¹از طرف پولُس و تیموتاوس ـ غلامان مسیح عیسی ـ به همۀ مقدسین شهر فیلپی که در مسیح عیسی هستند و رهبران و خادمان آن ها.

²Grace to you, and peace from God, our Father, and the Lord Jesus Christ.

²از طرف خدای پدر و عیسی مسیح خداوند فیض و سلامتی به شما باد.

³I thank my God whenever I remember you,

³هر وقت که شما را به یاد می آورم خدا را شکر می کنم؛

⁴always in every request of mine on behalf of you all making my requests with joy,

⁴و در تمام دعاهایم نام شما را با شادمانی ذکر می کنم

⁵for your partnership The word translated “partnership” (koinonia) also means “fellowship” and “sharing.” in furtherance of the Good News from the first day until now;

⁵و به خاطر همکاری شما در انتشار انجیل که از اولین روز شنیدن آن تا به حال ادامه دارد، خدا را سپاس می گویم.

⁶being confident of this very thing, that he who began a good work in you will complete it until the day of Jesus Christ.

⁶من اطمینان دارم آن خدایی که در شما کار نیکویی شروع کرد، تا روز عیسی مسیح، آن را به کمال می رساند.

⁷It is even right for me to think this way on behalf of all of you, because I have you in my heart, because, both in my bonds and in the defense and confirmation of the Good News, you all are partakers with me of grace.

⁷من حق دارم که دربارۀ شما چنین احساسی داشته باشم، زیرا همیشه شما در دل من هستید و من چه در زندان و چه به دفاع و پشتیبانی از انجیل مشغول باشم، شما را شریکان خود در فیض خدا می دانم.

⁸For God is my witness, how I long after all of you in the tender mercies of Christ Jesus.

⁸خدا شاهد است که تا چه اندازه با احساسات گرمی که مسیح عیسی در من ایجاد کرده است، آرزوی دیدن شما را دارم

⁹This I pray, that your love may abound yet more and more in knowledge and all discernment;

⁹و دعایم این است که محبت شما همراه با آگاهی و کمال دانایی همچنان رشد کند،

¹⁰so that you may approve the things that are excellent; that you may be sincere and without offense to the day of Christ;

¹⁰تا همه چیز را بیازمائید و عالیترین آن ها را انتخاب کنید. آن وقت در روز بزرگ مسیح بی عیب و بی تقصیر خواهید بود.

¹¹being filled with the fruits of righteousness, which are through Jesus Christ, to the glory and praise of God.

¹¹همچنین دعا می کنم که زندگی شما از ثمرات عدالت که به وسیلۀ عیسی مسیح به دست می آید و برای جلال و ستایش خداست، پُر گردد.

¹²Now I desire to have you know, brothers, The word for “brothers” here and where context allows may also be correctly translated “brothers and sisters” or “siblings.” that the things which happened to me have turned out rather to the progress of the Good News;

¹²ای برادران، می خواهم بدانید که آنچه به سر من آمده است در واقع به پیشرفت انجیل کمک کرده است،

¹³so that it became evident to the whole palace or, praetorian guard, and to all the rest, that my bonds are in Christ;

¹³تا آنجا که تمام اعضای گارد امپراطوری و دیگران نیز می دانند که من در خدمت مسیح و به خاطر او زندانی شده ام.

¹⁴and that most of the brothers in the Lord, being confident through my bonds, are more abundantly bold to speak the word of God without fear.

¹⁴و از طرف دیگر بسیاری برادران مسیحی به سبب حبس من به قدری قویدل شده اند که جرأت می کنند پیام خدا را بدون ترس اعلام کنند.

¹⁵Some indeed preach Christ even out of envy and strife, and some also out of good will.

¹⁵البته بعضی ها، از روی حسادت و رقابت، به مسیح بشارت می دهند، ولی دیگران این کار را با حُسنِ نیت انجام می دهند.

¹⁶The former insincerely preach Christ from selfish ambition, thinking that they add affliction to my chains;

¹⁶اینها از روی محبت چنین می کنند، زیرا می دانند که من به جهت دفاع از انجیل در اینجا افتاده ام.

¹⁷but the latter out of love, knowing that I am appointed for the defense of the Good News.

