¹He began to speak to them in parables. “A man planted a vineyard, put a hedge around it, dug a pit for the winepress, built a tower, rented it out to a farmer, and went into another country.

¹عیسی به سخن خود ادامه داده و در قالب مَثَل به ایشان گفت: «مردی تاکستانی احداث کرد و دور آن دیواری کشید. در داخل آن چرخُشتی برای گرفتن آب انگور کند و یک برج هم برای آن ساخت، بعد آن را به باغبانان سپرد و خود به سفر رفت.

² When it was time, he sent a servant to the farmer to get from the farmer his share of the fruit of the vineyard.

²در موسم انگور، غلامی را پیش باغبانان فرستاد تا حصه خود را از حاصل تاکستان بگیرد.

³ They took him, beat him, and sent him away empty.

³اما آن ها آن غلام را گرفته لت و کوب کردند و دست خالی بازگردانیدند.

⁴ Again, he sent another servant to them; and they threw stones at him, wounded him in the head, and sent him away shamefully treated.

⁴صاحب تاکستان غلام دیگری نزد ایشان فرستاد. او را هم سنگسار کردند و سرش را شکستند و با بی احترامی برگردانیدند.

⁵ Again he sent another; and they killed him; and many others, beating some, and killing some.

⁵باز غلام دیگری فرستاد، او را هم کشتند. بسیاری از کسان دیگر را نیز همینطور، بعضی را زدند و بعضی را کشتند.

⁶ Therefore still having one, his beloved son, he sent him last to them, saying, ‘They will respect my son.’

⁶صاحب باغ فقط یک نفر دیگر داشت که بفرستد و آن هم پسر عزیز خودش بود، آخر او را فرستاد و پیش خود گفت: «آن ها احترام پسرم را نگاه خواهند داشت.»

⁷ But those farmers said among themselves, ‘This is the heir. Come, let’s kill him, and the inheritance will be ours.’

⁷اما باغبانان به یکدیگر گفتند: «این وارث است، بیایید او را بکشیم تا ملک او از ما شود.»

⁸ They took him, killed him, and cast him out of the vineyard.

⁸پس پسر را گرفتند و او را کشتند و از تاکستان بیرون انداختند.

⁹ What therefore will the lord of the vineyard do? He will come and destroy the farmers, and will give the vineyard to others.

⁹صاحب تاکستان چه خواهد کرد؟ او می آید این باغبان را می کشد و تاکستان را به دیگران واگذار می کند.

¹⁰ Haven’t you even read this Scripture: ‘The stone which the builders rejected, the same was made the head of the corner.

¹⁰مگر در کلام خدا نخوانده اید: «آن سنگی که معماران رد کردند، به صورت سنگ اصلی بنا درآمده است،

¹¹ This was from the Lord, it is marvelous in our eyes’?” Psalm 118:22-23

¹¹این کار خداوند است و به چشم ما عجیب می نماید!»»

¹²They tried to seize him, but they feared the multitude; for they perceived that he spoke the parable against them. They left him, and went away.

¹²رهبران یهود خواستند عیسی را دستگیر کنند، چون فهمیدند روی سخن او با آن ها بود، اما از مردم می ترسیدند. پس او را ترک کردند و رفتند.

¹³They sent some of the Pharisees and of the Herodians to him, that they might trap him with words.

¹³عده ای از پیروان فرقۀ فریسی و طرفداران هیرودیس فرستاده شدند تا عیسی را با سؤالات خویش به دام بیندازند.

¹⁴When they had come, they asked him, “Teacher, we know that you are honest, and don’t defer to anyone; for you aren’t partial to anyone, but truly teach the way of God. Is it lawful to pay taxes to Caesar, or not?

¹⁴آن ها نزد او آمده گفتند: «ای استاد، می دانیم که تو شخص درستی هستی و از کسی طرفداری نمی کنی، چون به ظاهر اشخاص نگاه نمی کنی بلکه با راستی راه خدا را تعلیم می دهی. آیا دادن مالیات به امپراطور روم جایز است یا نه؟ آیا باید مالیات بدهیم یا نه؟»

¹⁵Shall we give, or shall we not give?” But he, knowing their hypocrisy, said to them, “Why do you test me? Bring me a denarius, that I may see it.”

¹⁵عیسی به دسیسۀ ایشان پی برد و فرمود: «چرا مرا امتحان می کنید؟ یک سکۀ نقره بیاورید تا ببینم.»

