1But I say that so long as the heir is a child, he is no different from a bondservant, though he is lord of all;
1Atah wayen i bɣiɣ a t-id-iniɣ : qqaṛeɣ-awen skud win ara iweṛten mazal-it meẓẓi, ur yemxalaf ara nețța d win yellan d akli, ɣas akken d nețța ara yuɣalen d bab n kullec ;
2but is under guardians and stewards until the day appointed by the father.
2lameɛna ilaq-as ad yaɣ awal i wid ițelhayen yid-es, iseddayen lecɣal-is, alamma yessaweḍ leɛmeṛ akken i d-iweṣṣa baba-s.
3So we also, when we were children, were held in bondage under the elemental principles of the world.
3Akken daɣen ula d nukni asmi nella meẓẓiyit, nɛac seddaw leḥkum n leqwanen n ddunit,
4But when the fullness of the time came, God sent out his Son, born to a woman, born under the law,
4meɛna asmi i d-yewweḍ lweqt i ɣ-iweɛɛed Sidi Ṛebbi, iceggeɛ-ed Mmi-s i d-ilulen si tmeṭṭut, iɛac seddaw leḥkum n ccariɛa,
5that he might redeem those who were under the law, that we might receive the adoption of children.
5iwakken a d-ifdu wid yellan seddaw leḥkum n ccariɛa, iwakken a nuɣal d arraw-is.
6And because you are children, God sent out the Spirit of his Son into your hearts, crying, “Abba, Abba is a Greek spelling for the Aramaic word for “Father” or “Daddy” used in a familiar, respectful, and loving way. Father!”
6Tura imi nuɣal d arraw n Sidi Ṛebbi, ifka-yaɣ-d ɣer wulawen-nneɣ Ṛṛuḥ n Mmi-s s wayes i nessawal i Ṛebbi : « Abba » ! Yeɛni : a Baba !
7So you are no longer a bondservant, but a son; and if a son, then an heir of God through Christ.
7S wakka, ikkes fell-awen uzaglu n tkelwa, tuɣalem seg warraw-is ; ma tellam seg warraw-is, d kunwi ara iweṛten ayen i wen-iwɛed Sidi Ṛebbi s ṛṛeḥma-ines.
8However at that time, not knowing God, you were in bondage to those who by nature are not gods.
8Zik-nni ur tessinem ara Ṛebbi yerna tețɛebbidem lemqamat d ssadaț deg umkan n Ṛebbi.
9But now that you have come to know God, or rather to be known by God, why do you turn back again to the weak and miserable elemental principles, to which you desire to be in bondage all over again?
9Lameɛna tura mi tessnem Ṛebbi, yerna nețța iḥseb ikkun d arraw-is, amek armi tebɣam aț-țuɣalem ɣer lɛaddat n zik ur nesɛi lmeɛna iwakken aț-țilim seddaw uzaglu-nsent ?
10You observe days, months, seasons, and years.
10Tețțakem lqima i leɛyudat n kra wussan, kra wagguren, kra lewqat d kra yiseggasen !
11I am afraid for you, that I might have wasted my labor for you.
11Uggadeɣ ayen i nɛețțabeɣ akk fell-awen iṛuḥ baṭel.
12I beg you, brothers, become as I am, for I also have become as you are. You did me no wrong,
12Ay atmaten di leɛnaya-nwen, uɣalet am nekkini, imi ula d nekk lliɣ am kunwi. Ur iyi-texdimem acemma n diri.
13but you know that because of weakness of the flesh I preached the Good News to you the first time.
13Ur tecfim ara belli d lehlak i yi-ṭṭfen ɣuṛ-wen mi wen-beccṛeɣ lexbaṛ n lxiṛ ass amezwaru.
14That which was a temptation to you in my flesh, you didn’t despise nor reject; but you received me as an angel of God, even as Christ Jesus.
14?as akken lehlak-iw yeɛfen, ur teɛyim deg-i, ur iyi-teḥqiṛem, lameɛna telham yis-i am akken d lmelk n Sidi Ṛebbi neɣ d Ɛisa Lmasiḥ s yiman-is i lliɣ.
15What was the blessing you enjoyed? For I testify to you that, if possible, you would have plucked out your eyes and given them to me.
15Anda-t lfeṛḥ-nni-nwen n zik ? Acu i gedṛan yid-wen ? Zemreɣ ad cehdeɣ fell-awen belli, lemmer d ayen iwumi tzemrem a t-txedmem, tili tekksem-d allen-nwen iwakken a yi-tent-id-tefkem.
16So then, have I become your enemy by telling you the truth?
