1It happened, when Yahweh would take up Elijah by a whirlwind into heaven, that Elijah went with Elisha from Gilgal.
1وقت آن بود که خداوند ایلیا را با گِردبادی به آسمان ببرد، هنگامی که ایلیا همراه الیشع از جِلجال خارج می شد،
2Elijah said to Elisha, “Please wait here, for Yahweh has sent me as far as Bethel.” Elisha said, “As Yahweh lives, and as your soul lives, I will not leave you.” So they went down to Bethel.
2ایلیا به الیشع گفت: «تو اینجا باش، زیرا خداوند به من امر فرموده است که به بیت ئیل بروم.» اما الیشع گفت: «به حیات خداوند و به زندگی تو قسم است که از تو جدا نمی شوم.» پس هر دو رهسپار بیت ئیل شدند.
3The sons of the prophets who were at Bethel came out to Elisha, and said to him, “Do you know that Yahweh will take away your master from your head today?” He said, “Yes, I know it; hold your peace.”
3گروهی انبیائی که در بیت ئیل زندگی می کردند پیش الیشع آمده گفتند: «آیا خبر داری که خداوند امروز استادت را از تو جدا می کند؟» او جواب داد: «بلی، می دانم، اما نباید حرفی در اینباره بزنیم.»
4Elijah said to him, “Elisha, please wait here, for Yahweh has sent me to Jericho.” He said, “As Yahweh lives, and as your soul lives, I will not leave you.” So they came to Jericho.
4ایلیا به الیشع گفت: «تو همینجا بمان، زیرا خداوند به من فرموده است که به اریحا بروم.» الیشع گفت: «بحیات خداوند و به زندگی تو قسم است که ترا ترک نمی کنم.» پس آن ها به اریحا رفتند.
5The sons of the prophets who were at Jericho came near to Elisha, and said to him, “Do you know that Yahweh will take away your master from your head today?” He answered, “Yes, I know it. Hold your peace.”
5گروه انبیائی که در اریحا بودند، پیش الیشع آمدند و به او گفتند: «آیا می دانی که خداوند استادت را از پیش تو می برد؟» او جواب داد: «بلی، می دانم. خاموش باشید.»
6Elijah said to him, “Please wait here, for Yahweh has sent me to the Jordan.” He said, “As Yahweh lives, and as your soul lives, I will not leave you.” They both went on.
6باز ایلیا به الیشع گفت: «تو همینجا باش، زیرا خداوند به من امر کرده است که به اُردن سفر کنم.» اما او جواب داد: «بزندگی خداوند و بسر تو قسم است که ترا ترک نمی کنم.» بنابران هردوی شان رهسپار دریای اردن شدند.
7Fifty men of the sons of the prophets went, and stood opposite them at a distance; and they both stood by the Jordan.
7پنجاه نفر از گروه انبیاء از اریحا هم بدنبال شان رفتند. ایلیا و الیشع در کنار دریا توقف کردند. آن پنجاه نفر هم کمی دورتر روبروی شان ایستادند.
8Elijah took his mantle, and wrapped it together, and struck the waters, and they were divided here and there, so that they two went over on dry ground.
8آنگاه ایلیا ردای خود را گرفت و آنرا پیچاند و آب را زد. آب دو شق شد و هر دو از بستر خشک دریا گذشتند.
9It happened, when they had gone over, that Elijah said to Elisha, “Ask what I shall do for you, before I am taken from you.” Elisha said, “Please let a double portion of your spirit be on me.”
9وقتی به آن طرف دریا رسیدند، ایلیا به الیشع گفت: «پیش از آنکه از تو جدا شوم چه می خواهی که برایت بدهم؟» الیشع جواب داد: «می خواهم نسبت به انبیای دیگر دو چند قدرت روح داشته باشم.»
10He said, “You have asked a hard thing. If you see me when I am taken from you, it shall be so for you; but if not, it shall not be so.”
10ایلیا گفت: «بجا آوردن خواهشت کار سختی است، اما با آنهم اگر بچشمت دیدی که من به آسمان می روم آن وقت چیزی را که خواستی به دست خواهی آورد، در غیر آن خواهشت برآورده نخواهد شد.»
11It happened, as they still went on, and talked, that behold, a chariot of fire and horses of fire separated them; and Elijah went up by a whirlwind into heaven.
11آن ها صحبت کنان براه خود می رفتند که دفعتاً عرادۀ آتشینی با اسپهای آتشین بین آن ها ظاهر گردیدند و ایلیا در گِردبادی به آسمان برده شد.
12Elisha saw it, and he cried, “My father, my father, the chariots of Israel and its horsemen!” He saw him no more: and he took hold of his own clothes, and tore them in two pieces.
