1บุตรชายของเราเอ๋ย อย่าลืมกฎเกณฑ์ของเรา แต่ให้ใจของเจ้ารักษาบัญญัติของเรา
1My son, don’t forget my teaching; but let your heart keep my commandments:
2เพราะสิ่งเหล่านี้จะเพิ่มวันเดือนปี ชีวิตยืนยาว และความสุขสมบูรณ์แก่เจ้า
2for length of days, and years of life, and peace, will they add to you.
3อย่าให้ความเมตตาและความจริงทอดทิ้งเจ้า จงผูกมันไว้ที่คอของเจ้า จงเขียนมันไว้ที่แผ่นจารึกแห่งหัวใจของเจ้า
3Don’t let kindness and truth forsake you. Bind them around your neck. Write them on the tablet of your heart.
4ดังนั้น เจ้าจะพบความโปรดปรานและความเข้าใจอันดีในสายพระเนตรพระเจ้าและในสายตามนุษย์
4So you will find favor, and good understanding in the sight of God and man.
5จงวางใจในพระเยโฮวาห์ด้วยสุดใจของเจ้า และอย่าพึ่งพาความเข้าใจของตนเอง
5Trust in Yahweh with all your heart, and don’t lean on your own understanding.
6จงยอมรับรู้พระองค์ในทุกทางของเจ้า และพระองค์จะทรงกระทำให้วิถีของเจ้าราบรื่น
6In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight.
7อย่าทำตัวฉลาดตามสายตาของตนเอง จงยำเกรงพระเยโฮวาห์ และออกไปเสียจากความชั่วร้าย
7Don’t be wise in your own eyes. Fear Yahweh, and depart from evil.
8การกระทำเช่นนี้จะเป็นสุขภาพแก่สะดือของเจ้า และเป็นไขในกระดูกของตน
8It will be health to your body, and nourishment to your bones.
9จงถวายเกียรติแด่พระเยโฮวาห์ด้วยทรัพย์สินของตน และด้วยผลแรกแห่งผลิตผลทั้งสิ้นของเจ้า
9Honor Yahweh with your substance, with the first fruits of all your increase:
10แล้วยุ้งของเจ้าจะเต็มด้วยความอุดม และบ่อย่ำองุ่นของเจ้าจะล้นด้วยน้ำองุ่นใหม่
10so your barns will be filled with plenty, and your vats will overflow with new wine.
11บุตรชายของเราเอ๋ย อย่าดูหมิ่นการตีสอนของพระเยโฮวาห์ หรือเบื่อหน่ายต่อการตักเตือนของพระองค์
11My son, don’t despise Yahweh’s discipline, neither be weary of his reproof:
12เพราะพระเยโฮวาห์ทรงตักเตือนผู้ที่พระองค์ทรงรัก ดังบิดาตักเตือนบุตรชายผู้ที่เขาปีติชื่นชม
12for whom Yahweh loves, he reproves; even as a father reproves the son in whom he delights.
13มนุษย์ผู้ประสบปัญญาและผู้ได้ความเข้าใจ เป็นสุขจริงหนอ
13Happy is the man who finds wisdom, the man who gets understanding.
14เพราะผลที่ได้จากปัญญาย่อมดีกว่าผลที่ได้จากเงินและกำไรนั้นดีกว่าทองคำเนื้อดี
14For her good profit is better than getting silver, and her return is better than fine gold.
15เธอประเสริฐกว่าทับทิม และบรรดาสิ่งที่เจ้าปรารถนาจะเปรียบกับเธอไม่ได้
15She is more precious than rubies. None of the things you can desire are to be compared to her.
16ชีวิตยืนยาวอยู่ที่มือขวาของเธอ และที่มือซ้ายของเธอมีความมั่งคั่งและเกียรติยศ
16Length of days is in her right hand. In her left hand are riches and honor.
17ทางของเธอเป็นทางของความร่มรื่น และวิถีทั้งสิ้นของเธอคือสันติภาพ
17Her ways are ways of pleasantness. All her paths are peace.
18เธอเป็นต้นไม้แห่งชีวิตแก่ผู้ที่ยึดเธอไว้ บรรดาผู้ที่ยึดเธอไว้แน่นก็เป็นสุข
18She is a tree of life to those who lay hold of her. Happy is everyone who retains her.
