¹Now it happened after the death of Moses the servant of Yahweh, “Yahweh” is God’s proper Name, sometimes rendered “LORD” (all caps) in other translations. that Yahweh spoke to Joshua the son of Nun, Moses’ servant, saying,

¹بعد از وفات موسی، خدمتگار خداوند، خداوند به دستیار موسی، یوشع پسر نون گفت:

²“Moses my servant is dead; now therefore arise, go over this Jordan, you, and all this people, to the land which I give to them, even to the children of Israel.

²«بندۀ من موسی از جهان رفت. پس تو و همۀ مردم اسرائیل آماده شوید تا از دریای اُردن عبور کرده به سرزمینی که من به آن ها داده ام بروید.

³I have given you every place that the sole of your foot will tread on, as I told Moses.

³چنانچه به موسی گفته ام به شما هم می گویم که به هر جائیکه پای شما برسد، آنجا به شما متعلق خواهد بود.

⁴From the wilderness, and this Lebanon, even to the great river, the river Euphrates, all the land of the Hittites, and to the great sea toward the going down of the sun, shall be your border.

⁴سرحدات آن سرزمین از جنوب به بیابان، از شمال به کوههای لبنان، از مغرب به سواحل مدیترانه و از مشرق به دریای فرات می رسند. و همچنین کشور حِتیان را در اختیار شما می گذارم.

⁵No man will be able to stand before you all the days of your life. As I was with Moses, so I will be with you. I will not fail you nor forsake you.

⁵و تا که زنده باشی، هیچکس نمی تواند در برابر تو مقاومت کند. مثلیکه با موسی بودم با تو هم می باشم. و همیشه همراه تو بوده هیچگاهی ترکت نمی کنم.

⁶“Be strong and courageous; for you shall cause this people to inherit the land which I swore to their fathers to give them.

⁶با جرأت و دلیر باش، زیرا تو یک رهبر موفقی برای قوم برگزیدۀ من می شوی و قراریکه به پدران شان وعده داده ام، آن ها تمام آن سرزمین را تصاحب می کنند.

⁷Only be strong and very courageous, to observe to do according to all the law, which Moses my servant commanded you. Don’t turn from it to the right hand or to the left, that you may have good success wherever you go.

⁷بی جرأت و کمدل نباشی و هرکاری که می کنی باید مطابق احکام شریعت موسی باشد. چون اگر براه شریعت رفتار کنی به هرجائیکه قدم بگذاری کامیابی نصیبت می شود.

⁸This book of the law shall not depart out of your mouth, but you shall meditate on it day and night, that you may observe to do according to all that is written therein: for then you shall make your way prosperous, and then you shall have good success.

⁸کلام تورات باید همیشه ورد زبانت باشد و شب و روز به آن بیندیشی. به احکام آن توجه کرده از هر امر آن پیروی نمائی. پس در آنصورت کامران و موفق می شوی.

⁹Haven’t I commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Don’t be afraid, neither be dismayed: for Yahweh your God The Hebrew word rendered “God” is “Elohim.” is with you wherever you go.”

⁹باز می گویم که دلیر و با جرأت باش. ترس و شک را در دل خود راه مده، زیرا خداوند، خدای تو در همه جا همراه تو است.»

¹⁰Then Joshua commanded the officers of the people, saying,

¹⁰پس یوشع به سرکردگان قوم امر کرده گفت: «به همه مردم در اردو بگوئید که آذوقۀ خود را تهیه کنند، زیرا سه روز بعد از دریای اُردن عبور می کنیم و سرزمینی را که خداوند به ما وعده فرموده است، متصرف می شویم.»

¹¹“Pass through the midst of the camp, and command the people, saying, ‘Prepare food; for within three days you are to pass over this Jordan, to go in to possess the land, which Yahweh your God gives you to possess it.’”

¹¹یوشع به سرکردگان قبیلۀ رؤبین و جاد و نیم قبیلۀ مَنَسّی خاطرنشان کرده گفت: «کلام موسی، خدمتگار خداوند را بیاد داشته باشید که فرمود: «خداوند، خدای شما سرزمینی را که در شرق اُردن است به شما می دهد که وطن و خانۀ تان باشد.» با زنها، اطفال و گله و رمۀ تان به آسودگی در آن زندگی کنید. اما مردان مسلح تان باید آماده برای جنگ، پیشاپیش قوم خود از دریا عبور کنند تا با آن ها در مورد تصرف آن سرزمین کمک نمایند.

¹²Joshua spoke to the Reubenites, and to the Gadites, and to the half-tribe of Manasseh, saying,

¹²و همراه آن ها بمانند تا آنجا را که در غرب اُردن است و خداوند وعدۀ ملکیت آنرا به آن ها داده است بکلی تصرف کنند. وقتیکه همگی آرام و آسوده شدند، آنگاه می توانند به وطن خود، در شرق اُردن، که خدمتگار خداوند، موسی به شما داده است، برگردند.»

¹³“Remember the word which Moses the servant of Yahweh commanded you, saying, ‘Yahweh your God gives you rest, and will give you this land.

¹³همگی موافقه کردند و گفتند: «هر چیزی را که به ما امر کردی بجا می آوریم و به هر جائیکه ما را بفرستی، می رویم.

¹⁴Your wives, your little ones, and your livestock, shall live in the land which Moses gave you beyond the Jordan; but you shall pass over before your brothers armed, all the mighty men of valor, and shall help them

¹⁴و همانطوریکه از موسی در همه امور اطاعت کردیم از تو هم اطاعت می نمائیم. و دعا می کنیم، مثلیکه خداوند، خدای تو، همراه موسی بود، همراه تو هم باشد!و هر کسیکه با تو مخالفت نماید، یا از تو پیروی نکند کشته می شود. پس دلیر و با جرأت باش!»

¹⁵until Yahweh has given your brothers rest, as he has given you, and they have also possessed the land which Yahweh your God gives them. Then you shall return to the land of your possession, and possess it, which Moses the servant of Yahweh gave you beyond the Jordan toward the sunrise.’”

¹⁵و هر کسیکه با تو مخالفت نماید، یا از تو پیروی نکند کشته می شود. پس دلیر و با جرأت باش!»

¹⁶They answered Joshua, saying, “All that you have commanded us we will do, and wherever you send us we will go.

¹⁷Just as we listened to Moses in all things, so will we listen to you. Only may Yahweh your God be with you, as he was with Moses.

¹⁸Whoever rebels against your commandment, and doesn’t listen to your words in all that you command him, he shall be put to death. Only be strong and courageous.”
