1The word of Yahweh that came to Jeremiah concerning the drought.
1خداوند در مورد خشکسالی یهودا به ارمیا فرمود:
2Judah mourns, and its gates languish, they sit in black on the ground; and the cry of Jerusalem is gone up.
2«سرزمین یهودا عزادار است. شهرهایش رنج می برند و مردم با غم و اندوه بر زمین نشسته اند و آواز گریه و نالۀ شان از اورشلیم شنیده می شود.
3Their nobles send their little ones to the waters: they come to the cisterns, and find no water; they return with their vessels empty; they are disappointed and confounded, and cover their heads.
3ثروتمندان، خادمان خود را برای آوردن آب می فرستند. آن ها به ذخایر می آیند، اما از آب اثری نمی باشد. پس شرمنده و سرافگنده با ظرفهای خالی بر می گردند.
4Because of the ground which is cracked, because no rain has been in the land, the plowmen are disappointed, they cover their heads.
4زمین از خشکی چاک چاک شده است، زیرا هیچ باران نباریده است، بنابران، دهقانان مأیوس و غمگین اند.
5Yes, the hind also in the field calves, and forsakes her young, because there is no grass.
5حتی آهو نیز چوچه های خود را در صحرا ترک می کند، زیرا سبزه و گیاهی پیدا نمی شود.
6The wild donkeys stand on the bare heights, they pant for air like jackals; their eyes fail, because there is no herbage.
6گوره خرها هم بر تپه های خشک می ایستند و مانند شغالان از بی آبی نَفَسَک می زنند. بخاطر قلت خوراک چشمان شان ضعیف می شوند.»
7Though our iniquities testify against us, work for your name’s sake, Yahweh; for our backslidings are many; we have sinned against you.
7ای خداوند، گرچه گناهان ما علیه ما گواهی می دهند، بارها ترا ترک کرده ایم و در برابر تو گناه ورزیده ایم، اما بخاطر نامت به ما کمک فرما.
8You hope of Israel, its Savior in the time of trouble, why should you be as a foreigner in the land, and as a wayfaring man who turns aside to stay for a night?
8ای امید اسرائیل و ای رهائی بخش ما در وقت سختی، چرا مثل بیگانه ای که از سرزمین ما می گذرد و مانند مسافری که شبی مهمان ما می باشد، از ما بیگانه شده ای؟
9Why should you be like a scared man, as a mighty man who can’t save? Yet you, Yahweh, are in the midst of us, and we are called by your name; don’t leave us.
9چرا مانند جنگجوی ناتوانی که قادر نیست بجنگد، بیچاره گردیده ای؟ ای خداوند، تو در میان ما هستی و ما بنام تو یاد می شویم، پس ما را ترک نکن.
10Thus says Yahweh to this people, Even so have they loved to wander; they have not refrained their feet: therefore Yahweh does not accept them; now he will remember their iniquity, and visit their sins.
10خداوند در بارۀ این مردم چنین می فرماید: «آن ها دوست داشتند که از من دور و آواره شوند و بسوی من باز نگردند، بنابران، من هم آن ها را نمی پذیرم، گناهان شان را فراموش نمی کنم و به سزای اعمال شان می رسانم.»
11Yahweh said to me, Don’t pray for this people for their good.
11خداوند به من فرمود: «برای این مردم دعای خیر نکن.
12When they fast, I will not hear their cry; and when they offer burnt offering and meal offering, I will not accept them; but I will consume them by the sword, and by the famine, and by the pestilence.
12حتی اگر روزه هم بگیرند، به فریاد شان گوش نمی دهم و اگر برای من صدقه و قربانی بیاورند، قبول نمی کنم، بلکه آن ها را با شمشیر و قحطی و وبا هلاک می سازم.»
13Then I said, Ah, Lord Yahweh! behold, the prophets tell them, You shall not see the sword, neither shall you have famine; but I will give you assured peace in this place.
13آنگاه من گفتم: «ای خداوند، خدای متعال، انبیاء به آن ها می گویند که نه جنگ را می بینند و نه قحطی را. آن ها می گویند که تو به آن ها در این سرزمین صلح و آرامش واقعی عطا می کنی.»
