1The children of Israel, even the whole congregation, came into the wilderness of Zin in the first month: and the people stayed in Kadesh; and Miriam died there, and was buried there.
1در ماه اول سال، قوم اسرائیل به بیابان صین رسیدند و در قادِش خیمه زدند. در آنجا مریم فوت کرد و دفن شد.
2There was no water for the congregation: and they assembled themselves together against Moses and against Aaron.
2جائیکه اردو زده بودند آب نداشت، بنابران، مردم بدور موسی و هارون جمع شده
3The people strove with Moses, and spoke, saying, “We wish that we had died when our brothers died before Yahweh!
3لب به شکایت گشوده گفتند: «ای کاش ما هم با خویشاوندان اسرائیلی خود در حضور خداوند می مردیم.
4Why have you brought the assembly of Yahweh into this wilderness, that we should die there, we and our animals?
4چرا ما را در این بیابان آوردید تا با حیوانات خود در اینجا بمیریم؟
5Why have you made us to come up out of Egypt, to bring us in to this evil place? It is no place of seed, or of figs, or of vines, or of pomegranates; neither is there any water to drink.”
5چرا ما را از مصر به این بیابان خراب و بی علف آوردید؟ در اینجا نه غله است، نه انجیر، نه تاک و نه انار. در اینجا حتی آب هم برای نوشیدن نداریم.»
6Moses and Aaron went from the presence of the assembly to the door of the Tent of Meeting, and fell on their faces: and the glory of Yahweh appeared to them.
6موسی و هارون از مردم دور شدند و به پیش دروازۀ خیمۀ عبادت رفتند و در آنجا رو به خاک افتادند و حضور با شکوه خداوند بر آن ها ظاهر شد
7Yahweh spoke to Moses, saying,
7و به موسی فرمود: «عصا را از پیشروی صندوق پیمان بگیر. بعد تو و برادرت، هارون، قوم اسرائیل را جمع کنید و در پیش چشمان آن ها به این صخره بگو که آب خود را جاری سازد. آنوقت می توانید از آن صخره به مردم و حیوانات شان آب بدهید.»
8“Take the rod, and assemble the congregation, you, and Aaron your brother, and speak to the rock before their eyes, that it give forth its water; and you shall bring forth to them water out of the rock; so you shall give the congregation and their livestock drink.”
8پس موسی طوریکه خداوند فرموده بود عصا را از پیشروی صندوق پیمان برداشت.
9Moses took the rod from before Yahweh, as he commanded him.
9بعد او و هارون همۀ مردم را در پیش آن صخره جمع کردند و به آن ها گفت: «ای مردم مفسد بشنوید. آیا می خواهید که از این صخره برای تان آب بیرون بیاوریم؟»
10Moses and Aaron gathered the assembly together before the rock, and he said to them, “Hear now, you rebels; shall we bring you water out of this rock for you?”
10آنگاه موسی عصا را بلند کرد و دو مرتبه به صخره زد. دفعتاً آب فراوان جاری شد و همه مردم و حیوانات شان از آن نوشیدند.
11Moses lifted up his hand, and struck the rock with his rod twice: and water came forth abundantly, and the congregation drank, and their livestock.
11خداوند به موسی و هارون فرمود: «چون شما به من اعتماد نکردید و در پیش قوم اسرائیل به قدوسیت من احترام نگذاشتید، بنابران شما آن ها را به آن سرزمین موعود راهنمائی نمی کنید.»
12Yahweh said to Moses and Aaron, “Because you didn’t believe in me, to sanctify me in the eyes of the children of Israel, therefore you shall not bring this assembly into the land which I have given them.”
12پس آنجا را مریبه، (یعنی مشاجره) نامیدند، زیرا در آنجا بود که بنی اسرائیل با خداوند مشاجره کردند و در همانجا خداوند قدوسیت خود را به مردم ظاهر ساخت.
13These are the waters of Meribah; because the children of Israel strove with Yahweh, and he was sanctified in them.
13موسی قاصدانی را از قادِش با این پیام پیش پادشاه ادوم فرستاد: «ما خویشاوندان تو و اولادۀ اسرائیل هستیم. تو می دانی که ما چقدر زحمات و مشقات را متحمل شدیم.
14Moses sent messengers from Kadesh to the king of Edom, saying: “Thus says your brother Israel: You know all the travail that has happened to us:
14چطور پدران ما به مصر رفتند و سالیان درازی در آنجا زندگی کردند و مردم مصر با پدران ما رفتار ظالمانه ای داشتند.
