1Moreover Yahweh answered Job,
1I Jahve se obrati Jobu i reče mu:
2“Shall he who argues contend with the Almighty? He who argues with God, let him answer it.”
2"Zar će se s Jakim preti još kudilac? Tužitelj Božji nek' sam odgovori!"
3Then Job answered Yahweh,
3A Job odgovori Jahvi i reče:
4“Behold, I am of small account. What shall I answer you? I lay my hand on my mouth.
4"Odveć sam malen: što da odgovorim? Rukom ću svoja zatisnuti usta.
5I have spoken once, and I will not answer; Yes, twice, but I will proceed no further.”
5Riječ rekoh - neću više započeti; rekoh dvije - al' neću nastaviti."
6Then Yahweh answered Job out of the whirlwind,
6Nato Jahve odgovori Jobu iz oluje i reče:
7“Now brace yourself like a man. I will question you, and you will answer me.
7"Bokove svoje opaši k'o junak, ja ću te pitat', a ti me pouči.
8Will you even annul my judgment? Will you condemn me, that you may be justified?
8Zar bi i moj sud pogaziti htio, okrivio me da sebe opravdaš?
9Or do you have an arm like God? Can you thunder with a voice like him?
9Zar ti mišica snagu Božju ima, zar glasom grmjet' možeš poput njega?
10“Now deck yourself with excellency and dignity. Array yourself with honor and majesty.
10Ogrni se sjajem i veličanstvom, dostojanstvom se odjeni i slavom.
11Pour out the fury of your anger. Look at everyone who is proud, and bring him low.
11Plani dÓe bijesom ognja jarosnoga, pogledom jednim snizi oholnika.
12Look at everyone who is proud, and humble him. Crush the wicked in their place.
12Ponositoga pogledaj, slomi ga, na mjestu satri svakoga zlikovca.
13Hide them in the dust together. Bind their faces in the hidden place.
13U zemlju sve njih zajedno zakopaj, u mračnu ih pozatvaraj tamnicu.
14Then I will also admit to you that your own right hand can save you.
14Tada ću i ja tebi odat' hvalu što si se svojom desnicom spasio.
15“See now, behemoth, which I made as well as you. He eats grass as an ox.
15A sada, dÓe promotri Behemota! Travom se hrani poput govečeta,
16Look now, his strength is in his thighs. His force is in the muscles of his belly.
16u bedrima je, gle, snaga njegova, a krepkost mu u mišićju trbušnom.
17He moves his tail like a cedar. The sinews of his thighs are knit together.
17Poput cedra rep podignut ukruti, sva su mu stegna ispreplele žile.
18His bones are like tubes of brass. His limbs are like bars of iron.
18Mjedene cijevi kosti su njegove, zglobovi mu od željeza kvrge.
19He is the chief of the ways of God. He who made him gives him his sword.
19Prvenac on je Božjega stvaranja; mačem ga je naoružao tvorac.
20Surely the mountains produce food for him, where all the animals of the field play.
20Gore mu danak u hrani donose i sve zvijerje što po njima se igra.
21He lies under the lotus trees, in the covert of the reed, and the marsh.
21Pod lotosom on zavaljen počiva, guštik močvarni i glib kriju ga.
22The lotuses cover him with their shade. The willows of the brook surround him.
22Sjenu mu pravi lotosovo lišće, pod vrbama on hladuje potočnim.
23Behold, if a river overflows, he doesn’t tremble. He is confident, though the Jordan swells even to his mouth.
23Nabuja li rijeka, on ne strahuje: nimalo njega ne bi zabrinulo da mu u žvale i sav Jordan jurne.
24Shall any take him when he is on the watch, or pierce through his nose with a snare?
24Tko bi za oči uhvatio njega i tko bi mu nos sulicom probio?
25Zar loviš Levijatana udicom? Zar ćeš mu jezik zažvalit' užetom?
26Zar mu nozdrve trskom probost' možeš ili mu kukom probiti vilicu?
27Hoće li te on preklinjat' za milost, hoće li s tobom blago govoriti?
28I zar će s tobom savez on sklopiti da sveg života tebi sluga bude?
29Hoćeš li se s njim k'o s pticom poigrat' i vezat' ga da kćeri razveseliš?
30Hoće li se za nj cjenkati ribari, među sobom podijelit' ga trgovci?
31Možeš li kopljem njemu kožu izbost ili glavu mu probiti ostima?
32Podigni de ruku svoju na njega: za boj se spremi - bit će ti posljednji!