16Eɛni uɣaleɣ awen tura d aɛdaw imi i wen-d qqaṛeɣ tideț ?
17They zealously seek you in no good way. No, they desire to alienate you, that you may seek them.
17Imdanen-agi țbegginen-awen-d belli ḥemmlen-kkun, lameɛna nutni ččuṛen ț-țiḥila ; bɣan kan a kkun sbeɛden fell-i iwakken a ten-tettebɛem nutni.
18But it is always good to be zealous in a good cause, and not only when I am present with you.
18Yelha ma ixeddem yiwen lxiṛ, mačči kan m'ara iliɣ gar-awen lameɛna di mkul lweqt.
19My little children, of whom I am again in travail until Christ is formed in you—
19Ay arraw-iw, aql-i nɛețțabeɣ tura daɣen ɣef ddemma-nwen am tmeṭṭut yeṭṭfen addud, alamma iban-ed Lmasiḥ deg-wen.
20but I could wish to be present with you now, and to change my tone, for I am perplexed about you.
20Acḥal mennaɣ ad iliɣ gar-awen di teswiɛt-agi i wakken a wen-d mmeslayeɣ akken nniḍen, axaṭer aql-iyi tḥeyyṛeɣ ɣef ddemma-nwen.
21Tell me, you that desire to be under the law, don’t you listen to the law?
21Init-iyi-d, kunwi yebɣan aț-țilim seddaw leḥkum n ccariɛa, eɛni ur teslim ara i wayen i d-teqqaṛ ccariɛa ?
22For it is written that Abraham had two sons, one by the handmaid, and one by the free woman.
22Atah wayen i d-teqqaṛ : Sidna Ibṛahim yesɛa sin warraw-is, yiwen seg Haǧiṛa yellan ț-țaklit, wayeḍ seg Saṛa yellan ț-țaḥeṛṛit.
23However, the son by the handmaid was born according to the flesh, but the son by the free woman was born through promise.
23Lameɛna mmi-s n taklit-nni, ilul-ed s lebɣi n wemdan, ma d mmi-s n tḥeṛṛit-nni, ilul-ed ɣef ddemma n lemɛahda n Sidi Ṛebbi.
24These things contain an allegory, for these are two covenants. One is from Mount Sinai, bearing children to bondage, which is Hagar.
24Taqsiṭ-agi tesɛa lmeɛna nniḍen : snat n tilawin-agi țusemmant d sin leɛqud : yiwen n leɛqed d win n wedrar n Sinay i d-ițaǧǧan aklan, yeɛni : d Haǧiṛa.
25For this Hagar is Mount Sinai in Arabia, and answers to the Jerusalem that exists now, for she is in bondage with her children.
25Haǧiṛa, d adrar n Sinay yellan di tmurt n waɛṛaben, tețmettil-ed tamdint n Lquds n tura, i gellan ț-țaklit s nețțat s warraw-is.
26But the Jerusalem that is above is free, which is the mother of us all.
26Lameɛna tamdint n Lquds yellan deg igenwan ț-țaḥeṛṛit, d nețțat i d yemma-tneɣ.
27For it is written, “Rejoice, you barren who don’t bear. Break forth and shout, you that don’t travail. For more are the children of the desolate than of her who has a husband.” Isaiah 54:1
27Axaṭer yura : Efṛeḥ kemm a tiɛiqeṛt ur nețțarew ara ! Ɛeggeḍ s lfeṛḥ kemm ur nessin lewjaɛ n tarrawt ! Axaṭer tameṭṭut yețwaḥeqṛen, aț-țes ɛu dderya akteṛ n tin yesɛan argaz-is .
28Now we, brothers, as Isaac was, are children of promise.
28Ma d kunwi ay atmaten, d arraw n lemɛahda i tellam am Isḥaq.
29But as then, he who was born according to the flesh persecuted him who was born according to the Spirit, so also it is now.
29Zik-nni, win i d-ilulen s lebɣi n wemdan ițqehhiṛ win i d-ilulen s lebɣi n Ṛṛuḥ n Ṛebbi, akka i gella lḥal ar ass-a.
30However what does the Scripture say? “Throw out the handmaid and her son, for the son of the handmaid will not inherit with the son of the free woman.” Genesis 21:10
30Lameɛna d acu yuran di tira iqedsen ? Enfu taklit d mmi-s ;axaṭer mmi-s n taklit ur ilaq ara ad iwṛet akk-d mmi-s n tmeṭṭut taḥeṛṛit .
31So then, brothers, we are not children of a handmaid, but of the free woman.
31Akka ay atmaten, ur nelli ara d arraw n taklit lameɛna d arraw n tmeṭṭut taḥeṛṛit.
