1Now Elisha had spoken to the woman, whose son he had restored to life, saying, “Arise, and go, you and your household, and stay for a while wherever you can; for Yahweh has called for a famine. It shall also come on the land seven years.”
1الیشع به آن زنی که پسرش را زنده کرده بود گفت: «فامیلت را گرفته به یک مُلک دیگر برو، زیرا خداوند بر زمین یک قحطی را می آورد که مدت هفت سال دوام می کند.»
2The woman arose, and did according to the word of the man of God. She went with her household, and lived in the land of the Philistines seven years.
2پس آن زن به پیروی از هدایت الیشع به کشور فلسطینی ها رفت و برای هفت سال در آنجا ماند.
3It happened at the seven years’ end, that the woman returned out of the land of the Philistines. Then she went forth to cry to the king for her house and for her land.
3بعد از ختم هفت سال آن زن وقتی از کشور فلسطینی ها برگشت، پیش پادشاه رفت تا از او خواهش کند که خانه و مُلک او را برایش مسترد نماید.
4Now the king was talking with Gehazi the servant of the man of God, saying, “Please tell me all the great things that Elisha has done.”
4در این وقت پادشاه با جیحزی، خادم الیشع صحبت می کرد و از او خواست تا از کارهای بزرگی که الیشع انجام داده بود برایش بیان کند.
5It happened, as he was telling the king how he had restored to life him who was dead, that behold, the woman, whose son he had restored to life, cried to the king for her house and for her land. Gehazi said, “My lord, O king, this is the woman, and this is her son, whom Elisha restored to life.”
5در حینیکه جیحزی قصه می کرد که الیشع چطور طفل مرده ای را زنده ساخت، ناگهان مادر همان طفل از دروازه وارد شد و عریضۀ خود را در بارۀ استرداد دارائی اش بحضور پادشاه تقدیم کرد. جیحزی گفت: «ای پادشاه، این همان زنی است که الیشع پسرش را زنده کرد!»
6When the king asked the woman, she told him. So the king appointed to her a certain officer, saying, “Restore all that was hers, and all the fruits of the field since the day that she left the land, even until now.”
6پادشاه از آن زن پرسید: «آیا این حرف او حقیقت دارد؟» او در جواب سوال پادشاه حرف جیحزی را تصدیق کرد. بنابران پادشاه به یکی از مأمورین خود هدایت داده گفت: «همه دارائی او را برایش مسترد کن. برعلاوه عایدات و حاصلات زمین او را از همان روزیکه از اینجا رفت تا حال حاضر به او بده.»
7Elisha came to Damascus; and Benhadad the king of Syria was sick. It was told him, saying, “The man of God has come here.”
7الیشع وقتی به دمشق رفت بنهدد، پادشاه ارام مریض بود. چون به پادشاه خبر دادند که الیشع به آنجا آمده است،
8The king said to Hazael, “Take a present in your hand, and go, meet the man of God, and inquire of Yahweh by him, saying, ‘Will I recover from this sickness?’”
8به حَزایل گفت: «تحفه ای با خود گرفته پیش الیشع برو و از او خواهش کن تا از خداوند بپرسد که آیا من از این مریضی شفا می یابم یا نه.»
9So Hazael went to meet him, and took a present with him, even of every good thing of Damascus, forty camels’ burden, and came and stood before him, and said, “Your son Benhadad king of Syria has sent me to you, saying, ‘Will I recover from this sickness?’”
9پس حَزایل هر قسم تحفه های نفیس پیداوار دمشق را بر چهل شتر بار کرد و به ملاقات الیشع رفت. در برابر او ایستاد و گفت: «خدمتگارت بنهدد، پادشاه ارام مرا بحضور تو فرستاد تا بپرسم که آیا او از مرضی که دارد شفا می یابد یا نه.»
10Elisha said to him, “Go, tell him, ‘You shall surely recover;’ however Yahweh has shown me that he shall surely die.”
10الیشع گفت: «بلی، او شفا می یابد، اما خداوند به من فرمود که او حتماً می میرد.»
11He settled his gaze steadfastly on him, until he was ashamed. Then the man of God wept.
11بعد الیشع خیره به او نگاه کرد تا آنکه حَزایل خجل شد و آنگاه الیشع بگریه افتاد.
12Hazael said, “Why do you weep, my lord?” He answered, “Because I know the evil that you will do to the children of Israel. You will set their strongholds on fire, and you will kill their young men with the sword, and will dash in pieces their little ones, and rip up their women with child.”
12حَزایل پرسید: «آقا، چرا گریه می کنی؟» او جواب داد: «چون می دانم که تو چه مصیبتی بر سر مردم اسرائیل می آوری، من بخاطر آن گریه می کنم. زیرا تو قلعه های شان را آتش می زنی، جوانان شان را با شمشیر می کشی، اطفال آن ها را تکه تکه می کنی و شکم زنان حاملۀ شانرا می دری.»
13Hazael said, “But what is your servant, who is but a dog, that he should do this great thing?” Elisha answered, “Yahweh has shown me that you will be king over Syria.”
13حَزایل گفت: «من چه سگ هستم که آن کار را بکنم.» الیشع جواب داد: «خداوند به من الهام فرمود که تو پادشاه ارام می شوی.»
14Then he departed from Elisha, and came to his master, who said to him, “What did Elisha say to you?” He answered, “He told me that you would surely recover.”
