¹He said to me, Son of man, eat that which you find. Eat this scroll, and go, speak to the house of Israel.

¹او اضافه کرد: «ای انسان خاکی، این طومار را بخور و بعد پیش قوم اسرائیل برو.»

²So I opened my mouth, and he caused me to eat the scroll.

²پس دهانم را باز کردم و او طومار را داد که بخورم.

³He said to me, Son of man, cause your belly to eat, and fill your bowels with this scroll that I give you. Then I ate it; and it was as sweet as honey in my mouth.

³بعد گفت: «ای انسان خاکی، این طومار را بخور و با آن شکمت را پُر کن.» من آن را خوردم و مثل عسل شیرین بود.

⁴He said to me, Son of man, go to the house of Israel, and speak my words to them.

⁴بعد گفت: «ای انسان خاکی، پیش قوم اسرائیل برو و سخنان مرا کلمه به کلمه برای آن ها بیان کن.

⁵For you are not sent to a people of a strange speech and of a hard language, but to the house of Israel;

⁵من ترا نزد مردمی نمی فرستم که زبان شان مشکل و برای تو بیگانه باشد، بلکه ترا پیش قوم اسرائیل می فرستم.

⁶not to many peoples of a strange speech and of a hard language, whose words you can not understand. Surely, if I sent you to them, they would listen to you.

⁶اگر ترا نزد مردمی بفرستم که فهمیدن لسان شان برای تو مشکل باشد، باز هم به سخنان تو گوش می دهند،

⁷But the house of Israel will not listen to you; for they will not listen to me: for all the house of Israel are obstinate Literally, have a hard forehead and hard-hearted.

⁷اما قوم اسرائیل به سخنان تو توجه نمی کنند. آن ها حتی به کلام من هم گوش نمی دهند، زیرا اینها مردم لجوج و سنگدل هستند.

⁸Behold, I have made your face hard against their faces, and your forehead hard against their foreheads.

⁸پس حالا ترا مثل آن ها سرسخت و سنگدل می سازم

⁹As an adamant harder than flint have I made your forehead: don’t be afraid of them, neither be dismayed at their looks, though they are a rebellious house.

⁹و مانند سنگ محکم و همچون الماس سخت می گردانم تا از این مردم سرکش نترسی.»

¹⁰Moreover he said to me, Son of man, all my words that I shall speak to you receive in your heart, and hear with your ears.

¹⁰خداوند متعال به من فرمود: «ای انسان فانی، به سخنان من بدقت توجه کن و همه را بخاطر بسپار

¹¹Go to them of the captivity, to the children of your people, and speak to them, and tell them, Thus says the Lord Yahweh; whether they will hear, or whether they will forbear.

¹¹و بعد پیش قومت که تبعید شده اند برو و خواه بشنوند خواه نشنوند، کلام مرا به گوش آن ها برسان.»

¹²Then the Spirit lifted me up, and I heard behind me the voice of a great rushing, saying, Blessed be the glory of Yahweh from his place.

¹²بعد روح خدا مرا برداشت و از پشت سر من صدای مهیبی برخاست که می گفت: «متبارک باد جلال خداوند در جایگاه ملکوتی او!»

¹³I heard the noise of the wings of the living creatures as they touched one another, and the noise of the wheels beside them, even the noise of a great rushing.

¹³این صدای مهیب، صدای بهم خوردن بالهای آن چهار موجود زنده و چرخهای پهلوی آن ها بود.

¹⁴So the Spirit lifted me up, and took me away; and I went in bitterness, in the heat of my spirit; and the hand of Yahweh was strong on me.

¹⁴حضور خداوند را با تمام قدرتش احساس کردم و وقتی که روح، مرا برداشت و با خود برد، غم و اندوه وجودم را فراگرفت.

¹⁵Then I came to them of the captivity at Tel Aviv, that lived by the river Chebar, and to where they lived; and I sat there overwhelmed among them seven days.

¹⁵سپس به کنار دریای خابور در تِل ابیب، پیش یهودیانی که در حال تبعید زندگی می کردند، رفتم و مدت هفت روز در سودا و اندیشه بسر بردم.

¹⁶It happened at the end of seven days, that the word of Yahweh came to me, saying,

¹⁶بعد از هفت روز خداوند به من فرمود:

¹⁷Son of man, I have made you a watchman to the house of Israel: therefore hear the word from my mouth, and give them warning from me.

