1The people were complaining in the ears of Yahweh. When Yahweh heard it, his anger was kindled; and Yahweh’s fire burnt among them, and consumed some of the outskirts of the camp.
1بزودی قوم اسرائیل بخاطر زحمات خود دست به شکایت زدند. وقتی خداوند آواز شکایت شان را شنید، غضبناک شد و آتش خداوند اطراف اردو را از بین برد.
2The people cried to Moses; and Moses prayed to Yahweh, and the fire abated.
2آنگاه مردم پیش موسی گریه و زاری نمودند و موسی بحضور خداوند برای شان دعا کرد و آتش خاموش گردید.
3The name of that place was called Taberah Taberah means “burning” , because Yahweh’s fire burnt among them.
3پس آنجا را تعبیره، (یعنی سوختن) نامیدند، زیرا در آنجا آتش خداوند در بین شان مشتعل شده بود.
4The mixed multitude that was among them lusted exceedingly: and the children of Israel also wept again, and said, “Who will give us flesh to eat?
4در بین قوم اسرائیل گروه مختلفی بودند که آرزوی خوردن چیزهای بهتری را داشتند و مردم اسرائیل هم دوباره شروع به گریه و شکایت نموده می گفتند: «ای کاش کسی به ما کمی گوشت می داد!
5We remember the fish, which we ate in Egypt for nothing; the cucumbers, and the melons, and the leeks, and the onions, and the garlic;
5بخاطر داریم که در مصر ماهی را رایگان می خوردیم و همچنان بادرنگ، خربوزه، تره، پیاز و سیر داشتیم.
6but now we have lost our appetite. There is nothing at all except this manna to look at.”
6اما حالا اشتهای خود را از دست داده ایم و بغیر از این مَنّا چیز دیگری نیست که بخوریم.»
7The manna was like coriander seed, and its appearance like the appearance of bdellium.
7مَنّا ماده ای بود به اندازۀ تخم گشنیز به رنگ سفید مایل به زردی.
8The people went around, gathered it, and ground it in mills, or beat it in mortars, and boiled it in pots, and made cakes of it. Its taste was like the taste of fresh oil.
8مردم اسرائیل می رفتند و آن را از روی زمین جمع می کردند و در هاوَن می کوبیدند و آرد می کردند و بعد از آن آرد نان می پختند. و مزۀ نان روغنی را داشت.
9When the dew fell on the camp in the night, the manna fell on it.
9مَنّا با شبنم شب یکجا می بارید.
10Moses heard the people weeping throughout their families, every man at the door of his tent; and the anger of Yahweh was kindled greatly; and Moses was displeased.
10موسی دید که خانواده های قوم اسرائیل پیش دروازۀ خیمه های خود نشسته گریه می کردند، و خشم خداوند به شدت افروخته گردید. موسی نیز از این موضوع بسیار ناراحت شد
11Moses said to Yahweh, “Why have you treated with your servant so badly? Why haven’t I found favor in your sight, that you lay the burden of all this people on me?
11و به خداوند گفت: «چرا با این بنده ات چنین رفتار می کنی؟ من چه کرده ام که از من ناراضی هستی؟ چرا بار این قوم را بدوش من گذاشته ای؟
12Have I conceived all this people? Have I brought them forth, that you should tell me, ‘Carry them in your bosom, as a nurse carries a nursing infant, to the land which you swore to their fathers?’
12آیا من آن ها را پیدا کرده ام و یا بدنیا آورده ام که می گوئی مانند دایه ای که طفل را در آغوش می گیرد آن ها را گرفته به سرزمینی ببرم که وعدۀ ملکیت آن را به اجداد شان داده بودی؟
13Where could I get meat to give to all this people? For they weep to me, saying, ‘Give us meat, that we may eat.’
13برای اینهمه مردم از کجا گوشت تهیه کنم؟ زیرا آن ها پیش من گریه می کنند و می گویند: «برای ما گوشت بده که بخوریم.»
