¹So Pilate then took Jesus, and flogged him.

¹در این وقت پیلاطُس امر کرد عیسی را تازیانه بزنند

²The soldiers twisted thorns into a crown, and put it on his head, and dressed him in a purple garment.

²و عساکر تاجی از خار بافته بر سر او گذاشتند و چپن ارغوانی رنگ به او پوشانیدند.

³They kept saying, “Hail, King of the Jews!” and they kept slapping him.

³و پیش او می آمدند و می گفتند: «درود بر پادشاه یهود» و به او سیلی می زدند.

⁴Then Pilate went out again, and said to them, “Behold, I bring him out to you, that you may know that I find no basis for a charge against him.”

⁴بار دیگر پیلاطُس بیرون آمد و به آن ها گفت: «ببینید، او را پیش شما می آورم تا بدانید که در او هیچ جرمی نمی بینم.»

⁵Jesus therefore came out, wearing the crown of thorns and the purple garment. Pilate said to them, “Behold, the man!”

⁵و عیسی در حالی که تاج خاری بر سر و چپن ارغوانی بر تن داشت بیرون آمد. پیلاطُس گفت: «ببینید، آن مرد اینجاست.»

⁶When therefore the chief priests and the officers saw him, they shouted, saying, “Crucify! Crucify!” Pilate said to them, “Take him yourselves, and crucify him, for I find no basis for a charge against him.”

⁶وقتی سران کاهنان و مأموران آن ها او را دیدند فریاد کردند: «مصلوبش کن! مصلوبش کن!» پیلاطُس گفت: «شما او را ببرید و مصلوب کنید، چون من هیچ تقصیری در او نمی بینم.»

⁷The Jews answered him, “We have a law, and by our law he ought to die, because he made himself the Son of God.”

⁷یهودیان جواب دادند: «ما شریعتی داریم که به موجب آن او باید بمیرد، زیرا ادعا می کند که پسر خداست.»

⁸When therefore Pilate heard this saying, he was more afraid.

⁸وقتی پیلاطُس این را شنید بیش از پیش ترسید

⁹He entered into the Praetorium again, and said to Jesus, “Where are you from?” But Jesus gave him no answer.

⁹و باز به قصر خود رفت و از عیسی پرسید: «تو اهل کجا هستی؟» عیسی به او جوابی نداد.

¹⁰Pilate therefore said to him, “Aren’t you speaking to me? Don’t you know that I have power to release you, and have power to crucify you?”

¹⁰پیلاطُس گفت: «آیا به من جواب نمی دهی؟ مگر نمی دانی که من قدرت دارم تو را آزاد سازم و قدرت دارم تو را مصلوب نمایم؟»

¹¹Jesus answered, “You would have no power at all against me, unless it were given to you from above. Therefore he who delivered me to you has greater sin.”

¹¹عیسی در جواب گفت: «تو هیچ قدرتی بر من نمی داشتی اگر خدا آن را به تو نمی داد. از این رو کسی که مرا به تو تسلیم نمود تقصیر بیشتری دارد.»

¹²At this, Pilate was seeking to release him, but the Jews cried out, saying, “If you release this man, you aren’t Caesar’s friend! Everyone who makes himself a king speaks against Caesar!”

¹²از آن وقت به بعد پیلاطُس کوشش کرد او را آزاد سازد ولی یهودیان دائماً فریاد می کردند: «اگر این مرد را آزاد کنی دوست امپراطور نیستی. هرکه ادعای پادشاهی کند دشمن امپراطور است.»

¹³When Pilate therefore heard these words, he brought Jesus out, and sat down on the judgment seat at a place called “The Pavement,” but in Hebrew, “Gabbatha.”

¹³وقتی پیلاطُس این را شنید عیسی را بیرون آورد و خود در محلی موسوم به صُفۀ حکم که به زبان عبرانی آن را جباتا می گفتند بر چوکی قضاوت نشست.

¹⁴Now it was the Preparation Day of the Passover, at about the sixth hour. “the sixth hour” would have been 6:00 AM according to the Roman timekeeping system, or noon for the Jewish timekeeping system in use, then. He said to the Jews, “Behold, your King!”

¹⁴وقت تهیه فِصَح و نزدیک ظهر بود که پیلاطُس به یهودیان گفت: «ببینید پادشاه شما این جاست.»

¹⁵They cried out, “Away with him! Away with him! Crucify him!” Pilate said to them, “Shall I crucify your King?” The chief priests answered, “We have no king but Caesar!”

