¹“Surely there is a mine for silver, and a place for gold which they refine.

¹نقره از معدن استخراج می شود و طلا را در کوره تصفیه می کنند.

²Iron is taken out of the earth, and copper is smelted out of the ore.

²آهن را از زمین و مس را از سنگ به دست می آورند.

³Man sets an end to darkness, and searches out, to the furthest bound, the stones of obscurity and of thick darkness.

³مردم در اعماق تاریکی تفحص می کنند و برای سنگهای معدنی به دورترین نقطۀ زمین به جستجو می پردازند.

⁴He breaks open a shaft away from where people live. They are forgotten by the foot. They hang far from men, they swing back and forth.

⁴در دره هائی که پای بشر نرسیده است نقب می زنند و از طنابها خود را آویزان کرده به درون آن ها می روند.

⁵As for the earth, out of it comes bread; Underneath it is turned up as it were by fire.

⁵سطح زمین خوراک بار می آورد، در حالیکه در زیر هستۀ همین زمین آتش مذاب نهفته است.

⁶Sapphires come from its rocks. It has dust of gold.

⁶سنگهای زمین دارای یاقوت و طلا هستند.

⁷That path no bird of prey knows, neither has the falcon’s eye seen it.

⁷حتی پرندگان شکاری و عقابها آن معادن را نمی شناسند و ندیده اند.

⁸The proud animals have not trodden it, nor has the fierce lion passed by there.

⁸شیر و حیوان درندۀ دیگر در آن جاها قدم نزده اند.

⁹He puts forth his hand on the flinty rock, and he overturns the mountains by the roots.

⁹اما مردم سنگ خارا را می شکنند و کوهها را از بیخ می کنند،

¹⁰He cuts out channels among the rocks. His eye sees every precious thing.

¹⁰صخره ها را می شگافند و سنگهای نفیس را به دست می آورند.

¹¹He binds the streams that they don’t trickle. The thing that is hidden he brings forth to light.

¹¹سرچشمۀ دریاها را می کاوند و اشیای نهفته را بیرون می آورند.

¹²“But where shall wisdom be found? Where is the place of understanding?

¹²اما حکمت را در کجا می توان یافت و جای دانش کجا است؟

¹³Man doesn’t know its price; Neither is it found in the land of the living.

¹³انسان فانی راه آن را نمی داند و در دنیای زندگان پیدا نمی شود.

¹⁴The deep says, ‘It isn’t in me.’ The sea says, ‘It isn’t with me.’

¹⁴اعماق اوقیانوسها می گویند: «حکمت نزد ما نیست و در اینجا پیدا نمی شود.»

¹⁵It can’t be gotten for gold, neither shall silver be weighed for its price.

¹⁵حکمت را نمی توان با طلا خرید و ارزش آن بیشتر از نقره است.

¹⁶It can’t be valued with the gold of Ophir, with the precious onyx, or the sapphire or, lapis lazuli .

¹⁶گرانبهاتر از طلا و جواهرات نفیس است.

¹⁷Gold and glass can’t equal it, neither shall it be exchanged for jewels of fine gold.

¹⁷طلا و الماس را نمی توان با حکمت برابر کرد و با جواهر و طلای نفیس تبادله نمی شود.

¹⁸No mention shall be made of coral or of crystal. Yes, the price of wisdom is above rubies.

¹⁸ارزش حکمت بمراتب بالا تر از مرجان و بلور و گرانتر از لعل است.

¹⁹The topaz of Ethiopia shall not equal it, Neither shall it be valued with pure gold.

¹⁹یاقوت کبود و طلای خالص را نمی توان با حکمت مقایسه کرد.

²⁰Where then does wisdom come from? Where is the place of understanding?

²⁰پس حکمت را از کجا می توان به دست آورد و منشأ دانش کجا است؟

²¹Seeing it is hidden from the eyes of all living, and kept close from the birds of the sky.

²¹حکمت از نظر تمام زنده جانها پوشیده است و حتی پرندگان هوا آن را دیده نمی تواند.

²²Destruction and Death say, ‘We have heard a rumor of it with our ears.’

²²مرگ و نیستی ادعا می کنند که فقط آوازۀ آن را شنیده اند.

²³“God understands its way, and he knows its place.

²³تنها خدا راه حکمت را می شناسد و می داند که آن را در کجا می توان یافت.

²⁴For he looks to the ends of the earth, and sees under the whole sky.

²⁴زیرا هیچ گوشۀ زمین از او پوشیده نیست و هر چیزی که در زیر آسمان است می بیند.

²⁵He establishes the force of the wind. Yes, he measures out the waters by measure.

²⁵خدا به باد قدرت وزیدن را می دهد و حدود و اندازۀ بحرها را تعیین می کند.

²⁶When he made a decree for the rain, and a way for the lightning of the thunder;

²⁶به باران فرمان می دهد که در کجا ببارد و برق و صاعقه در کدام مسیر تولید شود.

²⁷then he saw it, and declared it. He established it, yes, and searched it out.

²⁷پس او می داند که حکمت در کجا است. او آنرا دید و آنرا بیان کرد؛ آنرا مهیا ساخت و تأیید فرمود.خدا به انسان گفت: «به یقین بدانید که ترس از خداوند حکمت واقعی است و پرهیز کردن از شرارت دانش حقیقی است.»

²⁸To man he said, ‘Behold, the fear of the Lord The word translated “Lord” is “Adonai.” , that is wisdom. To depart from evil is understanding.’”

²⁸خدا به انسان گفت: «به یقین بدانید که ترس از خداوند حکمت واقعی است و پرهیز کردن از شرارت دانش حقیقی است.»