¹⁶They brought it. He said to them, “Whose is this image and inscription?” They said to him, “Caesar’s.”

¹⁶آن ها برایش آوردند. او به ایشان فرمود: «نقش و عنوان چه کسی روی آن است؟» جواب دادند: «نقش و عنوان امپراطور.»

¹⁷Jesus answered them, “Render to Caesar the things that are Caesar’s, and to God the things that are God’s.” They marveled greatly at him.

¹⁷پس عیسی فرمود: «بسیار خوب، آنچه را از امپراطور است به امپراطور و آنچه را از خداست به خدا بدهید.» و آنها از سخنان او تعجب کردند.

¹⁸There came to him Sadducees, who say that there is no resurrection. They asked him, saying,

¹⁸بعد پیروان فرقۀ صدوقی پیش او آمدند. (این فرقه معتقد بودند که پس از مرگ رستاخیزی وجود ندارد.) آن ها از عیسی پرسیدند:

¹⁹“Teacher, Moses wrote to us, ‘If a man’s brother dies, and leaves a wife behind him, and leaves no children, that his brother should take his wife, and raise up offspring for his brother.’

¹⁹«ای استاد، موسی برای ما نوشته است اگر مردی بمیرد و زنش بدون اولاد باشد برادرش مجبور است، آن زن را بگیرد تا برای او فرزندانی بیاورد.

²⁰There were seven brothers. The first took a wife, and dying left no offspring.

²⁰هفت برادر بودند، اولی زنی گرفت و بدون اولاد مرد،

²¹The second took her, and died, leaving no children behind him. The third likewise;

²¹بعد دومی آن زن را گرفت و او هم بی اولاد مرد. همینطور سومی.

²²and the seven took her and left no children. Last of all the woman also died.

²²تا بالاخره هر هفت نفر مردند و هیچ اولادی بجا نگذاشتند. بعد از همه آن زن هم مرد.

²³In the resurrection, when they rise, whose wife will she be of them? For the seven had her as a wife.”

²³در روز رستاخیز وقتی آن ها دوباره زنده می شوند او زن کدام یک از آن ها خواهد بود؟ چون هر هفت نفر با او ازدواج کردند.»

²⁴Jesus answered them, “Isn’t this because you are mistaken, not knowing the Scriptures, nor the power of God?

²⁴عیسی به ایشان فرمود: «آیا گمراهی شما به این علت نیست که نه از کلام خدا خبر دارید و نه از قدرت خدا!

²⁵ For when they will rise from the dead, they neither marry, nor are given in marriage, but are like angels in heaven.

²⁵وقتی انسان از عالم مردگان قیام می کند، دیگر نه زن می گیرد و نه شوهر می کند، بلکه مانند فرشتگان آسمانی است.

²⁶ But about the dead, that they are raised; haven’t you read in the book of Moses, about the Bush, how God spoke to him, saying, ‘I am the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob’ Exodus 3:6 ?

²⁶و اما دربارۀ قیامت مردگان، مگر تا بحال در کتاب موسی در داستان بوتۀ سوزان نخوانده اید که خدا چطور با او صحبت کرد و فرمود: «من خدای ابراهیم و خدای اسحاق و خدای یعقوب هستم.»

²⁷ He is not the God of the dead, but of the living. You are therefore badly mistaken.”

²⁷خدا، خدای مردگان نیست، بلکه خدای زندگان است. شما سخت گمراه هستید.»

²⁸One of the scribes came, and heard them questioning together. Knowing that he had answered them well, asked him, “Which commandment is the greatest of all?”

²⁸یکی از علمای دین که بحث آنها را شنید و پی برد که عیسی جواب عالی به آن ها داده است، پیش آمد و پرسید: «مهمترین حکم شریعت کدام است؟»

²⁹Jesus answered, “The greatest is, ‘Hear, Israel, the Lord our God, the Lord is one:

²⁹عیسی جواب داد: «اول این است: ای اسرائیل بشنو، خداوند، خدای ما، خداوند یکتا است

³⁰ you shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind, and with all your strength.’ Deuteronomy 6:4-5 This is the first commandment.

³⁰و خداوند، خدای خود را با تمام دل و تمام جان و تمام ذهن و تمام قوّت خود دوست بدار.

³¹ The second is like this, ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself.’ Leviticus 19:18 There is no other commandment greater than these.”

³¹و دوم این است: همسایه ات را مانند خود محبت نما. هیچ حکمی بزرگتر از این دو وجود ندارد.»

