¹Let us fear therefore, lest perhaps anyone of you should seem to have come short of a promise of entering into his rest.

¹پس چون این وعدۀ ورود به آرامی هنوز باقی است، ما باید بسیار متوجه باشیم مبادا کسی در میان شما پیدا شود که این فرصت را از دست داده باشد.

²For indeed we have had good news preached to us, even as they also did, but the word they heard didn’t profit them, because it wasn’t mixed with faith by those who heard.

²زیرا در واقع ما نیز مثل آنها مژده را شنیده ایم، اما این پیام برای آنها فایده ای نداشت، زیرا وقتی آن را شنیدند با ایمان به آن گوش ندادند.

³For we who have believed do enter into that rest, even as he has said, “As I swore in my wrath, they will not enter into my rest”; Psalm 95:11 although the works were finished from the foundation of the world.

³ما چون ایمان داریم، به آرامی او دست می یابیم. گرچه کار خدا در موقع آفرینش دنیا پایان یافت، او فرموده است:«در خشم خود سوگند یاد کردم که، آن ها هرگز به آرامی من داخل نخواهند شد.»

⁴For he has said this somewhere about the seventh day, “God rested on the seventh day from all his works”; Genesis 2:2

⁴زیرا در جایی در بارۀ روز هفتم چنین نوشته شده است:«خدا در روز هفتم از کار خود آرامی گرفت.»

⁵and in this place again, “They will not enter into my rest.” Psalm 95:11

⁵با وجود این، خدا در آیۀ فوق می فرماید:«هرگز به آرامی من نخواهند رسید.»

⁶Seeing therefore it remains that some should enter therein, and they to whom the good news was before preached failed to enter in because of disobedience,

⁶پس چون هنوز عده ای فرصت دارند به آن داخل شوند و همچنین چون آنانی که اول بشارت را شنیدند از روی نافرمانی و بی ایمانی به آن داخل نشدند،

⁷he again defines a certain day, today, saying through David so long a time afterward (just as has been said), “Today if you will hear his voice, don’t harden your hearts.” Psalm 95:7-8

⁷خدا روز دیگری ـ یعنی «امروز» را تعیین می کند، زیرا پس از سالیان دراز به وسیلۀ داود سخن گفته و با کلماتی که پیش از این نقل شد می فرماید:«امروز اگر صدای او را بشنوید، بغاوت نکنید.»

⁸For if Joshua had given them rest, he would not have spoken afterward of another day.

⁸اگر یوشع به آنها آرامی می بخشید، بعدها خدا دربارۀ روز دیگری چنین سخن نمی گفت.

⁹There remains therefore a Sabbath rest for the people of God.

⁹بنابراین استراحت دیگری مثل استراحت روز سَبَت در انتظار قوم خداست.

¹⁰For he who has entered into his rest has himself also rested from his works, as God did from his.

¹⁰زیرا هر کس به آرامی خدا داخل شود مثل خود خدا از کار خویش دست کشید.

¹¹Let us therefore give diligence to enter into that rest, lest anyone fall after the same example of disobedience.

¹¹پس سخت بکوشیم تا به آرامی او برسیم. مبادا کسی از ما گرفتار همان نافرمانی و بی ایمانی که قبلاً نمونه ای از آن را ذکر کردیم، بشود.

¹²For the word of God is living, and active, and sharper than any two-edged sword, and piercing even to the dividing of soul and spirit, of both joints and marrow, and is able to discern the thoughts and intentions of the heart.

¹²زیرا کلام خدا زنده و فعال و از هر شمشیر دو دَم تیزتر است و تا اعماق روح و نفس و مفاصل و مغز استخوان نفوذ می کند و نیات و اغراض دل انسان را آشکار می سازد.

¹³There is no creature that is hidden from his sight, but all things are naked and laid open before the eyes of him with whom we have to do.

¹³در آفرینش چیزی نیست که از خدا پوشیده بماند. همه چیز در برابر چشمان او برهنه و رو باز است و همۀ ما باید حساب خود را به او پس بدهیم.

¹⁴Having then a great high priest, who has passed through the heavens, Jesus, the Son of God, let us hold tightly to our confession.

¹⁴پس چون ما کاهنی به این بزرگی و عظمت داریم که به عرش برین رفته است، یعنی عیسی، پسر خدا، اعتراف ایمان خود را محکم نگاهداریم؛

¹⁵For we don’t have a high priest who can’t be touched with the feeling of our infirmities, but one who has been in all points tempted like we are, yet without sin.

¹⁵زیرا کاهن اعظم ما کسی نیست که از همدردی با ضعف های ما بی خبر باشد، بلکه کسی است که درست مانند ما در هر چیز وسوسه شد، ولی مرتکب گناه نگردید.پس بیائید تا با دلیری به تخت فیض بخش خدا نزدیک شویم تا رحمت یافته در وقت احتیاج از او فیض یابیم.

¹⁶Let us therefore draw near with boldness to the throne of grace, that we may receive mercy, and may find grace for help in time of need.