¹⁷ولی آن ها از روی هم چشمی به مسیح بشارت می دهند، نه از روی صمیمیت، زیرا گمان می کنند از این راه می توانند بار زحمت مرا در زندان سنگین تر سازند.

¹⁸What does it matter? Only that in every way, whether in pretense or in truth, Christ is proclaimed. I rejoice in this, yes, and will rejoice.

¹⁸چه اهمیت دارد؟ از هر راهی باشد، خواه از روی نیت درست یا نادرست، مسیح به مردم اعلام می شود و این امر برای من مایۀ خوشی است. بلی، من شاد هستم و همچنان خوشی خواهم کرد،

¹⁹For I know that this will turn out to my salvation, through your supplication and the supply of the Spirit of Jesus Christ,

¹⁹زیرا می دانم که به وسیلۀ دعاهای شما و به یاری روح عیسی مسیح، این امر به نجات من تمام خواهد شد.

²⁰according to my earnest expectation and hope, that I will in no way be disappointed, but with all boldness, as always, now also Christ will be magnified in my body, whether by life, or by death.

²⁰زیرا انتظار زیاد و امید من این است که در هیچ چیز خجالت نکشم، بلکه حالا با دلیری کامل مانند همیشه مسیح را در وجود خود جلال دهم ـ خواه با مرگ من باشد خواه با زندگی من.

²¹For to me to live is Christ, and to die is gain.

²¹زیرا مقصود من از زندگی، مسیح است و مردن نیز به نفع من تمام می شود.

²²But if I live on in the flesh, this will bring fruit from my work; yet I don’t know what I will choose.

²²اما اگر با زنده ماندن بتوانم کار ارزنده ای انجام دهم، من نمی دانم کدام را انتخاب کنم.

²³But I am in a dilemma between the two, having the desire to depart and be with Christ, which is far better.

²³بین دو راهی گیر آمده ام، آرزو دارم که این زندگی را ترک کنم و با مسیح باشم که خیلی بهتر است،

²⁴Yet, to remain in the flesh is more needful for your sake.

²⁴اما به خاطر شما زنده ماندن من لازم تر است.

²⁵Having this confidence, I know that I will remain, yes, and remain with you all, for your progress and joy in the faith,

²⁵با چنین اعتمادی یقین دارم که زنده خواهم ماند و برای پیشرفت و شادمانی شما در ایمان با شما خواهم بود؛

²⁶that your rejoicing may abound in Christ Jesus in me through my presence with you again.

²⁶تا به وسیلۀ آمدن دوباره من دلایل افتخار شما به من در مسیح عیسی زیادتر گردد.

²⁷Only let your way of life be worthy of the Good News of Christ, that, whether I come and see you or am absent, I may hear of your state, that you stand firm in one spirit, with one soul striving for the faith of the Good News;

²⁷به هر حال، طوری زندگی کنید که رفتار شما شایستۀ انجیل مسیح باشد و من چه بیایم و شما را ببینم و چه نیایم، می خواهم دربارۀ شما بشنوم که در یگانگی روح پابرجا هستید و با همآهنگی پیوسته دست به دست یکدیگر داده به خاطر ایمان انجیل تلاش می کنید.

²⁸and in nothing frightened by the adversaries, which is for them a proof of destruction, but to you of salvation, and that from God.

²⁸به هیچ وجه از مخالفین نترسید، زیرا این دلیری شما، به آن ها ثابت می کند که به سوی هلاکت می روند و شما نجات خواهید یافت و آن هم از طرف خداست.

²⁹Because it has been granted to you on behalf of Christ, not only to believe in him, but also to suffer on his behalf,

²⁹چون این امتیاز به شما عطا شده است که نه تنها به مسیح ایمان آورید، بلکه به خاطر او نیز رنج و زحمت ببینید،زیرا شما نیز به همان مبارزه ای داخل شده اید که من داشتم و شما ناظر آن بودید و اطلاع دارید که هنوز هم گرفتار آن هستم.

³⁰having the same conflict which you saw in me, and now hear is in me.

³⁰زیرا شما نیز به همان مبارزه ای داخل شده اید که من داشتم و شما ناظر آن بودید و اطلاع دارید که هنوز هم گرفتار آن هستم.
