¹He said to them, “Most certainly I tell you, there are some standing here who will in no way taste death until they see the Kingdom of God come with power.”

¹او همچنین فرمود: «بیقین بدانید که بعضی از کسانی که در اینجا ایستاده اند، تا پادشاهی خدا را که با قدرت می آید نبینند، نخواهند مرد.»

²After six days Jesus took with him Peter, James, and John, and brought them up onto a high mountain privately by themselves, and he was changed into another form in front of them.

²شش روز بعد، عیسی پِترُس و یعقوب و یوحنا را برداشت و آن ها را با خود به کوه بلندی برد. او در آنجا با این شاگردان تنها بود و در حضور آن ها هیئت او تغییر یافت.

³His clothing became glistening, exceedingly white, like snow, such as no launderer on earth can whiten them.

³و لباس هایش چنان سفید و درخشان شد، که هیچ کس روی زمین نمی تواند لباسی را آنقدر پاک بشوید.

⁴Elijah and Moses appeared to them, and they were talking with Jesus.

⁴آنگاه آن ها الیاس و موسی را دیدند که با عیسی مشغول صحبت بودند.

⁵Peter answered Jesus, “Rabbi, it is good for us to be here. Let’s make three tents: one for you, one for Moses, and one for Elijah.”

⁵پِترُس به عیسی گفت: «ای استاد، چقدر خوب است که ما در اینجا هستیم. سه سایبان خواهیم ساخت ـ یکی برای تو و یکی برای موسی و یکی هم برای الیاس.»

⁶For he didn’t know what to say, for they were very afraid.

⁶او نمی دانست چه می گوید، چون بسیار ترسیده بودند.

⁷A cloud came, overshadowing them, and a voice came out of the cloud, “This is my beloved Son. Listen to him.”

⁷در آن وقت ابری ظاهر شد و بر آن ها سایه افگند. از آن ابر ندایی آمد که می گفت: «این است پسر محبوبم، به او گوش فرادهید.»

⁸Suddenly looking around, they saw no one with them any more, except Jesus only.

⁸آن ها فوراً به اطراف دیدند، اما هیچ کس را ندیدند، فقط عیسی با آنها بود.

⁹As they were coming down from the mountain, he commanded them that they should tell no one what things they had seen, until after the Son of Man had risen from the dead.

⁹وقتی آن ها از کوه پایین می آمدند، عیسی به ایشان امر کرد که دربارۀ آنچه دیده اند تا زمانی که پسر انسان پس از مرگ زنده نشود، به کسی چیزی نگویند.

¹⁰They kept this saying to themselves, questioning what the “rising from the dead” meant.

¹⁰آنها از این امر اطاعت کردند ولی در بین خود دربارۀ معنی «زنده شدن پس از مرگ» به بحث پرداختند.

¹¹They asked him, saying, “Why do the scribes say that Elijah must come first?”

¹¹آن ها از او پرسیدند: «چرا علمای دین می گویند که باید اول الیاس بیاید؟»

¹²He said to them, “Elijah indeed comes first, and restores all things. How is it written about the Son of Man, that he should suffer many things and be despised?

¹²عیسی جواب داد: «بلی، الیاس اول می آید تا همه چیز را آماده سازد، اما چرا نوشته شده است که پسر انسان باید رنج های بسیاری را کشیده خوار و حقیر شود؟

¹³ But I tell you that Elijah has come, and they have also done to him whatever they wanted to, even as it is written about him.”

¹³به شما می گویم همانطور که دربارۀ الیاس نوشته شده او آمد و مردم هرچه خواستند با او کردند.»

¹⁴Coming to the disciples, he saw a great multitude around them, and scribes questioning them.

¹⁴وقتی آن ها نزد دیگر شاگردان رسیدند جمعیت بزرگی را دیدند که دور آن ها ایستاده اند و علمای دین با ایشان مباحثه می کنند.

¹⁵Immediately all the multitude, when they saw him, were greatly amazed, and running to him greeted him.

¹⁵همین که جمعیت عیسی را دیدند با تعجب فراوان دوان دوان به استقبال او رفتند و به او سلام دادند.

¹⁶He asked the scribes, “What are you asking them?”

¹⁶عیسی از ایشان پرسید: «دربارۀ چه چیز با آن ها بحث می کنید؟»

¹⁷One of the multitude answered, “Teacher, I brought to you my son, who has a mute spirit;

¹⁷مردی از میان جمعیت گفت: «ای استاد، من پسرم را پیش تو آوردم. او گرفتار روح ناپاکی شده و نمی تواند حرف بزند.

¹⁸and wherever it seizes him, it throws him down, and he foams at the mouth, and grinds his teeth, and wastes away. I asked your disciples to cast it out, and they weren’t able.”

