¹Now Solomon purposed to build a house for the name of Yahweh, and a house for his kingdom.

¹ سلیمان تصمیم گرفت معبدی برای پرستش خداوند و کاخ پادشاهی برای خود بسازد.

²Solomon counted out seventy thousand men to bear burdens, and eighty thousand men who were stone cutters in the mountains, and three thousand and six hundred to oversee them.

² سلیمان هفتاد هزار نفر را برای حمل مصالح تعمیراتی، هشتاد هزار نفر را برای سنگتراشی در تپّه‌ها و سه هزار و ششصد نفر سر کارگر برای نظارت آنها گماشت.

³Solomon sent to Huram the king of Tyre, saying, “As you dealt with David my father, and sent him cedars to build him a house in which to dwell, so deal with me.

³ سلیمان برای حیرام، پادشاه صور، پیام فرستاد: «همان‌طور که برای پدرم، داوود الوار سرو فرستادی تا برای خود خانه‌ای بسازد و در آن زندگی کند، برای من نیز بفرست.

⁴Behold, I am about to build a house for the name of Yahweh my God, to dedicate it to him, and to burn before him incense of sweet spices, and for the continual show bread, and for the burnt offerings morning and evening, on the Sabbaths, and on the new moons, and on the set feasts of Yahweh our God. This is an ordinance forever to Israel.

⁴ اکنون من در شرف ساختن معبدی برای احترام خداوند خدایم هستم که به او تقدیم کنم برای سوزاندن بُخور خوشبو، برای اهدای دایمی نان مقدّس و قربانی‌های سوختنی در هر صبح و عصر روزهای سبت و در ماه نو و جشن‌های معیّن شدهٔ خداوند خدای ما؛ این فرمان خداوند به اسرائیل، برای همیشه است.

⁵“The house which I build is great; for our God is great above all gods.

⁵ معبدی که من خواهم ساخت بزرگ است، زیرا خدای ما بزرگتر از همهٔ خدایان است.

⁶But who is able to build him a house, since heaven and the heaven of heavens can’t contain him? who am I then, that I should build him a house, except just to burn incense before him?

⁶ امّا کیست که بتواند برای او معبدی بسازد؟ زیرا او در آسمان، در بالاترین آسمانها نیز نمی‌گنجد. پس من کیستم که معبدی برای او بسازم؟ به جز مکانی که در حضور وی بُخور بسوزانند.

⁷“Now therefore send me a man skillful to work in gold, and in silver, and in brass, and in iron, and in purple, and crimson, and blue, and who knows how to engrave engravings, to be with the skillful men who are with me in Judah and in Jerusalem, whom David my father provided.

⁷ پس اکنون مردی ماهر که با طلا، نقره، برنز و آهن و همچنین در کنده‌کاری آزموده باشد و بتواند با پارچه‌های بنفش، قرمز و آبی کار کند، بفرست تا با کارگران ماهری که در نزد من در یهودا و اورشلیم هستند باشد، این کارگران را پدرم داوود آماده کرده بود.

⁸“Send me also cedar trees, fir trees, and algum trees, out of Lebanon; for I know that your servants know how to cut timber in Lebanon: and behold, my servants shall be with your servants,

⁸ همچنین از لبنان الوار سرو، صنوبر و صندل بفرست، زیرا می‌دانم که بندگان تو در بریدن الوار لبنان ماهر هستند. بندگان من با بندگان تو کار خواهند کرد.

⁹even to prepare me timber in abundance; for the house which I am about to build shall be great and wonderful.

⁹ چون معبدی که من خواهم ساخت بزرگ و شگفت‌انگیز خواهد بود، الوار فراوان برای من آماده کن.

¹⁰Behold, I will give to your servants, the cutters who cut timber, twenty thousand measures of beaten wheat, and twenty thousand measures of barley, and twenty thousand baths of wine, and twenty thousand baths of oil.”

