¹Jehoshaphat his son reigned in his place, and strengthened himself against Israel.

¹یَهُوشافاط بجای پدر خود پادشاه شد. او قوای خود را در مقابل اسرائیل استحکام بخشید

²He placed forces in all the fortified cities of Judah, and set garrisons in the land of Judah, and in the cities of Ephraim, which Asa his father had taken.

²و در همه شهرهای یَهُودا مستقر کرد. او همچنین یک عده از پهره داران خود را در سراسر سرزمین یَهُودا و شهرهای افرایم که پدرش تصرف کرده بود، برای محافظت آن ها گماشت.

³Yahweh was with Jehoshaphat, because he walked in the first ways of his father David, and didn’t seek the Baals,

³خداوند با یَهُوشافاط بود، زیرا او از کارهای خوبی که پدرش در اوایل داشت، پیروی کرد و از پرستش بتها اجتناب ورزید.

⁴but sought to the God of his father, and walked in his commandments, and not after the doings of Israel.

⁴او از اوامر خدای پدر خود اطاعت کرد و در راه غلط مردم اسرائیل قدم برنداشت.

⁵Therefore Yahweh established the kingdom in his hand; and all Judah brought to Jehoshaphat tribute; and he had riches and honor in abundance.

⁵لهذا، خداوند سلطنت او را قوی و استوار ساخت. تمام مردم یَهُودا برای یَهُوشافاط هدیه و تحفه می آوردند، بنابران، او دارای ثروت و حشمت زیادی شد.

⁶His heart was lifted up in the ways of Yahweh: and furthermore he took away the high places and the Asherim out of Judah.

⁶دلش برای کسب رضای خداوند مشتاق بود. او علاوتاً معابد بالای تپه ها و بتهای اَشیره را از یَهُودا از بین بُرد.

⁷Also in the third year of his reign he sent his princes, even Ben Hail, and Obadiah, and Zechariah, and Nethanel, and Micaiah, to teach in the cities of Judah;

⁷در سال سوم سلطنت خود یک عده از مأمورین دولتی را که عبارت از بِنحایَل، عوبَدیا، زکریا، نتنئیل و میکایا بودند، برای تعلیم و آموزش مردم به شهرهای یَهُودا فرستاد.

⁸and with them the Levites, even Shemaiah, and Nethaniah, and Zebadiah, and Asahel, and Shemiramoth, and Jehonathan, and Adonijah, and Tobijah, and Tobadonijah, the Levites; and with them Elishama and Jehoram, the priests.

⁸همراه آن ها یک تعداد از لاویان، یعنی شِمَعیه، نَتَنیا، زَبَدیا، عَسائیل، شمیراموت، یَهُوناتان، اَدُنیا، طوبیا، توب اَدُنیا و همچنین دو نفر کاهن هم بنامهای الیشمع و یَهُورام بودند.

⁹They taught in Judah, having the book of the law of Yahweh with them; and they went about throughout all the cities of Judah, and taught among the people.

⁹آن ها از نسخه های کتاب تورات خداوند که با خود داشتند، در همه شهرهای یَهُودا تعلیم می دادند.

¹⁰The fear of Yahweh fell on all the kingdoms of the lands that were around Judah, so that they made no war against Jehoshaphat.

¹⁰ترس خداوند تمام سلطنت ها و کشورهای اطراف یَهُودا را فراگرفت و از جنگ با یَهُوشافاط خودداری کردند.

¹¹Some of the Philistines brought Jehoshaphat presents, and silver for tribute; the Arabians also brought him flocks, seven thousand and seven hundred rams, and seven thousand and seven hundred male goats.

¹¹حتی بعضی از فلسطینی ها برای یَهُوشافاط تحفه و نقره بعنوان جزیه می آوردند و عربها هم برای او هفت هزار و هفتصد قوچ و هفت هزار و هفتصد بُز نر تحفه آوردند.

¹²Jehoshaphat grew great exceedingly; and he built in Judah castles and cities of store.

¹²قدرت و شهرت یَهُوشافاط روزافزون بود. قلعه ها و شهرها برای ذخیره و انبار آباد کرد.

¹³He had many works in the cities of Judah; and men of war, mighty men of valor, in Jerusalem.

¹³و ذخایر بزرگی در شهرهای یَهُودا و عساکر شجاع و مردان جنگجو و دلاور در اورشلیم داشت.

¹⁴This was the numbering of them according to their fathers’ houses: Of Judah, the captains of thousands: Adnah the captain, and with him mighty men of valor three hundred thousand;

¹⁴شمارۀ آن ها بر حسب خاندان شان قرار ذیل است: از یَهُودا فرمانده یکهزار نفری: اول اَدُنَه با سیصد هزار مردان جنگی.

¹⁵and next to him Jehohanan the captain, and with him two hundred eighty thousand;

¹⁵دوم یَهُوحانان، سرکردۀ دوصد و هشتاد هزار نفر،

¹⁶and next to him Amasiah the son of Zichri, who willingly offered himself to Yahweh; and with him two hundred thousand mighty men of valor.

¹⁶سوم عَمَسیا، پسر زِکری که خود را وقف خداوند کرده بود، سرکردگی دوصد هزار نفر را بعهده داشت.

¹⁷Of Benjamin: Eliada a mighty man of valor, and with him two hundred thousand armed with bow and shield;

¹⁷از بنیامین: اول اَلِیاداع، مرد شجاع و جنگجو سرکردۀ دوصد هزار نفر مجهز با کمان و سپر.

¹⁸and next to him Jehozabad and with him one hundred eighty thousand ready prepared for war.

¹⁸دوم یَهُوزاباد سرکردۀ یکصد و هشتاد هزار نفر آماده برای جنگ.اینها مردانی بودند برای خدمت شاه در اورشلیم. اینها غیر از سربازانی بودند که در شهرهای مستحکم سراسر یَهُودا گماشته شده بودند.

¹⁹These were those who waited on the king, besides those whom the king put in the fortified cities throughout all Judah.
