¹After these things, Jesus went away to the other side of the sea of Galilee, which is also called the Sea of Tiberias.

¹بعد از این عیسی به طرف دیگر بحیرۀ جلیل که همان بحیرۀ تِبریه است رفت

²A great multitude followed him, because they saw his signs which he did on those who were sick.

²و عدۀ زیادی، که معجزات او را در شفا دادن بیماران دیده بودند، به دنبال او رفتند.

³Jesus went up into the mountain, and he sat there with his disciples.

³آنگاه عیسی به بالای کوهی رفت و با شاگردان خود در آنجا نشست.

⁴Now the Passover, the feast of the Jews, was at hand.

⁴ایام عید فِصَح یهودیان نزدیک بود.

⁵Jesus therefore lifting up his eyes, and seeing that a great multitude was coming to him, said to Philip, “Where are we to buy bread, that these may eat?”

⁵وقتی عیسی به چهار طرف دیده عدۀ زیادی را دید که به طرف او می آیند، از فیلیپُس پرسید: «از کجا نان بخریم تا اینها بخورند؟»

⁶This he said to test him, for he himself knew what he would do.

⁶عیسی این را از روی امتحان به او گفت زیرا خود او می دانست چه خواهد کرد.

⁷Philip answered him, “Two hundred denarii worth of bread is not sufficient for them, that everyone of them may receive a little.”

⁷فیلیپُس جواب داد: «دو صد سکۀ نقره نان هم کافی نیست که هر یک از آن ها کمی بخورد.»

⁸One of his disciples, Andrew, Simon Peter’s brother, said to him,

⁸یکی از شاگردانش به نام اندریاس که برادر شمعون پِترُس بود، به او گفت:

⁹“There is a boy here who has five barley loaves and two fish, but what are these among so many?”

⁹«پسری در اینجا هست که پنج نان جو و دو ماهی دارد، ولی آن برای این عده چه می شود؟»

¹⁰Jesus said, “Have the people sit down.” Now there was much grass in that place. So the men sat down, in number about five thousand.

¹⁰عیسی گفت: «مردم را بنشانید.» در آنجا سبزه بسیار بود، پس مردم که تقریباً پنج هزار مرد بودند نشستند.

¹¹Jesus took the loaves; and having given thanks, he distributed to the disciples, and the disciples to those who were sitting down; likewise also of the fish as much as they desired.

¹¹آنگاه عیسی نان ها را برداشته خدا را شکر کرد و در میان مردم، که بر روی زمین نشسته بودند تقسیم نمود. ماهی ها را نیز همینطور هرقدر خواستند تقسیم کرد.

¹²When they were filled, he said to his disciples, “Gather up the broken pieces which are left over, that nothing be lost.”

¹²وقتی همه سیر شدند، به شاگردان گفت: «توته های نان را جمع کنید تا چیزی تلف نشود.»

¹³So they gathered them up, and filled twelve baskets with broken pieces from the five barley loaves, which were left over by those who had eaten.

¹³پس شاگردان آن ها را جمع کردند و دوازده سبد از توته های باقیماندۀ آن پنج نان جو پُر نمودند.

¹⁴When therefore the people saw the sign which Jesus did, they said, “This is truly the prophet who comes into the world.”

¹⁴وقتی مردم این معجزۀ عیسی را دیدند گفتند: «در حقیقت این همان پیامبر وعده شده است که می بایست به جهان بیاید.»

¹⁵Jesus therefore, perceiving that they were about to come and take him by force, to make him king, withdrew again to the mountain by himself.

¹⁵پس چون عیسی متوجه شد که آن ها می خواهند او را به زور برده پادشاه سازند، از آن ها جدا شد و تنها به کوهستان رفت.

¹⁶When evening came, his disciples went down to the sea,

¹⁶در وقت غروب شاگردان به طرف بحیره رفتند

¹⁷and they entered into the boat, and were going over the sea to Capernaum. It was now dark, and Jesus had not come to them.

¹⁷و سوار کشتی شده به آن طرف بحیره به سوی کپرناحوم حرکت کردند. هوا تاریک شده بود و عیسی هنوز پیش ایشان برنگشته بود.

¹⁸The sea was tossed by a great wind blowing.

¹⁸باد شدیدی شروع به وزیدن کرد و بحیره طوفانی شد.

¹⁹When therefore they had rowed about twenty-five or thirty stadia, 25 to 30 stadia is about 5 to 6 kilometers or about 3 to 4 miles they saw Jesus walking on the sea, see Job 9:8 and drawing near to the boat; and they were afraid.

¹⁹وقتی تقریباً یک فرسنگ پیش رفتند، عیسی را دیدند که بر روی آب قدم می زند و به طرف کشتی می آید. آن ها ترسیدند.

