²تا وقتی که قدرت به دست اشخاص نیک باشد، مردم خوشحال هستند، ولی اگر قدرت به دست افراد بد افتد، مردم می نالند.

³Whoever loves wisdom brings joy to his father; but a companion of prostitutes squanders his wealth.

³پسر عاقل پدر خود را خوشحال می سازد، اما پسری که بدنبال زنان بدکار می رود، دارائی او را برباد می دهد.

⁴The king by justice makes the land stable, but he who takes bribes tears it down.

⁴پادشاه عادل به کشور خود ثبات می بخشد، ولی آنکه رشوت می گیرد، مملکت خود را نابود می سازد.

⁶An evil man is snared by his sin, but the righteous can sing and be glad.

⁸شخص احمقی که دیگران را مسخره می کند، شهری را به آشوب می آورد، اما آدم دانا خشم را فرو می نشاند.

⁹If a wise man goes to court with a foolish man, the fool rages or scoffs, and there is no peace.

⁹وقتی یک آدم عاقل با یک شخص احمق به محکمه می رود، مرد احمق خشمگین می شود و او را مسخره می کند و کار بجائی نمی رسد.

¹⁰The bloodthirsty hate a man of integrity; and they seek the life of the upright.

¹⁰اشخاص خون آشام از افراد راستکار متنفرند و قصد جانشان را دارند.

¹⁵برای تربیۀ کودکان چوب و‎ ‎تأديب لازم است، اگر او را آزاد گذاری و سرزنش نکنی، باعث شرمندگی مادر خود می شود.

¹⁶وقتی اشخاص بدکار به قدرت می رسند، فساد زیاد می شود. اما مردم راستکار سقوط آن ها را بچشم خواهند دید.

¹⁷فرزندت را تأدیب کن تا باعث خوشی و آرامش تو گردد.

²⁴کسی که با دزد همدست می شود، به جان خود دشمنی می کند، اگر در محکمه حقیقت را بگوید، مجازات خواهد شد و اگر حقیقت را نگوید، خدا او را لعنت می ‌کند.

²⁵کسی که از انسان می ترسد در دام می افتد، اما هرکه بر خدا توکل می کند، در امان می ماند.