³²The scribe said to him, “Truly, teacher, you have said well that he is one, and there is none other but he,

³²آن شخص به او گفت: «ای استاد، درست است، حقیقت را فرمودی ـ خدا یکی است و به جز او خدایی نیست

³³and to love him with all the heart, and with all the understanding, with all the soul, and with all the strength, and to love his neighbor as himself, is more important than all whole burnt offerings and sacrifices.”

³³و دوست داشتن او با تمامی دل و تمام عقل و تمام قدرت و دوست داشتن همسایه مثل خود از همۀ هدایای سوختنی و قربانی ها بالا تر است.»

³⁴When Jesus saw that he answered wisely, he said to him, “You are not far from the Kingdom of God.” No one dared ask him any question after that.

³⁴وقتی عیسی دید که جوابی عاقلانه داده است، به او فرمود: «تو از پادشاهی خدا دور نیستی.» بعد از آن دیگر کسی جرأت نمی کرد از عیسی سؤالی بکند.

³⁵Jesus responded, as he taught in the temple, “How is it that the scribes say that the Christ is the son of David?

³⁵عیسی ضمن تعالیم خود در عبادتگاه چنین گفت: «علمای دین چطور می توانند بگویند که مسیح، پسر داود است؟

³⁶ For David himself said in the Holy Spirit, ‘The Lord said to my Lord, “Sit at my right hand, until I make your enemies the footstool of your feet.”’ Psalm 110:1

³⁶در حالی که خود داود با الهام روح القدس گفت: «خداوند به خداوند من گفت: در دست راست من بنشین تا دشمنانت را زیر پای تو اندازم.»

³⁷ Therefore David himself calls him Lord, so how can he be his son?” The common people heard him gladly.

³⁷پس وقتی خود داود او را خداوند می خواند، چطور او می تواند پسر داود باشد؟» جمعیت کثیری با علاقه به سخنان او گوش می دادند.

³⁸In his teaching he said to them, “Beware of the scribes, who like to walk in long robes, and to get greetings in the marketplaces,

³⁸عیسی در ضمن تعالیم خود به آن ها فرمود: «از علمای دین که دوست دارند، با چپن های دراز بیایند و بروند و علاقه شدیدی به سلام های احترام آمیز دیگران در بازار ها دارند احتیاط کنید.

³⁹ and the best seats in the synagogues, and the best places at feasts:

³⁹آن ها بهترین جاها را در کنیسه ها، و صدر مجالس را در مهمانی ها اشغال می کنند،

⁴⁰ those who devour widows’ houses, and for a pretense make long prayers. These will receive greater condemnation.”

⁴⁰مال بیوه زنان را می خورند و محض خودنمایی دعای خود را طول می دهند. جزای آن ها سخت تر خواهد بود.»

⁴¹Jesus sat down opposite the treasury, and saw how the multitude cast money into the treasury. Many who were rich cast in much.

⁴¹عیسی در برابر صندوق بیت المال عبادتگاه نشسته بود و می دید که چگونه اشخاص به آن صندوق پول می انداختند. بسیاری از دولتمندان پول های زیادی دادند.

⁴²A poor widow came, and she cast in two small brass coins, literally, lepta (or widow’s mites). Lepta are very small brass coins worth half a quadrans each, which is a quarter of the copper assarion. Lepta are worth less than 1% of an agricultural worker’s daily wages. which equal a quadrans coin. A quadrans is a coin worth about 1/64 of a denarius. A denarius is about one day’s wages for an agricultural laborer.

⁴²بیوه زن فقیری هم آمد و دو سکه که تقریباً دو روپیه می شد در صندوق انداخت.

⁴³He called his disciples to himself, and said to them, “Most certainly I tell you, this poor widow gave more than all those who are giving into the treasury,

⁴³عیسی شاگردان خود را پیش خود خواند و فرمود: «بیقین بدانید که این بیوه زن فقیر بیش از همۀ کسانی که در صندوق پول انداختند، پول داده است.چون آن ها از آنچه که برای آن مصرفی نداشتند دادند، اما او با وجود تنگدستی، هرچه داشت یعنی تمام دارایی خود را داد.»

⁴⁴ for they all gave out of their abundance, but she, out of her poverty, gave all that she had to live on.”

⁴⁴چون آن ها از آنچه که برای آن مصرفی نداشتند دادند، اما او با وجود تنگدستی، هرچه داشت یعنی تمام دارایی خود را داد.»