14Then Yahweh said to me, The prophets prophesy lies in my name; I didn’t send them, neither have I commanded them, neither spoke I to them: they prophesy to you a lying vision, and divination, and a thing of nothing, and the deceit of their own heart.
14خداوند در جواب فرمود: «انبیاء به نام من به دروغ نبوت می کنند. پیامهای آن ها از جانب من نیست و نه من به آن ها امر کرده ام که آن پیامها را به مردم بدهند. آن ها با رؤیاهای دروغ، سِحر و جادو و از خیالات فریبندۀ خود نبوت می کنند.
15Therefore thus says Yahweh concerning the prophets who prophesy in my name, and I didn’t send them, yet they say, Sword and famine shall not be in this land: By sword and famine shall those prophets be consumed.
15بنابران، من خداوند، این انبیاء را که بنام من پیام هائی را که من به آن ها نداده ام به مردم می دهند و می گویند که جنگ نمی شود و قحطی نمی آید، با شمشیر و قحطی هلاک می سازم.
16The people to whom they prophesy shall be cast out in the streets of Jerusalem because of the famine and the sword; and they shall have none to bury them—them, their wives, nor their sons, nor their daughters: for I will pour their wickedness on them.
16همچنین این قومی که به پیامهای آن ها گوش می دهند، قربانی شمشیر و قحطی شده، جنازه های شان در کوچه های اورشلیم می افتند و هیچ کسی پیدا نمی شود که آن ها را دفن کنند. خود شان و همچنان زن و پسر و دختر آن ها را بخاطر گناهان شان جزا می دهم.
17You shall say this word to them, Let my eyes run down with tears night and day, and let them not cease; for the virgin daughter of my people is broken with a great breach, with a very grievous wound.
17به آن ها بگو: بگزار شب و روز از چشمانم اشکِ اندوه جاری شود و آرام و قرار نداشته باشم، زیرا قوم برگزیدۀ من زخم مهلکی خورده و صدمۀ بزرگی دیده است.
18If I go forth into the field, then, behold, the slain with the sword! and if I enter into the city, then, behold, those who are sick with famine! for both the prophet and the priest go about in the land, and have no knowledge.
18اگر به صحرا بروم کشتگان شمشیر را می بینم و اگر در شهر وارد شوم با کسانی بر می خورم که در اثر بیماری و گرسنگی در حال جان کندن هستند. انبیاء و کاهنان، هر دو، به همه جاهای کشور سفر می کنند و به مردم اطمینان می دهند که خطری وجود ندارد و از چیزهائی حرف می زنند که خود شان بی خبرند.»
19Have you utterly rejected Judah? has your soul loathed Zion? why have you struck us, and there is no healing for us? We looked for peace, but no good came; and for a time of healing, and behold, dismay!
19ای خداوند، آیا یهودا را بکلی ترک کرده ای؟ آیا از اهالی سهیون متنفر هستی؟ چرا ما را این چنین زده ای که درمانی ندارد؟ ما آرزوی صلح و آرامش داشتیم، اما خیری ندیدیم. منتظر بودیم که شفا بیابیم، ولی در عوض دچار وحشت شدیم.
20We acknowledge, Yahweh, our wickedness, and the iniquity of our fathers; for we have sinned against you.
20خداوندا، ما در برابر تو گناه کرده ایم. ما به گناهان خود و اجداد خود اعتراف می کنیم.
21Do not abhor us, for your name’s sake; do not disgrace the throne of your glory: remember, don’t break your covenant with us.
21وعده هایت را بیاد آور و ما را ترک نکن. جایگاه تخت جلال خود را خوار و ذلیل نساز و پیمانی را که با ما بستی، مشکن.آیا بتهای اقوام دیگر می توانند باران ببارانند؟ آیا آسمان می تواند بخودی خود باران بفرستد؟ ای خداوند خدای ما، چشم امید ما بسوی تو است، زیرا فقط تو می توانی این کارها را انجام بدهی.
22Are there any among the vanities of the nations that can cause rain? or can the sky give showers? Aren’t you he, Yahweh our God? therefore we will wait for you; for you have made all these things.
22آیا بتهای اقوام دیگر می توانند باران ببارانند؟ آیا آسمان می تواند بخودی خود باران بفرستد؟ ای خداوند خدای ما، چشم امید ما بسوی تو است، زیرا فقط تو می توانی این کارها را انجام بدهی.
