¹All the people of Judah took Uzziah, who was sixteen years old, and made him king in the place of his father Amaziah.

¹ همهٔ مردم یهودا، عُزیا را که شانزده سال داشت به جانشینی پدرش، امصیا برگزیدند.

²He built Eloth, and restored it to Judah, after that the king slept with his fathers.

² پس از اینکه امصیا در آرامگاه سلطنتی دفن شد، عزیا شهر ایلوت را تسخیر کرد و آن را بازسازی کرد.

³Sixteen years old was Uzziah when he began to reign; and he reigned fifty-two years in Jerusalem: and his mother’s name was Jechiliah, of Jerusalem.

³ عُزیا شانزده ساله بود که به سلطنت رسید و مدّت پنجاه و دو سال در اورشلیم پادشاهی کرد. نام مادرش یَکلیا و از اهالی اورشلیم بود.

⁴He did that which was right in the eyes of Yahweh, according to all that his father Amaziah had done.

⁴ او نیز مانند پدرش امصیا آنچه را که در نظر خداوند نیک بود بجا آورد

⁵He set himself to seek God in the days of Zechariah, who had understanding in the vision of God: and as long as he sought Yahweh, God made him to prosper.

⁵ تا زمانی که زکریا مشاور روحانی او زنده بود، عزیا خدا را وفادارانه خدمت کرد و خدا او را کامیاب کرد.

⁶He went forth and warred against the Philistines, and broke down the wall of Gath, and the wall of Jabneh, and the wall of Ashdod; and he built cities in the country of Ashdod, and among the Philistines.

⁶ او به جنگ فلسطینی‌ها رفت و دیوارهای جت، یبنه و اشدود را ویران کرد، و شهرهای مستحکمی را در سرزمین اشدود و در مناطق دیگر در فلسطین ساخت.

⁷God helped him against the Philistines, and against the Arabians who lived in Gur Baal, and the Meunim.

⁷ خدا در جنگ با فلسطینیان، با عربهای جوربعل و همچنین با معونیان نیز به او کمک کرد.

⁸The Ammonites gave tribute to Uzziah: and his name spread abroad even to the entrance of Egypt; for he grew exceeding strong.

⁸ عمونی‌ها به عزیا خراج می‌پرداختند و شهرت او تا مرزهای مصر گسترش یافت، زیرا وی بسیار نیرومند شده بود.

⁹Moreover Uzziah built towers in Jerusalem at the corner gate, and at the valley gate, and at the turning of the wall, and fortified them.

⁹ عُزیا همچنین اورشلیم را به وسیلهٔ ساختن دژهایی در دروازهٔ زاویه، دروازهٔ درّه و جایی که دیوار پیچ می‌خورد مستحکم کرد.

¹⁰He built towers in the wilderness, and dug out many cisterns, for he had much livestock; in the lowland also, and in the plain: and he had farmers and vineyard keepers in the mountains and in the fruitful fields; for he loved farming.

¹⁰ او همچنین در بیابان دژهای مستحکم و آب انبارها ساخت، زیرا او گلّه‌های بزرگی در دشت و کوهپایه‌های غربی داشت و چون کشاورزی را دوست داشت، مردم را تشویق کرد تا در کوهپایه‌ها تاکستان بسازند و زمینهای حاصلخیز را کشت کنند.

¹¹Moreover Uzziah had an army of fighting men, who went out to war by bands, according to the number of their reckoning made by Jeiel the scribe and Maaseiah the officer, under the hand of Hananiah, one of the king’s captains.

¹¹ او ارتشی بزرگ و آماده جنگ داشت. آمار آنها توسط یعیئیل و معسیا که منشی بودند، زیر نظر حننیا که یکی از مأموران پادشاه بود نگاه‌داری می‌شد.

¹²The whole number of the heads of fathers’ households, even the mighty men of valor, was two thousand and six hundred.

¹² ارتش توسط دو هزار و ششصد نفر از افسران اداره می‌شد.

¹³Under their hand was an army, three hundred thousand and seven thousand and five hundred, who made war with mighty power, to help the king against the enemy.

¹³ تحت فرمان ایشان سیصد و هفت هزار و پانصد نفر سرباز ورزیده بود که علیه دشمنان پادشاه قادر به جنگ بودند.

¹⁴Uzziah prepared for them, even for all the army, shields, and spears, and helmets, and coats of mail, and bows, and stones for slinging.