14I am not able to bear all this people alone, because it is too heavy for me.
14من به تنهائی نمی توانم بار مسئولیت تمام این مردم را بدوش بگیرم. این بار برای من بسیار سنگین است.
15If you treat me this way, please kill me right now, if I have found favor in your sight; and don’t let me see my wretchedness.”
15اگر با من این چنین رفتار می نمائی، پس خواهش می کنم که مرا بکش تا از این بدبختی نجات یابم.»
16Yahweh said to Moses, “Gather to me seventy men of the elders of Israel, whom you know to be the elders of the people, and officers over them; and bring them to the Tent of Meeting, that they may stand there with you.
16خداوند به موسی فرمود: «هفتاد نفر از رهبران محترم قوم اسرائیل را جمع کن و پیش دروازۀ خیمۀ حضور خداوند بحضور من بیاور و در آنجا همراه تو بایستند.
17I will come down and talk with you there. I will take of the Spirit which is on you, and will put it on them; and they shall bear the burden of the people with you, that you not bear it yourself alone.
17آنگاه من نزول می کنم و با تو حرف می زنم و از روحی که به تو داده ام می گیرم و به آن ها می دهم تا در مسئولیت امور قوم با تو سهیم بوده تو تنها نباشی.
18“Say to the people, ‘Sanctify yourselves against tomorrow, and you will eat flesh; for you have wept in the ears of Yahweh, saying, “Who will give us flesh to eat? For it was well with us in Egypt.” Therefore Yahweh will give you flesh, and you will eat.
18به مردم اسرائیل بگو: «خود را برای فردا پاک و تقدیس کنید و به شما گوشت داده می شود که بخورید.» به آن ها بگو که خداوند نالۀ شما را شنید که می گفتید: «ای کاش کسی به ما گوشت می داد که می خوردیم. وقتی که در مصر بودیم وضع بهتری داشتیم.» بنابران خداوند به شما گوشت می دهد.
19You will not eat one day, nor two days, nor five days, neither ten days, nor twenty days,
19و شما نه برای یک روز، دو روز، پنج روز، ده روز یا بیست روز،
20but a whole month, until it come out at your nostrils, and it is loathsome to you; because that you have rejected Yahweh who is among you, and have wept before him, saying, “Why did we come out of Egypt?”’”
20بلکه برای یک ماهِ کامل آنقدر گوشت خواهید خورد که از دماغهای تان سر کند و از خوردن بیزار شوید، زیرا خدائی را که بین شما است رد کردید و افسوس خوردید که چرا از مصر خارج شدید.»
21Moses said, “The people, among whom I am, are six hundred thousand men on foot; and you have said, ‘I will give them flesh, that they may eat a whole month.’
21اما موسی گفت: «تنها تعداد مردمی که پیاده هستند ششصد هزار است، باز هم تو می گوئی که برای یک ماه کامل به آن ها گوشت می دهی.
22Shall flocks and herds be slaughtered for them, to be sufficient for them? Shall all the fish of the sea be gathered together for them, to be sufficient for them?”
22اگر ما همه رمه و گلۀ خود را بکشیم برای اینهمه مردم کفایت نمی کنند. یا اگر تمام ماهی های بحر را هم بگیریم امکان ندارد که همۀ این مردم را سیر کنیم.»
23Yahweh said to Moses, “Has Yahweh’s hand grown short? Now you will see whether my word will happen to you or not.”
23خداوند به موسی گفت: «آیا دست خداوند کوتاه است. حالا خواهی دید که حرف من راست است یا خیر؟»
24Moses went out, and told the people the words of Yahweh; and he gathered seventy men of the elders of the people, and set them around the Tent.
24پس موسی از خیمۀ حضور خداوند خارج شد و آنچه را که خداوند فرموده بود به مردم گفت. بعد هفتاد نفر از رهبران قوم را جمع کرد و آن ها را در اطراف خیمۀ حضور خداوند قرار داد.
