¹Hiram king of Tyre sent messengers to David, and cedar trees, and masons, and carpenters, to build him a house.

¹ حیرام، پادشاه صور قاصدانی همراه با چوب سرو، معماران و نجّاران نزد داوود فرستاد تا برای او کاخی بسازند.

²David perceived that Yahweh had established him king over Israel; for his kingdom was exalted on high, for his people Israel’s sake.

² به این خاطر داوود فهمید که خداوند او را به پادشاهی اسرائیل گماشته است و سلطنت او را به‌خاطر مردم اسرائیل کامروا کرده است.

³David took more wives at Jerusalem; and David became the father of more sons and daughters.

³ داوود در اورشلیم با زنان دیگر عروسی کرد و دارای پسران و دختران زیادی شد.

⁴These are the names of the children whom he had in Jerusalem: Shammua, and Shobab, Nathan, and Solomon,

⁴ اینها نامهای فرزندان او هستند که در اورشلیم به دنیا آمدند: شموع، شوباب، ناتان، سلیمان،

⁵and Ibhar, and Elishua, and Elpelet,

⁵ یَبحار، الیشوع، الیفالط،

⁶and Nogah, and Nepheg, and Japhia,

⁶ نوجه، نافج، یافیع،

⁷and Elishama, and Beeliada, and Eliphelet.

⁷ الیشمع، الیاداع و الیفلط.

⁸When the Philistines heard that David was anointed king over all Israel, all the Philistines went up to seek David: and David heard of it, and went out against them.

⁸ هنگامی‌که فلسطینی‌ها شنیدند که داوود پادشاه تمام کشور اسرائیل شده است، ارتش آنها برای دستگیری داوود خارج شد. پس داوود برای مقابله با ایشان تاخت.

⁹Now the Philistines had come and made a raid in the valley of Rephaim.

⁹ فلسطینی‌ها به دشت رفائیم وارد شدند و آغاز به چپاول کردند.

¹⁰David inquired of God, saying, “Shall I go up against the Philistines? Will you deliver them into my hand?” Yahweh said to him, “Go up; for I will deliver them into your hand.”

¹⁰ داوود از خدا پرسید: «آیا به فلسطینی‌ها حمله کنم؟ آیا تو پیروزی از آن من خواهی کرد؟» خدا پاسخ داد: «بله، حمله کن، من به تو پیروزی خواهم بخشید.»

¹¹So they came up to Baal Perazim, and David struck them there; and David said, God has broken my enemies by my hand, like the breach of waters. Therefore they called the name of that place Baal Perazim.

¹¹ پس داوود در بعل فراصیم به ایشان یورش برد و ایشان را شکست داد و داوود گفت: «خدا با دستهای من مانند سیلی خروشان دشمنان مرا شکست داد» پس آن مکان را بعل فراصیم نامیدند.

¹²They left their gods there; and David gave commandment, and they were burned with fire.

¹² هنگامی‌که فلسطینی‌ها گریختند، بُتهای خود را بر جای گذاشتند و داوود دستور داد تا آنها سوزانده شوند.

¹³The Philistines yet again made a raid in the valley.

¹³ بزودی فلسطینی‌ها به دشت بازگشتند و دوباره به چپاول پرداختند.

¹⁴David inquired again of God; and God said to him, “You shall not go up after them. Turn away from them, and come on them over against the mulberry trees.

¹⁴ بار دیگر داوود از خدا راهنمایی خواست و خدا به او گفت: «از اینجا به ایشان حمله نکن، بلکه دور بزن و از سوی دیگر در نزدیکی درختان، آمادهٔ حمله شو.

¹⁵It shall be, when you hear the sound of marching in the tops of the mulberry trees, that then you shall go out to battle; for God has gone out before you to strike the army of the Philistines.”

¹⁵ هنگامی‌که تو صدای گامها را از بالای درختان شنیدی، آنگاه حمله کن زیرا من در پیش تو گام خواهم برداشت تا ارتش فلسطینی‌ها را شکست دهم.»

¹⁶David did as God commanded him: and they struck the army of the Philistines from Gibeon even to Gezer.

¹⁶ داوود مطابق فرمان خدا عمل کرد و فلسطینی‌ها را از جبعون تا جازر به عقب راند. شهرت داوود در همه‌جا پراکنده شد و خداوند همهٔ ملّتها را از او ترساند.

¹⁷The fame of David went out into all lands; and Yahweh brought the fear of him on all nations.

¹⁷ شهرت داوود در همه‌جا پراکنده شد و خداوند همهٔ ملّتها را از او ترساند.
