¹Therefore when the Lord knew that the Pharisees had heard that Jesus was making and baptizing more disciples than John

¹وقتی خداوند فهمید که فریسی ها شنیده اند که او بیشتر از یحیی شاگرد پیدا کرده و آن ها را تعمید می دهد

²(although Jesus himself didn’t baptize, but his disciples),

²(هرچند شاگردان عیسی تعمید می دادند نه خود او)،

³he left Judea, and departed into Galilee.

³یهودیه را ترک کرد و به جلیل برگشت

⁴He needed to pass through Samaria.

⁴ولی لازم بود از سامره عبور کند.

⁵So he came to a city of Samaria, called Sychar, near the parcel of ground that Jacob gave to his son, Joseph.

⁵او به شهری از سامره که سوخار نام داشت، نزدیک مزرعه ای که یعقوب به پسر خود یوسف بخشیده بود، رسید.

⁶Jacob’s well was there. Jesus therefore, being tired from his journey, sat down by the well. It was about the sixth hour noon .

⁶چاه یعقوب در آنجا بود و عیسی که از سفر خسته شده بود، در کنار چاه نشست. تقریباً ظهر بود.

⁷A woman of Samaria came to draw water. Jesus said to her, “Give me a drink.”

⁷یک زن سامری برای کشیدن آب آمد. عیسی به او گفت: «قدری آب به من بده.»

⁸For his disciples had gone away into the city to buy food.

⁸زیرا شاگردانش برای خرید غذا به شهر رفته بودند.

⁹The Samaritan woman therefore said to him, “How is it that you, being a Jew, ask for a drink from me, a Samaritan woman?” (For Jews have no dealings with Samaritans.)

⁹زن سامری گفت: «چطور تو که یک یهودی هستی از من که یک زن سامری هستم آب می خواهی؟» او این را گفت چون یهودیان با سامریان نشست و برخاست نمی کنند.

¹⁰Jesus answered her, “If you knew the gift of God, and who it is who says to you, ‘Give me a drink,’ you would have asked him, and he would have given you living water.”

¹⁰عیسی به او جواب داد: «اگر می دانستی بخشش خدا چیست و کیست که از تو آب می خواهد، حتماً از او خواهش می کردی و او به تو آب زنده عطا می کرد.»

¹¹The woman said to him, “Sir, you have nothing to draw with, and the well is deep. From where then have you that living water?

¹¹زن گفت: «ای آقا سطل نداری و این چاه عمیق است. از کجا آب زنده داری؟

¹²Are you greater than our father, Jacob, who gave us the well, and drank of it himself, as did his children, and his livestock?”

¹²آیا تو از جد ما یعقوب بزرگتر هستی که این چاه را به ما بخشید و خود او و پسران و گله اش از آن نوشیدند؟»

¹³Jesus answered her, “Everyone who drinks of this water will thirst again,

¹³عیسی گفت: «هر که از این آب بنوشد باز تشنه خواهد شد

¹⁴ but whoever drinks of the water that I will give him will never thirst again; but the water that I will give him will become in him a well of water springing up to eternal life.”

¹⁴اما هر کس از آبی که من می بخشم بنوشد هرگز تشنه نخواهد شد، زیرا آن آبی که به او می دهم در باطن او به چشمه ای تبدیل خواهد شد که تا زندگی ابدی خواهد جوشید.»

¹⁵The woman said to him, “Sir, give me this water, so that I don’t get thirsty, neither come all the way here to draw.”

¹⁵زن گفت: «ای آقا، آن آب را به من بده تا دیگر تشنه نشوم و برای کشیدن آب به اینجا نیایم.»

¹⁶Jesus said to her, “Go, call your husband, and come here.”

¹⁶عیسی به او فرمود: «برو شوهرت را صدا کن و به اینجا برگرد.»

¹⁷The woman answered, “I have no husband.” Jesus said to her, “You said well, ‘I have no husband,’

¹⁷زن جواب داد: «شوهر ندارم.» عیسی گفت: «راست می گویی که شوهر نداری،

¹⁸ for you have had five husbands; and he whom you now have is not your husband. This you have said truly.”

¹⁸زیرا تو پنج شوهر داشته ای و آن مردی هم که اکنون با تو زندگی می کند شوهر تو نیست. آنچه گفتی درست است.»

¹⁹The woman said to him, “Sir, I perceive that you are a prophet.

¹⁹زن گفت: «ای آقا، می بینم که تو نبی هستی.

²⁰Our fathers worshiped in this mountain, and you Jews say that in Jerusalem is the place where people ought to worship.”

