¹The sons of Reuben the firstborn of Israel (for he was the firstborn; but, because he defiled his father’s couch, his birthright was given to the sons of Joseph the son of Israel; and the genealogy is not to be reckoned after the birthright.

¹ رئوبین پسر اول یعقوب بود، امّا چون با یکی از صیغه‌های پدر خود همبستر شده بود حق نخستزادگی او به پسران یوسف، پسران اسرائیل داده شد و نام او در شجره‌نامه به ترتیبِ پسر اول ثبت نشده است.

²For Judah prevailed above his brothers, and of him came the prince; but the birthright was Joseph’s:)

² با این وجود طایفهٔ یهودا از همه قویتر شد و یک فرمانروا از آن بیرون آمد.

³the sons of Reuben the firstborn of Israel: Hanoch, and Pallu, Hezron, and Carmi.

³ پسران رئوبین، فرزند اول یعقوب عبارت بودند از: حنوک، فلو، حصرون و کرمی.

⁴The sons of Joel: Shemaiah his son, Gog his son, Shimei his son,

⁴ پسران یوئیل: پسرش شمعیا، نوه‌اش جوج و نتیجه‌اش شمعی بود.

⁵Micah his son, Reaiah his son, Baal his son,

⁵ پسر شمعی میکا، نوه‌اش رایا و نتیجه‌اش بعل بود.

⁶Beerah his son, whom Tilgath Pilneser king of Assyria carried away captive: he was prince of the Reubenites.

⁶ پسر بعل، بئیره بود که تغلت فلناسر امپراتور آشور او را به اسارت برد. او رهبر طایفهٔ رئوبین بود.

⁷His brothers by their families, when the genealogy of their generations was reckoned: the chief, Jeiel, and Zechariah,

⁷ ایشان خویشاوندان او هستند که رهبران طایفهٔ بودند و نام ایشان در شجره‌نامه ثبت شده است. یعیئیل، زکریا، بالع پسر عزاز، نوه شامع، نتیجهٔ یوئیل. ایشان در عروعیر و تا نِبو و بعل معون

⁸and Bela the son of Azaz, the son of Shema, the son of Joel, who lived in Aroer, even to Nebo and Baal Meon:

⁸ و به طرف شرق تا مدخل بیابان و تا رود فرات پراکنده بودند، زیرا گلّهٔ گاو ایشان در سرزمین جلعاد بسیار زیاد شدند.

⁹and eastward he lived even to the entrance of the wilderness from the river Euphrates, because their livestock were multiplied in the land of Gilead.

⁹ در دوران سلطنت شائول، طایفهٔ رئوبین با حاجریان جنگیدند و آنها را شکست داده و سرزمین آنها را در شرق جلعاد اشغال کردند.

¹⁰In the days of Saul, they made war with the Hagrites, who fell by their hand; and they lived in their tents throughout all the land east of Gilead.

¹⁰ طایفهٔ جاد در همسایگی رئوبین، در سرزمین باشان و تا سَلخه زندگی می‌کردند.

¹¹The sons of Gad lived over against them, in the land of Bashan to Salecah:

¹¹ مهمترین شخصیّت طایفهٔ ایشان یوئیل و بعد از او شافام، یعنای و شافاط در باشان بودند.

¹²Joel the chief, and Shapham the second, and Janai, and Shaphat in Bashan.

¹² بقیّهٔ اعضای طایفه به هفت خاندان تعلّق داشتند که عبارتند از: میکائیل، مشلام، شبع، یورای، یعکان، زبع و عابر.

¹³Their brothers of their fathers’ houses: Michael, and Meshullam, and Sheba, and Jorai, and Jacan, and Zia, and Eber, seven.

¹³ این افراد از نسل ابیحایل پسر حوری، پسر یاروح، پسر جلعاد، پسر میکائیل، پسر یشیشای، پسر یحدو و پسر بوز بودند.

¹⁴These were the sons of Abihail, the son of Huri, the son of Jaroah, the son of Gilead, the son of Michael, the son of Jeshishai, the son of Jahdo, the son of Buz;

¹⁴ اخی پسر عبدیئیل، نوه جونی رئیس خاندان بود.

¹⁵Ahi the son of Abdiel, the son of Guni, chief of their fathers’ houses.

¹⁵ این مردم جلعاد و اطراف آن را در سرزمین باشان و همچنین چراگاههای وسیع شارون را در اختیار خود داشتند.

