้าง ให้เขาทั้งหลายแบกภาระของชนชาตินี้ด้วยกันกับเจ้า เพื่อเจ้าจะมิได้ทนแบกอยู่แต่ลำพัง

¹⁷I will come down and talk with you there. I will take of the Spirit which is on you, and will put it on them; and they shall bear the burden of the people with you, that you not bear it yourself alone.

¹⁸และจงกล่าวแก่คนทั้งปวงว่า `ท่านทั้งหลายจงชำระตัวให้บริสุทธิ์สำหรับพรุ่งนี้ ท่านจะได้รับประทานเนื้อ เพราะท่านร้องไห้ต่อพระกรรณของพระเยโฮวาห์ว่า "ผู้ใดจะให้เนื้อเรากิน เมื่อเราอยู่ในอียิปต์เราก็สุขสบาย" เพราะเหตุนี้พระเยโฮวาห์จะทรงประทานเนื้อให้ท่านทั้งหลายรับประทาน

¹⁸“Say to the people, ‘Sanctify yourselves against tomorrow, and you will eat flesh; for you have wept in the ears of Yahweh, saying, “Who will give us flesh to eat? For it was well with us in Egypt.” Therefore Yahweh will give you flesh, and you will eat.

¹⁹ท่านจะมิได้รับประทานวันเดียว หรือสองวัน หรือห้าวัน หรือสิบวัน หรือยี่สิบวัน

¹⁹You will not eat one day, nor two days, nor five days, neither ten days, nor twenty days,

²⁰แต่หนึ่งเดือนเต็ม จนเนื้อจะล้นออกมาทางรูจมูกของท่าน จนท่านเอือม เพราะท่านได้ทอดทิ้งพระเยโฮวาห์ผู้อยู่ท่ามกลางท่านทั้งหลาย และได้ร้องไห้ต่อพระองค์กล่าวว่า "ไฉนเราจึงได้ออกมาจากอียิปต์"'"

²⁰but a whole month, until it come out at your nostrils, and it is loathsome to you; because that you have rejected Yahweh who is among you, and have wept before him, saying, “Why did we come out of Egypt?”’”

²¹แต่โมเสสกราบทูลว่า "คนที่ข้าพระองค์อยู่ท่ามกลางเขานั้นเป็นทหารราบหกแสนคน และพระองค์ตรัสว่า `เราจะให้เนื้อเขาทั้งหลายกินครบเดือนหนึ่ง'

²¹Moses said, “The people, among whom I am, are six hundred thousand men on foot; and you have said, ‘I will give them flesh, that they may eat a whole month.’

²²จะเอาฝูงแพะแกะฝูงวัวมาฆ่าให้เขาให้พอเขากินหรือ จะรวบรวมปลาทั้งหมดในทะเลให้เขาให้พอเขากินหรือ"

²²Shall flocks and herds be slaughtered for them, to be sufficient for them? Shall all the fish of the sea be gathered together for them, to be sufficient for them?”

²³พระเยโฮวาห์ตรัสกับโมเสสว่า "พระหัตถ์ของพระเยโฮวาห์สั้นไปหรือ บัดนี้เจ้าจะเห็นว่าคำของเราจะสำเร็จเพื่อเจ้าจริงหรือไม่"

²³Yahweh said to Moses, “Has Yahweh’s hand grown short? Now you will see whether my word will happen to you or not.”

²⁴โมเสสก็ออกไปบอกแก่คนทั้งปวงถึงพระดำรัสของพระเยโฮวาห์ และท่านได้รวบรวมพวกผู้ใหญ่ในประชาชนได้เจ็ดสิบคน แต่งตั้งเขาไว้ให้ยืนรอบพลับพลา

²⁴Moses went out, and told the people the words of Yahweh; and he gathered seventy men of the elders of the people, and set them around the Tent.

²⁵แล้วพระเยโฮวาห์เสด็จลงมาในเมฆและตรัสกับโมเสส และเอาวิญญาณที่มีอยู่บนโมเสสบ้างใส่บนพวกผู้ใหญ่เจ็ดสิบคนนั้น และต่อมาเมื่อวิญญาณอยู่บนเขาทั้งหลายแล้ว เขาทั้งหลายก็พยากรณ์ แต่เขาทั้งหลายก็ไม่ทำอีก

²⁵Yahweh came down in the cloud, and spoke to him, and took of the Spirit that was on him, and put it on the seventy elders: and it happened that when the Spirit rested on them, they prophesied, but they did so no more.

