1Moreover Elihu answered,
1الیهو به سخنان خود ادامه داده گفت:
2“Hear my words, you wise men. Give ear to me, you who have knowledge.
2«ای مردان دانا، به سخنان من گوش بدهید و ای عاقلان بشنوید!
3For the ear tries words, as the palate tastes food.
3همانطوریکه مزۀ غذا با زبان احساس می شود، گوش هم سخنان را تشخیص می دهد.
4Let us choose for us that which is right. Let us know among ourselves what is good.
4پس ما باید آنچه را که درست است انتخاب کنیم و چیزهای خوب را اختیار نمائیم.
5For Job has said, ‘I am righteous, God has taken away my right:
5ایوب گفت: «من بیگناه هستم و خدا مرا از حق من محروم کرده است.
6Notwithstanding my right I am considered a liar. My wound is incurable, though I am without disobedience.’
6باوجودیکه تقصیری ندارم، اما خدا مرا دروغگو می شمارد. گرچه خطائی از من سر نزده است، ولی زخمهای علاج ناپذیر در بدن خود دارم.»
7What man is like Job, who drinks scorn like water,
7آیا کسی را دیده اید که مثل ایوب سخنان تمسخرآمیز بزند؟
8Who goes in company with the workers of iniquity, and walks with wicked men?
8او همنشین مردم شریر است و با اشخاص بد سر و کار دارد.
9For he has said, ‘It profits a man nothing that he should delight himself with God.’
9او می گوید: «چه فایده که انسان رضامندی خدا را حاصل کند؟»
10“Therefore listen to me, you men of understanding: far be it from God, that he should do wickedness, from the Almighty, that he should commit iniquity.
10ای کسانی که دارای عقل و شعور هستید سخنان مرا بشنوید. خدای قادر مطلق هرگز ظلم و بدی نمی کند.
11For the work of a man he will render to him, and cause every man to find according to his ways.
11او هر کسی را مطابق اعمالش مکافات می دهد و هر انسان را طوریکه سزاوار است، مجازات می کند.
12Yes surely, God will not do wickedly, neither will the Almighty pervert justice.
12خدای قادر مطلق بدی را نمی پسندد و بی عدالتی نمی کند.
13Who put him in charge of the earth? or who has appointed him over the whole world?
13اختیار تمام دنیا در دست او است و با قدرت خود جهان را اداره می کند.
14If he set his heart on himself, If he gathered to himself his spirit and his breath,
14اگر خدا اراده کند و روح و نَفَس خود را از انسان پس بگیرد،
15all flesh would perish together, and man would turn again to dust.
15همۀ انسانها هلاک می شوند و به خاک بر می گردند.
16“If now you have understanding, hear this. Listen to the voice of my words.
16اگر شعور دارید گوش کنید که من چه می گویم.
17Shall even one who hates justice govern? Will you condemn him who is righteous and mighty?—
17آیا کسی که از عدالت نفرت دارد، حکمرانی کرده می تواند؟ آیا می خواهی خدای عادل را محکوم کنی؟
18Who says to a king, ‘Vile!’ or to nobles, ‘Wicked!’?
18خدا پادشاهان و حاکمان را که اگر بدکار و شریر باشند، محکوم می سازد.
19Who doesn’t respect the persons of princes, nor respects the rich more than the poor; for they all are the work of his hands.
19او از فرمانروایان طرفداری نمی کند و ثروتمندان را بر فقرا ترجیح نمی دهد، زیرا همگی را دست قدرت او خلق کرده است.
20In a moment they die, even at midnight. The people are shaken and pass away. The mighty are taken away without a hand.
20انسان ناگهان نیمۀ شب می میرد و خدا در یک لحظه جان انسان را می گیرد و با یک اشاره قدرتمندترین انسانها را به دیار نیستی می فرستد.
21“For his eyes are on the ways of a man. He sees all his goings.
21چشمان تیزبین او همه کارهای بشر را می بیند و هر قدم او را زیر نظر دارد.
22There is no darkness, nor thick gloom, where the workers of iniquity may hide themselves.
22هیچ ظلمت و تاریکی نمی تواند اشخاص بدکار را از نظر خدا پنهان کند.
23For he doesn’t need to consider a man further, that he should go before God in judgment.
23خدا لزومی ندارد که برای داوری انسان وقتی را تعیین کند.
24He breaks in pieces mighty men in ways past finding out, and sets others in their place.
24او زورمندان را بدون تحقیق از بین می برد و دیگران را جانشین آن ها می سازد.
25Therefore he takes knowledge of their works. He overturns them in the night, so that they are destroyed.
25زیرا او از تمام اعمال شان آگاه است و شبانگاه آن ها را سرنگون می کند.
26He strikes them as wicked men in the open sight of others;
26آن ها را در حضور همۀ مردم بخاطر کارهای بد شان مجازات می کند.
27because they turned aside from following him, and wouldn’t pay attention to any of his ways,
27زیرا که آن ها از راه خدا منحرف شده اند و از احکام او پیروی نمی کنند.
28so that they caused the cry of the poor to come to him. He heard the cry of the afflicted.
28آن ها چنان ظلمی در حق مردم مسکین و فقیر نمودند که خدا فریاد شان را شنید.
29When he gives quietness, who then can condemn? When he hides his face, who then can see him? Alike whether to a nation, or to a man,
29اگر خدا نخواهد به کمک آن ها برسد، چه کسی می تواند از او ایراد بگیرد؟ اما او این کار را نمی کند، زیرا در آن صورت انسانها همگی ـ خواه یک فرد باشد یا یک ملت ـ عاجز می مانند.
30that the godless man may not reign, that there be no one to ensnare the people.
30خدا اجازه نمی دهد که بدکاران بر مردم حکمرانی کنند و بر آن ها ظلم نمایند.
31“For has any said to God, ‘I am guilty, but I will not offend any more.
31ایوب، تو باید به گناهان خود در حضور خدا اعتراف نمائی و وعده بدهی که دیگر گناه نکنی.
32Teach me that which I don’t see. If I have done iniquity, I will do it no more’?
32از خدا بخواه که گناهانت را به تو نشان بدهد و باید از کارهای بدی که کرده ای، دست بکشی.
33Shall his recompense be as you desire, that you refuse it? For you must choose, and not I. Therefore speak what you know.
33تو با کارهای خدا مخالفت می کنی و بازهم انتظار داری که او آنچه را که می خواهی برایت انجام بدهد. حالا خودت تصمیم بگیر نه من، و بگو که چه فکر می کنی.
34Men of understanding will tell me, yes, every wise man who hears me:
34کسیکه عاقل است و شعور دارد و حرف مرا می شنود، تصدیق می کند
35‘Job speaks without knowledge. His words are without wisdom.’
35که سخنان تو همه احمقانه اند و معنی ندارند.
36I wish that Job were tried to the end, because of his answering like wicked men.
36تو مثل اشخاص شریر حرف می زنی و باید جزا ببینی.تو با نافرمانی خود بر گناهانت می افزائی و در حضور همگی به خدا اهانت می کنی.»
37For he adds rebellion to his sin. He claps his hands among us, and multiplies his words against God.”
