1You are the children of Yahweh your God: you shall not cut yourselves, nor make any baldness between your eyes for the dead.
1شما فرزندان خداوند، خدای تان هستید و مثل دیگران در ماتم مردگان، خود را زخمی نکنید و موی پیش روی سر تان را نتراشید،
2For you are a holy people to Yahweh your God, and Yahweh has chosen you to be a people for his own possession, above all peoples who are on the face of the earth.
2زیرا شما پیش خداوند، خدای تان مقدس هستید و او شما را از بین تمام ملل جهان برگزید تا قوم خاص او و متعلق به او باشید.
3You shall not eat any abominable thing.
3گوشت حیوان حرام را نخورید. اما گوشت این حیوانات را می توانید بخورید: گاو، گوسفند، بز،
4These are the animals which you may eat: the ox, the sheep, and the goat,
4آهو، غزال، گوزن و انواع بز کوهی.
5the hart, and the gazelle, and the roebuck, and the wild goat, and the ibex, and the antelope, and the chamois.
5هر حیوانی که سُم آن دو شق است و نشخوار می کند، می توانید گوشت آن را بخورید.
6Every animal that parts the hoof, and has the hoof cloven in two and chews the cud, among the animals, that may you eat.
6اما شتر، خرگوش و گورکن اگر چه سُم دو شق دارند و نشخوار می کنند، گوشت آن ها حرام است.
7Nevertheless these you shall not eat of them that chew the cud, or of those who have the hoof cloven: the camel, and the hare, and the rabbit; because they chew the cud but don’t part the hoof, they are unclean to you.
7خوک هم سُم دو شق دارد، ولی نشخوار نمی کند. پس شما نه گوشت این حیوان را بخورید و نه به لاشۀ آن دست بزنید.
8The pig, because it has a split hoof but doesn’t chew the cud, is unclean to you: of their flesh you shall not eat, and their carcasses you shall not touch.
8از حیواناتی که در آب زندگی می کنند تنها ماهیانی را که پَره و فَلَس دارند می توانید بخورید
9These you may eat of all that are in the waters: whatever has fins and scales may you eat;
9و آنهائی را که فاقد این دو چیز هستند نباید بخورید. آن ها حرام هستند.
10and whatever doesn’t have fins and scales you shall not eat; it is unclean to you.
10هر نوع پرنده را می توانید بخورید،
11Of all clean birds you may eat.
11بغیر از اینها: عقاب، بوم، باز، شاهین، کرگس، زاغ، شترمرغ، مرغ بحری، لگلگ، مرغ ماهیخوار، مرغ سقاء، هُدهُد و شب پَرۀ چرمی.
12But these are they of which you shall not eat: the eagle, and the vulture, and the osprey,
12تمام حشراتی که بال دارند، بغیر از عدۀ معدودی، حرام هستند و آن ها را نباید بخورید.
13and the red kite, and the falcon, and the kite after its kind,
13حیوانی را که به مرگ طبیعی مُرده باشد نباید بخورید، آنرا به مسافری که در شهر شما باشد بدهید که بخورد و یا آن را به بیگانگان بفروشید. خود تان نخورید، زیرا شما برای خداوند، خدای تان مقدس هستید.
بره یا بزغاله را در شیر مادرش نپزید.
14and every raven after its kind,
14از محصولات زمينهای تان هر ساله یکدهم آن ها را جدا کنید
15and the ostrich, and the owl, and the seagull, and the hawk after its kind,
15و آن را در جائی که خداوند، خدای تان بعنوان عبادتگاه خود تعیین می فرماید ببرید و در حضور او بخورید. این یکدهم شامل غله، شراب، روغن، اولباری های گله و رمه های تان می باشد. منظور از دادن یکدهم این است تا شما بیاموزید که خداوند، خدای تان را همیشه احترام کنید.
16the little owl, and the great owl, and the horned owl,
16اگر جائی را که خداوند بحیث عبادتگاه خود تعیین می کند آنقدر دور باشد که شما قادر به حمل یکدهم خود نباشید،
17and the pelican, and the vulture, and the cormorant,
17در آنصورت آنرا به پول تبدیل کرده پول را به یک عبادتگاه خداوند، خدای تان ببرید.
18and the stork, and the heron after its kind, and the hoopoe, and the bat.
18وقتی به آنجا رسیدید با پولی که در دست دارید می توانید گاو، گوسفند، شراب یا مشروبات دیگر و یا هر چیز دیگری که دل تان خواست بخرید و آنگاه در حضور خداوند، خدای تان با خانوادۀ خود بخورید، جشن بگیرید و خوشی کنید.
19All winged creeping things are unclean to you: they shall not be eaten.
19در عین حال لاویانی را که در شهر شما زندگی می کنند از یاد نبرید، زیرا آن ها از ملک و زمین سهمی نگرفته اند.
20Of all clean birds you may eat.
20در پایان هر سه سال باید تمام عُشریۀ محصولات خود را در شهر خود جمع کنیدو به لاویانی که در بین شما مُلک و زمین ندارند و همچنین بیگانگانی که ساکن آنجا هستند و به یتیمان و بیوه زنان بدهید که بخورند و سیر شوند تا خداوند، خدای شما در همه کارهای تان به شما برکت بدهد.
21You shall not eat of anything that dies of itself: you may give it to the foreigner living among you who is within your gates, that he may eat it; or you may sell it to a foreigner: for you are a holy people to Yahweh your God. You shall not boil a young goat in its mother’s milk.
21و به لاویانی که در بین شما مُلک و زمین ندارند و همچنین بیگانگانی که ساکن آنجا هستند و به یتیمان و بیوه زنان بدهید که بخورند و سیر شوند تا خداوند، خدای شما در همه کارهای تان به شما برکت بدهد.
22You shall surely tithe all the increase of your seed, that which comes forth from the field year by year.
23You shall eat before Yahweh your God, in the place which he shall choose, to cause his name to dwell there, the tithe of your grain, of your new wine, and of your oil, and the firstborn of your herd and of your flock; that you may learn to fear Yahweh your God always.
24If the way is too long for you, so that you are not able to carry it, because the place is too far from you, which Yahweh your God shall choose, to set his name there, when Yahweh your God shall bless you;
25then you shall turn it into money, and bind up the money in your hand, and shall go to the place which Yahweh your God shall choose:
26and you shall bestow the money for whatever your soul desires, for cattle, or for sheep, or for wine, or for strong drink, or for whatever your soul asks of you; and you shall eat there before Yahweh your God, and you shall rejoice, you and your household.
27The Levite who is within your gates, you shall not forsake him; for he has no portion nor inheritance with you.
28At the end of every three years you shall bring forth all the tithe of your increase in the same year, and shall lay it up within your gates:
29and the Levite, because he has no portion nor inheritance with you, and the foreigner living among you, and the fatherless, and the widow, who are within your gates, shall come, and shall eat and be satisfied; that Yahweh your God may bless you in all the work of your hand which you do.
