¹David made him houses in the city of David; and he prepared a place for the ark of God, and pitched for it a tent.

¹ داوود خانه‌هایی در شهر داوود برای خود ساخت و محلی برای صندوق خداوند آماده کرد و خیمه‌ای برای آن برپا کرد.

²Then David said, “No one ought to carry the ark of God but the Levites. For Yahweh has chosen them to carry the ark of God, and to minister to him forever.”

² آنگاه داوود گفت: «کسی به جز لاویان نباید صندوق خدا را حمل کند، زیرا خداوند ایشان را برگزیده تا صندوق خداوند را حمل کنند و او را برای همیشه خدمت کنند.»

³David assembled all Israel at Jerusalem, to bring up the ark of Yahweh to its place, which he had prepared for it.

³ داوود همهٔ مردم اسرائیل را در اورشلیم گرد آورد تا صندوق خداوند را به جایی که آماده کرده بود بیاورد.

⁴David gathered together the sons of Aaron, and the Levites:

⁴ داوود پسران هارون و لاویان را گرد آورد:

⁵of the sons of Kohath, Uriel the chief, and his brothers one hundred twenty;

⁵ از خاندان قهات: صد و بیست نفر به رهبری اوریئیل؛

⁶of the sons of Merari, Asaiah the chief, and his brothers two hundred twenty;

⁶ از خاندان مراری: دویست و بیست نفر به رهبری عسایا،

⁷of the sons of Gershom, Joel the chief, and his brothers one hundred thirty;

⁷ از خاندان جرشون: صد و سی نفر به رهبری یوئیل؛

⁸of the sons of Elizaphan, Shemaiah the chief, and his brothers two hundred;

⁸ از خاندان الیصافان: دویست نفر به رهبری شمعیا؛

⁹of the sons of Hebron, Eliel the chief, and his brothers eighty;

⁹ از خاندان حبرون: هشتاد نفر به رهبری ایلیئیل؛

¹⁰of the sons of Uzziel, Amminadab the chief, and his brothers one hundred twelve.

¹⁰ از خاندان عُزیئیل: صد و دوازده نفر به رهبری عمیناداب؛

¹¹David called for Zadok and Abiathar the priests, and for the Levites, for Uriel, Asaiah, and Joel, Shemaiah, and Eliel, and Amminadab,

¹¹ سپس داوود صادوق و ابیاتار را که کاهن بودند و اوریئیل، عسایا، یوئیل، شمعیا، ایلیئیل و عمیناداب را که از لاویان بودند، فراخواند.

¹²and said to them, “You are the heads of the fathers’ households of the Levites. Sanctify yourselves, both you and your brothers, that you may bring up the ark of Yahweh, the God of Israel, to the place that I have prepared for it.

¹² او به لاویان گفت: «شما رهبران خاندانهای لاوی هستید، خود را و برادران خویش را تقدیس نمایید تا صندوق خداوند خدای اسرائیل را به مکانی که برای آن آماده کرده‌ام بیاورید.

¹³For because you didn’t carry it at first, Yahweh our God made broke out against us, because we didn’t seek him according to the ordinance.”

¹³ چون بار اول شما آنجا نبودید که آن را حمل کنید، خداوند خدای ما، ما را مجازات کرد؛ زیرا آن‌گونه که باید او را ستایش می‌کردیم، نکردیم.»

¹⁴So the priests and the Levites sanctified themselves to bring up the ark of Yahweh, the God of Israel.

¹⁴ آنگاه کاهنان و لاویان خود را تقدیس نمودند تا صندوق پیمان خداوند خدای اسرائیل را حمل کنند.

¹⁵The children of the Levites bore the ark of God on their shoulders with the poles thereon, as Moses commanded according to the word of Yahweh.

¹⁵ همان‌طور که موسی طبق کلام خداوند دستور داده بود، لاویان با چوبهای بلندی آن را بر دوش خود حمل کردند.

¹⁶David spoke to the chief of the Levites to appoint their brothers the singers, with instruments of music, stringed instruments and harps and cymbals, sounding aloud and lifting up the voice with joy.

¹⁶ داوود به رهبر لاویان دستور داد تا خویشان خود را برای خواندن و نواختن چنگ و بربط و سنج بگمارند تا با صدای بلند فریاد شادی برآورند.

¹⁷So the Levites appointed Heman the son of Joel; and of his brothers, Asaph the son of Berechiah; and of the sons of Merari their brothers, Ethan the son of Kushaiah;

¹⁷ پس لاویان هیمان، پسر یوئیل و از برادرانش آساف، پسر برکیا و ایتان، پسر قوشیا از خاندان مراری را برگزیدند

¹⁸and with them their brothers of the second degree, Zechariah, Ben, and Jaaziel, and Shemiramoth, and Jehiel, and Unni, Eliab, and Benaiah, and Maaseiah, and Mattithiah, and Eliphelehu, and Mikneiah, and Obed-Edom, and Jeiel, the doorkeepers.

