1If there is a controversy between men, and they come to judgment, and the judges judge them; then they shall justify the righteous, and condemn the wicked;
1هرگاه دو نفر با هم دعوائی داشته باشند و به محکمه بروند، قاضی باید بیگناه را تبرئه نماید و مجرم را محکوم کند.
2and it shall be, if the wicked man be worthy to be beaten, that the judge shall cause him to lie down, and to be beaten before his face, according to his wickedness, by number.
2اگر شخص مجرم مستحق دُره باشد قاضی به او امر کند که بروی زمین دراز بکشد به تناسب جرمش او را دُره بزنند
3Forty stripes he may give him, he shall not exceed; lest, if he should exceed, and beat him above these with many stripes, then your brother should seem vile to you.
3و نباید زیادتر از چهل دُره بخورد، زیرا بیشتر از آن او را در نظر مردم خوار و حقیر می سازد.
4You shall not muzzle the ox when he treads out the grain.
4دهان گاو را در وقت کوبیدن خرمن نبندید.
5If brothers dwell together, and one of them die, and have no son, the wife of the dead shall not be married outside to a stranger: her husband’s brother shall go in to her, and take her to him as wife, and perform the duty of a husband’s brother to her.
5هرگاه دو برادر با هم در یکجا زندگی کنند و یکی از آن ها بدون داشتن پسری بمیرد، بیوۀ او نباید به مرد بیگانه ای خارج از خانواده اش داده شود، بلکه برادر شوهرش با او عروسی کند تا حق برادر شوهری را بجا آورد
6It shall be, that the firstborn whom she bears shall succeed in the name of his brother who is dead, that his name not be blotted out of Israel.
6و پسر اولی که پس از این ازدواج بدنیا بیاید باید پسر برادر متوفی شمرده شود تا نام آن مرد از اسرائیل محو نگردد.
7If the man doesn’t want to take his brother’s wife, then his brother’s wife shall go up to the gate to the elders, and say, “My husband’s brother refuses to raise up to his brother a name in Israel; he will not perform the duty of a husband’s brother to me.”
7اما اگر برادر شوهرش میل نداشت که با او ازدواج کند، پس آن زن پیش ریش سفیدان شهر رفته بگوید: «برادر شوهرم وظیفۀ خود را در حق من اجراء نمی کند و نمی خواهد که نام برادرش در اسرائیل باقی بماند.»
8Then the elders of his city shall call him, and speak to him: and if he stand, and say, “I don’t want to take her”;
8آنگاه ریش سفیدان شهر آن مرد را احضار کرده با او صحبت کنند. هرگاه او اصرار کند و بگوید: «من علاقه ندارم که با او ازدواج کنم.»
9then his brother’s wife shall come to him in the presence of the elders, and loose his shoe from off his foot, and spit in his face; and she shall answer and say, “So shall it be done to the man who does not build up his brother’s house.”
9پس آن زن برود و در حضور ریش سفیدان شهر بوت او را از پایش بکشد و برویش تف بیندازد و بگوید: «کسی که چراغ خانۀ برادر خود را روشن نگاه نمی دارد سزایش اینست.»
10His name shall be called in Israel, The house of him who has his shoe untied.
10از آن ببعد فامیل آن مرد در سراسر اسرائیل به «خاندان بوت کشیده» معروف می شود.
11When men strive together one with another, and the wife of the one draws near to deliver her husband out of the hand of him who strikes him, and puts forth her hand, and takes him by the secrets;
11اگر مردی با مرد دیگری جنگ کند و زن یکی از آن ها برای کمک شوهر خود مداخله کرده از عورت مرد دیگر بگیرد،
12then you shall cut off her hand, your eye shall have no pity.
12دست آن زن باید بدون رحم قطع شود.
13You shall not have in your bag diverse weights, a great and a small.
13در کیسۀ تان دو نوع وزن، یکی سبک و یکی سنگین نداشته باشید.
14You shall not have in your house diverse measures, a great and a small.
14همچنین در خانۀ تان دو نوع وزن، یکی سبک و یکی سنگین وجود نداشته باشند.
15You shall have a perfect and just weight. You shall have a perfect and just measure, that your days may be long in the land which Yahweh your God gives you.
15از اوزان درست و دقیق کار بگیرید تا در سرزمینی که خداوند، خدای تان به شما می دهد عمر طولانی داشته باشید.
16For all who do such things, all who do unrighteously, are an abomination to Yahweh your God.
16هر کسی که در معاملات خود تقلب کند، مورد نفرت خداوند، خدای تان قرار می گیرد.
17Remember what Amalek did to you by the way as you came forth out of Egypt;
17بیاد دارید که وقتی از مصر خارج می شدید، مردم عمالیق با شما چه کردند؟
18how he met you by the way, and struck the hindmost of you, all who were feeble behind you, when you were faint and weary; and he didn’t fear God.
18هنگامی که شما از ضعف و خستگی سفر رنج می بردید به شما حمله نمودند و آنهائی را که عقب مانده بودند هلاک ساختند و از خدا نترسیدند.بنابران وقتی خداوند، خدای تان در سرزمینی که به شما می دهد از شر تمام دشمنان آرامی و آسایش بخشید، شما باید نام و خاطرۀ عمالیق را از روی زمین نابود کنید. این را فراموش نکنید.
19Therefore it shall be, when Yahweh your God has given you rest from all your enemies all around, in the land which Yahweh your God gives you for an inheritance to possess it, that you shall blot out the memory of Amalek from under the sky; you shall not forget.
19بنابران وقتی خداوند، خدای تان در سرزمینی که به شما می دهد از شر تمام دشمنان آرامی و آسایش بخشید، شما باید نام و خاطرۀ عمالیق را از روی زمین نابود کنید. این را فراموش نکنید.