²⁰But he said to them, “It is I or, I AM . Don’t be afraid.”

²⁰اما عیسی به آن ها گفت: «من هستم، نترسید.»

²¹They were willing therefore to receive him into the boat. Immediately the boat was at the land where they were going.

²¹می خواستند او را به داخل کشتی بیاورند، ولی کشتی بزودی به مقصد رسید.

²²On the next day, the multitude that stood on the other side of the sea saw that there was no other boat there, except the one in which his disciples had embarked, and that Jesus hadn’t entered with his disciples into the boat, but his disciples had gone away alone.

²²روز بعد مردمی که در طرف دیگر بحیره ایستاده بودند دیدند که، به جز همان کشتی که شاگردان سوار شده بودند، کشتی دیگری در آنجا نبود و عیسی هم سوار آن نشده بود، بلکه شاگردان بدون عیسی رفته بودند.

²³However boats from Tiberias came near to the place where they ate the bread after the Lord had given thanks.

²³ولی کشتی های دیگری از تِبریه به نزدیکی همان محلی که خداوند نانها را برکت داده بود و مردم خورده بودند رسیدند.

²⁴When the multitude therefore saw that Jesus wasn’t there, nor his disciples, they themselves got into the boats, and came to Capernaum, seeking Jesus.

²⁴وقتی مردم دیدند که عیسی و شاگردانش در آنجا نیستند، سوار این کشتی ها شده در جستجوی عیسی به کپرناحوم رفتند.

²⁵When they found him on the other side of the sea, they asked him, “Rabbi, when did you come here?”

²⁵همین که او را در آن طرف بحیره پیدا کردند، به او گفتند: «ای استاد، چه وقت به اینجا آمدی؟»

²⁶Jesus answered them, “Most certainly I tell you, you seek me, not because you saw signs, but because you ate of the loaves, and were filled.

²⁶عیسی جواب داد: «بیقین بدانید به علت معجزاتی که دیده اید نیست که به دنبال من آمده اید، بلکه به خاطر نانی که خوردید و سیر شدید.

²⁷ Don’t work for the food which perishes, but for the food which remains to eternal life, which the Son of Man will give to you. For God the Father has sealed him.”

²⁷برای خوراک فانی تلاش نکنید بلکه برای خوراکی که تا زندگی ابدی باقی می ماند ـ یعنی خوراکی که پسر انسان به شما خواهد داد، زیرا که پدر او را تأیید کرده است.»

²⁸They said therefore to him, “What must we do, that we may work the works of God?”

²⁸آن ها از او پرسیدند: «وظیفه ما چیست؟ چطور می توانیم کارهایی را که خدا از ما می خواهد انجام دهیم؟»

²⁹Jesus answered them, “This is the work of God, that you believe in him whom he has sent.”

²⁹عیسی به ایشان جواب داد: «آن کاری که خدا از شما می خواهد اینست که به کسی که او فرستاده است ایمان بیاورید.»

³⁰They said therefore to him, “What then do you do for a sign, that we may see, and believe you? What work do you do?

³⁰آن ها گفتند: «چه معجزه ای نشان می دهی تا به تو ایمان بیاوریم؟ چه می کنی؟

³¹Our fathers ate the manna in the wilderness. As it is written, ‘He gave them bread out of heaven Greek and Hebrew use the same word for “heaven”, “the heavens”, “the sky”, and “the air”. to eat.’” Exodus 16:4; Nehemiah 9:15; Psalm 78:24-25

³¹پدران ما در بیابان نان مَنّا را خوردند و چنانکه نوشته شده است: او از آسمان به آن ها نان عطا فرمود تا بخورند.»

³²Jesus therefore said to them, “Most certainly, I tell you, it wasn’t Moses who gave you the bread out of heaven, but my Father gives you the true bread out of heaven.

³²عیسی به آنها گفت: «بیقین بدانید آن موسی نبود که از آسمان به شما نان داد، بلکه پدر من نان حقیقی را از آسمان به شما عطا می کند،

³³ For the bread of God is that which comes down out of heaven, and gives life to the world.”

³³زیرا نان خدا آن است که از آسمان نازل شده به دنیا زندگی می بخشد.»

³⁴They said therefore to him, “Lord, always give us this bread.”

³⁴به او گفتند: «ای آقا، همیشه این نان را به ما بده.»

³⁵Jesus said to them, “I am the bread of life. He who comes to me will not be hungry, and he who believes in me will never be thirsty.

³⁵عیسی به آن ها گفت: «من نان زندگی هستم. هر که نزد من بیاید، هرگز گرسنه نخواهد شد و هر که به من ایمان بیاورد، هرگز تشنه نخواهد گردید.

