¹Ahaz was twenty years old when he began to reign; and he reigned sixteen years in Jerusalem: and he didn’t do that which was right in the eyes of Yahweh, like David his father;

¹ آحاز در سن بیست سالگی پادشاه شد و شانزده سال در اورشلیم حکومت کرد. او مانند جدّ خود، داوود، آنچه را مورد پسند خداوند بود انجام نداد.

²but he walked in the ways of the kings of Israel, and made also molten images for the Baals.

² بلکه در راه پادشاهان اسرائیل گام برداشت، او حتّی بت فلزی بعل را ساخت

³Moreover he burnt incense in the valley of the son of Hinnom, and burnt his children in the fire, according to the abominations of the nations whom Yahweh cast out before the children of Israel.

³ و در درّه ابن‌هنوم بُخور سوزاند و حتّی پسران خود را به عنوان قربانی سوختنی برای بُتها قربانی کرد و از رسوم نفرت‌انگیز قومهایی تقلید می‌کرد که خداوند از برابر قوم اسرائیل در هنگامی‌که ایشان پیشروی می‌کردند، بیرون رانده بود.

⁴He sacrificed and burnt incense in the high places, and on the hills, and under every green tree.

⁴ او در پرستشگاههای روی تپّه‌ها و زیر هر درختی که سایه داشت، قربانی می‌کرد و بُخور می‌سوزاند.

⁵Therefore Yahweh his God delivered him into the hand of the king of Syria; and they struck him, and carried away of his a great multitude of captives, and brought them to Damascus. He was also delivered into the hand of the king of Israel, who struck him with a great slaughter.

⁵ پس خداوند، خدای او، وی را به دست پادشاه سوریه انداخت تا وی را شکست بدهد و گروه بزرگی از مردم او را به اسارت به دمشق ببرد. او همچنین به دست پادشاه اسرائیل سپرده شد تا او هم شکست بخورد و عدّهٔ زیادی کشته شوند.

⁶For Pekah the son of Remaliah killed in Judah one hundred twenty thousand in one day, all of them valiant men; because they had forsaken Yahweh, the God of their fathers.

⁶ فِقَح پسر رَمَلیا پادشاه اسرائیل صد و بیست هزار مردان رزمنده ر‌ا در یک روز در یهودا در میدان جنگ کشت، زیرا ایشان خداوند، خدای نیاکان خود را ترک کرده بودند.

⁷Zichri, a mighty man of Ephraim, killed Maaseiah the king’s son, and Azrikam the ruler of the house, and Elkanah who was next to the king.

⁷ سپس یکی از رزمندگان اسرائیلی به نام زکری از اهالی افرایم، معسیا، پسر آحاز پادشاه، عزریقام، سرپرست دربار و القانه را که شخص دوم مملکت بود، کشت.

⁸The children of Israel carried away captive of their brothers two hundred thousand, women, sons, and daughters, and took also away much spoil from them, and brought the spoil to Samaria.

⁸ ارتش اسرائیل، دویست هزار نفر زن و بچّه را، با اینکه از اقوام نزدیک خود بودند، به اسارت گرفت و با غنایم فراوان به سامره برد.

⁹But a prophet of Yahweh was there, whose name was Oded: and he went out to meet the army that came to Samaria, and said to them, “Behold, because Yahweh, the God of your fathers, was angry with Judah, he has delivered them into your hand, and you have slain them in a rage which has reached up to heaven.

⁹ مردی به نام عودید، که نبی خداوند بود، در سامره می‌زیست به دیدار ارتش اسرائیل و اسیران یهودا رفت و هنگامی‌که وارد شهر می‌شدند به ایشان چنین گفت: «خداوند، خدای نیاکان شما، از یهودا خشمگین بود و اجازه داد تا ایشان را شکست دهید، امّا شما ایشان را در خشم کشتید و او از کشتار وحشیانهٔ شما آگاه است.

¹⁰Now you purpose to keep under the children of Judah and Jerusalem for bondservants and bondmaids for yourselves. Aren’t there even with you trespasses of your own against Yahweh your God?

¹⁰ اکنون هم می‌خواهید مردان و زنان اورشلیم و یهودا را به بردگی بگیرید. آیا شما نیز علیه خداوند، خدای خود گناه نمی‌ورزید؟

¹¹Now hear me therefore, and send back the captives, that you have taken captive from your brothers; for the fierce wrath of Yahweh is on you.”

¹¹ گوش کنید، این اسیران، برادران و خواهران شما هستند. ایشان را رها کنید، زیرا خداوند در خشم خود، شما را مجازات خواهد کرد.»

¹²Then some of the heads of the children of Ephraim, Azariah the son of Johanan, Berechiah the son of Meshillemoth, and Jehizkiah the son of Shallum, and Amasa the son of Hadlai, stood up against those who came from the war,

¹² چهار نفر از رهبران اسرائیل، عزریا پسر یهوحانان، برکیا پسر مشلیموت، یحزقیا پسر شلوم و عماسا پسر حدلای نیز با این کار ارتش مخالفت کردند.

¹³and said to them, “You shall not bring in the captives here: for you purpose that which will bring on us a trespass against Yahweh, to add to our sins and to our trespass; for our trespass is great, and there is fierce wrath against Israel.”

¹³ ایشان گفتند: «این اسیران را به اینجا نیاورید، ما اکنون علیه خداوند گناه کرده‌ایم و او را آن‌قدر خشمگین نموده‌ایم، که ما را مجازات کند؛ اکنون شما می‌خواهید با این کار جرم ما را سنگین‌تر کنید.»

