¹Then Zophar, the Naamathite, answered,

¹صوفرِ نعماتی جواب داد:

²“Shouldn’t the multitude of words be answered? Should a man full of talk be justified?

²«آیا به این همه سخنان پوچ و بیهوده نباید جواب داد؟

³Should your boastings make men hold their peace? When you mock, shall no man make you ashamed?

³آیا کسی با پُرگوئی می تواند حق بجانب شمرده شود؟ آیا با یاوه گوئی می توانی دیگران را خاموش سازی؟ آیا می خواهی وقتی که دیگران را مسخره می کنی، آن ها ساکت بمانند و اعتراضی نکنند؟

⁴For you say, ‘My doctrine is pure. I am clean in your eyes.’

⁴تو ادعا می کنی که در پیشگاه خداوند پاک و بیگناه هستی،

⁵But oh that God would speak, and open his lips against you,

⁵اما ای کاش، خدا لب به سخن بگشاید و جواب ترا بدهد

⁶that he would show you the secrets of wisdom! For true wisdom has two sides. Know therefore that God exacts of you less than your iniquity deserves.

⁶و اسرار حکمت خود را برایت بیان کند، زیرا حکمت خدا جنبه های زیادی دارد که دانستن آن ها برای انسان خیلی مشکل است. بدان که خدا ترا کمتر از آنچه که سزاوار هستی، جزا داده است.

⁷“Can you fathom the mystery of God? Or can you probe the limits of the Almighty?

⁷کسی نمی تواند حد و اندازۀ عظمت و قدرت خدای قادر مطلق را درک کند.

⁸They are high as heaven. What can you do? They are deeper than Sheol Sheol is the place of the dead. . What can you know?

⁸عظمت او بالا تر از آسمان ها و عمیقتر و وسیعتر از بحرها است و عقل تو حتی از تصور آن عاجز است.

⁹Its measure is longer than the earth, and broader than the sea.

⁹اگر خدا ترا بگیرد و محاکمه کند، چه کسی می تواند مانع او شود؟

¹⁰If he passes by, or confines, or convenes a court, then who can oppose him?

¹⁰زیرا اعمال هیچ کسی از او پوشیده نیست و می داند که گناهکار کیست.

¹¹For he knows false men. He sees iniquity also, even though he doesn’t consider it.

¹¹شخص احمق وقتی دانا می شود، که خر وحشی انسان بزاید.

¹²An empty-headed man becomes wise when a man is born as a wild donkey’s colt.

¹²حالا اگر با قلب صاف و پاک دست دعا را به سوی خدا بلند کنی،

¹³“If you set your heart aright, stretch out your hands toward him.

¹³از بدی و گناه بپرهیزی و شرارت را در خانه ات راه ندهی،

¹⁴If iniquity is in your hand, put it far away. Don’t let unrighteousness dwell in your tents.

¹⁴آنوقت می توانی با سربلندی، اطمینان کامل و بدون ترس و تشویش با دنیا روبرو شوی.

¹⁵Surely then you shall lift up your face without spot; Yes, you shall be steadfast, and shall not fear:

¹⁵مصیبت ها را فراموش می کنی و همه را مثل آب رفته به خاطر می آوری.

¹⁶for you shall forget your misery. You shall remember it as waters that are passed away.

¹⁶زندگی ات درخشانتر از آفتاب نیمروز و تاریکی آن مثل صبح روشن می شود.

¹⁷Life shall be clearer than the noonday. Though there is darkness, it shall be as the morning.

¹⁷با امید و اطمینانِ خاطر زندگی می کنی و در راحت و آسایش بسر می بری.

¹⁸You shall be secure, because there is hope. Yes, you shall search, and shall take your rest in safety.

¹⁸بدون ترس می خوابی و همگی از تو تعریف و توصیف می کنند.اما چشمان بدکاران کور و راهِ گریز از هر سو به روی شان بسته می شود و یگانه امید شان مرگ می باشد.»

¹⁹Also you shall lie down, and none shall make you afraid. Yes, many shall court your favor.

¹⁹اما چشمان بدکاران کور و راهِ گریز از هر سو به روی شان بسته می شود و یگانه امید شان مرگ می باشد.»

²⁰But the eyes of the wicked shall fail. They shall have no way to flee. Their hope shall be the giving up of the spirit.”