14بعد حَزایل از پیش الیشع رفت و به نزد آقای خود، بنهدد برگشت. شاه از او پرسید: «الیشع در بارۀ من چه گفت؟» او جواب داد: «او گفت که تو شفا می یابی.»
15It happened on the next day, that he took a thick cloth, dipped it in water, and spread it on his face, so that he died. Then Hazael reigned in his place.
15اما فردای آن حَزایل لحاف بنهدد را گرفت و آنرا در آب تر کرد و رویش را پوشاند تا نَفَسش قطع شد و مُرد و حَزایل خودش جانشین او شد.
16In the fifth year of Joram the son of Ahab king of Israel, Jehoshaphat being king of Judah then, Jehoram the son of Jehoshaphat king of Judah began to reign.
16در سال پنجم سلطنت یُورام، پسر اخاب بود که یَهُورام، پسر یهوشافاط پادشاه یهودا شد. او سی و دو ساله بود که به سلطنت رسید و مدت هشت سال در اورشلیم پادشاهی کرد.
17He was thirty-two years old when he began to reign. He reigned eight years in Jerusalem.
17او مثل خانوادۀ اخاب، راه و روش پادشاهان اسرائیل را در پیش گرفت. دختر اخاب زن او بود و با اعمال زشت خود خداوند را ناراضی ساخت.
18He walked in the way of the kings of Israel, as did the house of Ahab; for he had the daughter of Ahab as wife. He did that which was evil in the sight of Yahweh.
18با وجود اینها خداوند یهودا را از بین نبرد، زیرا به بندۀ خود داود وعده داده بود که اولادۀ او همیشه پادشاهی می کنند و چراغ او در اورشلیم دایم روشن می باشد.
19However Yahweh would not destroy Judah, for David his servant’s sake, as he promised him to give to him a lamp for his children always.
19در دوران سلطنت او مردم ادوم برضد دولت یهودا شورش کردند و برای خود یک حکومت مستقل تشکیل دادند.
20In his days Edom revolted from under the hand of Judah, and made a king over themselves.
20بنابران یُورام با تمام عراده های خود بطرف صعیر حرکت کرد. اما در آنجا اردوی ادوم او را با سپاهش محاصره کرد. یُورام از تاریکی شب استفاده نمود و صف دشمن را شگافته فرار کرد و لشکرش هم به خانه های خود گریختند.
21Then Joram passed over to Zair, and all his chariots with him: and he rose up by night, and struck the Edomites who surrounded him, and the captains of the chariots; and the people fled to their tents.
21از آن ببعد ادومیان تا به امروز استقلال خود را حفظ کردند. در همان وقت مردم لِبنَه هم دست بشورش زدند.
22So Edom revolted from under the hand of Judah to this day. Then Libnah revolted at the same time.
22بقیۀ وقایع دوران سلطنت یُورام و کارهای او در کتاب تاریخ پادشاهان یهودا ثبت اند.
23The rest of the acts of Joram, and all that he did, aren’t they written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Judah?
23بعد یُورام درگذشت و با اجداد خود پیوست و با آن ها در شهر داود بخاک سپرده شد. پسرش، اخزیا بجای او بر تخت سلطنت نشست.
24Joram slept with his fathers, and was buried with his fathers in the city of David; and Ahaziah his son reigned in his place.
24در سال دوازدهم سلطنت یُورام، پسر اخاب، اخزیا، پسر یَهُورام پادشاه یهودا شد.
25In the twelfth year of Joram the son of Ahab king of Israel, Ahaziah the son of Jehoram king of Judah began to reign.
25او در سن بیست و دو سالگی به سلطنت رسید و مدت یک سال در اورشلیم پادشاهی کرد. نام مادرش عتَلیا، دختر اخاب و نواسۀ عُمری پادشاه اسرائیل بود.
26Twenty-two years old was Ahaziah when he began to reign; and he reigned one year in Jerusalem. His mother’s name was Athaliah the daughter of Omri king of Israel.
26او هم راه و روش فامیل اخاب را دنبال کرد و مثل او مرتکب کارهای زشت شد و خداوند را از خود متنفر ساخت ـ زیرا او داماد اخاب بود.
27He walked in the way of the house of Ahab, and did that which was evil in the sight of Yahweh, as did the house of Ahab; for he was the son-in-law of the house of Ahab.
27اخزیا به اتفاق یُورام، پادشاه اسرائیل به جنگ حَزایل، پادشاه ارام به راموت جلعاد رفت. اما در آنجا به دست ارامیان زخمی شد.یُورام برای تداوی زخمِ که در رامه خورده بود به شهر یِزرعیل برگشت و اخزیا، پسر یَهُورام پادشاه یهودا برای عیادت او به آنجا رفت.
28He went with Joram the son of Ahab to war against Hazael king of Syria at Ramoth Gilead: and the Syrians wounded Joram.
28یُورام برای تداوی زخمِ که در رامه خورده بود به شهر یِزرعیل برگشت و اخزیا، پسر یَهُورام پادشاه یهودا برای عیادت او به آنجا رفت.
29King Joram returned to be healed in Jezreel of the wounds which the Syrians had given him at Ramah, when he fought against Hazael king of Syria. Ahaziah the son of Jehoram king of Judah went down to see Joram the son of Ahab in Jezreel, because he was sick.
