1Satan stood up against Israel, and moved David to number Israel.
1شیطان خواست که برای اسرائیل مشکلاتی خلق کند، بنابران، داود را اغوا کرد تا اسرائیل را سرشماری کند.
2David said to Joab and to the princes of the people, “Go, number Israel from Beersheba even to Dan; and bring me word, that I may know the sum of them.”
2داود به یوآب و فرماندهان نظامی گفت: «بروید احصائیۀ مردم را از دان تا بئرشِبع برای من بیاورید تا بدانم که نفوس کشور چقدر است.»
3Joab said, “May Yahweh make his people a hundred times as many as they are. But, my lord the king, aren’t they all my lord’s servants? Why does my lord require this thing? Why will he be a cause of guilt to Israel?”
3یوآب گفت: «اگر خداوند شمارۀ مردم را صد چند کند، بازهم خدمتگاران شاه هستند، پس چه حاجت است که سرشماری کنیم؟ چرا همۀ مردم ما را گناهکار می سازی؟»
4Nevertheless the king’s word prevailed against Joab. Therefore Joab departed, and went throughout all Israel, and came to Jerusalem.
4اما داود یوآب را مجبور کرد که از امر او اطاعت نماید، بنابران، یوآب براه افتاد و بسراسر کشور اسرائیل رفت و دوباره به اورشلیم برگشت
5Joab gave up the sum of the numbering of the people to David. All those of Israel were one million one hundred thousand men who drew sword: and in Judah were four hundred seventy thousand men who drew sword.
5و نتیجۀ سرشماری را بحضور شاه تقدیم کرد، و معلوم شد که نفوس مردم اسرائیل یک میلیون و یکصد هزار مردان شمشیرزن و از یهودا چهارصد و هفتاد هزار نفر بود.
6But he didn’t count Levi and Benjamin among them; for the king’s word was abominable to Joab.
6اما یوآب مردان قبایل لاوی و بنیامین را شامل این سرشماری نکرد، زیرا او مخالف این احصائیه گیری بود.
7God was displeased with this thing; therefore he struck Israel.
7خداوند از این کار داود ناراضی شد و اسرائیل را جزا داد.
8David said to God, “I have sinned greatly, in that I have done this thing. But now, put away, I beg you, the iniquity of your servant; for I have done very foolishly.”
8داود به خدا گفت: «این کاری که از من سر زد خطای بزرگی بود. حالا بدرگاهت دعا می کنم که گناه بنده ات را ببخشی، می دانم که کار احمقانه ای کردم.»
9Yahweh spoke to Gad, David’s seer, saying,
9خداوند به جاد که پیامبر داود بود فرمود:
10“Go and speak to David, saying, ‘Thus says Yahweh, “I offer you three things. Choose one of them, that I may do it to you.”’”
10«برو به داود بگو: خداوند می فرماید: سه چیز به تو پیشنهاد می کنم. تو یکی از آن ها را انتخاب کن تا من برایت انجام بدهم.»
11So Gad came to David, and said to him, “Thus says Yahweh, ‘Take your choice:
11پس جاد پیش داود رفت و به او گفت: «خداوند می فرماید که کدامیک از اینها را می خواهی:
12either three years of famine; or three months to be consumed before your foes, while the sword of your enemies overtakes you; or else three days the sword of Yahweh, even pestilence in the land, and the angel of Yahweh destroying throughout all the borders of Israel. Now therefore consider what answer I shall return to him who sent me.’”
12سه سال قحطی، سه ماه دوران تباهی مردم اسرائیل با شمشیر دشمن یا سه روز شیوع مرض وُبا بر روی زمین، تا به آن وسیله فرشتۀ خداوند مردم سراسر اسرائیل را هلاک کند؟ حالا یکی از اینها را انتخاب کن تا جواب ترا به خدا که مرا فرستاده است برسانم.»
13David said to Gad, “I am in distress. Let me fall, I pray, into the hand of Yahweh; for his mercies are very great. Let me not fall into the hand of man.”
13داود به جاد گفت: «من در وضع بسیار بدی قرار دارم که بدرستی تصمیم گرفته نمی توانم، ولی من خود را به خداوند می سپارم نه به دست انسان، زیرا رحمت خداوند بسیار عظیم است.»
14So Yahweh sent a pestilence on Israel; and seventy thousand men of Israel fell.
14پس خداوند مرض مهلکی را در بین مردم اسرائیل شایع کرد و هفتاد هزار نفر شان را از بین برد.
15God sent an angel to Jerusalem to destroy it. As he was about to destroy, Yahweh saw, and he relented of the disaster, and said to the destroying angel, “It is enough; now stay your hand.” The angel of Yahweh was standing by the threshing floor of Ornan the Jebusite.
15بعد خداوند فرشته ای را به اورشلیم فرستاد تا آنرا ویران کند، مگر پیش از آنکه فرشته به آنجا برسد، خداوند بر سر رحم آمد و از کاری که می خواست بکند، صرف نظر کرد و به فرشتۀ مرگ فرمود: «دست نگهدار! بس است.» در آن وقت فرشتۀ خداوند در خرمنگاه اَرنانِ یبوسی ایستاده بود.