³⁶ But I told you that you have seen me, and yet you don’t believe.

³⁶اما چنانکه گفتم شما با اینکه مرا دیدید ایمان نمی آورید.

³⁷ All those whom the Father gives me will come to me. He who comes to me I will in no way throw out.

³⁷همۀ کسانی که پدر به من می بخشد به سوی من خواهند آمد و کسی را که پیش من می آید بیرون نخواهم کرد.

³⁸ For I have come down from heaven, not to do my own will, but the will of him who sent me.

³⁸من از آسمان به زمین آمده ام نه بخاطر آنکه ارادۀ خود را به عمل آورم، بلکه ارادۀ کسی را که مرا فرستاده است

³⁹ This is the will of my Father who sent me, that of all he has given to me I should lose nothing, but should raise him up at the last day.

³⁹و ارادۀ او اینست که من از همۀ کسانی که او به من داده است حتی یک نفر را هم از دست ندهم بلکه در روز آخرت آن ها را زنده کنم.

⁴⁰ This is the will of the one who sent me, that everyone who sees the Son, and believes in him, should have eternal life; and I will raise him up at the last day.”

⁴⁰زیرا خواست پدر من اینست که هر کس پسر را می بیند و به او ایمان می آورد صاحب زندگی ابدی گردد و من او را در روز آخرت زنده خواهم کرد.»

⁴¹The Jews therefore murmured concerning him, because he said, “I am the bread which came down out of heaven.”

⁴¹پس یهودیان شکایت کنان به او اعتراض کردند، زیرا او گفته بود: «من آن نانی هستم که از آسمان نازل شده است.»

⁴²They said, “Isn’t this Jesus, the son of Joseph, whose father and mother we know? How then does he say, ‘I have come down out of heaven?’”

⁴²آن ها گفتند: «آیا این مرد عیسی، پسر یوسف، نیست که ما پدر و مادر او را می شناسیم؟ پس چگونه می گوید: من از آسمان آمده ام.»

⁴³Therefore Jesus answered them, “Don’t murmur among yourselves.

⁴³عیسی در جواب گفت: «این قدر شکایت نکنید.

⁴⁴ No one can come to me unless the Father who sent me draws him, and I will raise him up in the last day.

⁴⁴هیچ کس نمی تواند نزد من بیاید، مگر اینکه پدری که مرا فرستاد او را به طرف من جذب نماید و من او را در روز آخرت زنده خواهم ساخت.

⁴⁵ It is written in the prophets, ‘They will all be taught by God.’ Isaiah 54:13 Therefore everyone who hears from the Father, and has learned, comes to me.

⁴⁵در کتب انبیاء نوشته شده است: همه از خدا تعلیم خواهند یافت. بنابراین هرکس صدای پدر را شنیده و از او تعلیم گرفته باشد، نزد من می آید.

⁴⁶ Not that anyone has seen the Father, except he who is from God. He has seen the Father.

⁴⁶البته هیچ کس پدر را ندیده است. فقط کسی که از جانب خدا آمده پدر را دیده است.

⁴⁷ Most certainly, I tell you, he who believes in me has eternal life.

⁴⁷بیقین بدانید کسی که به من ایمان می آورد زندگی ابدی دارد.

⁴⁸ I am the bread of life.

⁴⁸من نان زندگی هستم.

⁴⁹ Your fathers ate the manna in the wilderness, and they died.

⁴⁹پدران شما در بیابان نان مَنّا را خوردند ولی مردند.

⁵⁰ This is the bread which comes down out of heaven, that anyone may eat of it and not die.

⁵⁰اما من دربارۀ نانی صحبت می کنم که از آسمان نازل شده است و اگر کسی از آن بخورد هرگز نمی میرد.

⁵¹ I am the living bread which came down out of heaven. If anyone eats of this bread, he will live forever. Yes, the bread which I will give for the life of the world is my flesh.”

⁵¹من آن نان زنده هستم که از آسمان آمده است. هرکه این نان را بخورد تا ابد زنده خواهد ماند و نانی که من خواهم داد، بدن خودم می باشد، که آنرا بخاطر زندگی دنیا می دهم.»

⁵²The Jews therefore contended with one another, saying, “How can this man give us his flesh to eat?”

⁵²یهودیان با یکدیگر به مشاجره پرداختند و می گفتند: «چگونه این شخص می تواند بدن خود را به ما بدهد تا بخوریم؟»

⁵³Jesus therefore said to them, “Most certainly I tell you, unless you eat the flesh of the Son of Man and drink his blood, you don’t have life in yourselves.

⁵³عیسی جواب داد: «بیقین بدانید اگر بدن پسر انسان را نخورید و خون او را ننوشید در خود زندگی ندارید.