¹⁰ من برای بندگانت که الوار می‌برند، دوهزار تن گندم کوبیده، دوهزار تن جو، چهارصد هزار لیتر شراب و چهارصد هزار لیتر روغن زیتون خواهم داد.»

¹¹Then Huram the king of Tyre answered in writing, which he sent to Solomon, “Because Yahweh loves his people, he has made you king over them.”

¹¹ آنگاه حیرام پادشاه صور، در نامه‌ای به سلیمان، چنین پاسخ داد: «چون خداوند قوم خود را دوست دارد، تو را پادشاه ایشان کرده است.»

¹²Huram continued, “Blessed be Yahweh, the God of Israel, that made heaven and earth, who has given to David the king a wise son, endowed with discretion and understanding, that should build a house for Yahweh, and a house for his kingdom.

¹² حیرام همچنین گفت: «ستایش بر خداوند خدای اسرائیل، که آسمان و زمین را آفرید، که به داوود پادشاه چنین پسر خردمندی داده است که پر از دانش و بینش است که معبدی برای خداوند و کاخ پادشاهی برای خود خواهد ساخت.

¹³Now I have sent a skillful man, endowed with understanding, of Huram my father’s,

¹³ من استادی خردمند و ماهر، به نام حورام نزد شما فرستاده‌ام.

¹⁴the son of a woman of the daughters of Dan; and his father was a man of Tyre, skillful to work in gold, and in silver, in brass, in iron, in stone, and in timber, in purple, in blue, and in fine linen, and in crimson, also to engrave any kind of engraving, and to devise any device; that there may be a place appointed to him with your skillful men, and with the skillful men of my lord David your father.

¹⁴ مادر او از طایفهٔ دان و پدرش از اهالی صور است. او در مورد کار کردن باطلا، نقره، برنز، آهن، سنگ و چوب و پارچه‌های بنفش، آبی و پارچه‌های مرغوب آموزش دیده است. او می‌تواند هرگونه کنده‌کاری و طراحی را که به او واگذار شود با همکاری هنرمندان شما و هنرمندان سرورم، پدر شما داوود، انجام دهد.

¹⁵“Now therefore the wheat and the barley, the oil and the wine, which my lord has spoken of, let him send to his servants:

¹⁵ در مورد گندم، جو، شراب و روغن که سرورم فرموده بود، می‌توانید آن را برای خدمتگذاران خود بفرستید.

¹⁶and we will cut wood out of Lebanon, as much as you shall need; and we will bring it to you in floats by sea to Joppa; and you shall carry it up to Jerusalem.”

¹⁶ ما آنچه الوار از لبنان نیاز داشته باشید خواهیم برید و آنها را به صورت دستهٔ الواری به هم پیوسته و شناور به بندر یافا خواهیم فرستاد، شما آنها را به اورشلیم ببرید.»

¹⁷Solomon numbered all the foreigners who were in the land of Israel, after the numbering with which David his father had numbered them; and they were found one hundred fifty-three thousand six hundred.

¹⁷ آنگاه سلیمان تمام بیگانگانی را که در سرزمین اسرائیل زندگی می‌کردند، سرشماری کرد. مثل آماری که پدرش داوود گرفته بود. تعداد بیگانگان صد و پنجاه و سه هزار و ششصد نفر بود. هفتاد هزار نفر از آنان را به کارگری، هشتاد هزار نفر را به سنگتراشی در کوهپایه‌ها و سه هزار و ششصد نفر را به عنوان ناظر گماشت تا مردم را مجبور به کار کنند.

¹⁸He set seventy thousand of them to bear burdens, and eighty thousand who were stone cutters in the mountains, and three thousand six hundred overseers to set the people at work.

¹⁸ هفتاد هزار نفر از آنان را به کارگری، هشتاد هزار نفر را به سنگتراشی در کوهپایه‌ها و سه هزار و ششصد نفر را به عنوان ناظر گماشت تا مردم را مجبور به کار کنند.