12چون الیشع آن صحنه را مشاهده کرد، فریاد زد و به ایلیا گفت: «ای پدرم! ای پدرم! ای پشتیبان و حامی اسرائیل!» وقتی آن ها از نظرش ناپدید شدند، از غصه یخن خود را پاره کرد.
13He took up also the mantle of Elijah that fell from him, and went back, and stood by the bank of the Jordan.
13بعد ردای ایلیا را برداشت و به کنار دریا برگشت و در آنجا ایستاد
14He took the mantle of Elijah that fell from him, and struck the waters, and said, “Where is Yahweh, the God of Elijah?” When he also had struck the waters, they were divided here and there; and Elisha went over.
14و آب را با ردای ایلیا زد و گفت: «کجاست خداوند، خدای ایلیا؟» بمجردیکه آب را زد، آب دریا دو شق شد و الیشع از بستر خشک دریا گذشت.
15When the sons of the prophets who were at Jericho over against him saw him, they said, “The spirit of Elijah rests on Elisha.” They came to meet him, and bowed themselves to the ground before him.
15چون گروه انبیائی که در اریحا بودند از دور او را دیدند، گفتند: «روح ایلیا بر او قرار گرفته است.» بعد آن ها به ملاقات او رفتند و سر تعظیم در برابر او خم کردند
16They said to him, “See now, there are with your servants fifty strong men. Please let them go and seek your master. Perhaps the Spirit of Yahweh has taken him up, and put him on some mountain, or into some valley. He said, “You shall not send them.”
16و به او گفتند: «ما پنجاه نفر، همه مردان نیرومند در خدمتت حاضر و آماده هستیم. لطفاً اجازه بده که بجستجوی استادت برویم. شاید روح خداوند او را برداشته بر کدام کوه یا در دره ای انداخته باشد.» او جواب داد: «نی، زحمت نکشید.»
17When they urged him until he was ashamed, he said, “Send them.” They sent therefore fifty men; and they searched for three days, but didn’t find him.
17اما چون آن ها بسیار اصرار کردند او مجبور شد و به آن ها اجازه داد که بروند. پس آن ها رفتند و برای سه روز همه جا را جستجو کردند، اما او را نیافتند.
18They came back to him, while he stayed at Jericho; and he said to them, “Didn’t I tell you, ‘Don’t go?’”
18وقتی پیش الیشع که در اریحا منتظر شان بود برگشتند، الیشع به آن ها گفت: «بشما نگفتم که نروید؟»
19The men of the city said to Elisha, “Behold, please, the situation of this city is pleasant, as my lord sees; but the water is bad, and the land miscarries.”
19یک روز چند نفر از مردم اریحا پیش الیشع آمدند و گفتند: «قراری که می بینی این شهر دارای موقعیت خوبی است، اما آب آن ناگوار است و باعث نقصان کردن زنها می گردد.»
20He said, “Bring me a new jar, and put salt in it.” They brought it to him.
20الیشع به آن ها گفت: «کمی نمک در یک کاسۀ نَو انداخته برای من بیاورید.» آن ها کاسه را با نمک برایش آوردند.
21He went out to the spring of the waters, and threw salt into it, and said, “Thus says Yahweh, ‘I have healed these waters. There shall not be from there any more death or miscarrying.’”
21آنگاه الیشع به چشمۀ آب رفت و نمک را در آب ریخت و گفت که خداوند می فرماید: «من این آب را گوارا ساختم. از این ببعد باعث مرگ و نقصان کردن زنها نخواهد شد.»
22So the waters were healed to this day, according to the word of Elisha which he spoke.
22بنابراین، همانطوریکه الیشع گفت آب آن سرزمین از همان روز ببعد آشامیدنی و گوارا گردید.
23He went up from there to Bethel. As he was going up by the way, some youths came out of the city and mocked him, and said to him, “Go up, you baldy! Go up, you baldhead!”
23الیشع از آنجا به بیت ئیل رفت؛ در حالیکه در راه خود روان بود یک تعداد پسر جوان از شهر بیرون آمده او را مسخره کردند و گفتند: «ای مرد کله طاس، از این شهر خارج شو!»
24He looked behind him and saw them, and cursed them in the name of Yahweh. Two female bears came out of the woods, and mauled forty-two of those youths.
24الیشع به عقب برگشته به آن ها خیره شد و همه را بنام خداوند لعنت کرد. آنگاه دو خرس ماده از جنگل بیرون آمده و چهل و دو نفر آن ها را دریدند.سپس از آنجا به کوه کَرمَل رفت و بعد به سامره برگشت.
25He went from there to Mount Carmel, and from there he returned to Samaria.
25سپس از آنجا به کوه کَرمَل رفت و بعد به سامره برگشت.