⁵⁴ He who eats my flesh and drinks my blood has eternal life, and I will raise him up at the last day.

⁵⁴هر که بدن مرا بخورد و خون مرا بنوشد، زندگی ابدی دارد و من در روز آخرت او را زنده خواهم ساخت.

⁵⁵ For my flesh is food indeed, and my blood is drink indeed.

⁵⁵زیرا جسم من خوراک حقیقی و خون من نوشیدنی حقیقی است.

⁵⁶ He who eats my flesh and drinks my blood lives in me, and I in him.

⁵⁶هر که جسم مرا می خورد و خون مرا می نوشد، در من ساکن است و من در او.

⁵⁷ As the living Father sent me, and I live because of the Father; so he who feeds on me, he will also live because of me.

⁵⁷همانطوری که پدر زنده مرا فرستاد و من بوسیلۀ پدر زنده هستم، هر که مرا بخورد به وسیلۀ من زنده خواهد ماند.

⁵⁸ This is the bread which came down out of heaven—not as our fathers ate the manna, and died. He who eats this bread will live forever.”

⁵⁸این نانی که از آسمان نازل شده، مانند نانی نیست که پدران شما خوردند و مردند. زیرا هر که از این نان بخورد تا به ابد زنده خواهد ماند.»

⁵⁹He said these things in the synagogue, as he taught in Capernaum.

⁵⁹این چیزها را عیسی هنگامی که در کنیسه ای در کپرناحوم تعلیم می داد فرمود.

⁶⁰Therefore many of his disciples, when they heard this, said, “This is a hard saying! Who can listen to it?”

⁶⁰بسیاری از پیروانش هنگامی که این را شنیدند گفتند: «این سخن سخت است، چه کسی می تواند به آن گوش دهد؟»

⁶¹But Jesus knowing in himself that his disciples murmured at this, said to them, “Does this cause you to stumble?

⁶¹وقتی عیسی احساس کرد که پیروانش از این موضوع شکایت می کنند، به آن ها گفت: «آیا این مطلب باعث لغزش شما شد؟

⁶² Then what if you would see the Son of Man ascending to where he was before?

⁶²پس اگر پسر انسان را ببینید که به مکان اول خود صعود می کند چه خواهید کرد؟

⁶³ It is the spirit who gives life. The flesh profits nothing. The words that I speak to you are spirit, and are life.

⁶³روح است که زندگی می بخشد ولی جسم فایده ای ندارد. سخنانی که به شما می گویم روح و زندگی است

⁶⁴ But there are some of you who don’t believe.” For Jesus knew from the beginning who they were who didn’t believe, and who it was who would betray him.

⁶⁴ولی بعضی از شما ایمان ندارید.» زیرا عیسی از ابتدا کسانی را که ایمان نداشتند و همچنین آن کسی را که بعداً او را تسلیم کرد می شناخت.

⁶⁵He said, “For this cause have I said to you that no one can come to me, unless it is given to him by my Father.”

⁶⁵پس گفت: «به همین دلیل به شما گفتم که هیچ کس نمی تواند نزد من بیاید، مگر آنکه پدر من این فیض را به او عطا کرده باشد.»

⁶⁶At this, many of his disciples went back, and walked no more with him.

⁶⁶از آن به بعد بسیاری از پیروان او برگشتند و دیگر با او همراهی نکردند.

⁶⁷Jesus said therefore to the twelve, “You don’t also want to go away, do you?”

⁶⁷آن وقت عیسی از دوازده حواری پرسید: «آیا شما هم می خواهید مرا ترک کنید؟»

⁶⁸Simon Peter answered him, “Lord, to whom would we go? You have the words of eternal life.

⁶⁸شمعون پِترُس در جواب گفت: «ای خداوند، نزد که برویم؟ کلمات زندگی ابدی نزد توست.

⁶⁹We have come to believe and know that you are the Christ, the Son of the living God.”

⁶⁹ما ایمان آورده و دانسته ایم که تو آن قدوسِ خدا هستی.»

⁷⁰Jesus answered them, “Didn’t I choose you, the twelve, and one of you is a devil?”

⁷⁰عیسی جواب داد: «آیا من شما دوازده نفر را برنگزیده ام؟ در حالیکه یکی از شما شیطان است.»این را دربارۀ یهودای اسخریوطی پسر شمعون گفت. زیرا او که یکی از آن دوازده حواری بود، قصد داشت عیسی را تسلیم کند.

⁷¹Now he spoke of Judas, the son of Simon Iscariot, for it was he who would betray him, being one of the twelve.

⁷¹این را دربارۀ یهودای اسخریوطی پسر شمعون گفت. زیرا او که یکی از آن دوازده حواری بود، قصد داشت عیسی را تسلیم کند.
