¹Now about that time, King Herod stretched out his hands to oppress some of the assembly.

¹در همان موقع هیرودیس پادشاه به شکنجه و آزار عده ای از اعضای کلیسا پرداخت

²He killed James, the brother of John, with the sword.

²و یعقوب برادر یوحنا را به شمشیر کشت.

³When he saw that it pleased the Jews, he proceeded to seize Peter also. This was during the days of unleavened bread.

³و چون دید یهودیان ازین کار خوش شان آمد قدم فراتر گذاشت و پِترُس را هم دستگیر نمود. این کار در ایام عید فطیر واقع شد.

⁴When he had arrested him, he put him in prison, and delivered him to four squads of four soldiers each to guard him, intending to bring him out to the people after the Passover.

⁴پس پِترُس را گرفته به زندان انداخت و چهار دسته چهار نفری را به نگهبانی او گماشت زیرا هیرودیس قصد داشت بعد از عید فِصَح او را تحویل قوم یهود بدهد.

⁵Peter therefore was kept in the prison, but constant prayer was made by the assembly to God for him.

⁵به این ترتیب پِترُس در زندان پیوسته تحت نظر بود و کلیسا شب و روز از صمیم قلب برای او به درگاه خدا دعا می کرد.

⁶The same night when Herod was about to bring him out, Peter was sleeping between two soldiers, bound with two chains. Guards in front of the door kept the prison.

⁶یک شب، قبل از آن روزی که هیرودیس می خواست پِترُس را به محکمه بیاورد، پِترُس در زندان بین دو عسکر با زنجیر بسته شده و به خواب رفته بود و نگهبانان پیش در زندان پهره می کردند.

⁷And behold, an angel of the Lord stood by him, and a light shone in the cell. He struck Peter on the side, and woke him up, saying, “Stand up quickly!” His chains fell off from his hands.

⁷ناگاه فرشته خداوند در کنار پِترُس ایستاد و نوری در آن اطاق درخشید. فرشته به پهلوی پِترُس زد و او را بیدار کرد و گفت: «زود برخیز.» فوراً زنجیر ها از دستهایش به زمین افتاد.

⁸The angel said to him, “Get dressed and put on your sandals.” He did so. He said to him, “Put on your cloak, and follow me.”

⁸فرشته به او فرمود: «کمر خود را ببند و چپلی هایت را بپوش» و او چنان کرد. سپس فرشته به او گفت: «ردای خود را دور خود بگیر و بدنبال من بیا.»

⁹And he went out and followed him. He didn’t know that what was being done by the angel was real, but thought he saw a vision.

⁹پس بدنبال او رفت و هیچ فکر نمی کرد آنچه فرشته انجام می داد، حقیقت داشته باشد. او گمان می کرد این وقایع را در خواب می بیند.

¹⁰When they were past the first and the second guard, they came to the iron gate that leads into the city, which opened to them by itself. They went out, and went down one street, and immediately the angel departed from him.

¹⁰وقتی از پاسگاههای اول و دوم گذشتند به دری آهنی که به طرف شهر باز می شد، رسیدند. دروازه خود به خود به روی آنها باز شد. آن ها بیرون رفتند، از کوچه ای می گذشتند که ناگهان فرشته ناپدید شد.

¹¹When Peter had come to himself, he said, “Now I truly know that the Lord has sent out his angel and delivered me out of the hand of Herod, and from everything the Jewish people were expecting.”

¹¹پِترُس به خود آمد و گفت: «حالا دیگر یقین دارم که خداوند فرشتۀ خود را فرستاده است که مرا از دست هیرودیس و از آنچه یهودیان انتظار آنرا داشتند برهاند.»

¹²Thinking about that, he came to the house of Mary, the mother of John whose surname was Mark, where many were gathered together and were praying.

¹²همینکه به موضوع پی برد به خانۀ مریم مادر یوحنا ملقب به مرقُس، که عدۀ زیادی در آنجا برای دعا گرد آمده بودند رفت.

¹³When Peter knocked at the door of the gate, a maid named Rhoda came to answer.

¹³وقتی دروازه خانه را کوبید، کنیزی به نام رودا آمد تا دروازه را باز کند.

