¹The sons of Judah: Perez, Hezron, and Carmi, and Hur, and Shobal.

¹ پسران یهودا: فارص، حصرون، کرمی، حور و شوبال.

²Reaiah the son of Shobal became the father of Jahath; and Jahath became the father of Ahumai and Lahad. These are the families of the Zorathites.

² رَآیا، پسر شوبال پدر یحت و یحت پدر اخومای و لاهد بود و ایشان به خانواده‌های صرعاتیان تعلّق داشتند.

³These were the sons of the father of Etam: Jezreel, and Ishma, and Idbash; and the name of their sister was Hazzelelponi;

³ پسران عیطام: یزرعیل، یشما، یدباش و دخترش هَصلَلفونی بودند.

⁴and Penuel the father of Gedor, and Ezer the father of Hushah. These are the sons of Hur, the firstborn of Ephrathah, the father of Bethlehem.

⁴ فنوئیل بانی جدور و عازر بانی خوشه بود. ایشان پسران حور، پسر اول افراته، بانی بیت‌لحم بودند.

⁵Ashhur the father of Tekoa had two wives, Helah and Naarah.

⁵ اشحور، بانی تقوع دو زن داشت به نامهای حلا و نعره.

⁶Naarah bore him Ahuzzam, and Hepher, and Temeni, and Haahashtari. These were the sons of Naarah.

⁶ نعره مادر اخُزام، حافر، تیمانی و اخشطاری بود.

⁷The sons of Helah were Zereth, Izhar, and Ethnan.

⁷ صَرَت، صوحر، اتنان.

⁸Hakkoz became the father of Anub, and Zobebah, and the families of Aharhel the son of Harum.

⁸ و قوس پدر عانوب و صوبیبه وجدّ خاندان اخرحیل، پسر هارُم بود.

⁹Jabez was more honorable than his brothers: and his mother named him Jabez, saying, “Because I bore him with sorrow.”

⁹ یعبیص محترمتر از دیگر برادران خود بود. مادرش او را یبعیص نامید و گفت: «من او را با درد به دنیا آوردم.»

¹⁰Jabez called on the God The Hebrew word rendered “God” is “Elohim.” of Israel, saying, “Oh that you would bless me indeed, and enlarge my border, and that your hand might be with me, and that you would keep me from evil, that it not be to my sorrow!” God granted him that which he requested.

¹⁰ یبعیص نزد خدای اسرائیل دعا کرد و گفت: «خدایا، مرا برکت ده و سرزمین مرا وسعت ببخش، با من باش و مرا از هر آنچه پلید است و باعث درد من می‌شود دور نگاهدار.» و خدا دعای او را اجابت فرمود.

¹¹Chelub the brother of Shuhah became the father of Mehir, who was the father of Eshton.

¹¹ کلوب، برادر شوحه، پدر مَحیر و محیر پدر اشتون بود.

¹²Eshton became the father of Beth Rapha, and Paseah, and Tehinnah the father of Ir Nahash. These are the men of Recah.

¹⁴ مَعونوتای بود و مَعونوتای پدر عُفره. سرایا پدر یوآب و یوآب درّهٔ صنعتگران را پایه‌گذاری کرد و همهٔ هنرمندان ماهر در آنجا سکونت داشتند.

¹⁵The sons of Caleb the son of Jephunneh: Iru, Elah, and Naam; and the sons of Elah; and Kenaz.

¹⁵ کالیب، پسر یَفُنَه دارای سه پسر به نامهای عیر، ایله و ناعم بود و ایله پدر قناز بود.

¹⁶The sons of Jehallelel: Ziph, and Ziphah, Tiria, and Asarel.

¹⁶ زیف، زیفه، تیریا و اَسَرئیل پسران یهللئیل بودند.

¹⁷The sons of Ezrah: Jether, and Mered, and Epher, and Jalon; and she bore Miriam, and Shammai, and Ishbah the father of Eshtemoa.

¹⁷ یَتَر، مَرَد، عیفَر و یالون پسران عَزرَه بودند. مریم، شمای و یشبع، پدر اشتموع فرزندان بتیه، دختر فرعون بودند که برای شوهر خود، مَرَد به دنیا آورد.

¹⁸His wife the Jewess bore Jered the father of Gedor, and Heber the father of Soco, and Jekuthiel the father of Zanoah. These are the sons of Bithiah the daughter of Pharaoh, whom Mered took.

¹⁸ زن یهودی مَرَد هم سه پسر داشت به نامهای یارد، بانی جدور، جابر، بانی سوکو و یقوتیئیل، بانی زانوح.

¹⁹The sons of the wife of Hodiah, the sister of Naham, were the father of Keilah the Garmite, and Eshtemoa the Maacathite.

¹⁹ زن هودیه خواهر نَحَم بود. یکی از پسران او، پدر قعیله جرمی و دیگری پدر اشتموع معکاتی بود.

²⁰The sons of Shimon: Amnon, and Rinnah, Ben Hanan, and Tilon. The sons of Ishi: Zoheth, and Ben Zoheth.

²⁰ اَمنون، رنه، بنحانان و تیلون پسران شیمون بودند. زوحیت و بنزوحیت پسران یشعی بودند.

²¹The sons of Shelah the son of Judah: Er the father of Lecah, and Laadah the father of Mareshah, and the families of the house of those who worked fine linen, of the house of Ashbea;

²¹ پسران شیله پسر یهودا: عیر بانی لیکه، لعده بانی مریشه و جدّ خاندان بافندگان کتان بود که در بیت اشبیع زندگی می‌کردند.

²²and Jokim, and the men of Cozeba, and Joash, and Saraph, who had dominion in Moab, and Jashubilehem. The records are ancient.