¹⁴So the armed men left the captives and the spoil before the princes and all the assembly.

¹⁴ پس ارتش، اسیران و غنایم را به دست مردم و رهبران سپردند

¹⁵The men who have been mentioned by name rose up, and took the captives, and with the spoil clothed all who were naked among them, dressed them, gave them sandals, and gave them something to eat and to drink, anointed them, carried all the feeble of them on donkeys, and brought them to Jericho, the city of palm trees, to their brothers. Then they returned to Samaria.

¹⁵ و چهار نفر مرد برگزیده شدند تا برای اسیران از غنایم پوشاک تهیّه کنند. ایشان به اسیران پوشاک و کفش داده و خوراک و آب کافی دادند و روغن زیتون بر زخمهای ایشان نهادند. کسانی را که بسیار ناتوان بودند، سوار بر الاغ کردند و همهٔ اسیران را به اریحا معروف به شهر نخلها، در سرزمین یهودا بازگرداندند. آنگاه اسرائیلی‌ها به سامره بازگشتند.

¹⁶At that time king Ahaz sent to the kings of Assyria to help him.

¹⁶ در آن هنگام آحاز پادشاه از تغلت فلاسر امپراتور آشور کمک خواست،

¹⁷For again the Edomites had come and struck Judah, and carried away captives.

¹⁷ زیرا اَدومیان دوباره به سرزمین یهودا حمله کرده و عدّه‌ای را به اسارت برده بودند.

¹⁸The Philistines also had invaded the cities of the lowland, and of the South of Judah, and had taken Beth Shemesh, and Aijalon, and Gederoth, and Soco with its towns, and Timnah with its towns, Gimzo also and its towns: and they lived there.

¹⁸ فلسطینی‌ها هم به شهرهای کوهپایه‌های جنوبی و غرب یهودا حمله کرده بودند. ایشان شهرهای بیت شمس، ایلون، جدیروت، سوکو، تمنه و جمزو را با روستاهای اطراف آنها را به تصرّف درآورده و در آنجا مستقر شده بودند.

¹⁹For Yahweh brought Judah low because of Ahaz king of Israel; for he had dealt wantonly in Judah, and trespassed severely against Yahweh.

¹⁹ خداوند مشکلاتی بر یهودا آورد، زیرا آحاز پادشاه به حقوق مردم خود تجاوز کرده و در برابر خداوند سرکشی نموده و بود

²⁰Tilgath Pilneser king of Assyria came to him, and distressed him, but didn’t strengthen him.

²⁰ پس تغلت فلناسر، امپراتور آشور علیه آحاز برخاست و به جای تقویت او، وی را سرکوب کرد.

²¹For Ahaz took away a portion out of the house of Yahweh, and out of the house of the king and of the princes, and gave it to the king of Assyria: but it didn’t help him.

²¹ با وجودی که آحاز خزانهٔ معبد بزرگ، خزانهٔ کاخهای پادشاه و رهبران را تاراج کرد و به عنوان خراج به امپراتور آشور داد، امّا فایده‌ای نداشت.

²²In the time of his distress, he trespassed yet more against Yahweh, this same king Ahaz.

²² در این دوران دشوار آحاز پادشاه نسبت به خداوند بیشتر خیانت کرد

²³For he sacrificed to the gods of Damascus, which struck him; and he said, “Because the gods of the kings of Syria helped them, so I will sacrifice to them, that they may help me.” But they were the ruin of him, and of all Israel.

²³ او برای خدایان دمشق که از آنها شکست خورده بود، قربانی کرد و گفت: «چون خدایان پادشاه سوریه به او کمک کردند، من نیز برای آنها قربانی می‌کنم تا شاید مرا نیز یاری رسانند.» امّا این کار باعث نابودی او و قوم اسرائیل شد.

²⁴Ahaz gathered together the vessels of God’s house, and cut in pieces the vessels of God’s house, and shut up the doors of the house of Yahweh; and he made him altars in every corner of Jerusalem.

²⁴ آحاز ظروف و وسایل معبد بزرگ را جمع کرد و همه را تکه‌تکه کرد. او دروازه‌های معبد بزرگ را بست و برای خود در هر گوشهٔ شهر اورشلیم قربانگاه ساخت.

²⁵In every city of Judah he made high places to burn incense to other gods, and provoked to anger Yahweh, the God of his fathers.

²⁵ او در تمام شهرها و روستاهای یهودا پرستشگاههایی بر تپّه‌های بلندی برای پرستش بُتها ساخت جایی که در آن برای خدایان بیگانه بُخور بسوزانند. به این طریق او خشم خداوند، خدای نیاکان خود را برافروخت.

²⁶Now the rest of his acts, and all his ways, first and last, behold, they are written in the book of the kings of Judah and Israel.

²⁶ شرح همهٔ کارها و روشهای او از نخست تا پایان در کتاب تاریخ پادشاهان یهودا و اسرائیل نوشته شده‌اند. آحاز به نیاکان خود پیوست و او را در شهر اورشلیم به خاک سپردند، امّا او را در آرامگاه پادشاهان اسرائیل دفن نکردند و پسرش، حزقیا جانشین او شد.

²⁷Ahaz slept with his fathers, and they buried him in the city, even in Jerusalem; for they didn’t bring him into the tombs of the kings of Israel: and Hezekiah his son reigned in his place.

²⁷ آحاز به نیاکان خود پیوست و او را در شهر اورشلیم به خاک سپردند، امّا او را در آرامگاه پادشاهان اسرائیل دفن نکردند و پسرش، حزقیا جانشین او شد.