16David lifted up his eyes, and saw the angel of Yahweh standing between earth and the sky, having a drawn sword in his hand stretched out over Jerusalem. Then David and the elders, clothed in sackcloth, fell on their faces.
16داود سر بالا کرد و فرشتۀ خداوند را دید که بین زمین و آسمان ایستاده است، شمشیر برهنه در دست دارد و آنرا بسوی اورشلیم دراز کرده است. آنگاه داود و رهبران قوم نمد پوشیدند و بسجده افتادند.
17David said to God, “Isn’t it I who commanded the people to be numbered? It is even I who have sinned and done very wickedly; but these sheep, what have they done? Please let your hand, O Yahweh my God, be against me, and against my father’s house; but not against your people, that they should be plagued.”
17داود بحضور خدا دعا کرد: «من بودم که امر سرشماری را دادم. گناه از من بود و آن کار بد از من سر زد. این گوسفندان چه گناهی کرده اند؟ ای خداوند، خدای من، مرا و خاندانم را جزا بده و این بلا را بر سر قوم برگزیدۀ خود میاور.»
18Then the angel of Yahweh commanded Gad to tell David that David should go up, and raise an altar to Yahweh in the threshing floor of Ornan the Jebusite.
18آنگاه فرشتۀ خداوند به جاد گفت: «به داود بگو که قربانگاهی برای خداوند در خرمنگاه اَرنانِ یبوسی بسازد.»
19David went up at the saying of Gad, which he spoke in the name of Yahweh.
19پس داود به پیروی از فرمان خداوند که توسط جاد داده شده بود، براه افتاد.
20Ornan turned back, and saw the angel; and his four sons who were with him hid themselves. Now Ornan was threshing wheat.
20اَرنان در حال کوبیدن گندم بود و وقتی روی گردانید و فرشته را دید، چهار پسرش که با او بودند، خود را پنهان کردند، اما اَرنان هنوز هم گندم می کوبید.
21As David came to Ornan, Ornan looked and saw David, and went out of the threshing floor, and bowed himself to David with his face to the ground.
21وقتی داود به آنجا رسید، اَرنان او را دید و از خرمنگاه بیرون شد. پیش داود رفت و سر تعظیم در برابرش خم کرد.
22Then David said to Ornan, “Give me the place of this threshing floor, that I may build thereon an altar to Yahweh. You shall sell it to me for the full price, that the plague may be stopped from afflicting the people.”
22داود به اَرنان گفت: «زمین خرمنگاه را به من بفروش، زیرا می خواهم برای خداوند قربانگاهی آباد کنم تا بلا از سر مردم رفع شود و من تمام قیمت آنرا برایت می پردازم.»
23Ornan said to David, “Take it for yourself, and let my lord the king do that which is good in his eyes. Behold, I give the oxen for burnt offerings, and the threshing instruments for wood, and the wheat for the meal offering. I give it all.”
23اَرنان به داود گفت: «بفرمائید آقای من، ای پادشاه، هرچه می خواهید اختیار دارید. گاوها را برای قربانی سوختنی می دهم و سامان و لوازم خرمنگاه را برای هیزم و گندم را هم برای هدیۀ آردی برای تان تقدیم می کنم.»
24King David said to Ornan, “No; but I will most certainly buy it for the full price. For I will not take that which is yours for Yahweh, nor offer a burnt offering without cost.”
24داود پادشاه به اَرنان گفت: «نی، من همه را بقیمت کامل می خرم. چیزی را که متعلق به تو و یا مفت و رایگان باشد برای خداوند قربانی نمی کنم.»
25So David gave to Ornan six hundred shekels of gold by weight for the place.
25پس داود به اَرنان قیمت زمین را که ششصد مثقال طلا بود، پرداخت.
26David built an altar to Yahweh there, and offered burnt offerings and peace offerings, and called on Yahweh; and he answered him from the sky by fire on the altar of burnt offering.
26او در آنجا قربانگاهی برای خداوند آباد کرد و قربانی سوختنی و سلامتی تقدیم نمود و بعد بحضور خداوند دعا کرد. خداوند آتشی را از آسمان بر قربانگاه قربانی سوختنی فرستاد.
27Yahweh commanded the angel; and he put up his sword again into its sheath.
27سپس خداوند به فرشته فرمود که شمشیر خود را دوباره در غلاف کند و فرشته اطاعت نمود.
28At that time, when David saw that Yahweh had answered him in the threshing floor of Ornan the Jebusite, then he sacrificed there.
28وقتی داود پَی برد که خداوند دعای او را در خرمنگاه اَرنانِ یبوسی قبول فرمود بار دیگر قربانی تقدیم کرد،
29For the tabernacle of Yahweh, which Moses made in the wilderness, and the altar of burnt offering, were at that time in the high place at Gibeon.
29چون در آن ایام، خیمۀ حضور خداوند و قربانگاهی که موسی ساخته بود بر تپه ای در بیابان قرار داشت،داود جرأت نکرد که به آنجا برود، زیرا از شمشیر برهنۀ فرشتۀ خداوند ترسید.
30But David couldn’t go before it to inquire of God; for he was afraid because of the sword of the angel of Yahweh.
30داود جرأت نکرد که به آنجا برود، زیرا از شمشیر برهنۀ فرشتۀ خداوند ترسید.