¹⁸در هر جا که روح به او حمله می کند او را به زمین می اندازد، دهانش کف می کند، دندان به هم می ساید و تمام بدنش خشک می شود. از شاگردان تو درخواست کردم آن را بیرون کنند اما نتوانستند.»

¹⁹He answered him, “Unbelieving generation, how long shall I be with you? How long shall I bear with you? Bring him to me.”

¹⁹عیسی به آن ها گفت: «شما چقدر بی ایمان هستید! تا به کی باید با شما باشم و تا چه وقت باید متحمل شما گردم؟ او را پیش من بیاورید.»

²⁰They brought him to him, and when he saw him, immediately the spirit convulsed him, and he fell on the ground, wallowing and foaming at the mouth.

²⁰آن ها آن پسر را پیش او آوردند. روح به محض این که عیسی را دید، پسر را دچار حمله سختی ساخت. پسر بر زمین افتاد و دهانش کف کرده و دست و پا می زد.

²¹He asked his father, “How long has it been since this has come to him?” He said, “From childhood.

²¹عیسی از پدر او پرسید: «چند وقت است که این حالت برای او پیش آمده؟» پدر جواب داد: «از طفلی،

²²Often it has cast him both into the fire and into the water, to destroy him. But if you can do anything, have compassion on us, and help us.”

²²بسیاری اوقات این روح او را در آب و آتش می انداخت بطوری که نزدیک بود او را تلف سازد. اما اگر برایت ممکن است به ما دلسوزی نموده کمک کن.»

²³Jesus said to him, “If you can believe, all things are possible to him who believes.”

²³عیسی فرمود: «اگر بتوانی ایمان بیاوری، برای کسی که ایمان دارد، همه چیز ممکن است.»

²⁴Immediately the father of the child cried out with tears, “I believe. Help my unbelief!”

²⁴آن پدر فوراً با صدای بلند گفت: «من ایمان دارم. مرا از بی ایمانی نجات ده.»

²⁵When Jesus saw that a multitude came running together, he rebuked the unclean spirit, saying to him, “You mute and deaf spirit, I command you, come out of him, and never enter him again!”

²⁵وقتی عیسی دید که مردم جمع می شوند با تندی به روح ناپاک فرمود: «ای روح کر و گنگ، به تو فرمان می دهم که از او بیرون بیایی و هیچ وقت به او داخل نشوی.»

²⁶Having cried out, and convulsed greatly, it came out of him. The boy became like one dead; so much that most of them said, “He is dead.”

²⁶آن روح نعره ای زد و پسر را به زمین زد و از او بیرون آمد و رنگ آن پسر مانند رنگ مرده شد، بطوری که عده ای می گفتند: «او مرده است.»

²⁷But Jesus took him by the hand, and raised him up; and he arose.

²⁷اما عیسی دستش را گرفت و او را بلند کرد و او سر پا ایستاد.

²⁸When he had come into the house, his disciples asked him privately, “Why couldn’t we cast it out?”

²⁸عیسی به خانه رفت و شاگردانش در خلوت از او پرسیدند: «چرا ما نتوانستیم آن روح را بیرون کنیم؟»

²⁹He said to them, “This kind can come out by nothing, except by prayer and fasting.”

²⁹عیسی فرمود: «برای بیرون کردن اینگونه ارواح، وسیله ای جز دعا وجود ندارد.»

³⁰They went out from there, and passed through Galilee. He didn’t want anyone to know it.

³⁰عیسی و شاگردان آن ناحیه را ترک کردند و از راه ولایت جلیل به سفر خود ادامه دادند. عیسی نمی خواست کسی بداند او کجا است

³¹For he was teaching his disciples, and said to them, “The Son of Man is being handed over to the hands of men, and they will kill him; and when he is killed, on the third day he will rise again.”

³¹زیرا به شاگردان خود تعلیم داده می گفت که پسر انسان به دست مردم تسلیم می شود و آنها او را خواهند کشت ولی سه روز بعد دوباره زنده خواهد شد.

³²But they didn’t understand the saying, and were afraid to ask him.

³²اما آن ها نمی فهمیدند چه می گوید و می ترسیدند از او چیزی بپرسند.

³³He came to Capernaum, and when he was in the house he asked them, “What were you arguing among yourselves on the way?”

³³آن ها به کپرناحوم آمدند و وقتی در منزل بودند عیسی از شاگردان پرسید: «بین راه دربارۀ چه چیزی مباحثه می کردید؟»

³⁴But they were silent, for they had disputed one with another on the way about who was the greatest.

³⁴آن ها خاموش ماندند، چون در بین راه صحبت ایشان بر سر این بود که در میان آن ها چه کسی بزرگتر است.

³⁵He sat down, and called the twelve; and he said to them, “If any man wants to be first, he shall be last of all, and servant of all.”