¹⁵ولی آن ها فریاد کردند: «اعدامش کن! اعدامش کن! مصلوبش کن!» پیلاطُس گفت: «آیا می خواهید پادشاه شما را مصلوب کنم؟» سران کاهنان جواب دادند: «ما پادشاهی جز امپراطور نداریم.»

¹⁶So then he delivered him to them to be crucified. So they took Jesus and led him away.

¹⁶آخر پیلاطُس عیسی را به دست آن ها داد تا مصلوب شود. پس آن ها عیسی را تحویل گرفتند.

¹⁷He went out, bearing his cross, to the place called “The Place of a Skull,” which is called in Hebrew, “Golgotha,”

¹⁷عیسی در حالی که صلیب خود را می برد به جائی که به «محلۀ کاسه سر» و به عبرانی به جُلجُتا موسوم است، رفت.

¹⁸where they crucified him, and with him two others, on either side one, and Jesus in the middle.

¹⁸در آنجا او را به صلیب میخکوب کردند و با او دو نفر دیگر را یکی در دست راست و دیگری در سمت چپ او مصلوب کردند و عیسی در بین آن دو نفر بود.

¹⁹Pilate wrote a title also, and put it on the cross. There was written, “JESUS OF NAZARETH, THE KING OF THE JEWS.”

¹⁹پیلاطُس تقصیرنامه ای نوشت تا بر صلیب نصب گردد و آن نوشته چنین بود: «عیسی ناصری پادشاه یهود.»

²⁰Therefore many of the Jews read this title, for the place where Jesus was crucified was near the city; and it was written in Hebrew, in Latin, and in Greek.

²⁰بسیاری از یهودیان این تقصیرنامه را خواندند، زیرا جائی که عیسی مصلوب شد از شهر دور نبود و آن تقصیرنامه به زبان های عبرانی و لاتین و یونانی نوشته شده بود.

²¹The chief priests of the Jews therefore said to Pilate, “Don’t write, ‘The King of the Jews,’ but, ‘he said, I am King of the Jews.’”

²¹بنابراین، سران کاهنان یهود به پیلاطُس گفتند: «ننویس پادشاه یهود، بنویس او ادعا می کرد که پادشاه یهود است.»

²²Pilate answered, “What I have written, I have written.”

²²پیلاطُس جواب داد: «هرچه نوشتم، نوشتم.»

²³Then the soldiers, when they had crucified Jesus, took his garments and made four parts, to every soldier a part; and also the coat. Now the coat was without seam, woven from the top throughout.

²³پس از اینکه عساکر عیسی را به صلیب میخکوب کردند، لباس های او را برداشتند و چهار قسمت کردند و هر یک از عساکر یک قسمت از آن را برداشت ولی پیراهن او که درز نداشت و از بالا تا پایین یک پارچه بافته شده بود، باقی ماند.

²⁴Then they said to one another, “Let’s not tear it, but cast lots for it to decide whose it will be,” that the Scripture might be fulfilled, which says, “They parted my garments among them. For my cloak they cast lots.” Psalm 22:18 Therefore the soldiers did these things.

²⁴پس آن ها به یکدیگر گفتند: «آن را پاره نکنیم، بیایید روی آن قرعه بکشیم و ببینیم به چه کسی می رسد.» به این ترتیب کلام خدا به حقیقت پیوست که می فرماید: «لباس های مرا در میان خود تقسیم کردند و بر پوشاکم قرعه انداختند» و عساکر همین کار را کردند.

²⁵But there were standing by the cross of Jesus his mother, and his mother’s sister, Mary the wife of Clopas, and Mary Magdalene.

²⁵نزدیک صلیبی که عیسی به آن میخکوب شده بود، مادر عیسی به همراهی خواهرش، و نیز مریم زن کلوپاس و مریم مَجدَلیّه ایستاده بودند.

²⁶Therefore when Jesus saw his mother, and the disciple whom he loved standing there, he said to his mother, “Woman, behold your son!”

²⁶وقتی عیسی مادر خود را دید که پهلوی همان شاگردی که او را دوست می داشت ایستاده است، به مادر خود گفت: «مادر، این پسر توست.»

²⁷Then he said to the disciple, “Behold, your mother!” From that hour, the disciple took her to his own home.

²⁷و بعد به شاگرد خود گفت: «و این مادر توست.» و از همان لحظه آن شاگرد او را به خانۀ خود برد.

²⁸After this, Jesus, seeing NU, TR read “knowing” instead of “seeing” that all things were now finished, that the Scripture might be fulfilled, said, “I am thirsty.”