25Yahweh came down in the cloud, and spoke to him, and took of the Spirit that was on him, and put it on the seventy elders: and it happened that when the Spirit rested on them, they prophesied, but they did so no more.
25آنگاه خداوند در ابر نازل شد و با موسی به سخن گفتن پرداخت و از روحی که بر موسی قرار داشت گرفت و بر آن هفتاد نفر رهبر گذاشت. بمجردیکه روح بر آن ها قرار گرفت به نبوت آغاز نمودند، اما بار دیگر نبوت نکردند.
26But two men remained in the camp. The name of one was Eldad, and the name of the other Medad: and the Spirit rested on them; and they were of those who were written, but had not gone out to the Tent; and they prophesied in the camp.
26دو نفر از آن ها بنامهای الداد و میداد در اردوگاه ماندند و به خیمۀ حضور خداوند نرفته بودند، اما روح بر آن ها هم قرار گرفت و در اردوگاه نبوت کردند.
27A young man ran, and told Moses, and said, “Eldad and Medad are prophesying in the camp!”
27یک مرد جوان دویده پیش موسی رفت و به او گفت: «الداد و میداد در اردوگاه نبوت می کنند.»
28Joshua the son of Nun, the servant of Moses, one of his chosen men, answered, “My lord Moses, forbid them!”
28یوشع، پسر نون که یکی از معاونین انتخابی موسی بود گفت: «آقای من، آن ها را منع کن.»
29Moses said to him, “Are you jealous for my sake? I wish that all Yahweh’s people were prophets, that Yahweh would put his Spirit on them!”
29اما موسی به او گفت: «آیا تو بجای من حسادت می ورزی؟ ای کاش خداوند روح خود را بر همۀ قوم برگزیدۀ خود قرار میداد تا همۀ آن ها نبی می شدند.»
30Moses went into the camp, he and the elders of Israel.
30بعد موسی با رهبران به اردوگاه برگشتند.
31A wind from Yahweh went out and brought quails from the sea, and let them fall by the camp, about a day’s journey on this side, and a day’s journey on the other side, around the camp, and about two cubits above the surface of the earth.
31به حکم خداوند بادی وزید و خیل های بودنه را از بحر با خود آورد و این پرنده ها اطراف اردوگاه را از هر طرف به مسافۀ یک روزه راه پیمائی و بلندی یک متر، زمین را پوشاند.
32The people rose up all that day, and all the night, and all the next day, and gathered the quails. He who gathered least gathered ten homers; 1 homer is about 220 litres or 6 bushels and they spread them all abroad for themselves around the camp.
32قوم اسرائیل تمام شب و روز و فردای آن، این پرنده ها را می گرفتند. هیچکسی کمتر از ده حومر جمع نکرده بود و مردم گوشت این پرندگان را در اطراف اردوگاه پهن کردند تا خشک شود.
33While the flesh was yet between their teeth, before it was chewed, the anger of Yahweh was kindled against the people, and Yahweh struck the people with a very great plague.
33اما هنوز گوشت در زیر دندان شان بود که آتش خشم خداوند بر قوم اسرائیل شعله ور شد و بلای مدهشی را بر آن ها نازل کرد و یک عدۀ آن ها را از بین بُرد.
34The name of that place was called Kibroth Hattaavah, Kibroth Hattaavah means “graves of lust.” because there they buried the people who lusted.
34بنابران، آنجا را «قِبروت هتاوه»، یعنی قبرستان حرص و طمع نامیدند، زیرا افرادی را که هوس گوشت کرده بودند در آنجا دفن نمودند.بعد قوم اسرائیل از قِبروت هتاوه حرکت کرده رهسپار حزیروت شدند و مدتی در آنجا توقف نمودند.
35From Kibroth Hattaavah the people traveled to Hazeroth; and they stayed at Hazeroth.
35بعد قوم اسرائیل از قِبروت هتاوه حرکت کرده رهسپار حزیروت شدند و مدتی در آنجا توقف نمودند.