¹⁴ عُزیا برای همهٔ ارتش، سپر، نیزه، کلاهخود، زره، کمان و سنگ برای فلاخن فراهم کرد.

¹⁵He made in Jerusalem engines, invented by skillful men, to be on the towers and on the battlements, with which to shoot arrows and great stones. His name spread far abroad; for he was marvelously helped, until he was strong.

¹⁵ منجنیق‌هایی را که در اورشلیم توسط صنعتگران اختراع شده بود، در بُرجها و گوشه‌های دیوار قرار داد و توسط آنها می‌توانست سنگهای بزرگ و تیرها پرتاب کنند. شهرت او تا دوردست‌ها رسید، او بسیار نیرومند شد زیرا خدا او را یاری داده بود.

¹⁶But when he was strong, his heart was lifted up, so that he did corruptly, and he trespassed against Yahweh his God; for he went into Yahweh’s temple to burn incense on the altar of incense.

¹⁶ امّا هنگامی‌که او نیرومند شد، مغرور گشت و روبه زوال رفت. زیرا با خداوند، خدای خود به راستی عمل نکرد و وارد معبد بزرگ شد تا بر روی قربانگاه بُخور بسوزاند.

¹⁷Azariah the priest went in after him, and with him eighty priests of Yahweh, who were valiant men:

¹⁷ عزریای کاهن با هشتاد نفر از کاهنان شجاع به دنبال پادشاه رفتند

¹⁸and they resisted Uzziah the king, and said to him, “It isn’t for you, Uzziah, to burn incense to Yahweh, but for the priests the sons of Aaron, who are consecrated to burn incense. Go out of the sanctuary; for you have trespassed; neither shall it be for your honor from Yahweh God.”

¹⁸ تا با او مقاومت کنند. ایشان به عزیا گفتند: «تو هیچ حقّی نداری که بُخور برای خداوند بسوزانی. این فقط وظیفهٔ کاهنانی است که از خاندان هارون هستند و برای این کار تقدیس شده‌اند. این مکان مقدّس را ترک کن. تو به خداوند توهین کرده‌ای و از این پس او تو را برکت نخواهد داد.»

¹⁹Then Uzziah was angry; and he had a censer in his hand to burn incense; and while he was angry with the priests, the leprosy broke forth in his forehead before the priests in the house of Yahweh, beside the altar of incense.

¹⁹ عُزیا در کنار قربانگاه بُخور ایستاده بود و آتشدانی برای سوزاندن بُخور در دست داشت. او از کاهنان خشمگین شد و بلافاصله بیماری جزام در پیشانی او ظاهر شد.

²⁰Azariah the chief priest, and all the priests, looked on him, and behold, he was leprous in his forehead, and they thrust him out quickly from there; yes, himself hurried also to go out, because Yahweh had struck him.

²⁰ عزریا و کاهنان دیگر با وحشت به پیشانی پادشاه خیره شدند و آنگاه او را مجبور کردند تا معبد بزرگ را ترک کند. او با شتاب از آنجا خارج شد، زیرا خداوند او را تنبیه کرده بود.

²¹Uzziah the king was a leper to the day of his death, and lived in a separate house, being a leper; for he was cut off from the house of Yahweh: and Jotham his son was over the king’s house, judging the people of the land.

²¹ عُزیای پادشاه تا پایان عمر خود جزامی بود و به‌خاطر آن بیماری ناپاک بود و نمی‌توانست دیگر وارد معبد بزرگ شود. او در خانهٔ خود جداگانه زندگی می‌کرد، و پسرش، یوتام حکومت کشور را به دست گرفت.

²²Now the rest of the acts of Uzziah, first and last, Isaiah the prophet, the son of Amoz, wrote.

²² اشعیای نبی، پسر آموص بقیّهٔ رویدادهای دوران سلطنت عزیای پادشاه را نوشته است. عُزیا درگذشت و در آرامگاه پادشاهان به خاک سپرده شد ولی به‌خاطر بیماری جزام او در گور سلطنتی دفن نشد. پسرش یوتام جانشین او شد.

²³So Uzziah slept with his fathers; and they buried him with his fathers in the field of burial which belonged to the kings; for they said, “He is a leper.” Jotham his son reigned in his place.

²³ عُزیا درگذشت و در آرامگاه پادشاهان به خاک سپرده شد ولی به‌خاطر بیماری جزام او در گور سلطنتی دفن نشد. پسرش یوتام جانشین او شد.
