¹David consulted with the captains of thousands and of hundreds, even with every leader.

¹ داوود پادشاه با تمام فرماندهان گروهان هزار نفری و صد نفری و رهبران قوم مشورت کرد.

²David said to all the assembly of Israel, “If it seems good to you, and if it is of Yahweh our God, let us send abroad everywhere to our brothers who are left in all the land of Israel, with whom the priests and Levites are in their cities that have suburbs, that they may gather themselves to us;

² آنگاه به مردم اسرائیل گفت: «اگر شما تأیید می‌کنید و اگر این خواست خداوند خدای ماست، بگذارید تا نزد بقیّهٔ هموطنان خود و کاهنان و لاویان قاصدانی بفرستیم و به آنها بگوییم تا نزد ما گرد هم آیند.

³and let us bring again the ark of our God to us. For we didn’t seek it in the days of Saul.”

³ آنگاه ما خواهیم رفت و صندوق پیمان خداوند را که در زمان شائول پادشاه نادیده گرفته شده بود، باز خواهیم آورد.»

⁴All the assembly said that they would do so; for the thing was right in the eyes of all the people.

⁴ مردم از این پیشنهاد شاد شدند و با آن موافقت کردند.

⁵So David assembled all Israel together, from the Shihor the brook of Egypt even to the entrance of Hamath, to bring the ark of God from Kiriath Jearim.

⁵ پس داوود مردم اسرائیل را از شیحور مصر تا گذرگاه حمات گرد هم آورد تا صندوق پیمان خداوند را از قریت یعاریم به اورشلیم بیاورند.

⁶David went up, and all Israel, to Baalah, that is, to Kiriath Jearim, which belonged to Judah, to bring up from there the ark of God Yahweh that sits above the cherubim, that is called by the Name.

⁶ داوود و مردم به شهر بعله که همان قریت یعاریم است و در سرزمین یهودا بود رفتند تا صندوق خداوند را که به نام خداوند خوانده می‌شود و در روی صندوق دو فرشتهٔ نگهبان قرار دارد از آنجا بیاورند.

⁷They carried the ark of God on a new cart, and brought it out of the house of Abinadab: and Uzza and Ahio drove the cart.

⁷ ایشان صندوق خداوند را از خانهٔ ابیناداب با گاری نو حمل کردند، عُزَّه و اخیو ارّابه را می‌راندند.

⁸David and all Israel played before God with all their might, even with songs, and with harps, and with stringed instruments, and with tambourines, and with cymbals, and with trumpets.

⁸ داوود و همهٔ مردم با همهٔ توانایی و با سرود و بربط و چنگ و دف و سنج و شیپور در حضور خدا پایکوبی می‌کردند.

⁹When they came to the threshing floor of Chidon, Uzza put forth his hand to hold the ark; for the oxen stumbled.

⁹ هنگامی‌که به خرمنگاه کیدون آمدند، گاوها لغزیدند و عُزا دست خود را دراز کرد تا صندوق پیمان را بگیرد،

¹⁰The anger of Yahweh was kindled against Uzza, and he struck him, because he put forth his hand to the ark; and there he died before God.

¹⁰ خشم خداوند علیه عُزا افروخته شد و او را بزد، زیرا او به صندوق دست زده بود و او آنجا در حضور خدا مُرد.

¹¹David was displeased, because Yahweh had broken forth on Uzza; and he called that place Perez Uzza, to this day.

¹¹ داوود خشمگین بود زیرا خداوند عُزا را در خشم مجازات کرده بود. آن محل تا به امروز فارص عُزا نامیده می‌شود.

¹²David was afraid of God that day, saying, “How shall I bring the ark of God home to me?”

¹² داوود آن روز از خدا ترسید و گفت: «چگونه می‌توانم صندوق خدا را نزد خود ببرم؟»

¹³So David didn’t move the ark to him into the city of David, but carried it aside into the house of Obed-Edom the Gittite.

¹³ پس صندوق را با خود به شهر داوود نبرد، بلکه آن را به خانهٔ عوبید اَدوم جتی برد. صندوق خدا مدّت سه ماه در خانهٔ عوبید اَدوم ماند و خداوند همهٔ خانواده و دارا‌یی‌اش را برکت داد.

¹⁴The ark of God remained with the family of Obed-Edom in his house three months: and Yahweh blessed the house of Obed-Edom, and all that he had.

¹⁴ صندوق خدا مدّت سه ماه در خانهٔ عوبید اَدوم ماند و خداوند همهٔ خانواده و دارا‌یی‌اش را برکت داد.
