1The Spirit of God came on Azariah the son of Oded:
1روح خداوند بر عَزَریا (پسر عودید) آمد
2and he went out to meet Asa, and said to him, “Hear me, Asa, and all Judah and Benjamin! Yahweh is with you, while you are with him; and if you seek him, he will be found by you; but if you forsake him, he will forsake you.
2و او به ملاقات آسا رفت و به او گفت: «ای آسا و مردم یَهُودا و بنیامین بشنوید. اگر شما طالب خدا باشید او را می یابید! و اگر او را ترک کنید او هم شما را ترک می کند.
3Now for a long time Israel was without the true God, and without a teaching priest, and without law.
3تا یک زمان طولانی، قوم اسرائیل بدون خدای برحق و واقعی زندگی می کردند. کاهنی نبود که آن ها را تعلیم بدهد. دین و شریعت نداشتند.
4But when in their distress they turned to Yahweh, the God of Israel, and sought him, he was found by them.
4اما وقتی درمانده و بیچاره شدند، به خداوند، خدای اسرائیل پناه آوردند. در طلب او شدند و او را یافتند.
5In those times there was no peace to him who went out, nor to him who came in; but great troubles were on all the inhabitants of the lands.
5در آن زمان چون امنیت وجود نداشت، گشت و گذار هم خالی از خطر نبود و همه مردم در یک وضع اضطراب و پریشانی بسر می بردند.
6They were broken in pieces, nation against nation, and city against city; for God troubled them with all adversity.
6قومی با قومی و شهری با شهرِ دیگر می جنگیدند، زیرا خداوند خواست که مردم به این بلاها گرفتار شوند.
7But you be strong, and don’t let your hands be slack; for your work shall be rewarded.”
7اما شما باید جرأت داشته باشید و با ارادۀ قوی زندگی را به پیش ببرید، زیرا با اجرای اعمال نیک اجر بزرگی نصیب تان می شود.»
8When Asa heard these words, and the prophecy of Oded the prophet, he took courage, and put away the abominations out of all the land of Judah and Benjamin, and out of the cities which he had taken from the hill country of Ephraim; and he renewed the altar of Yahweh, that was before the porch of Yahweh.
8چون آسا کلام و پیام خداوند را از زبان عَزَریا، پسر عودید شنید، جرأت یافت و تمام بتها را از سراسر سرزمین یَهُودا و بنیامین و همچنین بتهای شهرهائی را که در کوهستان افرایم تصرف کرده بود، از بین بُرد. قربانگاه خداوند را که در پیش روی برندۀ عبادتگاه بود ترمیم کرد.
9He gathered all Judah and Benjamin, and those who lived with them out of Ephraim and Manasseh, and out of Simeon: for they fell to him out of Israel in abundance, when they saw that Yahweh his God was with him.
9بعد تمام مردم یَهُودا و بنیامین و همچنان یک تعداد زیاد مهاجرین قبایل افرایم، مَنَسّی و شمعون را جمع کرد. (مردم این سه قبیله وقتی خبر شدند که خداوند با آسا است، به آنجا مهاجرت کردند.)
10So they gathered themselves together at Jerusalem in the third month, in the fifteenth year of the reign of Asa.
10پس این گروه عظیم در ماه سوم سال پانزدهم سلطنت آسا در اورشلیم گِرد آمدند.
11They sacrificed to Yahweh in that day, of the spoil which they had brought, seven hundred head of cattle and seven thousand sheep.
11در آن روز هفتصد گاو و هفت هزار گوسفند از غنیمتی که با خود آورده بودند، برای خداوند قربانی کردند.
12They entered into the covenant to seek Yahweh, the God of their fathers, with all their heart and with all their soul;
12بعد با تمام دل و جان عهد نمودند که تنها خداوند، خدای اسرائیل را پرستش کنند.
13and that whoever would not seek Yahweh, the God of Israel, should be put to death, whether small or great, whether man or woman.
13و هر کسیکه این پیمان را بشکند، خواه کوچک باشد خواه بزرگ، خواه مرد باشد خواه زن، باید کشته شود.
14They swore to Yahweh with a loud voice, and with shouting, and with trumpets, and with cornets.
14آنگاه همگی با خوشی و با آواز بلند و با نوای شیپور و نَی قَسَم خوردند که به پیمان وفادار بمانند.
15All Judah rejoiced at the oath; for they had sworn with all their heart, and sought him with their whole desire; and he was found of them: and Yahweh gave them rest all around.
15همه مردم یَهُودا خوشی کردند، زیرا قَسَمی که خوردند از دل و جان بود و چون در طلب خداوند بودند او را یافتند و خداوند هم از هر طرف به آن ها صلح و آرامش بخشید.
16Also Maacah, the mother of Asa the king, he removed from being queen, because she had made an abominable image for an Asherah; and Asa cut down her image, and made dust of it, and burnt it at the brook Kidron.
16آسا حتی مادر خود، مَعکه را از مقام او بعنوان ملکه برطرف کرد، زیرا که او بت اَشیره را ساخته بود. آسا آن بت را شکست و خُرد کرد و در وادی قِدرون سوختاند.
17But the high places were not taken away out of Israel: nevertheless the heart of Asa was perfect all his days.
17آسا معابد بالای تپه ها را از بین نبُرد، لیکن در سراسر عمر خود بپاکی و ایمانداری زندگی کرد.
18He brought into God’s house the things that his father had dedicated, and that he himself had dedicated, silver, and gold, and vessels.
18همه چیزهائی را که پدرش وقف کرده بود همراه با اشیائی که خودش وقف کرد و شامل ظروف نقره و طلا بودند به عبادتگاه خداوند آورد.تا سال سی و پنجمین سلطنت آسا جنگی رخ نداد و صلح کامل برقرار بود.
19There was no more war to the five and thirtieth year of the reign of Asa.