²⁸بعد از آن، وقتی عیسی دید که همه چیز انجام شده است گفت: «تشنه ام» و به این طریق پیشگویی کلام خدا تمام شد.

²⁹Now a vessel full of vinegar was set there; so they put a sponge full of the vinegar on hyssop, and held it at his mouth.

²⁹خمره ای پُر از سرکه در آنجا قرار داشت. آن ها اسفنجِ را به سرکه تر کردند و آن را بر سر نی ای گذارده پیش دهان او گرفتند.

³⁰When Jesus therefore had received the vinegar, he said, “It is finished.” He bowed his head, and gave up his spirit.

³⁰وقتی عیسی به سرکه لب زد گفت: «تمام شد.» بعد سر بزیر افگنده جان سپرد.

³¹Therefore the Jews, because it was the Preparation Day, so that the bodies wouldn’t remain on the cross on the Sabbath (for that Sabbath was a special one), asked of Pilate that their legs might be broken, and that they might be taken away.

³¹چون روز جمعه با روز تهیه فِصَح مصادف بود و یهودیان نمی خواستند اجساد مصلوب شدگان در آن روز بزرگ بر روی صلیب بماند، از پیلاطُس درخواست کردند که ساق پای آن سه را بشکنند و آن ها را از صلیب پایین بیاورند.

³²Therefore the soldiers came, and broke the legs of the first, and of the other who was crucified with him;

³²پس عساکر پیش آمدند و ساق پای آن دو نفری را که با عیسی مصلوب شده بودند شکستند،

³³but when they came to Jesus, and saw that he was already dead, they didn’t break his legs.

³³اما وقتی پیش عیسی آمدند دیدند که او مرده است و از این رو ساق های او را نشکستند.

³⁴However one of the soldiers pierced his side with a spear, and immediately blood and water came out.

³⁴اما یکی از عساکر نیزه ای به پهلوی او زد و خون و آب از بدنش جاری شد.

³⁵He who has seen has testified, and his testimony is true. He knows that he tells the truth, that you may believe.

³⁵کسی که خود شاهد این واقعه بود این را می گوید و شهادت او راست است، او حقیقت را می گوید تا شما نیز ایمان آورید.

³⁶For these things happened, that the Scripture might be fulfilled, “A bone of him will not be broken.” Exodus 12:46; Numbers 9:12; Psalm 34:20

³⁶چنین شد تا آنچه نوشته شده است: «هیچ یک از استخوانهایش شکسته نخواهد شد.» تحقق یابد.

³⁷Again another Scripture says, “They will look on him whom they pierced.” Zechariah 12:10

³⁷و در جای دیگر نوشته شده: «آن ها به کسی که نیزه زده اند نگاه خواهند کرد.»

³⁸After these things, Joseph of Arimathaea, being a disciple of Jesus, but secretly for fear of the Jews, asked of Pilate that he might take away Jesus’ body. Pilate gave him permission. He came therefore and took away his body.

³⁸بعد از آن یوسف رامه ای که به علت ترس از یهودیان مخفیانه شاگرد عیسی بود، پیش پیلاطُس رفت و اجازه خواست که جنازۀ عیسی را بردارد. پیلاطُس به او اجازه داد. پس آمد و جسد عیسی را برداشت.

³⁹Nicodemus, who at first came to Jesus by night, also came bringing a mixture of myrrh and aloes, about a hundred Roman pounds. 100 Roman pounds of 12 ounces each, or about 72 pounds, or 33 Kilograms.

³⁹نیقودیموس، یعنی همان کسی که ابتدا شبانه به دیدن عیسی رفته بود، نیز آمد و با خود مخلوطی از مُر و عود به وزن یکصد لیترا (حدود سی و چهار کیلوگرام)، آورد.

⁴⁰So they took Jesus’ body, and bound it in linen cloths with the spices, as the custom of the Jews is to bury.

⁴⁰آن ها جسد عیسی را بردند و مطابق مراسم دفن یهود، در پارچه ای کتانی با داروهای معطر پیچیدند.

⁴¹Now in the place where he was crucified there was a garden. In the garden was a new tomb in which no man had ever yet been laid.

⁴¹در نزدیکی محلی که او مصلوب شد باغی بود و در آن باغ قبر نوی قرار داشت که هنوز کسی در آن دفن نشده بود.چون شب عید فِصَح بود و قبر هم در همان نزدیکی قرار داشت عیسی را در آنجا دفن کردند.

⁴²Then because of the Jews’ Preparation Day (for the tomb was near at hand) they laid Jesus there.