¹⁸ و با ایشان خویشاوندان درجه دوم خود، زکریا، یعُزیئیل، شمیراموت، یحیئیل، عونی، الیاب، بنایاهو، معسیا، متتیا، الیفلیا و مقنیا و عوبید اَدوم و یعیئیل دروازبانان را برگزیدند.

¹⁹So the singers, Heman, Asaph, and Ethan, were given cymbals of brass to sound aloud;

¹⁹ از سرایندگان: هیمان و آساف و ایتان سنجهای برنزی بنوازند.

²⁰and Zechariah, and Aziel, and Shemiramoth, and Jehiel, and Unni, and Eliab, and Maaseiah, and Benaiah, with stringed instruments set to Alamoth;

²⁰ و زکریا، عُزیئیل، شمیراموت، یحیئیل، عنی، الیاب، معسیا و بنایا را برای نواختن چنگ طبق آلاموت.

²¹and Mattithiah, and Eliphelehu, and Mikneiah, and Obed-Edom, and Jeiel, and Azaziah, with harps tuned to the eight-stringed lyre, to lead.

²¹ امّا متتیا، الیفلیا، مقنیا، عوبید اَدوم، یعیئیل، و عزریا بربط را طبق ثمانی بنوازند و رهبری کنند.

²²Chenaniah, chief of the Levites, was over the song: he instructed about the song, because he was skillful.

²² کننیا به‌خاطر مهارتش در موسیقی رهبر نوازندگان لاوی شد.

²³Berechiah and Elkanah were doorkeepers for the ark.

²³ برکیا و القانه نگهبانان صندوق پیمان بودند.

²⁴Shebaniah, and Joshaphat, and Nethanel, and Amasai, and Zechariah, and Benaiah, and Eliezer, the priests, blew the trumpets before the ark of God: and Obed-Edom and Jehiah were doorkeepers for the ark.

²⁴ شبنیا، یوشافاط، نتنئیل، عماسای، زکریا، بنایاهو و الیعزر که همه کاهن بودند، نزد صندوق پیمان خداوند شیپور می‌نواختند. و عوبید اَدوم و یحیی نگهبان صندوق پیمان بودند.

²⁵So David, and the elders of Israel, and the captains over thousands, went to bring up the ark of the covenant of Yahweh out of the house of Obed-Edom with joy.

²⁵ پس داوود با رهبران اسرائیل و فرماندهان گروهانهای هزار نفری به خانهٔ عوبید اَدوم رفتند تا با شادمانی صندوق پیمان خداوند را بیاورند.

²⁶It happened, when God helped the Levites who bore the ark of the covenant of Yahweh, that they sacrificed seven bulls and seven rams.

²⁶ چون خداوند لاویانی که صندوق پیمان را حمل می‌کردند کمک کرد، ایشان هفت گاو و هفت قوچ قربانی کردند.

²⁷David was clothed with a robe of fine linen, and all the Levites who bore the ark, and the singers, and Chenaniah the master of the song with the singers: and David had on him an ephod of linen.

²⁷ داوود و همهٔ لاویانی که صندوق پیمان را حمل می‌کردند، سرایندگان و کنیا رهبر سرایندگان، همه رداهای کتانی لطیفی پوشیده بودند و داوود جامهٔ مخصوص کاهنان بر تن داشت.

²⁸Thus all Israel brought up the ark of the covenant of Yahweh with shouting, and with sound of the cornet, and with trumpets, and with cymbals, sounding aloud with stringed instruments and harps.

²⁸ پس همهٔ اسرائیلی‌ها با فریاد شادی و صدای بوق و شیپور و سنج و چنگ و بربط همراه صندوق پیمان خداوند به اورشلیم آمدند. هنگامی‌که صندوق پیمان وارد شهر داوود می‌شد، میکال دختر شائول از پنجره نگریست و داوود پادشاه را دید که پایکوبی و شادی می‌کند، پس او را در دل خود خوار شمرد.

²⁹It happened, as the ark of the covenant of Yahweh came to the city of David, that Michal the daughter of Saul looked out at the window, and saw king David dancing and playing; and she despised him in her heart.

²⁹ هنگامی‌که صندوق پیمان وارد شهر داوود می‌شد، میکال دختر شائول از پنجره نگریست و داوود پادشاه را دید که پایکوبی و شادی می‌کند، پس او را در دل خود خوار شمرد.