²⁶ยังมีสองคนที่อยู่ในค่าย คนหนึ่งชื่อเอลดาด อีกคนหนึ่งชื่อเมดาด และวิญญาณอยู่บนเขา เขาเป็นคนที่ได้ลงทะเบียนไว้ แต่ไม่ได้มาที่พลับพลา เขาพยากรณ์ในค่าย

²⁶But two men remained in the camp. The name of one was Eldad, and the name of the other Medad: and the Spirit rested on them; and they were of those who were written, but had not gone out to the Tent; and they prophesied in the camp.

²⁷มีชายหนุ่มคนหนึ่งวิ่งมาบอกโมเสสว่า "เอลดาดและเมดาดกำลังพยากรณ์อยู่ในค่าย"

²⁷A young man ran, and told Moses, and said, “Eldad and Medad are prophesying in the camp!”

²⁸และโยชูวาบุตรชายนูนเป็นผู้รับใช้ของโมเสส เป็นคนหนุ่ม มากล่าวว่า "โมเสสเจ้านายของข้าพเจ้า ขอห้ามเขาเสีย"

²⁸Joshua the son of Nun, the servant of Moses, one of his chosen men, answered, “My lord Moses, forbid them!”

²⁹แต่โมเสสบอกเขาว่า "ท่านเจ็บร้อนแทนเราหรือ เราใคร่ให้ประชาชนของพระเยโฮวาห์เป็นผู้พยากรณ์ทุกคน และใคร่ให้พระเยโฮวาห์ทรงใส่วิญญาณของพระองค์ไว้บนเขาเหล่านั้น"

²⁹Moses said to him, “Are you jealous for my sake? I wish that all Yahweh’s people were prophets, that Yahweh would put his Spirit on them!”

³⁰โมเสสและพวกผู้ใหญ่ของคนอิสราเอลก็กลับไปค่าย

³⁰Moses went into the camp, he and the elders of Israel.

³¹มีลมพัดมาจากพระเยโฮวาห์พาฝูงนกคุ่มมาจากทะเล ให้มาตกอยู่ที่ข้างค่ายรอบค่ายทุกทิศห่างออกไปเป็นหนทางเดินวนหนึ่ง สูงพ้นพื้นดินประมาณสองศอก

³¹A wind from Yahweh went out and brought quails from the sea, and let them fall by the camp, about a day’s journey on this side, and a day’s journey on the other side, around the camp, and about two cubits above the surface of the earth.

³²วันนั้นประชาชนก็ลุกขึ้นเที่ยวจับนกคุ่มทั้งวันและคืนและตลอดวันรุ่งขึ้นด้วย คนที่จับได้น้อยที่สุดได้ถึงสิบโฮเมอร์ แล้วเขาเอามาวางตากทั่วค่าย

³²The people rose up all that day, and all the night, and all the next day, and gathered the quails. He who gathered least gathered ten homers; 1 homer is about 220 litres or 6 bushels and they spread them all abroad for themselves around the camp.

³³เมื่อเนื้อยังติดฟันเขาทั้งหลายอยู่ ยังรับประทานไม่ทันหมด พระเยโฮวาห์ทรงกริ้วประชาชนยิ่งนัก พระเยโฮวาห์ก็ทรงประหารประชาชนเสียด้วยภัยพิบัติอย่างร้ายแรง

³³While the flesh was yet between their teeth, before it was chewed, the anger of Yahweh was kindled against the people, and Yahweh struck the people with a very great plague.

³⁴เขาจึงเรียกชื่อตำบลนั้นว่า ขิบโรทหัทธาอาวาห์ เพราะที่นั่นเขาฝังศพคนทั้งปวงที่โลภมาก

³⁴The name of that place was called Kibroth Hattaavah, Kibroth Hattaavah means “graves of lust.” because there they buried the people who lusted.

³⁵ประชาชนได้ยกเดินจากขิบโรทหัทธาอาวาห์ถึงฮาเซโรทและยับยั้งที่ฮาเซโรท

³⁵From Kibroth Hattaavah the people traveled to Hazeroth; and they stayed at Hazeroth.
