1Solomon the son of David was strengthened in his kingdom, and Yahweh “Yahweh” is God’s proper Name, sometimes rendered “LORD” (all caps) in other translations. his God The Hebrew word rendered “God” is “Elohim.” was with him, and magnified him exceedingly.

سلیمان پسر داوود، پادشاهی خود را استوار کرد. خداوند خدای او، با وی بود و او را بسیار قوی ساخت.
2Solomon spoke to all Israel, to the captains of thousands and of hundreds, and to the judges, and to every prince in all Israel, the heads of the fathers’ households.

سلیمان تمام اسرائیل، فرماندهان گروههای هزار نفری و صد نفری، همهٔ رهبران اسرائیل و رؤسای خانوادهها را فراخواند.
3So Solomon, and all the assembly with him, went to the high place that was at Gibeon; for there was the Tent of Meeting of God, which Moses the servant of Yahweh had made in the wilderness.

آنگاه سلیمان و همهٔ مردم به بالای تپّهای که در جبعون بود، رفتند؛ زیرا خیمهٔ مقدّس خداوند که موسی، بندهٔ خداوند آن را در بیابان ساخته بود، در آنجا بود.
4But David had brought the ark of God up from Kiriath Jearim to the place that David had prepared for it; for he had pitched a tent for it at Jerusalem.

امّا داوود در اورشلیم مکانی برای صندوق پیمان آماده و در آنجا خیمهای برپا کرده بود و صندوق پیمان خدا را از قریت یعاریم به آنجا منتقل کرده بود.
5Moreover the bronze altar, that Bezalel the son of Uri, the son of Hur, had made, was there before the tabernacle of Yahweh: and Solomon and the assembly were seeking counsel there.

قربانگاه برنزی که بصلئیل پسر اوری، نوهٔ حور ساخته بود، در برابر خیمهٔ مقدّس خداوند در جبعون بود. سلیمان و جماعت در آنجا نیایش کردند.
6Solomon went up there to the bronze altar before Yahweh, which was at the Tent of Meeting, and offered one thousand burnt offerings on it.

سلیمان به سوی قربانگاه برنزی که در مقابل خیمهٔ مقدّس بود، به حضور خداوند رفت و روی آن هزار قربانی سوختنی تقدیم کرد.
7In that night God appeared to Solomon, and said to him, “Ask what I shall give you.”

شب هنگام، خداوند به سلیمان ظاهر شد و به او گفت: «چه میخواهی تا به تو بدهم؟»
8Solomon said to God, “You have shown great loving kindness to David my father, and have made me king in his place.

سلیمان به خدا گفت: «تو نسبت به پدرم داوود، همیشه محبّت پایدار نشان دادی و مرا به جای او پادشاه کردی.
9Now, Yahweh God, let your promise to David my father be established; for you have made me king over a people like the dust of the earth in multitude.

ای خداوند خدا، بگذار وعدهای را که به پدرم داوود دادی، اکنون انجام پذیرد، زیرا تو مرا پادشاه مردمی کردی که مانند غبار زمین بیشمارند.
10Now give me wisdom and knowledge, that I may go out and come in before this people; for who can judge this your people, that is so great?”

اکنون به من خرد و دانشی را که برای رهبری ایشان نیاز دارم، ببخش. چون کیست که بتواند این قوم بزرگ تو را رهبری کند؟»
11God said to Solomon, “Because this was in your heart, and you have not asked riches, wealth, or honor, nor the life of those who hate you, neither yet have asked long life; but have asked wisdom and knowledge for yourself, that you may judge my people, over whom I have made you king:

خدا به سلیمان پاسخ داد: «چون این خواستهٔ دل توست و تو دارایی و توانگری و احترام یا جان کسانیکه از تو متنفّرند یا عمر طولانی نخواستهای، بلکه خرد و دانش برای خود درخواست کردهای تا بتوانی قوم مرا، که تو را پادشاه آنها کردهام، فرمانروایی کنی،
12wisdom and knowledge is granted to you. I will give you riches, wealth, and honor, such as none of the kings have had who have been before you; neither shall there any after you have the like.”

من به تو خرد و دانش خواهم داد و همچنین چنان دارایی و توانگری و احترامی به تو خواهم داد که هیچ پادشاهی قبل از تو و بعد از تو، نخواهد داشت.»
13So Solomon came from the high place that was at Gibeon, from before the Tent of Meeting, to Jerusalem; and he reigned over Israel.

پس سلیمان از بالای تپّهٔ جبعون، از برابر خیمهٔ مقدّس به اورشلیم بازگشت و بر اسرائیل سلطنت نمود.
14Solomon gathered chariots and horsemen: and he had one thousand four hundred chariots, and twelve thousand horsemen, that he placed in the chariot cities, and with the king at Jerusalem.

سلیمان به جمعآوری ارّابهها و اسبها پرداخت، او هزار و چهارصد ارّابه و دوازده هزار اسب داشت که در شهرهای ارّابهها و در اورشلیم نزد خود، مستقر کرده بود.
15The king made silver and gold to be in Jerusalem as stones, and cedars made he to be as the sycamore trees that are in the lowland, for abundance.

پادشاه طلا و نقره را در اورشلیم مانند سنگ ارزان کرد و چوب سرو به فراوانی چوب چنار در تپّههای یهودا.
16The horses which Solomon had were brought out of Egypt and from Kue; the king’s merchants purchased them from Kue.

سلیمان اسبها را از مصر و سیسل وارد میکرد و بازرگانان پادشاه، آنها را به بهایی معیّن خریداری میکردند.
ایشان از مصر ارّابه وارد میکردند و سپس آنها را هریک به قیمت ششصد تکهٔ نقره و هر اسب را به قیمت صد و پنجاه تکهٔ نقره به کشور پادشاهان حِتّی و سوریه صادر میکردند.
17They brought up and brought out of Egypt a chariot for six hundred pieces of silver, and a horse for one hundred fifty: and so for all the kings of the Hittites, and the kings of Syria, they brought them out by their means.

ایشان از مصر ارّابه وارد میکردند و سپس آنها را هریک به قیمت ششصد تکهٔ نقره و هر اسب را به قیمت صد و پنجاه تکهٔ نقره به کشور پادشاهان حِتّی و سوریه صادر میکردند.
