¹My son, keep my words. Lay up my commandments within you.

¹فرزندم، هر چه می گویم به خاطر بسپار و هرگز فراموش نکن

²Keep my commandments and live! Guard my teaching as the apple of your eye.

²هر چه می گویم، انجام بده تا زنده بمانی. تعلیمات مرا مانند مردمک چشم خود محافظت کن.

³Bind them on your fingers. Write them on the tablet of your heart.

³آن ها را آویزۀ گوش خود ساز و بر لوح دلت نقش کن.

⁴Tell wisdom, “You are my sister.” Call understanding your relative,

⁴حکمت را خواهر خود محسوب کن و دانش را مانند نزدیکترین دوست خود بدان.

⁵that they may keep you from the strange woman, from the foreigner who flatters with her words.

⁵آن ها تو را از زن شوهردار و از سخنان تملق آمیز آن ها دور می کند.

⁶For at the window of my house, I looked out through my lattice.

⁶یک روز از پنجره اطاقم به بیرون نگاه می کردم.

⁷I saw among the simple ones. I discerned among the youths a young man void of understanding,

⁷در بین جوانان بی تجربه، جوان احمقی را دیدم که در موقع تاریک شدن هوا، در کوچه ای به طرف خانۀ زنی می رفت.

⁸passing through the street near her corner, he went the way to her house,

⁸آن زن به طرف او آمد. لباس زنان هرزه را پوشیده بود و نقشه های پلیدی در سر داشت.

⁹in the twilight, in the evening of the day, in the middle of the night and in the darkness.

⁹زن گستاخ و بی حیائی بود. از آن زنهائی که همیشه در جاده ها گردش می کنند و یا در گوشۀ سرکها و کوچه و بازارها می ایستند.

¹⁰دست های خود را به گردن آن جوان انداخت او را بوسید و با نگاهی شرم آور گفت:

¹¹«امروز نذر خود را داده و قربانی کرده ام و از گوشت آن غذا پخته ام.

¹²Now she is in the streets, now in the squares, and lurking at every corner.

¹²اکنون به دنبال تو می گشتم تا تو را پیدا کنم و حالا یافتمت.

¹³So she caught him, and kissed him. With an impudent face she said to him:

¹³رختخواب خود را با پارچه های ابریشمی رنگارنگ مصری پوشانیده ام

¹⁴“Sacrifices of peace offerings are with me. This day I have paid my vows.

¹⁴و با بهترین عطرهای خوشبو آن را معطر کرده ام.

¹⁵Therefore I came out to meet you, to diligently seek your face, and I have found you.

¹⁵بیا برویم تا صبح عشقبازی کنیم و در آغوش هم لذت ببریم،

¹⁶I have spread my couch with carpets of tapestry, with striped cloths of the yarn of Egypt.

¹⁶شوهرم در خانه نیست و به سفر درازی رفته است.

¹⁷پول زیادی با خود برده و تا دو هفته دیگر بر نمی گردد.»

¹⁸Come, let’s take our fill of loving until the morning. Let’s solace ourselves with loving.

¹⁸سرانجام با زبان چرب و نرم و با چاپلوسی او را فریب داد.

²⁰و مانند آهویی که خرامان به سوی دام پیش می رود تا تیری به قلبش زده شود و مانند پرنده ای که به داخل دام می پرد، به دنبال آن زن به راه افتاد و نمی دانست که زندگی او در خطر است.

²¹With persuasive words, she led him astray. With the flattering of her lips, she seduced him.

²¹پس ای پسران من، توجه کنید و به سخنان من گوش بدهید:

²²He followed her immediately, as an ox goes to the slaughter, as a fool stepping into a noose.

²²نگذارید چنین زنی قلب شما را اسیر کند. به دنبال او نروید.

²³Until an arrow strikes through his liver, as a bird hurries to the snare, and doesn’t know that it will cost his life.

²³او مردان زیادی را بیچاره کرده و عدۀ بی شماری را به سوی مرگ کشانده است.اگر به خانۀ چنین زنانی بروی، در راه جهنم هستی و این راه، کوتاهترین راه به سوی مرگ و نابودی است.

²⁴Now therefore, sons, listen to me. Pay attention to the words of my mouth.

²⁵Don’t let your heart turn to her ways. Don’t go astray in her paths,

²⁶for she has thrown down many wounded. Yes, all her slain are a mighty army.

²⁷Her house is the way to Sheol Sheol is the place of the dead. , going down to the rooms of death.
