²³Isus se okrene i reče Petru: "Nosi se od mene, sotono! Sablazan si mi jer ti nije na pameti što je Božje, nego što je ljudsko!"

²⁴Then Jesus said to his disciples, “If anyone desires to come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me.

²⁴Tada Isus reče svojim učenicima: "Hoće li tko za mnom, neka se odrekne samoga sebe, neka uzme svoj križ i neka ide za mnom.

²⁵ For whoever desires to save his life will lose it, and whoever will lose his life for my sake will find it.

²⁵Tko hoće život svoj spasiti, izgubit će ga, a tko izgubi život svoj poradi mena, naći će ga.

²⁶ For what will it profit a man, if he gains the whole world, and forfeits his life? Or what will a man give in exchange for his life?

²⁶Ta što će koristiti čovjeku ako sav svijet stekne, a životu svojemu naudi? Ili što će čovjek dati u zamjenu za život svoj?

²⁷ For the Son of Man will come in the glory of his Father with his angels, and then he will render to everyone according to his deeds.

²⁷Doći će, doista, Sin Čovječji u slavi Oca svoga s anđelima svojim i tada će naplatiti svakomu po djelima njegovim."

²⁸ Most certainly I tell you, there are some standing here who will in no way taste of death, until they see the Son of Man coming in his Kingdom.”
