¹If one be found slain in the land which Yahweh your God gives you to possess it, lying in the field, and it isn’t known who has struck him;

¹در آن سرزمینی که خداوند، خدای تان به شما می دهد، هرگاه جسد مقتولی را که قاتلش معلوم نباشد، در صحرا بیابید،

²then your elders and your judges shall come forth, and they shall measure to the cities which are around him who is slain:

²آنگاه ریش سفیدان و قضات شما مسافه ای را که جسد افتاده است تا شهرهای اطراف اندازه کرده نزدیکترین شهر را تعیین نمایند.

³and it shall be, that the city which is nearest to the slain man, even the elders of that city shall take a heifer of the herd, which hasn’t been worked with, and which has not drawn in the yoke;

³بعد ریش سفیدان همان شهر نزدیک گوساله ای را که هنوز یوغی بر گردنش مانده نشده باشد بگیرند

⁴and the elders of that city shall bring down the heifer to a valley with running water, which is neither plowed nor sown, and shall break the heifer’s neck there in the valley.

⁴و آن را به دره ای ببرند که دارای آب جاری بوده ولی در زمین آن قلبه و کشت و کار نشده باشد. در آنجا گردن گوساله را بشکنند.

⁵The priests the sons of Levi shall come near; for them Yahweh your God has chosen to minister to him, and to bless in the name of Yahweh; and according to their word shall every controversy and every stroke be.

⁵سپس کاهنان لاوی هم به آنجا بروند، زیرا خداوند، خدای شما آن ها را انتخاب کرد تا در حضور او خدمت کنند، به نام او برکت بدهند و دعواها و قضایای عدلی را حل و فصل نمایند.

⁶All the elders of that city, who are nearest to the slain man, shall wash their hands over the heifer whose neck was broken in the valley;

⁶تمام ریش سفیدان آن شهر دستهای خود را بالای گوساله بشویند و

⁷and they shall answer and say, “Our hands have not shed this blood, neither have our eyes seen it.

⁷بگویند: «دستهای ما خون این مقتول را نریخته است و نه ما شاهد این قتل بوده ایم.

⁸Forgive, Yahweh, your people Israel, whom you have redeemed, and don’t allow innocent blood in the midst of your people Israel.” The blood shall be forgiven them.

⁸ای خداوند، قوم اسرائیل را که تو نجات داده ای ببخش و آن ها را به قتل مرد بی گناهی متهم مکن.» آنگاه شما مسئول خون بیگناهی که ریخته شده است نمی باشید.

⁹So you shall put away the innocent blood from the midst of you, when you shall do that which is right in the eyes of Yahweh.

⁹به این ترتیب با پیروی از اوامر خداوند، از این گناه پاک می شوید.

¹⁰When you go forth to battle against your enemies, and Yahweh your God delivers them into your hands, and you carry them away captive,

¹⁰وقتی بجنگ دشمن می روید و خداوند، خدای تان شما را فاتح ساخته دشمنان را به دست شما تسلیم می کند،

¹¹and see among the captives a beautiful woman, and you have a desire to her, and would take her to you as wife;

¹¹اگر در بین اسیران دختر زیبائی را ببینید و عاشق او بشوید و بخواهید با او عروسی کنید،

¹²then you shall bring her home to your house; and she shall shave her head, and pare her nails;

¹²می توانید او را به خانۀ تان ببرید. او باید سر خود را بتراشد، ناخنهای خود را بگیرد

¹³and she shall put the clothing of her captivity from off her, and shall remain in your house, and bewail her father and her mother a full month: and after that you shall go in to her, and be her husband, and she shall be your wife.

¹³و لباس خود را تبدیل کند. بعد یک ماه کامل برای پدر و مادر خود ماتم بگیرد. پس از آن می توانید او را به همسری خود اختیار کنید.

¹⁴It shall be, if you have no delight in her, then you shall let her go where she will; but you shall not sell her at all for money, you shall not deal with her as a slave, because you have humbled her.

¹⁴پسانتر اگر از او راضی نشدید او را آزاد نمائید و نباید او را بفروشید و یا مثل کنیز با او رفتار کنید، زیرا با او همبستر شده اید.

¹⁵If a man have two wives, the one beloved, and the other hated, and they have borne him children, both the beloved and the hated; and if the firstborn son be hers who was hated;

¹⁵هرگاه شخصی دو زن داشته باشد و هر دو صاحب پسر شود و پسر بزرگترش فرزند زن مورد علاقه اش نباشد،

¹⁶then it shall be, in the day that he causes his sons to inherit that which he has, that he may not make the son of the beloved the firstborn before the son of the hated, who is the firstborn:

¹⁶آن شخص نمی تواند در حصۀ میراث سهم زیادتری به پسر کوچکتر خود، یعنی فرزند زنی که دوست دارد، بدهد.

¹⁷but he shall acknowledge the firstborn, the son of the hated, by giving him a double portion of all that he has; for he is the beginning of his strength; the right of the firstborn is his.

¹⁷او باید دو حصه از دارائی خود را به پسر بزرگتر که فرزند ارشد او و شرعاً مستحق است، بدهد، هرچند که او پسر زن مورد علاقه اش نباشد.

¹⁸If a man have a stubborn and rebellious son, who will not obey the voice of his father, or the voice of his mother, and, though they chasten him, will not listen to them;

¹⁸اگر شخصی پسر سرکش و نا فرمان داشته باشد و با وجود سرزنش های مکرر، بازهم از والدین خود اطاعت نکند،

¹⁹then shall his father and his mother lay hold on him, and bring him out to the elders of his city, and to the gate of his place;

¹⁹پس پدر و مادرش او را گرفته پیش ریش سفیدان شهر ببرند

²⁰and they shall tell the elders of his city, “This our son is stubborn and rebellious, he will not obey our voice; he is a glutton, and a drunkard.”

²⁰و به آن ها بگویند: «این پسر ما سرکش و نافرمان است. از ما اطاعت نمی کند. پول را بیهوده ضایع می سازد و شرابخور است.»

²¹All the men of his city shall stone him to death with stones: so you shall put away the evil from the midst of you; and all Israel shall hear, and fear.

²¹آنگاه تمام مردم شهر او را سنگسار کنند تا بمیرد. به این ترتیب، شما شرارت را از بین خود دفع می کنید و همه مردم اسرائیل چون این ماجرا را بشنوند، خواهند ترسید.

²²If a man have committed a sin worthy of death, and he be put to death, and you hang him on a tree;

²²هرگاه شخصی مرتکب قتل شود که سزای آن مرگ است، پس از اعدام جسد او را به درختی بیاویزند.اما جسد او نباید تمام شب بالای درخت بماند، بلکه او را در همان روز دفن کنید، زیرا هر کسی که به درخت آویخته شده باشد، ملعون خدا است. پس جسد او را دفن کنید تا آن سرزمینی که خداوند، خدای تان به شما می دهد نجس نشود.

²³his body shall not remain all night on the tree, but you shall surely bury him the same day; for he who is hanged is accursed of God; that you don’t defile your land which Yahweh your God gives you for an inheritance.

²³اما جسد او نباید تمام شب بالای درخت بماند، بلکه او را در همان روز دفن کنید، زیرا هر کسی که به درخت آویخته شده باشد، ملعون خدا است. پس جسد او را دفن کنید تا آن سرزمینی که خداوند، خدای تان به شما می دهد نجس نشود.