¹⁴When she recognized Peter’s voice, she didn’t open the gate for joy, but ran in, and reported that Peter was standing in front of the gate.

¹⁴اما وقتی که صدای پِترُس را شناخت به عوض اینکه در را باز کند از خوشحالی فراوان برگشت تا مژده دهد که پِترُس بیرون دروازه ایستاده است.

¹⁵They said to her, “You are crazy!” But she insisted that it was so. They said, “It is his angel.”

¹⁵آن ها به او گفتند: «مگر دیوانه شده ای؟» اما او به گفته های خود بسیار محکم بود. سپس گفتند: «پس حتماً فرشتۀ محافظ اوست.»

¹⁶But Peter continued knocking. When they had opened, they saw him, and were amazed.

¹⁶اما پِترُس پشت سر هم دروازه را می زد و وقتی در را باز کردند و او را دیدند، غرق تعجب شدند.

¹⁷But he, beckoning to them with his hand to be silent, declared to them how the Lord had brought him out of the prison. He said, “Tell these things to James, and to the brothers.” Then he departed, and went to another place.

¹⁷پِترُس به آنها اشاره کرد تا خاموش شوند و برای ایشان شرح داد که چگونه خداوند او را از زندان نجات داده است و در آخر گفت: «یعقوب و برادران را از این امور باخبر کنید.» آنگاه ایشان را ترک کرد و به جای دیگر رفت.

¹⁸Now as soon as it was day, there was no small stir among the soldiers about what had become of Peter.

¹⁸وقتی روز شد، پهره داران بسیار پریشان شدند، زیرا نمی دانستند به سر پِترُس چه آمده است.

¹⁹When Herod had sought for him, and didn’t find him, he examined the guards, and commanded that they should be put to death. He went down from Judea to Caesarea, and stayed there.

¹⁹هرودیس امر کرد که همه جا دنبال پِترُس بگردند، اما وقتی او را پیدا نکردند از نگهبانان تحقیقات نمود و حکم اعدام آنها را صادر نمود. بعد از آن پِترُس یهودیه را ترک نموده به قیصریه آمد و مدتی در آنجا ماند.

²⁰Now Herod was very angry with the people of Tyre and Sidon. They came with one accord to him, and, having made Blastus, the king’s personal aide, their friend, they asked for peace, because their country depended on the king’s country for food.

²⁰هیرودیس بغض و کینۀ شدیدی نسبت به مردمان صور و صیدون در دل داشت. به این جهت اهالی آن دو شهر به اتفاق پیش او آمدند و بلاستوس را که فراش خوابگاه شاه بود، با خود همراه کردند و تقاضای صلح نمودند، زیرا کشور آنها در امر تغذیه و خوراک محتاج کشور هیرودیس بود.

²¹On an appointed day, Herod dressed himself in royal clothing, sat on the throne, and gave a speech to them.

²¹هیرودیس در یک روز معین لباس سلطنتی پوشید و بر تخت نشست و نطقی ایراد کرد.

²²The people shouted, “The voice of a god, and not of a man!”

²²در پایان مردم فریاد می زدند: «این سخنان، سخنان یکی از خدایان است نه یک انسان.»

²³Immediately an angel of the Lord struck him, because he didn’t give God the glory, and he was eaten by worms and died.

²³و چون هیرودیس جلالی را که از آن خداست به خود نسبت داده بود، در همان لحظه فرشته خداوند او را نقش زمین کرد و کرمها او را خوردند و او مُرد.

²⁴But the word of God grew and multiplied.

²⁴پیام خدا هر روز با تأثیر بیشتری انتشار می یافت.برنابا و شائول وقتی وظیفۀ خود را در اورشلیم به پایان رسانیدند به انطاکیه برگشتند و یوحنای ملقب به مرقُس را همراه خود بردند.

²⁵Barnabas and Saul returned to TR reads “from” instead of “to” Jerusalem, when they had fulfilled their service, also taking with them John whose surname was Mark.

²⁵برنابا و شائول وقتی وظیفۀ خود را در اورشلیم به پایان رسانیدند به انطاکیه برگشتند و یوحنای ملقب به مرقُس را همراه خود بردند.