¹⁶They lived in Gilead in Bashan, and in its towns, and in all the suburbs of Sharon, as far as their borders.

¹⁶ همهٔ این اسامی در زمان یوتام پادشاه یهودا و یربعام، پادشاه اسرائیل در شجره‌نامه ثبت شده‌اند.

¹⁷All these were reckoned by genealogies in the days of Jotham king of Judah, and in the days of Jeroboam king of Israel.

¹⁷ در طایفه‌های رئوبین، جاد و نیم طایفهٔ منسی چهل و چهار هزار و هفتصد و شصت سرباز باتجربه که به سپر و شمشیر و کمان مسلّح بودند، وجود داشت.

¹⁸The sons of Reuben, and the Gadites, and the half-tribe of Manasseh, of valiant men, men able to bear buckler and sword, and to shoot with bow, and skillful in war, were forty-four thousand seven hundred and sixty, that were able to go forth to war.

¹⁸ آنها به جنگ قبایل حاجریانِ یطور، نافیش و نوداب رفتند.

¹⁹They made war with the Hagrites, with Jetur, and Naphish, and Nodab.

¹⁹ ایشان به خدا توکّل کردند و به درگاه او نیایش کردند و خداوند نیایش ایشان را پاسخ داد و ایشان را بر حاجریان و متّحدانشان پیروز کرد.

²⁰They were helped against them, and the Hagrites were delivered into their hand, and all who were with them; for they cried to God in the battle, and he was entreated of them, because they put their trust in him.

²⁰ ایشان از دشمن پنجاه‌هزار نفر شتر، دویست و پنجاه‌هزار رأس گوسفند و دو هزار رأس الاغ به غنیمت گرفتند و صد هزار نفر اسیر کردند.

²¹They took away their livestock; of their camels fifty thousand, and of sheep two hundred fifty thousand, and of donkeys two thousand, and of men one hundred thousand.

²¹ ایشان بسیاری از دشمنان را کشتند، زیرا آن جنگ، ارادهٔ خدا بود و آنها در آن سرزمین تا زمان تبعید خود زیستند.

²²For there fell many slain, because the war was of God. They lived in their place until the captivity.

²² نصف طایفهٔ منسی جمعیّت زیادی بود. محل سکونت آنها از باشان تا بعل حرمون، سنیر و کوه حرمون وسعت داشت.

²³The children of the half-tribe of Manasseh lived in the land: they increased from Bashan to Baal Hermon and Senir and Mount Hermon.

²³ رهبران خاندانهای آنها عبارت بودند از: عیفَر، یشعی، الیئیل، عزرئیل، ارمیا، هودویا و یحدیئیل. همهٔ ایشان رهبران جنگجو، شجاع و مشهور خانواده‌های خود بودند.

²⁴These were the heads of their fathers’ houses: even Epher, and Ishi, and Eliel, and Azriel, and Jeremiah, and Hodaviah, and Jahdiel, mighty men of valor, famous men, heads of their fathers’ houses.

²⁴ امّا ایشان در مقابل خدای اجداد خود گناه کردند. بُتهای مردم آن سرزمین را که خداوند از سر راهشان برداشته و از بین برده بود، می‌پرستیدند. پس خداوند سبب شد که فول، امپراتور آشور مشهور به تغلت فلناسر به کشور ایشان حمله کند و مردم رئوبین، جاد و نیم طایفهٔ منسی را به حلح، خابور، هارا و رود جوزان به اسارت ببرد. آنها تا به امروز ساکن آنجا هستند.

²⁵They trespassed against the God of their fathers, and played the prostitute after the gods of the peoples of the land, whom God destroyed before them.

²⁵ پس خداوند سبب شد که فول، امپراتور آشور مشهور به تغلت فلناسر به کشور ایشان حمله کند و مردم رئوبین، جاد و نیم طایفهٔ منسی را به حلح، خابور، هارا و رود جوزان به اسارت ببرد. آنها تا به امروز ساکن آنجا هستند.

²⁶The God of Israel stirred up the spirit of Pul king of Assyria, and the spirit of Tilgath Pilneser king of Assyria, and he carried them away, even the Reubenites, and the Gadites, and the half-tribe of Manasseh, and brought them to Halah, and Habor, and Hara, and to the river of Gozan, to this day.
