1Yahweh said to Moses, “Speak to the priests, the sons of Aaron, and say to them, ‘A priest shall not defile himself for the dead among his people;
1خداوند به موسی فرمود: «به هارون و پسرانش بگو که هرگز به جنازۀ کسی دست نزنند، زیرا شرعاً نجس می شوند،
2except for his relatives that are near to him: for his mother, for his father, for his son, for his daughter, for his brother,
2مگر اینکه جنازۀ یکی از خویشاوندان نزدیک، یعنی مادر، پدر، پسر، دختر، برادر
3and for his virgin sister who is near to him, who has had no husband; for her he may defile himself.
3یا خواهرش که شوهر نکرده و در خانۀ او می زیسته است، باشد.
4He shall not defile himself, being a chief man among his people, to profane himself.
4چون کاهن رهبر قوم خود است، نباید مانند اشخاص عادی خود را با تماس به جسد مرده ای که از اقارب اوست، نجس سازد.
5“‘They shall not shave their heads, neither shall they shave off the corners of their beards, nor make any cuttings in their flesh.
5کاهنان نباید سر خود را بتراشد یا ریش خود را کوتاه کند و یا بدن خود را زخمی نماید.
6They shall be holy to their God, and not profane the name of their God; for they offer the offerings of Yahweh made by fire, the bread of their God; therefore they shall be holy.
6او باید برای خدا پاک و مقدس باشد و نام مرا بی حرمت نسازد. چون او برای من هدیه های خوردنی بر آتش تقدیم می کند، لهذا باید مقدس باشد.
7“‘They shall not marry a woman who is a prostitute, or profane; neither shall they marry a woman divorced from her husband: for he is holy to his God.
7او نباید با زن فاحشه و زنی که باکره نیست و یا زنی که طلاق شده است عروسی کند، زیرا او پیش خدای خود مقدس است.
8You shall sanctify him therefore; for he offers the bread of your God: he shall be holy to you: for I Yahweh, who sanctify you, am holy.
8کاهنان را باید مقدس بشمارید، زیرا که آن ها هدیه های خوردنی برای من تقدیم می کنند. من خداوند و مقدس هستم و شما را تقدیس می کنم.
9“‘The daughter of any priest, if she profanes herself by playing the prostitute, she profanes her father: she shall be burned with fire.
9اگر دختر کاهن فاحشه شود، پدر خود را بی حرمت می سازد و باید او را زنده در آتش بسوزانند.
10“‘He who is the high priest among his brothers, upon whose head the anointing oil is poured, and that is consecrated to put on the garments, shall not let the hair of his head hang loose, nor tear his clothes;
10کاهن اعظم که با روغن مخصوص مسح و تقدیس شده است و لباس کاهنی می پوشد نباید هنگام ماتم موهای سر خود را باز و پریشان گذارد یا جامۀ خود را بدرد.
11neither shall he go in to any dead body, nor defile himself for his father, or for his mother;
11چون او برای من مسح و تقدیس شده است، نباید با خارج شدن از عبادتگاه و رفتن به خانه ای که جنازه در آن است، حتی اگر جنازۀ پدر و مادرش باشد، عبادتگاه مرا بی حرمت سازد.
12neither shall he go out of the sanctuary, nor profane the sanctuary of his God; for the crown of the anointing oil of his God is upon him. I am Yahweh.
12با دختری که باکره است باید ازدواج کند و با زن بیوه، طلاق شده یا فاحشه عروسی نکند، بلکه زن او دختر باکره ای از قوم خودش باشد.
13“‘He shall take a wife in her virginity.
13در غیر آن فرزندان او در بین مردم بی حرمت خواهند بود.»
14A widow, or one divorced, or a woman who has been defiled, or a prostitute, these he shall not marry: but a virgin of his own people shall he take as a wife.
14خداوند به موسی فرمود: «به هارون بگو که اگر در نسلهای آینده یکی از اولادۀ او عیب جسمانی داشته باشد، نباید هدیۀ خوردنی بحضور من تقدیم کند.
15He shall not profane his seed among his people: for I am Yahweh who sanctifies him.’”
15و کسی که معیوب و کور یا شل باشد، یا نقصی در روی خود داشته و یا دست یا پایش شکسته باشد، نباید هدیه ای را بحضور من تقدیم کند.
16Yahweh spoke to Moses, saying,
16شخصی که کوژپشت، کوتاه قد، مبتلا به چشم دردی یا مرض جلدی و یا مخنث باشد،
17“Say to Aaron, ‘None of your seed throughout their generations who has a blemish, may approach to offer the bread of his God.
17به خاطر عیب جسمانی اش حق ندارد که هدیه های خوردنی بحضور من بر آتش تقدیم کند.
18For whatever man he is that has a blemish, he shall not draw near: a blind man, or a lame, or he who has a flat nose, or any deformity,
18او می تواند از هدیه های مقدس و هم از مقدسترین هدیه ها که بحضور من تقدیم می شوند، بخورد.
19or a man who has an injured foot, or an injured hand,
19اما او نباید به نزدیک پردۀ مقدس و یا قربانگاه برود، چون نقص جسمانی دارد و با این کار خود اشیای مقدس مرا بی حرمت می سازد، زیرا من خداوند هستم و آن ها را تقدیس کرده ام.»به این ترتیب موسی این هدایات را به هارون، پسران او و قوم اسرائیل داد.
20or hunchbacked, or a dwarf, or one who has a defect in his eye, or an itching disease, or scabs, or who has damaged testicles;
20به این ترتیب موسی این هدایات را به هارون، پسران او و قوم اسرائیل داد.
21no man of the seed of Aaron the priest who has a blemish, shall come near to offer the offerings of Yahweh made by fire. Since he has a blemish, he shall not come near to offer the bread of his God.
22He shall eat the bread of his God, both of the most holy, and of the holy.
23He shall not come near to the veil, nor come near to the altar, because he has a blemish; that he may not profane my sanctuaries, for I am Yahweh who sanctifies them.’”
24So Moses spoke to Aaron, and to his sons, and to all the children of Israel.