19พระเยโฮวาห์ทรงวางรากแผ่นดินโลกโดยปัญญา พระองค์ทรงสถาปนาฟ้าสวรรค์โดยความเข้าใจ
19By wisdom Yahweh founded the earth. By understanding, he established the heavens.
20โดยความรู้ของพระองค์น้ำบาดาลก็ปะทุออกมา และเมฆก็หยาดน้ำค้างลงมา
20By his knowledge, the depths were broken up, and the skies drop down the dew.
21บุตรชายของเราเอ๋ย จงรักษาสติปัญญาและความเฉลียวฉลาดไว้ อย่าให้ทั้งสองนี้หนีไปจากสายตาของเจ้า
21My son, let them not depart from your eyes. Keep sound wisdom and discretion:
22ดังนั้นทั้งสองจะเป็นชีวิตแก่จิตใจของเจ้า จะเป็นความงดงามประดับคอของเจ้า
22so they will be life to your soul, and grace for your neck.
23แล้วเจ้าจะดำเนินในทางของเจ้าอย่างปลอดภัย และเท้าของเจ้าจะไม่สะดุด
23Then you shall walk in your way securely. Your foot won’t stumble.
24เมื่อเจ้านอน เจ้าจะไม่กลัว เออ เจ้าจะนอนและการนอนหลับของเจ้าจะเป็นอย่างผาสุกสดชื่น
24When you lie down, you will not be afraid. Yes, you will lie down, and your sleep will be sweet.
25อย่าเกรงความหวาดกลัวอย่างปัจจุบันทันด่วน และอย่าเกรงเมื่อการรกร้างว่างเปล่าของคนชั่วมาถึง
25Don’t be afraid of sudden fear, neither of the desolation of the wicked, when it comes:
26เพราะพระเยโฮวาห์จะทรงเป็นความไว้วางใจของเจ้า และจะทรงรักษาเท้าของเจ้าให้พ้นจากการถูกจับ
26for Yahweh will be your confidence, and will keep your foot from being taken.
27อย่ายึดความดีไว้จากผู้ที่สมควรจะได้รับ ในเมื่อสิ่งนี้อยู่ในอำนาจมือของเจ้าที่จะกระทำได้
27Don’t withhold good from those to whom it is due, when it is in the power of your hand to do it.
28อย่าพูดกับเพื่อนบ้านของเจ้าว่า "ไปเถอะ แล้วกลับมาอีก พรุ่งนี้ฉันจะให้" ในเมื่อเจ้ามีให้อยู่แล้ว
28Don’t say to your neighbor, “Go, and come again; tomorrow I will give it to you,” when you have it by you.
29อย่ากะแผนงานชั่วร้ายต่อเพื่อนบ้านของเจ้า ผู้อาศัยอย่างไว้วางใจอยู่ข้างๆเจ้า
29Don’t devise evil against your neighbor, since he dwells securely by you.
30อย่าโต้แย้งกับผู้ใดอย่างไร้เหตุผลในเมื่อเขามิได้ทำอันตรายอย่างใดแก่เจ้า
30Don’t strive with a man without cause, if he has done you no harm.
31อย่าอิจฉาคนที่ทารุณ อย่าเลือกทางใดๆของเขาเลย
31Don’t envy the man of violence. Choose none of his ways.
32เพราะคนตลบตะแลงเป็นที่น่าสะอิดสะเอียนต่อพระเยโฮวาห์ แต่ข้อลึกลับของพระองค์นั้นอยู่กับคนชอบธรรม
32For the perverse is an abomination to Yahweh, but his friendship is with the upright.
33คำสาปแช่งของพระเยโฮวาห์อยู่บนเรือนของคนชั่วร้าย แต่พระองค์ทรงอำนวยพระพรแก่ที่อาศัยของคนชอบธรรม
33Yahweh’s curse is in the house of the wicked, but he blesses the habitation of the righteous.
34แน่นอนพระองค์ทรงเยาะเย้ยคนที่มักเยาะเย้ย แต่พระองค์ทรงประทานพระคุณแก่คนที่ใจถ่อม
34Surely he mocks the mockers, but he gives grace to the humble.
35คนฉลาดจะได้เกียรติเป็นมรดก แต่คนโง่จะได้ความอัปยศเป็นตำแหน่ง
35The wise will inherit glory, but shame will be the promotion of fools.