¹⁷«ای انسان خاکی، من ترا برگزیدم تا مراقب قوم اسرائیل باشی و هوشدارهائی که از من می شنوی به آن ها برسانی.

¹⁸When I tell the wicked, You shall surely die; and you give him no warning, nor speak to warn the wicked from his wicked way, to save his life; the same wicked man shall die in his iniquity; but his blood will I require at your hand.

¹⁸اگر من به شخص شریری اخطار بدهم که می میرد و تو اخطار مرا به او نرسانی و نگوئی که از کارهای بد خود توبه کند تا نجات یابد، در این صورت او به سبب گناهش می میرد. اما، من ترا مسئول مرگ او دانسته و خون او را از تو خواهانم.

¹⁹Yet if you warn the wicked, and he doesn’t turn from his wickedness, nor from his wicked way, he shall die in his iniquity; but you have delivered your soul.

¹⁹هرگاه به شخص بدکاری هوشدار بدهی و او باز هم توبه نکند و از گناه کردن دست نکشد، آنوقت او غرق در گناه می میرد اما تو مسئول نخواهی بود.

²⁰Again, when a righteous man does turn from his righteousness, and commit iniquity, and I lay a stumbling block before him, he shall die: because you have not given him warning, he shall die in his sin, and his righteous deeds which he has done shall not be remembered; but his blood will I require at your hand.

²⁰به همین ترتیب اگر یک شخص نیک و راستکار از راهِ راست انحراف کند و دست به اعمال بد بزند، من او را در وضع خطرناکی قرار می دهم و اگر تو به او گوشزد نکنی، بخاطر گناه خود هلاک می گردد. کارهای نیک او فراموش می شود و انتقام خون او را از تو می گیرم.

²¹Nevertheless if you warn the righteous man, that the righteous not sin, and he does not sin, he shall surely live, because he took warning; and you have delivered your soul.

²¹اما اگر تو به او هوشدار بدهی که از راه خطا برگردد و او توبه کند، آنوقت زنده می ماند، زیرا اخطار ترا جدی گرفته است و تو هم خود را از مرگ نجات می دهی.»

²²The hand of Yahweh was there on me; and he said to me, Arise, go forth into the plain, and I will there talk with you.

²²در آنجا بار دیگر حضور پُر شکوه خداوند را احساس کردم و به من فرمود: «برخیز و به دشت برو و من در آنجا با تو صحبت می کنم.»

²³Then I arose, and went forth into the plain: and behold, the glory of Yahweh stood there, as the glory which I saw by the river Chebar; and I fell on my face.

²³پس من برخاستم و به دشت رفتم و شکوه و جلال خداوند را همانطوری که در کنار دریای خابور دیده بودم، در آنجا نیز مشاهده کردم.

²⁴Then the Spirit entered into me, and set me on my feet; and he spoke with me, and said to me, Go, shut yourself inside your house.

²⁴روح خدا داخل من شد و مرا بپا ایستاده کرد. بعد خطاب به من نموده فرمود: «برو خود را در خانه ات محبوس کن.

²⁵But you, son of man, behold, they shall lay bands on you, and shall bind you with them, and you shall not go out among them:

²⁵ترا با ریسمان می بندند تا نتوانی بیرون بروی و با مردم یکجا باشی.

²⁶and I will make your tongue stick to the roof of your mouth, that you shall be mute, and shall not be to them a reprover; for they are a rebellious house.

²⁶من زبانت را به کامت می چسپانم تا گنگ شوی و نتوانی این قوم سرکش را سرزنش کنی.اما وقتی خواستم با تو حرف بزنم، زبانت را دوباره جاری می سازم تا پیام مرا، خداوند قادر مطلق، به مردم برسانی. آنوقت هر کسی که گوش شنوا دارد می شنود و کسی که سرکش و متمرد باشد نمی شنود.»

²⁷But when I speak with you, I will open your mouth, and you shall tell them, Thus says the Lord Yahweh: He who hears, let him hear; and he who forbears, let him forbear: for they are a rebellious house.

²⁷اما وقتی خواستم با تو حرف بزنم، زبانت را دوباره جاری می سازم تا پیام مرا، خداوند قادر مطلق، به مردم برسانی. آنوقت هر کسی که گوش شنوا دارد می شنود و کسی که سرکش و متمرد باشد نمی شنود.»