³⁵او نشست و دوازده حواری را پیش خود خواست و به ایشان فرمود: «اگر کسی می خواهد اول شود، باید خود را آخرین و غلام همه سازد.»

³⁶He took a little child, and set him in their midst. Taking him in his arms, he said to them,

³⁶سپس کودکی را گرفت و او را در برابر همه قرار داد و بعد او را در آغوش گرفته فرمود:

³⁷ “Whoever receives one such little child in my name, receives me, and whoever receives me, doesn’t receive me, but him who sent me.”

³⁷«هر که یکی از این کودکان را به نام من بپذیرد، مرا پذیرفته است و هرکه مرا بپذیرد، نه مرا، بلکه فرستندۀ مرا پذیرفته است.»

³⁸John said to him, “Teacher, we saw someone who doesn’t follow us casting out demons in your name; and we forbade him, because he doesn’t follow us.”

³⁸یوحنا عرض کرد: «ای استاد، ما مردی را دیدیم که ارواح ناپاک را با ذکر نام تو بیرون می کرد، اما چون از ما نبود، کوشش کردیم مانع او شویم.»

³⁹But Jesus said, “Don’t forbid him, for there is no one who will do a mighty work in my name, and be able quickly to speak evil of me.

³⁹عیسی فرمود: «مانع کار او نشوید، زیرا هرکه با ذکر نام من معجزه ای بکند، نمی تواند در همان دم از من بد بگوید.

⁴⁰ For whoever is not against us is on our side.

⁴⁰چون هرکه برضد ما نباشد با ماست.

⁴¹ For whoever will give you a cup of water to drink in my name, because you are Christ’s, most certainly I tell you, he will in no way lose his reward.

⁴¹بیقین بدانید هرکه به شما بخاطر اینکه پیروان مسیح هستید، جامی آب بدهد به هیچ وجه بی اجر نخواهد ماند.

⁴² Whoever will cause one of these little ones who believe in me to stumble, it would be better for him if he were thrown into the sea with a millstone hung around his neck.

⁴²اما هرکسی یکی از این کوچکان را که به من ایمان دارند گمراه سازد، برای او بهتر است که با سنگ آسیابی بدور گردنش به بحر انداخته شود.

⁴³ If your hand causes you to stumble, cut it off. It is better for you to enter into life maimed, rather than having your two hands to go into Gehenna, or, Hell into the unquenchable fire,

⁴³پس اگر دستت باعث گمراهی تو می شود، آن را ببر، زیرا بهتر است بدون دست به زندگی راه یابی از اینکه با دو دست به جهنم بیافتی یعنی به آتشی که خاموشی نمی پذیرد.[

⁴⁴ ‘where their worm doesn’t die, and the fire is not quenched.’

⁴⁴جایی که کرم ایشان نمیرد و آتش خاموش نشود.]

⁴⁵ If your foot causes you to stumble, cut it off. It is better for you to enter into life lame, rather than having your two feet to be cast into Gehenna, or, Hell into the fire that will never be quenched—

⁴⁵و اگر پایت تو را گمراه کند، آن را ببر زیرا بهتر است که لنگ به زندگی راه یابی از اینکه با دو پا به جهنم انداخته شوی.[

⁴⁶ ‘where their worm doesn’t die, and the fire is not quenched.’

⁴⁶جایی که کرم ایشان نمیرد و آتش خاموش نشود.]

⁴⁷ If your eye causes you to stumble, cast it out. It is better for you to enter into the Kingdom of God with one eye, rather than having two eyes to be cast into the Gehenna or, Hell of fire,

⁴⁷و اگر چشمت تو را منحرف سازد آن را بکش، زیرا بهتر است که با یک چشم وارد پادشاهی خدا شوی از این که با دو چشم به جهنم بیافتی

⁴⁸ ‘where their worm doesn’t die, and the fire is not quenched.’ Isaiah 66:24

⁴⁸جایی که کرم ایشان نمیرد و آتش خاموش نشود،

⁴⁹ For everyone will be salted with fire, and every sacrifice will be seasoned with salt.

⁴⁹چون همه با آتش نمکین می شوند.نمک چیز خوبی است، اما اگر مزۀ خود را از دست بدهد، دیگر به چه وسیله می تواند مزۀ خود را باز یابد؟ پس شما نیز در خود نمک داشته باشید و با یکدیگر در صلح و صفا زندگی کنید.»

⁵⁰ Salt is good, but if the salt has lost its saltiness, with what will you season it? Have salt in yourselves, and be at peace with one another.”

⁵⁰نمک چیز خوبی است، اما اگر مزۀ خود را از دست بدهد، دیگر به چه وسیله می تواند مزۀ خود را باز یابد؟ پس شما نیز در خود نمک داشته باشید و با یکدیگر در صلح و صفا زندگی کنید.»