²⁰پدران ما در روی این کوه عبادت می کردند، اما شما یهودیان می گوئید، باید خدا را در اورشلیم عبادت کرد.»

²¹Jesus said to her, “Woman, believe me, the hour comes, when neither in this mountain, nor in Jerusalem, will you worship the Father.

²¹عیسی گفت: «ای زن، باور کن زمانی خواهد آمد که پدر را نه بر روی این کوه پرستش خواهید کرد و نه در اورشلیم.

²² You worship that which you don’t know. We worship that which we know; for salvation is from the Jews.

²²شما سامریان آنچه را نمی شناسید، می پرستید اما ما آنچه را که می شناسیم عبادت می کنیم، زیرا رستگاری بوسیلۀ قوم یهود می آید.

²³ But the hour comes, and now is, when the true worshippers will worship the Father in spirit and truth, for the Father seeks such to be his worshippers.

²³اما زمانی می آید ـ و این زمان هم اکنون شروع شده است ـ که پرستندگان حقیقی، پدر را با روح و راستی عبادت خواهند کرد، زیرا پدر طالب این گونه پرستندگان می باشد.

²⁴ God is spirit, and those who worship him must worship in spirit and truth.”

²⁴خدا روح است و هر که او را می پرستد باید با روح و راستی عبادت نماید.»

²⁵The woman said to him, “I know that Messiah comes,” (he who is called Christ). “When he has come, he will declare to us all things.”

²⁵زن گفت: «من می دانم که مسیح خواهد آمد و هر وقت بیاید، همه چیز را به ما خواهد گفت.»

²⁶Jesus said to her, “I am he, the one who speaks to you.”

²⁶عیسی گفت: «من که با تو صحبت می کنم همان هستم.»

²⁷At this, his disciples came. They marveled that he was speaking with a woman; yet no one said, “What are you looking for?” or, “Why do you speak with her?”

²⁷در همان موقع شاگردان عیسی برگشتند و چون او را دیدند که با یک زن سخن می گوید تعجب کردند ولی هیچ کس نپرسید: «چی می خواهی؟» و یا «چرا با او سخن می گوئی؟»

²⁸So the woman left her water pot, and went away into the city, and said to the people,

²⁸زن کوزۀ خود را به زمین گذاشت و به شهر رفت و به مردم گفت:

²⁹“Come, see a man who told me everything that I did. Can this be the Christ?”

²⁹«بیائید و مردی را ببینید، که آنچه تا به حال کرده بودم به من گفت. آیا این مسیح نیست؟»

³⁰They went out of the city, and were coming to him.

³⁰پس مردم از شهر خارج شده پیش عیسی می رفتند.

³¹In the meanwhile, the disciples urged him, saying, “Rabbi, eat.”

³¹در این وقت شاگردان از عیسی خواهش کرده گفتند: «ای استاد، چیزی بخور.»

³²But he said to them, “I have food to eat that you don’t know about.”

³²اما او گفت: «من غذائی برای خوردن دارم که شما از آن بی خبر هستید.»

³³The disciples therefore said one to another, “Has anyone brought him something to eat?”

³³پس شاگردان از یکدیگر پرسیدند: «آیا کسی برای او غذا آورده است؟»

³⁴Jesus said to them, “My food is to do the will of him who sent me, and to accomplish his work.

³⁴عیسی به ایشان گفت: «غذای من اینست که ارادۀ کسی را که مرا فرستاده است بجا آورم و کارهای او را انجام دهم.

³⁵ Don’t you say, ‘There are yet four months until the harvest?’ Behold, I tell you, lift up your eyes, and look at the fields, that they are white for harvest already.

³⁵مگر شما نمی گوئید هنوز چهار ماه به موسم درو مانده است؟ توجه کنید، به شما می گویم به کشتزارها نگاه کنید و ببینید که حالا برای درو آماده هستند.

³⁶ He who reaps receives wages, and gathers fruit to eternal life; that both he who sows and he who reaps may rejoice together.

³⁶دروگر مزد خود را می گیرد و ثمر را برای زندگی ابدی جمع می کند تا اینکه کارنده و درو کننده با هم خوشی کنند.

³⁷ For in this the saying is true, ‘One sows, and another reaps.’

³⁷در اینجا این گفته حقیقت پیدا می کند، که یکی می کارد و دیگری درو می کند.

³⁸ I sent you to reap that for which you haven’t labored. Others have labored, and you have entered into their labor.”

