¹You were made alive when you were dead in transgressions and sins,

¹I vi bijaste mrtvi zbog prijestupa i grijeha

²in which you once walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, the spirit who now works in the children of disobedience;

²u kojima ste nekoć živjeli po Eonu ovoga svijeta, po Knezu vlasti zraka, po tomu duhu koji sada djeluje u sinovima neposlušnima.

³among whom we also all once lived in the lust of our flesh, doing the desires of the flesh and of the mind, and were by nature children of wrath, even as the rest.

³Među njima smo i mi nekoć živjeli u požudama tijela svoga, udovoljavajući prohtjevima tijela i ćudi, te po naravi bijasmo djeca gnjeva kao i drugi.

⁴But God, being rich in mercy, for his great love with which he loved us,

⁴Ali Bog, bogat milosrđem, zbog velike ljubavi kojom nas uzljubi,

⁵even when we were dead through our trespasses, made us alive together with Christ (by grace you have been saved),

⁵nas koji bijasmo mrtvi zbog prijestupa, oživi zajedno s Kristom - milošću ste spašeni! -

⁶and raised us up with him, and made us to sit with him in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus,

⁶te nas zajedno s njim uskrisi i posadi na nebesima u Kristu Isusu:

⁷that in the ages to come he might show the exceeding riches of his grace in kindness toward us in Christ Jesus;

⁷da u dobrohotnosti prema nama u Kristu Isusu pokaže budućim vjekovima preobilno bogatstvo milosti svoje.

⁸for by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God,

⁸Ta milošću ste spašeni po vjeri! I to ne po sebi! Božji je to dar!

⁹not of works, that no one would boast.

⁹Ne po djelima, da se ne bi tko hvastao.

¹⁰For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared before that we would walk in them.

¹⁰Njegovo smo djelo, stvoreni u Kristu Isusu za dobra djela, koja Bog unaprijed pripravi da u njima živimo.

¹¹Therefore remember that once you, the Gentiles in the flesh, who are called “uncircumcision” by that which is called “circumcision,” (in the flesh, made by hands);

¹¹Spominjite se stoga da nekoć bijaste neznabošci u tijelu - neobrezanicima su vas zvali oni koji se zovu obrezani, rukom, na tijelu -

¹²that you were at that time separate from Christ, alienated from the commonwealth of Israel, and strangers from the covenants of the promise, having no hope and without God in the world.

¹²i da u ono vrijeme bijaste izvan Krista, udaljeni od građanstva izraelskoga, tuđi Savezima obećanja, bez nade bijaste i neznabošci na svijetu.

¹³But now in Christ Jesus you who once were far off are made near in the blood of Christ.

¹³Sada pak, u Kristu Isusu, vi koji nekoć bijaste daleko, dođoste blizu - po Krvi Kristovoj.

¹⁴For he is our peace, who made both one, and broke down the middle wall of partition,

¹⁴Doista, on je mir naš, on koji od dvoga učini jedno: pregradu razdvojnicu, neprijateljstvo razori u svome tijelu.

¹⁵having abolished in the flesh the hostility, the law of commandments contained in ordinances, that he might create in himself one new man of the two, making peace;

¹⁵Zakon zapovijedi s propisima obeskrijepi da u sebi, uspostavljajući mir, od dvojice sazda jednoga novog čovjeka

¹⁶and might reconcile them both in one body to God through the cross, having killed the hostility thereby.

¹⁶te obojicu u jednome Tijelu izmiri s Bogom po križu, ubivši u sebi neprijateljstvo.

¹⁷He came and preached peace to you who were far off and to those who were near.

¹⁷I dođe te navijesti mir vama daleko i mir onima blizu,

¹⁸For through him we both have our access in one Spirit to the Father.

¹⁸jer po njemu jedni i drugi u jednome Duhu imamo pristup Ocu.

¹⁹So then you are no longer strangers and foreigners, but you are fellow citizens with the saints, and of the household of God,

¹⁹Tako dakle više niste tuđinci ni pridošlice, nego sugrađani ste svetih i ukućani Božji

²⁰being built on the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Christ Jesus himself being the chief cornerstone;

²⁰nazidani na temelju apostola i proroka, a zaglavni je kamen sam Krist Isus.

²¹in whom the whole building, fitted together, grows into a holy temple in the Lord;

²¹U njemu je sva građevina povezana i raste u hram svet u Gospodinu.

²²in whom you also are built together for a habitation of God in the Spirit.

²²U njemu ste i vi ugrađeni u prebivalište Božje u Duhu.