²² یوقیم و اهالی شهر کوزیبا، یوآش و ساراف، حکمران موآب که بعد به یشوبی لحم بازگشت، این نامها از مدارک باستانی به‌جا مانده‌اند.

²³These were the potters, and the inhabitants of Netaim and Gederah: there they lived with the king for his work.

²³ این افراد کوزه‌گر و ساکن نتاعیم و جدیره بودند و برای پادشاه کار می‌کردند.

²⁴The sons of Simeon: Nemuel, and Jamin, Jarib, Zerah, Shaul;

²⁴ نموئیل، یامین، یاریب، زارح و شاول پسران شمعون بودند.

²⁵Shallum his son, Mibsam his son, Mishma his son.

²⁵ شاول پدر شلوم و پدر بزرگ مبسام و جدّ مشماع بود.

²⁶The sons of Mishma: Hammuel his son, Zaccur his son, Shimei his son.

²⁶ فرزندان مشماع: حموئیل پسرش، زکور نوه‌اش و شمعی نتیجه‌اش بود.

²⁷Shimei had sixteen sons and six daughters; but his brothers didn’t have many children, neither did all their family multiply like the children of Judah.

²⁷ شمعی شانزده پسر و شش دختر داشت، امّا برادرانش فرزندان زیادی نداشتند. بنابراین جمعیّت طایفهٔ‌شان کمتر از جمعیّت طایفهٔ یهودا بود.

²⁸They lived at Beersheba, and Moladah, and Hazarshual,

²⁸ آنها در شهرهای بئرشبع، مُولاده، حصر-شوعال،

²⁹and at Bilhah, and at Ezem, and at Tolad,

²⁹ بلهه، عاصم، تولاد،

³⁰and at Bethuel, and at Hormah, and at Ziklag,

³⁰ بتوئیل، حُرما، صقلغ،

³¹and at Beth Marcaboth, and Hazar Susim, and at Beth Biri, and at Shaaraim. These were their cities to the reign of David.

³¹ بیت مرکبوت، حصر سوسیم، بیت‌برئی و شعرایم سکونت داشتند. این شهرها تا دوران سلطنت داوود در اختیار ایشان بودند.

³²Their villages were Etam, and Ain, Rimmon, and Tochen, and Ashan, five cities;

³² پنج قریت اطرافشان عیطام، عین، رِمون، توکن و عاشان بودند.

³³and all their villages that were around the same cities, to Baal. These were their habitations, and they have their genealogy.

³³ به علاوهٔ تمام روستاهایی که در جوار شهرها تا بعلت قرار داشتند، اینها مکانهای سکونت ایشان بود و برای خود شجره‌نامه‌ای نوشته بودند.

³⁴Meshobab, and Jamlech, and Joshah the son of Amaziah,

³⁴ مشوباب، یملیک، یوشه پسر امصیا،

³⁵and Joel, and Jehu the son of Joshibiah, the son of Seraiah, the son of Asiel,

³⁵ یوئیل، ییهو پسر یوشبیا، نوه سرایا، نتیجهٔ عسیئیل،

³⁶and Elioenai, and Jaakobah, and Jeshohaiah, and Asaiah, and Adiel, and Jesimiel, and Benaiah,

³⁶ الیوعینای، یعکوبه، یشوحایا، عسایا، عدیئیل، یَسیمیئیل، بنایاهو،

³⁷and Ziza the son of Shiphi, the son of Allon, the son of Jedaiah, the son of Shimri, the son of Shemaiah—

³⁷ و زیزا پسر شفعی، پسر الون، پسر یدایا، پسر شمری، پسر شمعیا.

³⁸these mentioned by name were princes in their families: and their fathers’ houses increased greatly.

³⁸ اشخاص نامبرده رؤسای خاندانها بودند. چون تعداد خانواده‌هایشان زیاد شدند،

³⁹They went to the entrance of Gedor, even to the east side of the valley, to seek pasture for their flocks.

³⁹ ایشان برای یافتن چراگاه برای گلّه‌های خود تا دهانهٔ جَدور در شرق درّه کوچ کردند.

⁴⁰They found fat pasture and good, and the land was wide, and quiet, and peaceable; for those who lived there before were of Ham.

⁴⁰ آنجا چراگاه خوب و حاصلخیز و زمینی گسترده، آرام و امنی یافتند. ساکنان قبلی آنجا قوم حام بودند.

⁴¹These written by name came in the days of Hezekiah king of Judah, and struck their tents, and the Meunim who were found there, and destroyed them utterly to this day, and lived in their place; because there was pasture there for their flocks.

⁴¹ اشخاص مذکور در زمان سلطنت حزقیا، پادشاه یهودا به آنجا آمدند. ساکنان آنجا را که معونیان بودند با چادر‌ها و خانه‌هایشان از بین بردند که تا امروز اثری از آنها باقی نیست و خود در آنجا ساکن شدند، زیرا آنجا چراگاه خوبی برای رمه‌هایشان داشت.

⁴²Some of them, even of the sons of Simeon, five hundred men, went to Mount Seir, having for their captains Pelatiah, and Neariah, and Rephaiah, and Uzziel, the sons of Ishi.

⁴² سپس پانصد نفر از طایفهٔ شمعون به اَدوم رفتند. رهبران ایشان پسران یشیع، یعنی فلطیا، نعریا، رفایا عُزیئیل بودند. آنها باقی ماندهٔ عمالقه را که فرار کرده بودند، از بین بردند و خودشان تا به امروز در آنجا زندگی می‌کنند.

⁴³They struck the remnant of the Amalekites who escaped, and have lived there to this day.
