¹One of the seven angels who had the seven bowls came and spoke with me, saying, “Come here. I will show you the judgment of the great prostitute who sits on many waters,

¹آنگاه یکی از آن هفت فرشته ای که جام به دست داشتند آمد و با من صحبت کرد. او گفت: «بیا، تا مجازات آن فاحشۀ بزرگ را که در کنار دریا های بسیار قرار دارد به تو نشان دهم.

²with whom the kings of the earth committed sexual immorality, and those who dwell in the earth were made drunken with the wine of her sexual immorality.”

²پادشاهان زمین با او زنا کرده اند و مردم سراسر جهان از نوشیدن شراب زناکاری او خود را مست ساخته اند.»

³He carried me away in the Spirit into a wilderness. I saw a woman sitting on a scarlet-colored animal, full of blasphemous names, having seven heads and ten horns.

³و آن فرشته مرا در روح به بیابان بُرد و در آنجا زنی را دیدم که بر حیوان وحشی سرخ رنگی سوار بود. بدن این حیوان از نام های کفرآمیز پوشیده و دارای هفت سر و ده شاخ بود.

⁴The woman was dressed in purple and scarlet, and decked with gold and precious stones and pearls, having in her hand a golden cup full of abominations and the impurities of the sexual immorality of the earth.

⁴آن زن لباس ارغوانی و سرخ در بر داشت و با طلا و جواهرات و مروارید آراسته شده بود. او در دست خود جام طلایی داشت که از فجور و کثافات زنای او پُر بود.

⁵And on her forehead a name was written, “MYSTERY, BABYLON THE GREAT, THE MOTHER OF THE PROSTITUTES AND OF THE ABOMINATIONS OF THE EARTH.”

⁵بر پیشانی اش این اسم مرموز نوشته شده بود: «بابِل بزرگ، مادر فواحش و تمام کثافات روی زمین.»

⁶I saw the woman drunken with the blood of the saints, and with the blood of the martyrs of Jesus. When I saw her, I wondered with great amazement.

⁶من دیدم که آن زن از خون مقدسین و خون شاهدان عیسی سرمست بود. همین که به او نگاه کردم، سخت در شگفت شدم.

⁷The angel said to me, “Why do you wonder? I will tell you the mystery of the woman, and of the beast that carries her, which has the seven heads and the ten horns.

⁷اما آن فرشته به من گفت: «چرا اینقدر تعجب کردی؟ من راز آن زن و راز آن حیوان وحشی را که دارای هفت سر و ده شاخ است و او بر آن سوار است به تو می گویم.

⁸The beast that you saw was, and is not; and is about to come up out of the abyss and to go into destruction. Those who dwell on the earth and whose names have not been written in the book of life from the foundation of the world will marvel when they see that the beast was, and is not, and shall be present. TR reads “yet is” instead of “shall be present”

⁸آن حیوان که زمانی زنده بود و دیگر زنده نیست، بزودی از چاه بی انتها بیرون می آید و به سوی هلاکت خواهد رفت. از میان مردمان روی زمین آنانی که نام های شان پیش از پیدایش دنیا در کتاب زندگی نوشته نشده بود، از دیدن این حیوان تعجب خواهند کرد، زیرا او زنده بود ولی دیگر زنده نیست اما بازهم خواهد آمد.

⁹Here is the mind that has wisdom. The seven heads are seven mountains, on which the woman sits.

⁹این به حکمت و فهم نیاز دارد. آن هفت سر، هفت تپه ای است که زن بر آن می نشیند و همچنین هفت پادشاه است

¹⁰They are seven kings. Five have fallen, the one is, the other has not yet come. When he comes, he must continue a little while.

¹⁰که پنج نفر از آن ها از سلطنت بر کنار شده اند و یکی هم اکنون فرمانروایی می کند، و آن هفتمی هنوز نیامده است و هر وقت بیاید، فقط مدت کوتاهی دوام خواهد آورد.

¹¹The beast that was, and is not, is himself also an eighth, and is of the seven; and he goes to destruction.

¹¹اما آن حیوان وحشی که زمانی زنده بود و دیگر زنده نیست، هشتمی است و با وجود آن، یکی از آن هفت نفر می باشد و به سوی هلاکت می رود.

¹²The ten horns that you saw are ten kings who have received no kingdom as yet, but they receive authority as kings, with the beast, for one hour.

¹²ده شاخی که دیدی، ده پادشاه هستند که هنوز به سلطنت نرسیده اند، اما به آنها اختیار داده می شود که به مدت یک ساعت در سلطنت آن حیوان وحشی حصه داشته باشند.

¹³These have one mind, and they give their power and authority to the beast.

¹³زیرا هدف همۀ آن ها یکی است و قدرت و اختیارات خود را به حیوان وحشی می بخشند.

¹⁴These will war against the Lamb, and the Lamb will overcome them, for he is Lord of lords, and King of kings. They also will overcome who are with him, called and chosen and faithful.”

¹⁴آن ها با بره جنگ خواهند کرد، اما بره پیروز خواهد شد، زیرا اوست خداوندِ خداوندان و شاهِ شاهان و همراهان او که «برگزیده و وفادار» خوانده شده اند، در پیروزی او شریک خواهند بود.»

¹⁵He said to me, “The waters which you saw, where the prostitute sits, are peoples, multitudes, nations, and languages.

¹⁵آنگاه آن فرشته به من گفت: «در جایی که فاحشه ساکن است، آن آب هایی که دیدی نشانۀ قوم ها و جمعیت ها و ملتها و زبانها می باشند.

¹⁶The ten horns which you saw, and the beast, these will hate the prostitute, and will make her desolate, and will make her naked, and will eat her flesh, and will burn her utterly with fire.

¹⁶آن ده شاخی را که دیدی، با آن حیوان وحشی دشمن فاحشه خواهند شد و او را عریان و ویران خواهند ساخت. گوشت تنش را خواهند خورد و او را در آتش خواهند سوزانید.

¹⁷For God has put in their hearts to do what he has in mind, and to be of one mind, and to give their kingdom to the beast, until the words of God should be accomplished.

¹⁷زیرا خدا در دل های آن ها نهاده که خواست او را اجرا نمایند. پس هم رأی شدند و سلطنت خود را در اختیار حیوان وحشی قرار دادند تا آنچه خدا فرموده است، به کمال رسانند.آن زنی را که دیدی، همان شهر بزرگ است که بر پادشاهان دنیا تسلط دارد.»

¹⁸The woman whom you saw is the great city, which reigns over the kings of the earth.”