³⁸من شما را فرستادم تا محصولی را درو کنید که برای آن زحمت نکشیده اید. دیگران برای آن زحمت کشیدند و شما از نتایج کار ایشان استفاده می برید.»

³⁹From that city many of the Samaritans believed in him because of the word of the woman, who testified, “He told me everything that I did.”

³⁹به خاطر شهادت آن زن که گفته بود: «آنچه تا به حال کرده بودم به من گفت»، در آن شهر عدۀ زیادی از سامریان به عیسی ایمان آوردند.

⁴⁰So when the Samaritans came to him, they begged him to stay with them. He stayed there two days.

⁴⁰وقتی سامریان نزد عیسی آمدند از او خواهش کردند که پیش آن ها بماند. پس عیسی دو روز در آنجا ماند

⁴¹Many more believed because of his word.

⁴¹و عدۀ زیادی نیز به خاطر سخنان او ایمان آوردند.

⁴²They said to the woman, “Now we believe, not because of your speaking; for we have heard for ourselves, and know that this is indeed the Christ, the Savior of the world.”

⁴²و به آن زن گفتند: «حالا دیگر به خاطر سخن تو نیست که ما ایمان داریم، زیرا ما خود سخنان او را شنیده ایم و می دانیم که او در حقیقت نجات دهندۀ عالم است.»

⁴³After the two days he went out from there and went into Galilee.

⁴³پس از دو روز، عیسی آنجا را ترک کرد و به طرف جلیل رفت.

⁴⁴For Jesus himself testified that a prophet has no honor in his own country.

⁴⁴زیرا خود عیسی فرموده بود که پیامبر در دیار خود احترامی ندارد،

⁴⁵So when he came into Galilee, the Galileans received him, having seen all the things that he did in Jerusalem at the feast, for they also went to the feast.

⁴⁵اما وقتی به جلیل وارد شد، مردم از او استقبال کردند زیرا آنچه را که در اورشلیم انجام داده بود دیده بودند، چون آن ها هم در ایام عید در اورشلیم بودند.

⁴⁶Jesus came therefore again to Cana of Galilee, where he made the water into wine. There was a certain nobleman whose son was sick at Capernaum.

⁴⁶عیسی بار دیگر به قانای جلیل، جائی که آب را به شراب تبدیل کرده بود، رفت. یکی از مأمورین دولت در آنجا بود که پسرش در کپرناحوم بیمار و بستری بود.

⁴⁷When he heard that Jesus had come out of Judea into Galilee, he went to him, and begged him that he would come down and heal his son, for he was at the point of death.

⁴⁷وقتی شنید که عیسی از یهودیه به جلیل آمده است نزد او آمد و خواهش کرد که بیاید و پسرش را که در آستانۀ مرگ بود شفا بخشد.

⁴⁸Jesus therefore said to him, “Unless you see signs and wonders, you will in no way believe.”

⁴⁸عیسی به او گفت: «شما بدون دیدن عجایب و نشانه ها به هیچ وجه ایمان نخواهید آورد.»

⁴⁹The nobleman said to him, “Sir, come down before my child dies.”

⁴⁹آن شخص گفت: «ای آقا، پیش از آن که پسر من بمیرد بیا.»

⁵⁰Jesus said to him, “Go your way. Your son lives.” The man believed the word that Jesus spoke to him, and he went his way.

⁵⁰آنگاه عیسی گفت: «برو، پسرت زنده می ماند.» آن مرد با ایمان به سخن عیسی به طرف منزل رفت.

⁵¹As he was now going down, his servants met him and reported, saying “Your child lives!”

⁵¹او هنوز به خانه نرسیده بود که نوکرانش در بین راه او را دیدند و به او مژده دادند: «پسرت زنده و تندرست است.»

⁵²So he inquired of them the hour when he began to get better. They said therefore to him, “Yesterday at the seventh hour, 1:00 P. M. the fever left him.”

⁵²او پرسید: «در چه ساعتی حالش خوب شد؟» گفتند: «دیروز در ساعت یک بعد از ظهر تب او قطع شد.»

⁵³So the father knew that it was at that hour in which Jesus said to him, “Your son lives.” He believed, as did his whole house.

⁵³پدر فهمید که این درست همان ساعتی است که عیسی به او گفته بود: «پسرت زنده می ماند.» پس او و تمام اهل خانه اش ایمان آوردند.این دومین معجزه ای بود که عیسی پس از آنکه از یهودیه به جلیل آمد انجام داد.

⁵⁴This is again the second sign that Jesus did, having come out of Judea into Galilee.