15how our fathers went down into Egypt, and we lived in Egypt a long time; and the Egyptians dealt ill with us, and our fathers:
15وقتی بحضور خداوند فریاد و زاری نمودیم، او فریاد ما را شنید و فرشته ای را فرستاد و ما را از مصر بیرون آورد. حالا در قادِش که در نزدیکی سرحد کشور تو است خیمه زده ایم.
16and when we cried to Yahweh, he heard our voice, and sent an angel, and brought us forth out of Egypt: and behold, we are in Kadesh, a city in the uttermost of your border.
16پس از تو خواهش می کنیم به ما اجازه بدهی که از داخل کشورت عبور کنیم. ما در کشتزارها و تاکستان های شما داخل نمی شویم و از چاه های تان آب نمی نوشیم، بلکه از شاهراه به سفر خود ادامه می دهیم و تا از قلمرو تو خارج نشویم از شاهراه پای بیرون نمی گذاریم.»
17“Please let us pass through your land: we will not pass through field or through vineyard, neither will we drink of the water of the wells: we will go along the king’s highway; we will not turn aside to the right hand nor to the left, until we have passed your border.”
17اما پادشاه ادوم گفت: «شما نمی توانید از اینجا عبور کنید و اگر بخواهید که به کشور ما داخل شوید با شمشیر به مقابلۀ تان می آئیم.»
18Edom said to him, “You shall not pass through me, lest I come out with the sword against you.”
18قاصدان اسرائیلی به او گفتند: «ما فقط از شاهراه می رویم و اگر ما یا حیوانات ما از آب شما بنوشیم قیمت آب را می پردازیم. تنها چیزی که از تو می خواهیم اینست که به ما اجازۀ عبور را بدهی.»
19The children of Israel said to him, “We will go up by the highway; and if we drink of your water, I and my livestock, then will I give its price: let me only, without doing anything else, pass through on my feet.”
19پادشاه ادوم گفت: «شما حق عبور از خاک ما را ندارید.» آنگاه ادوم با لشکر عظیم خود به مقابلۀ بنی اسرائیل آمد.
20He said, “You shall not pass through.” Edom came out against him with many people, and with a strong hand.
20وقتی قوم اسرائیل دیدند که ادومیان به آن ها اجازۀ عبور را ندادند، ناچار از راه دیگری به سفر خود ادامه دادند.
21Thus Edom refused to give Israel passage through his border, so Israel turned away from him.
21بنی اسرائیل از قادِش حرکت کردند و به کوه هور در سرحد ادوم رسیدند. در آنجا خداوند به هارون و موسی فرمود:
22They traveled from Kadesh: and the children of Israel, even the whole congregation, came to Mount Hor.
22«هارون با اجداد خود می پیوندد و به سرزمین موعود داخل نمی شود، زیرا که هردوی شما در پیش چشمۀ مریبه از امر من اطاعت نکردید.
23Yahweh spoke to Moses and Aaron in Mount Hor, by the border of the land of Edom, saying,
23پس حالا هارون و پسرش، اَلِعازار را گرفته بر کوه هور ببر.
24“Aaron shall be gathered to his people; for he shall not enter into the land which I have given to the children of Israel, because you rebelled against my word at the waters of Meribah.
24در آنجا لباس کاهنی را از تن هارون برآور و به تن پسرش، اَلِعازار کن. هارون در همانجا می میرد و با اجداد خود می پیوندد.»
25Take Aaron and Eleazar his son, and bring them up to Mount Hor;
25موسی مطابق امر خداوند رفتار کرد و در حالیکه همۀ مردم اسرائیل تماشا می کردند آن سه نفر به بالای کوه هور رفتند.
26and strip Aaron of his garments, and put them on Eleazar his son: and Aaron shall be taken, and shall die there.”
26در آنجا موسی لباس کاهنی را از تن هارون بیرون کرد و به پسرش، اَلِعازار پوشاند. هارون در بالای همان کوه جان سپرد و موسی و اَلِعازار از کوه پائین شدند.وقتی بنی اسرائیل از مرگ هارون خبر شدند، مدت سی روز بخاطر او ماتم گرفتند.
27Moses did as Yahweh commanded: and they went up into Mount Hor in the sight of all the congregation.
27وقتی بنی اسرائیل از مرگ هارون خبر شدند، مدت سی روز بخاطر او ماتم گرفتند.
28Moses stripped Aaron of his garments, and put them on Eleazar his son; and Aaron died there on the top of the mountain: and Moses and Eleazar came down from the mountain.
29When all the congregation saw that Aaron was dead, they wept for Aaron thirty days, even all the house of Israel.
