1After Abimelech there arose to save Israel Tola the son of Puah, the son of Dodo, a man of Issachar; and he lived in Shamir in the hill country of Ephraim.
1بعد از وفات اَبیمَلِک، یکنفر از قبیلۀ ایسَسکار بنام تولَع پسر فواه نواسۀ دودا برای نجات قوم اسرائیل آمد. او در شهر شامیر، در کوهستان افرایم زندگی می کرد.
2He judged Israel twenty-three years, and died, and was buried in Shamir.
2و مدت بیست و سه سال بر اسرائیل داوری کرد. بعد از وفاتش او را در شامیر بخاک سپردند.
3After him arose Jair, the Gileadite; and he judged Israel twenty-two years.
3بعد از او یایر جِلعادی بیست و دو سال داور اسرائیل بود.
4He had thirty sons who rode on thirty donkey colts, and they had thirty cities, which are called Havvoth Jair to this day, which are in the land of Gilead.
4او دارای سی پسر بود که بر سی الاغ سوار می شدند. و سی شهر در کشور جِلعاد داشتند که تا به امروز بنام شهرهای یایر یاد می شوند.
5Jair died, and was buried in Kamon.
5وقتیکه یایر فوت کرد، او را در قامُون دفن کردند.
6The children of Israel again did that which was evil in the sight of Yahweh, and served the Baals, and the Ashtaroth, and the gods of Syria, and the gods of Sidon, and the gods of Moab, and the gods of the children of Ammon, and the gods of the Philistines; and they forsook Yahweh, and didn’t serve him.
6باز مردم اسرائیل کارهائی کردند که خداوند از آن ها ناراضی شد. آن ها خدایان بَعل و عَشتاروت، یعنی خدایان مردم ارام، سِیدون، موآب، عمونیان و فلسطینی ها را می پرستیدند و خداوند را فراموش کرده از عبادت او دست کشیدند.
7The anger of Yahweh was kindled against Israel, and he sold them into the hand of the Philistines, and into the hand of the children of Ammon.
7بنابران، آتش غضب خداوند شعله ور شد و آن ها را غلامان فلسطینی ها و عمونیان ساخت.
8They troubled and oppressed the children of Israel that year. For eighteen years, they oppressed all the children of Israel that were beyond the Jordan in the land of the Amorites, which is in Gilead.
8و آن ها بزودی ظلم و ستم را بر مردم اسرائیل که در شرق اُردن، در کشور اموریان، (یعنی جلعاد) بودند، شروع کردند و قوم اسرائیل برای هجده سال ستم کشیدند و ظلم دیدند.
9The children of Ammon passed over the Jordan to fight also against Judah, and against Benjamin, and against the house of Ephraim; so that Israel was very distressed.
9عمونیان از دریای اُردن عبور کرده برای جنگ با قبایل یهودا، بنیامین و افرایم رفتند. و زندگی را بر مردم اسرائیل تلخ و زار ساختند.
10The children of Israel cried to Yahweh, saying, “We have sinned against you, even because we have forsaken our God, and have served the Baals.”
10قوم اسرائیل بحضور خداوند گریه و زاری کردند و گفتند: «ما در برابر تو گناه کرده ایم، زیرا ما خدای خود را ترک نموده بندگی خدایان بَعل را کردیم.»
11Yahweh said to the children of Israel, “Didn’t I save you from the Egyptians, and from the Amorites, from the children of Ammon, and from the Philistines?
11خداوند به آن ها فرمود: «آیا من شما را از دست مردمان مصر، اموری، عَمونی و فلسطینی نجات ندادم؟
12The Sidonians also, and the Amalekites, and the Maonites, oppressed you; and you cried to me, and I saved you out of their hand.
12و همچنین مردم سِیدون، عمالیق و معونی که بر شما ظلم می کردند و شما پیش من از دست آن ها گریه کردید و من بودم که شما را از ظلم آن ها آزاد کردم.
13Yet you have forsaken me, and served other gods: therefore I will save you no more.
13اما شما مرا ترک کردید و خدایان بیگانه را پرستیدید، بنابران، من دیگر شما را نجات نمی دهم.
14Go and cry to the gods which you have chosen. Let them save you in the time of your distress!”
14بروید پیش همان خدایانی که بندگی شان را می کردید تا شما را از ظلم و ستمی که می بینید، رهائی بخشند.»
15The children of Israel said to Yahweh, “We have sinned: do you to us whatever seems good to you; only deliver us, please, this day.”
15مردم اسرائیل به خداوند گفتند: «ما گناهکاریم. هرچه که می خواهی در حق ما بکن. ما بدربارت دعا می کنیم و می خواهیم که فقط امروز ما را نجات بدهی.»
16They put away the foreign gods from among them, and served Yahweh; and his soul was grieved for the misery of Israel.
16پس آن ها خدایان بیگانه را از بین بردند و دوباره خداوند را پرستش کردند. و خداوند به حال شان رحم کرد.
17Then the children of Ammon were gathered together, and encamped in Gilead. The children of Israel assembled themselves together, and encamped in Mizpah.
17در این وقت عمونیان سپاه خود را در جلعاد آماده و مجهز کردند. و مردم اسرائیل هم همه یکجا شده در مِصفه اردو زدند.قوماندان های سپاه جلعاد از یکدیگر پرسیدند: «چه کسی می خواهد سرکردۀ ما در جنگ با عمونیان باشد؟ و هر کسی که داوطلب شود، آن شخص پادشاه ما خواهد بود.»
18The people, the princes of Gilead, said one to another, “What man is he who will begin to fight against the children of Ammon? He shall be head over all the inhabitants of Gilead.”
18قوماندان های سپاه جلعاد از یکدیگر پرسیدند: «چه کسی می خواهد سرکردۀ ما در جنگ با عمونیان باشد؟ و هر کسی که داوطلب شود، آن شخص پادشاه ما خواهد بود.»
